Reviews on Motorsports Limited

As much as we may love our cars, nobody likes the whole process of buying one. For starters, there's loads of Internet research and when you're finally ready to go on a test drive you feel like you have to have a battle plan when you walk into a dealership. No matter how well you bargain, it always feel dirty - and like you're playing a game - and that some slimy sales guy is trying to put one over on you the whole time.

Not at Motorsports Limited. For starters, they're not a dealership in the traditional sense. As their tag line says they specialize in "pre-owned luxury models." So the bad news, you are not going to get your next KIA here. But the good news is if you appreciate the finer things chances are Darren and the crew can get you the car you're looking for at a price often better than imagined (or at least under blue book).

How does it work? Darren keeps a small but well appointed showroom full of cars so shiny and clean you could eat your dinner of any one of the engines. If you don't see something you adore, you tell him what you're looking for. Darren and crew go to auctions all over the area and will be like your personal shopper.  Sweet.

The best part was the experience. Talk about no pressure. The first day I came on a Sunday afternoon (Superbowl no less). I test drove a couple of GTIs and then he politely asked if I wouldn't mind coming back another day because he had to go home to take care of his son. I came back twice because I am notoriously slow to make up my mind, test drove the car I had my sights on. Not once did anyone there try to push me or scare me into the car with tales of how many other people had tried it/liked it/wanted it. They actually act like they enjoy helping people find their perfect cars at a decent price. Dope!

After doing a bit more Internet surfing, I knew this was the car for me. I still went into the final negotiations like I was headed into battle. But I was the only one fighting. There was no pressure, no extra warranty hassle, no closing manager sent in to scare you. Already priced below blue book, the car was a steal. The they gave me a fair price on my trade in, we signed papers and I was on my way. I was pre-financed, but they offer on the spot financing with Alaska CU if you can't just cut a check for the car on the spot :-)

At days end, I drove away in a 2008 Volkswagen GTI with under 16,000miles and full factory warranty for so far under blue book my banker asked about how to find the dealership. And this was no stripped down rental car, I'm rolling bells, whistles and all.

Look if you like dealing with dealerships, be my guest, there are plenty in the area who will put you through all kinds of flaming hoops for the privilege of driving a crappy car. If you want to buy a quality vehicle that you are going to love driving (hell, love looking at) well past your last payment , and have an experience that won't make you feel like you got burned along the way you owe it to yourself to check out MSL. Come on, it'll be fun, i promise!
