Reviews on Prestman Auto

Just bought my second car from Prestman auto.   Alex took all the time I needed to help find the car I wanted.   I'll continue going back for years.  The first salesman that sold me the first car 2 years ago even recognized me and showed me my picture on the wall.

Last month I was looking for a 2015 Sienna XLE with All Wheel Drive for my wifey.  Turns out: that's a fairly pricey automobile, but it's hard to locate any used 2014's with low mileage, in the color she wanted and with AWD.

Fortunately, I found exactly that 1500 miles away from our home in Kansas City at Prestman Auto in Utah -- with only 13,000 miles and priced at least $12,000 less than a new one!  And it was at a dealership that had 206 out of 213 people highly recommending them, with a 4.8 average out of 5 stars possible on Cars.com .  That level of satisfaction across the board is practically unprecedented.

I talked with the sales manager Marshall on the phone, who was extremely helpful in getting me all the details on the minivan.  He then had one of his best sales associates, Travis Cheesman, follow up with me and continue to help.  As it turns out, both are top quality folks I'm completely happy to recommend to others.

I flew out to Salt Lake City, and Travis met me at the airport.  "The guy looks like Leonardo DiCaprio during his Titanic years" was my first thought.  Throughout the entire process and the followup after I got back home, Travis has continued to earn my respect and trust as someone I can confidently refer to others.  I thoroughly enjoyed meeting Dave in finance as well, who got me a Platinum level warranty to cover me through the first 100,000 miles.

Some might ask how Prestman can offer deals good enough to fly 1500 miles and spend a week's vacation driving home through Colorado (which was totally fun, by the way...  And if you haven't ever skied Utah, that's an added bonus!)   They take a car that has been in an accident, and restore it to factory specifications and like-new condition.  In my case the Sienna XLE had only been hit from behind, so they replaced everything damaged to be like new, and put it through a 150 point inspection to make sure everything is running great.  Yes, it has a branded/salvage title, and that can of course affect the eventual resale value -- but I fully expect it to run every bit as good as any other car.  And if anything does go wrong I have a 100,000 mile warranty to cover me, while still saving many thousands over anything else comparable out there.

This actually marks the FOURTH time I've been involved with a branded/salvage title car.  The first was my 2003 Infiniti, which I got in 2004 -saving almost half the cost of new.  Drove it without a hitch for 8 years.  My son now enjoys owning it, and it continues to drive flawlessly after over a decade.  The second was a Toyota Camry for another of my sons several years ago.  He still loves his Camry, on which he saved many thousands.  Never a problem there either.  And, we helped a friend get a branded title Acura TL for a totally impressive savings.  It too has been an ideal car in every way.

I mention this because I actually have far MORE confidence in purchasing a branded title car from a trusted dealership like Prestman over purchasing from an individual, for example.  The individual seller will not have put the car through a rigorous 150 point inspection and repair process... and he is not going to back me with a 100,000 mile "good as factory" warranty covering anything that might go wrong with the car.  And buying from him or any other dealership will still cost me many thousands more!

In summary:  I will unhesitatingly recommend the team at Prestman Auto to anyone wanting to get an awesome deal.  They are a great bunch of guys I will tell friends to look to FIRST, the next time they are shopping for a car.

I made an account to write this review, so I hope it helps you.

Sounds good right? 2011 Subaru impreza with 43000 miles for $11000. From a dealer that "are specialists in rebuilt titles" but when you look at the Carfax, its a clean title. You call the DMV, its a clean title, you see the actual title itself, and it's a clean title. This must be your lucky day!

"No air bags deployed, no frame damage was done."

Least that I was told, but when I took this car to get a diagnostic from a mechanic (Dwight's auto repair) some very big red flags came up. The brakes are 90% gone, the door has very clearly been damaged and it looks like some one tried to take the dents out, the entire front driver side has been rebuilt, The rims were spray painted to hide a crack that had been repaired, the frame HAS been damaged and moved back into place.

This place is very shady, it seems like they specialize in buying cars who appear to have little to no damage on a Carfax report, (because that's what most people will base their decision on) fixing them up, and selling them at a too good to be there price tag. Please be careful when shopping here.

Most of the reviews here also seem fake, constantly using the name of the sales person (that person making a fake review to make themselves look good?) and only saying slight variations of the same story.

