My husband gets his car serviced here and has as long as I've known him.  Because of this, I've had to do many drop-off's and pick-up's and I've just not been super impressed.  The service area looked old and kinda stained.  
The part that gets me the most is that his car is never ready when they tell him it will be and we've had to push back our schedules or be late to events several times because of this.  I mean, it's awesome they wash your car for you when you have service, but not awesome that it takes 30 minutes...what are they doing, scrubbing it with a toothbrush?  Also, he had an attachment on his dash once when he took his car in to have it serviced and, we don't know what happened, but when the car came back, the electronic attachment was busted.  They refused to take blame, although it was clearly working when we went in and clearly not working when we went out.  That being said, they make the repairs they say they are going to make and have been  honest about costs, with no hidden surprises.  I'd give it 2.5 stars if that were allowed, as it isn't quite a neutral 3 for me, but isn't bad enough to be a 2.

Perhaps I have been spoiled by the service I receive at Ken Garff Honda downtown, which is A+.  I wouldn't worry about taking your car to Salt Lake Valley Buick GMC, but I wouldn't go out of your way to get there either.

I called Salt Lake Valley Buick GMC the week of 23 April 2012 to find out prices for a tire rotation and oil change.  Carlos, the service advisor, said my year truck required a synthetic blend oil and therefore had an increased cost for oil change.  We discussed the "requirement" for a synthetic blend and he was very confident in his knowledge.  Later, I looked in my owner's manual to verify his claim and he was wrong.  I'm not sure if this was an honest mistake or not, but certainly appears to be a shady attempt to sell me something I didn't need.

I decided to go ahead and make an appointment for just a tire rotation before I consulted my owner's manual.  Once I arrived at the dealership, I pointed out his error with the oil requirement and his was reaction was, to my surprise, rude and as if he was annoyed.

This was my first visit to this dealership and will be my last.  Carlos acted as if I was annoying him when I asked him any type of question.  After someone gives me bad information, any further information needs to be given to me with documentation to prove it is the correct information.  Carlos lost my trust in his inability to simply say, "I'm not sure, but I will find out."  Instead it seemed he just tried to make up information to appease me.  His product knowledge was completely unsatisfactory.  It was very obvious he had no idea what he was talking about.
