Very happy with the attention and information I was given on my car's first-ever oil change; enjoyed the knowledge and patience of both the mechanic and the manager.

I was very impressed by Jerry and his crew and their knowledge of classic vehicles!  I am happy to have a place to bring my classic van.

This was the worst auto shop experience I've ever had...and my car has had a lot of work on it over the years.  I was quoted that it would take three hours to check three minor things on my car, which would come to a total of $300...just to LOOK at the car. When I drove away in the nasty smelling loaner car, I felt unsettled about how expensive that quote was. When I called to cancel the service and take my car elsewhere, the price somehow became negotiable and was immediately dropped to $160, and then to $115. (When I called another shop nearby, the same work was quoted at $50-$100, which validated my concern.) Why wasn't I quoted this price at the beginning? I don't want to negotiate with untrustworthy mechanics to get a fair price. I want to be treated with respect and honesty. Ooh...and to top it off, they charged me $35 for the gross loaner car since I didn't trust them enough to work on my car. Very frustrating. This is the reason why mechanics get a bad name. I wouldn't recommend this shop to anyone.

Love these guys. They took care of our ailing 2000 Jag XK8 like it was one of the family. Massive engine problems resolved and sweet lord our car is twice as fast now. Ray treated us like gold. Thanks, Crown Hill.

I have delayed too long in praising this place.  They are awesome, honest, funny and kind. I brought a clunker of a van into them and they never made me feel bad about its condition and they did as much as they could to keep it running, but one day they just couldn't do any more for it. When they called to tell me, they were so apologetic and thoughtful. Fortunately, they had a great used car for sale that was in my price range (very low) and I bought it that day because I can't be one day without a vehicle with kids in school, etc. Wow, it is a fantastic vehicle.  I trust these folks to the limit.  I don't know if they are related or not, but they treat each other like family and you feel included in that family. You will not be disappointed with Crown Hill Automotive.

Always friendly despite the fact that they are so busy.  I've owned my '97 jeep cherokee for 9 years.  I have had alignment issues ever since I put a modest lift on it 8 years ago.  The jeep seemed to wander on the road at highway speeds.   I have searched numerous forums and have taken it to 3 different mechanics: one general, one suspension specialist, and one off-road specialist to try to fix the road handling.  No one could figure it out or they just blew it off and said it was the lift.  I took it to Crown Hill and they were able to get it back to stock riding condition without having to overhaul the suspension.
When it comes to cars I consider myself a needy customer - want to know the details about everything the mechanic finds, where the parts come from, etc.  Crown Hill has been amenable to that.  In fact, they seem to respect it.  I think I found my automotive home.

Are all of these 5 star reviews from friends relatives and employees????

I call and schedule to bring it in on a Friday... they said, be here at 8:00. I get there for a seemingly simple repair... Then the guy tells me as I'm walking out... we'll take a look at it next Monday!!! WTF?!?!?! Oh well whatever.

The car is my sons pride and and joy... a  62 Chevy impala that needed repair of a couple of taillights and front turn signals... Get a call $14 per taillight and maybe an hour labor. My son goes to pick it up... $400... "we had to do a few other things bla bla bla". My son drives it home, and the car dies wouldn't start dead (brand new battery). He had to jump it three times to get  it home (4 miles). My son calls the shop to ask WTF, and the guy was actually laughing at his experience driving home! Plus the taillights went out and the front turn signals were not repaired either!!!
They convince us to take the car back, to see where the electrical short is... The car ran fine before it went there.
We get the battery charged and take it back and I said to the guy "Look don't spend a lot of time on it but see what you might have screwed up so we can at least drive it home safely and I'm not about to pay for it"...
Get a call: "Uh your starter is ruined, and we cannot start the car" it'll run another $350! Oh, and they said the battery was "shot" and could not even take a charge. I took the battery back to where I bought it a couple of weeks prior, and it took a full charge - no problem!
The car has a hidden kill switch which I told them about, but the last guy working on it didn't know about it, and he was trying to start it and screwing around on it for quite a while I pointed it out to the kid, and noticed also that it was now broken and there were a bunch of wires hanging out under the dash, and the starter would not engage--- (It always did before).
...So I said hey, don't touch it... and had the car towed the hell out of there... total incompetence... and they had me pay another $100 to take a look at what they F**ked-up.
No apologies or offers to make good. Unbelievable. I'm in the home electronics business and if we F something up... we fix it on our dime with apologies.
My advice... Stay Away... I told a friend who works at another garage and he told me countless horror stories about this place.
A very bad experience... so now the car is sitting out in the street in much poorer shape than when it was brought in... and won't drive and my son is $520.00 poorer and pretty disappointed.
All in all it's a shame because I saw where these guys work on older cars and British cars, and I wanted to develop a long term relationship with this shop, but sadly that is not going to happen. I'm kicking them to the curb!