The staff wasnt the best, and presented themselves with a very douche bagish attitude twords my concerns with the car. I don't know if I was lied to, or maybe they honestly just didn't know what that particular cars story was.

Travis was the most friendly, honest and helpful car dealer. It was fast and easy, I love my new car! Thank you!

Easy to work with, let me watch the game while I waited. Friendly.
Trevor Durfey was very pleasant to work with

THE NO DICKER STICKER IS MEANINGLESS. I wasted 2 days at Prestman Auto, believing I knew the price of each car was posted...on the car. That is what I was told. That is what the website says. One price, no dicker.

But the "No Dicker Sticker" is just BS. They pull out the old tricks after they think they have you in the bag. Once you get your deal sheet, you will find out that you are going to pay an additional 1500 to 2000 for nothing but BS fees.  Doc, destination, and "license" fees even if the car is never going to be licensed in the country, little alone the state. 45 day permit is less than $100, not $2k. Avoid, or know going in that the price on the windshield is meaningless, add at last 5% or more, and force them to detail what the charges are.

Untrustworthy and sales persons lacking knowledge. Was lied to about damage and almost sold a lemon. Visit anywhere else but here if you want a car that works and if you want reliable sales people.

What a difference these guys are making to the car buying experience. When we first walked into Prestman Auto, we were happily greeted by Jeff Wright, one of the sales guys at Prestman. Let me tell you, this is not one of those "what do I have to do to get you into this car today?" type dealerships. They have no-haggle pricing, and it really is no pressure.

Jeff was great in understanding our needs and made sure he was showing us the cars that worked for us. We came in looking for a Honda Pilot, and we left with the perfect car, a Honda Pilot. Jeff showed us what we needed. He took the time to make sure we really knew how buying a "branded title" worked, and made sure we were comfortable with that process. He was very very patient, and super friendly. He even made sure to keep our four-year-old entertained, and sugared up (nutter-butters and red vines).

There were a few things we needed done with the car before we took it off the lot, and Jeff made sure the service department was on the same page we were. He really took care of us.

Dave in financing was fun to do the paperwork with, and we really felt like we were valued customers. Would we buy another car from Prestman Auto? Yes! And if you go in there, make sure you ask for Jeff...you will leave happy and know you were taken care of.

We had the best experience at Prestman Auto, it was so great to work with Tracy & Alec as they helped my family find the perfect car! They worked with us in our wants and needs. They didnt try to push us into any old car, they took the time with us to make sure it was perfect! They are always smiling, super friendly and I loved working with these guys. David helped me with financing the looking over the warranty options. I really appreciate the time he took with me to break it down line by line so I really understood everything. I think buying this car from Prestman Auto was one of the best experiences I have ever had buying a car! I would definitely recommend friends and family to go to Prestman Auto!

Best experience I've had in a long time. Tracy Ball answered all questions I had and addressed any concerns. Super clean place, and friendly staff. Completely recommend Prestman Auto!

I bough a 2005 chevy trailblazer on saturday night  (01/11/2014) when I was almost home the engine light come on, so I wanted to return it 1st thing Monday morning( 01/13/2014), but they wouldn't take it back, because as soon as the vehicle leaves their lot is mine, "You bought it as is no warranty", they offer to fix the problem, I had to go back twice because the engine light kept coming back on, the temporary permit that they gave me was about to expire and they wanted me to go back to do another inspection because there was something wrong  with the one they had done, so I finally decided to file a claim with the dmv enforcement and that's what saved me because the dealer has 45days to gave you your plates and registration and if they fail to comply . they have to take your car back and give you all your money back minus the 0.45 per mile for using the car , I don't care that I lost $600 because I dont' have to worrry about that junk car, this car  is on sale again beware of the odometer because it reads 65,000 and the ads says 104,000 I ran a carfax report and back in 2010 the odometer reading was 104,000, Who know a what the actual mileage is

Bought my Ford Focus from Todd and we love it. The experience was fun and friendly. I was treated with respect and was well informed of the branded title cars they sell. I would recommend buying from Prestman to anyone!

Enjoyed working with Tracy.

