History

Established in 1934.

Henry Day Ford began in 1934 as the Henry S. Day Company, a small gas station in Draper, Utah. The company expanded to include a Studebaker franchise and in 1954 became a Ford dealer. Henry Day Ford moved in 1968 to 3899 S. Redwood Rd to provide better service and selection. Mike Day, President, began working at the dealership as a lot kid in 1964. He purchased the dealership in 1987 from his father and continues to stress the Day family values of high standards, personalized service, and a genuine concern for satisfying the needs of every guest. In 2001 Mike Day's son, Jeremy, began overseeing the day to day store operations as the general manager. The future for Henry Day Ford took another leap forward when the contruction of a new dealership on 3500 South in the old Fred Meyers building (4091 West 3500 South) was started in April of 2006. Our new facility opened in September of 2007. The new dealership was awarded Ford Motor Company's "Golden Shovel" for innovative design.

Go anywhere but Henry Day Ford! We purchased a new 2013 F350 truck with service plan. We took it in for its 5000 mile service and were told the next day, that a ghost dropped the truck off the service lift in the middle of the night. Within a few days we were told that truck would be replaced due to the extensive damage. The truck was ordered, but after several days the GM said it would cost $1,500.00 to get us into the new truck and we agreed, but a couple of days after that, he called and told us must take the damaged/repaired truck back in a repaired state and they would accept that damaged/repaired truck as a trade in on a new truck. In the end it would cost us $12,500.00 out of pocket to replace the old truck. We have tried to resolve this in a meeting with the GM and Owner. In that meeting, we were told that nothing would be in writing and we would have to trust them on the $12,500.00 quote, but the GM assured us he knew that a new truck was our intension before we ever dropped it off.
Its now been over 3 months since they dropped it and we still don't have it repaired.
Long story short...I think we are taking it in the shorts on this deal.
The first time we met with the GM, he shook my hand and told me "You will be 100% happy when we're done"
We will only be happy if you go somewhere else.

A good measure of quality business is how they deal with adversity and trouble.

Took the wife's Explorer to Henry Day for some electrical issues we were having (note to Ford Explorer designers: how about a little less crap on the battery???!?!). All was well and good with the repairs needed but somebody was struggling with driving and destroyed the front bumper on my wife's car while backing it out of the work station.

So what does Randy and the staff at HDF do?  They face the problem.  Immediate phone call letting me know somebody screwed up and they want to do everything they can to make this "painless."  They put the wife in a rental (of her choosing) and kept us informed every step of the way while the body shop did the necessary fixes and ordered the correct parts.

It took about a week to get it fixed but a.) they called regularly with updates and b.) wanted to make sure we were happy through the whole process.

We were.  We'll definitely be back.

I was driving north on 224 out of Park City when a car driving West rolled through a stop light. I had to swerve to dodge the car (which was unable to accelerate) and ended up spinning off the side of the road. I cranked the side of my car and had the alignment totally thrown off. I had the car taken to Henry Day to get checked out.

At Henry Day, the people were nice enough but the charges were absurd. I had a Progressive claims rep check the damage that was done (he got to look at all of the parts) and he informed me that Henry Day was charging almost twice as much as comparable service centers in the valley would charge ($2,400 vs. $1,300). They did a seemingly nice enough job but it took them 2 days which struck me as excessive.

A few weeks later, I had a "CHECK ENGINE" light pop up. I swung by the service center and they told me that they were "too busy" and that I'd have to bring it back at a later date. So I drove 2 minutes down the road to the Pep Boys who ran a quick diagnostic, determined that my gas cap simply needed to be tightened, and were able to resolve the problem free of charge.

Henry Day is over-priced and the staff are generally pretty arrogant. They claim that they're the only people well-qualified to perform service work on Ford cars (mine is an '06 Explorer) but that is not true. Your best bet is finding a different mechanic you can trust (swing by somewhere that is conveniently located to where you live or work to get an oil change when your car is running well and see what you think). An extra $30 oil change is WELL worth it given what you can save.