I went in on the Saturday before New Years, in a pinch.  We needed to travel over the pass and the left windshield wiper wasn't working.  But before I ever had a chance to explain that and plead my case for same-day service, David (I think that was his name) came out and took a look, made a simple repair and sent me on my way.  No charge?  I greatly appreciate that.  But what I really appreciate was how thoughtful, attentive and helpful everyone was.  I trust them.  I'll be back.

Zoe M. | 2012-12-18

Great, caring service. Really helped me with my car problems and will be referring others to this establishment.  When they work on your car, they will give you a free rental car so you won't be stuck.  They had a very cute puppy behind the desk and I felt right at home.

Brian W. | 2012-08-21

These guys are not the cheapest, but they stand behind their work and treat you with respect.  They do a great job when you really need it.  They have been around a long time because they know how to really get the job done.  I highly recommend these guys!

Carina B. | 2012-08-16

I will never go anywhere else!!!!!!!!! For the first time in my car owning life I went to get my oil changed, and that is all they recommended I needed! I expected to go there for my oil change and then be notified of 5 other costly repairs that I wouldn't know if I truly needed to invest in or not.

I really almost cried when they said "Car looks perfect- no other repairs needed" I know I can trust these guys and that they are not interested in joining the club of other mechanics that burn unneccesary holes in your pockets.

I have found my mechanic at Crown Hill Automotive- thank you!

Christina O. | 2012-08-06

I was looking for a shop that was open on Saturdays, because I need my car for work. When I found Crown Hill Automotive on Yelp, I called to ask if they could check out my car that weekend. I was told they'd be happy to look at it on Thursday. They gave me a free loaner car, kept me up-to-date about the repair situation and how long it would take, and treated me better than I have been for a long time at an auto shop.

These guys aren't the least expensive around, but with this kind of service and good repair work I'd recommend them to anyone.

Dezzy D. | 2012-04-03

My car suddenly quit working yesterday (after they were closed) and they already got it back to me in the early afternoon! The guy, Joe, was very friendly & nice and helped me understand things that I didn't. Overall, they did a great job and I'm excited about the quick turn around!

Debra B. | 2012-02-27

Crown Hill Auto is great!  I've been taking both of my cars here from a regular oil change to some serious work and I have been happy with the service.  The staff is very friendly and accomodating.  They also give you a loaner car while yours is being serviced.  I would highly recommend them to anyone!

Sue G. | 2012-02-22

Went here for an alignment. They were very accommodating, even had a loaner car for me so I didn't have to wait for a few hours for my car. The prices seem reasonable, although I did not call all over town to find a cheaper deal. The staff was very nice and friendly. I would definitely take my car here again.

Jaxx W. | 2011-09-01

Brought my car in because it clearly had an oil problem-that wasn't obvious. I drive a 99 Camry and admittedly don't treat it particularly well. The guys and Gal (Jenny) at Crown Hill got my car done in a matter of hours-oil change, broken valve and did some routine maintenance on the battery terminal and checked other things out. I know it needs a break job soon and there's a big rattle in the passenger side front end, which they of course did note but were totally cool with me choosing to wait to do those things due to the expense. I was worried id be going in and finding out the car needed more work than its worth right now so was as pleasantly surprised as anyone can be when shelling out anything over than routine oil change money on a car. I highly reccomend them-they were efficient and very easy to deal with. I'd give them 5 stars because i don't really know if they are "woohoo as good as it gets" but I'm definitel " yay I'm a fan". Its just hard to be as excited about a car as I am about " Staple and Fancy".