Diddo on the above reviews. Don't be fooled by the nice showroom and no pressure attitudes. These guys are typical used car salesman. Take everything they say as BS. They made me many promises but once they had the money I didn't exist. Don't fall for their sales pitch where they show you a bunch barely damaged cars and then say that they don't have any of the car you are looking at. Trust me the car your interested in was hit harder than any of the pictures they show you. The insurance company totaled it. That should tell you something. They are incapable of repairing anything right. If there is something wrong with your car they will only make it worse. Buyer beware.

Prestman Auto is the real deal! We travel led 369 miles (one-way) to pick up our car. I inquired about my 2011 Lexus IS 350 online & Jay called me back & answered all of my questions.  One of the reasons we choose Prestman was because of their competitive pricing. We paid 13 thousand less than we would have in our state. Jay test drove the car prior to us arriving and reported his finding s. Which was greatly appreciated
He also had the car washed & detailed for us as well. Once we arrived he gave us the keys and told us to "enjoy the test drive!"  He allowed us to test drive the car by ourselves.  Which was great because we were able to have a thorough test drive. If you've ever taken a test drive with a dealer you'll know they want to take you on a short drive, one which they dictate & then rush you back to the dealership to sign on the dotted line.  Well, not here. They are very thorough,  their communication is excellent as well. We had a couple of hiccups,  but when I called they were taking care of immediately.  I would highly recommend Prestman & when it is time for DH to purchase a new car we will be going back. Compare? I'm sure you will see the value & we become a happy customer as well! Happy shopping.

P.S. We've had the car for almost 4 months now & we are still as happy as the day we drove it off the lot!

I don't know why there are such negative reviews for this place!

My wife and I have bought several cars over the last several years and have never had a better experience than we did with Prestman Auto!

Todd, Marshall, and Tracy went out of their way to accommodate us and our needs. We drove away with an amazing deal that saved us literally thousands! This truck will be perfect for our family.

If buying a car with a branded title worries you, just buy a warranty, they're relatively inexpensive and will give you some peace of mind while you drive away. Trust me the money you save will make up for more than enough if you do buy a warranty; which you're better off buying with a used car anyway!

Bottom line is, if you want a smokin' deal on a kickin' car buy from these guys! Or if you like getting the run around feel like another number customer, go to any other major car dealer on state street, I'm sure they'd love to take as much money as they can get from you.

I would highly recommend going in to buy your next car or truck here... I am!

Went with my girlfriend, to help her pick out a car. Tracy couldn't have been nicer, he was very patient in explaining the type of cars they sold and the options available. When I am in the market for a vehicle I will definitely go to Prestman first.

Vida A. | 2013-10-18

Sold me two lemons years ago and i will never forgive him.  Both cars had been in terrible accidents but he cleaned the title some how.  Jeep Wrangler lost its wheel on the freeway easily could have killed somebody.  Dishonest business practice.  I cant believe he is still in business.

Rachel C. | 2013-10-07

I'm so glad I found Prestman Auto. If you like to drive nice cars but don't want to waste your money this is your hook up! I bought a Lexus from them three years ago that had a rebuilt title and it was just like buying a brand new Lexus. It never had any problems and really is the way to go. It saved me thousands of dollars and I had no problem selling it when I was ready for an upgrade. I recently sold the Lexus (after listing it for only three days) and came back to Prestman Auto for my second car.  The salesman aren't going to try to pressure you and can really help you find what you are looking for.

Had a very enjoyable visit to Prestman
Auto. Jay and Tracy couldn't have been more helpful. They were very nice and polite. They had a beautiful selection of cars. You didn't feel like they were trying to push any particular car on me. My friend was the one that ended up purchasing a car. It was a flood damaged car that they had received the night before. They were extremely accommodating in pushing the car to the front of the line and getting it ready to go. We ended up walking out with a car. The car has been great thus far and the dealership made sure we understood that any problem that arose to bring it back to them so they could fix it. There was a couple things we noticed on the car and they went on and let us take it but scheduled a time for us to bring it back and have it all fixed by them. It was an enjoyable experience and I will consider them again in the future.

These guys are flat out dishonest. They deal in salvaged titles and are selling cars bought from out of state where they then bring them to Utah and retitle them as "Branded Title". There is no way to value their cars and they create very inflated prices for cars that you cannot resell for anywhere near the price they list because it is not a clean title. Beware!

Furthermore, their salesmen are so sketchy. In a recent transaction where a car was agreed upon, conditions of sale, trade-in, etc, I received a call saying that it was sold "somehow". Wow, not sure how that could happen other than complete dishonesty.

