Customer Service and quality work and expediency

I brought my Jaguar S-Type here because it had a knock in the engine. I left it with them for the two weeks I was on vacation. In the middle of my vacation they wrote me to say I had a knock in the engine and the only resolution was to replace the entire engine at a cost of over $12,000. I declined to do that because, well, I'm not insane. When I returned home to pick up my car they told me exactly what I told them before I went on vacation -- that I had a knock in the engine. They told me to take the car home and have a local mechanic take a look at it. Maybe he could figure out what was wrong. For this sage advice I was charged almost $350 -- that included an hour's worth of computer time and a spin around the block. They had my car for two weeks, couldn't figure out what was wrong with it, recommended a new engine to fix it, and ended up telling me exactly what I told them when I brought it in -- that I had a knock in the engine. Totally incompetent. Totally unhelpful. Thieves and hacks. I'd give them a negative star rating if I could.