Emily F. | 2011-07-21

The best mechanics in town!!  They really care about their customers.  I was dealing with some problems on my car that other mechanics had me coming back over and over again and paying for it deeply.  I brought my car to Jerry and the gang and these guys would not stop until it was resolved.  They even took me to work when I dropped my car off and picked me up when my car was done. The staff and other mechanics are always friendly and helpful. It is hard to find service like this these days from people you can trust.  They have it all!

John D. | 2011-06-08

they performed disgnostics that I did not ask for and charged me for it. I was quoted 1 hour of diagnostics and they charged me for over 2 hours.

Erin W. | 2011-01-29

Had a great experience! I was in the area and thought I would randomly try this place out -- needed to get an oil change, tire rotation, general inspection. They gave me discount because I found them on Yelp, which was a great perk. They didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need, but suggested I replace my air filter. Everyone was super nice, especially Joe, who was the one to help me out. They even offered me some of the pizza they got for lunch!

Friendly, competent, trustworthy folks. I will definitely be going back in the future. Also, I think they have a body shop and sell cars as well? So that might be something to consider if you need to kill two birds with one stone.

Liz W. | 2011-01-15

These guys are awesome!
I have brought my car in twice for repairs.  One minor and one major.  Both times I received excellent service.
They do great work with a very fast turn around time.  The prices are competitive and they will work with you to determine what absolutely needs to be done now and what you can put off until later.
Rather than trying to sell you on services you don't need they really seem to have the customers best interest in mind.  Very refreshing these days.

I would absolutely bring my car back to them for any future services and would highly recommend them.

Dave P. | 2010-11-04

Jerry and Ron run a great company. They have worked on several of my cars and always do great work. They are also experienced in streetrods, classics and foreign aswell. They know their cars!

They are always fair with pricing and never try to upsell. A loaner car is available and location is very easy to find. Parking can be tight however.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these guys for any auto repair you have.

Susan P. | 2010-10-15

Jerry has been repairing our family's cars for years.

Trust. That's what you want in a mechanic. I know that if Jerry says we need to have some work done, it really is necessary. They tell us when something can wait.

Their oil change is a bit pricier than a quick lube place. But the service is fair, thorough and honest. They do more than change the oil. And they don't put extra parts or service.

I've taken my car to places Jerry recommends for additional service - body work, specifically. I can trust his referrals.

When I go to Crown Hill Automotive, it's like having my brother work on my car. Jerry wants to tinker until everything is right, and he's looking out for my best interests!

Cathy R. | 2010-09-16

I just bought a '59 Nash Metropolitan and on chance brought it in to these guys since I had seen British cars parked in their lot before. They're AWESOME. Super upfront about price and what they're doing, and incredibly skilled in dealing with older cars. They've done a TON of work on my car, and it comes with a 3-year guarantee!!!! Plus, they've had me bring it back by a couple of times to check on how things are going and have made other adjustments/minor repairs for no charge.

They aren't cheap, but they're incredibly honest and their workmanship is top-notch. Free loaners, too! And it's always a blast checking out the antique cars scattered around their lot.

xo to Crown Hill Automotive!!

TJ M. | 2010-01-25

These guys are great.  They work on my old '89 Jeep and it always comes back running great.  They fix things right the first time. Yeah they might not be warm and fuzzy, but I don't want that in my auto shop.  I'll get that elsewhere.  I want my car fixed and at a reasonable price.  And  they do have loaners if you need it.

John D. | 2009-09-09

The guys here remind me of the obsessive mechanic in Seinfeld... kind of grouchy and defensive about servicing your car and the cost.   Don't expect a smile and handshake with your service.

Bottom line - if you're needing your land rover repaired it'll cost you the same as taking it to the dealer, so you might as well take it there and get the perks they offer (car wash, loaner car, waiting room, a smile or two).