You will not save money by buying from these guys. You will be WAY better off using a reputable company that deals in clean titled cars with an honest approach.

I've been looking for a car for a long time and occasionally would see something that Prestman that caught my eye, however, when I read the online reviews I thought, "sounds too good to be true - seems like the reviews were written by friends and family members." Then in February I found an Audi S4 come up on KSL.com and called to get more information. I was impressed by Tracy Ball who fielded my call and told him I'd be up to drive the car in 45 minutes.
The test drive and buying experience was just fine, although we had to wait a while for the paperwork because they were busy.

After finishing the paperwork, Tracy told me to pick out a couple of Prestman T-shirts from the two racks they have on the floor while his guy detailed the car. When it was ready, he gave me the keys and I was off. The first thing I noticed when I got in the car is that the detailer must have thought "detail the Audi" meant to take the floor mats out of the trunk and put them in the car! The console storage was dirty, dust all over the interior and in the ash tray, floor not vacuumed. It had not been cleaned, much less detailed! I was so excited I didn't care - plus it was right at closing time.

As I got on the freeway, I noticed that the MMI system (navigation/stereo) on the Audi had gone dark and wouldn't boot back up when I pushed the power button! "NO!" I immediately called Tracy and he said, "Don't worry, bring it back Monday morning and we'll take care of you." For whatever reason, the system started working on its own Sunday afternoon. On Monday I decided to take the car to the Audi dealer to have them go through it . The Audi mechanic pointed out some things about the car that I should have noticed had I not been so enamored with it. For instance, the car was covered with overspray and orange peel, there was a spot where the body shop buffed through the paint all the way to the metal (I actually noticed this before test-driving it), there were several runs in the paint, the sunroof was installed crooked, the doors were not aligned, and one of the parts was missing from the front end (the car had been damaged in the rear). The tires were also rubbing on the fenders because it had been lowered too much and there was a hole in the muffler. Upon further inspection on my own, I could see the obvious sloppy work with body bolts missing and a water leak into the body cavity where they stereo amp is housed (rear driver's side - where the car had been wrecked), etc.

After getting the bad news, I immediately called Tracy and he again reassured me that they would totally take care of me and to bring the car up with the list of stuff that the dealer found and they would fix it all. My wife took it to them later that week and left it with them for a week. They sent her home with a nice Acura loaner, which I thought was very classy! After talking to Tracy and finding that his mechanic had taken care of everything, I went back to get it, I discovered right away that they had not buffed out the paint to remove the overspray and it was still not detailed. They did straighten the doors, lifted it a bit so the tires don't rub, and the sunroof doesn't leak.

Tracy wasn't there the day I picked it up, so I called him the next day and told him that the paint hadn't been taken care of and it had still not been detailed at all. He said he would talk to his guy and find out what was going on and to bring it up and they would get it right. I happened to be in SLC a few days later on a Friday and went to drop it off. Unfortunately, his guy was gone for the day and they didn't have a loaner. I couldn't leave it and so I determined that I would bring it up from Utah Valley that next Saturday. However, after thinking about what my time is worth (and the time of the other person who would have to take me up there, bring me home, and take me up there again 4 hours later) I decided I would be better off to have the car detailed at a local car wash. The paint was so bad that the detailer at the car wash had to do what's called "gray barring" to remove the overspray and orange peel and get it buffed and waxed. They discovered when they did that that the body shop failed to Clear Coat the inside of the door wells, so they cannot be waxed/buffed/shined and will always be dull and rough. They also showed me where one of the rims had a big ding in it that had been filled with some sort of weld and then spray painted with some cheap paint. (I can't believe I didn't see that. It is so obvious now!) They had a guy working on the car for 10 hours with two helpers and charged me $361.55 - they gave me a huge discount because my son used to work there.

Bottom line: I like the Audi and am disappointed in myself for not seeing the shoddy body work. Don't go "ga-ga" over anything on their lot and don't be deceived by the buying experience or the pretty showroom. Check the body work very carefully and if you don't know what to look for take someone who does!

Are you kidding?  Bought a new Audi here a few months ago and they still haven't paid me for my trade-in.  Making excuses about the check.  They owe me $1500 and haven't paid me for 3 months. Dishonest!  Neve buy a car here!!  Shady used- car salesmen.
