I really, really hate writing such an awful review, but they leave me no other choice.

Every time I've come here, either for parts or service, it's been a nightmare. Unhelpful staff, insane prices, and generally rude all around. Sales may be different, but once you own a car, you'll spend a majority of your time with the Service Dept, and that's where the problems are I've encountered.

I had avoided this place for years until recently, when my wife had my car worked on. In short, the key for the car's switch blade feature had broke and she wanted to get me a new key. In the process of this, while in their shop, the ignition cylinder lock started binding up. Prior to this I'd had no issues, and I noticed once I got the key it was cut "rough", like the cutter was dull. There were metal shards/flakes all over the key. Whether it was just the worst timing ever for the failure, if the metal shavings got in there and caused a problem, if the mechanic did something wrong, or a combination of the above happened I'll never know. However, how they handled it is where it really falls off the rails.

First, they let my wife know about the issue. They then accused her of bringing the car in faulty to "blame them" about the issue. Classy. They also started asking "Why did you bring the car in if the key was working?" and "The technician didn't know why the car was in the shop". Apparently, they don't understand how to write/fill out work orders in their service department.

So at the end of the day, my wife spent hundreds of dollars to get me a new key, only to have my car immobilized a day later (which again, may or may not be their fault; the car is 10 years old). Being apologetic, or offering to fix it at cost would have gone a long way for good will. Instead, they accuse my wife of trying to "pull a fast one".

I drive in and speak to them, and they give me the same thing (without the accusations at least). They then tell me the dealer has to swap out the part as it needs a software upgrade? That sounded like BS, so I called the Volvo Dealer up in Austin and they confirmed it's a purely mechanical part and any independent mechanic can replace the part, but you do have to order it from the dealer to match your keys.

I can't stress enough how, in general, dealerships are damned expensive, but service should be of the utmost importance. I recently bought a new car at the VW Dealership and the experience (both in service and sales) has been amazing. If I drive up to Austin/Georgetown and go to those Volvo dealerships (which I do), the experience is amazing. I honestly don't know why Volvo Center in San Antonio is so bad, but it just is. My advice is: avoid these jokers and go elsewhere. It's a damn shame they're our only choice in San Antonio.

This place is an absolute joke, a disgrace in fact. I recently purchased a used car from the Volvo Center, and although I am in 100% understanding that I purchased a USED car and a USED NON VOLVO, but the customer service I was provided was the most unprofessional and worst experience I have ever undergone. Just by setting foot onto the lot and speaking with a sales rep brought me 10 calls practically begging for my purchase within the first week. And might I add, once the deal was finalized, which absolutely bothered me that I found the best deal from this dealership, they seemed to misplace my phone number apparently since they had the hardest time returning any of my calls once I needed a favor. I am absolutely furious with my sales rep along with the most arrogant sales manager, Nick,  to exist. I am so fed up and all I want is for people to save their aggravation and take their money elsewhere. I love my USED NON VOLVO , but I absolutely without a doubt would NEVER RECOMMEND THIS DEALERSHIP.

Great cars.  Terrible dealer service dept.

I love my XC90, but the service dept is among the worst I've ever experienced.  Work is slow and customer service is frosty - reps ignore you when you pull up the service drive and generally act like they are doing you a favor for just doing their job.  Reps often do not call with an estimate on repairs and status of work.  I can't recall how many times I would drop my car off for an oil change at 8 a.m. and then call to check on my car at 4:30 p.m. and have the rep respond, "you want it back today?!?"  All this while paying top dollar.

This Volvo dealer charges $120 to diagnose any problem with the vehicle.  So unless you are bringing your car in for scheduled maintenance, be prepared to be ripped off.  I once had to debate with the service rep that I should not be charged $120 to repair a burned out headlight.  

I purchased my Volvo brand new in 2003.  My  experiences with the service dept are not a one-off.

Purchased a car from here and it will be the last time I set foot in the place. I advise you to go elsewhere. Customer Service is great until they have you hooked. They took almost a month to payoff my trade-in and when they finally paid it off they paid what was owed that day which a payment had already been made. Luckily I was watching them like a hawk and called them on it. I had to go in and have them cut me a check for the difference. Then they acted like nothing happened. I had to call numerous times and after no one returned my calls I went to the place. I had to elevate the ordeal to the general manager which only offered an apology. Do not buy here. They haven't a clue how to make and keep there customers happy and it starts from the very top of management.

I have never owned a car that needed as much maintenance work as my XC90 does.  They don't hold their value, and this particular dealership really gouges you when you try to trade in your old Volvo on a new one.  I will never purchase another Volvo, nor will I ever return to this dealership after I finally pay off and sell my suv.

Because I have an older model I am forced to take it to the dealer to get an oil change since none of the other shops carry the filters I need. I scheduled an appointment in advanced and got to the shop early. I walked in and was not greeted for a while. I finally talked to someone and told them I had an appointment and they took my keys. I was told to go wait in the lobby. About 2 hours later I walked to the counter and asked about the status of my car. They said they hadn't looked at it yet and I should continue waiting in the lobby. Another hour passed and the people in the front didn't even know my car was there. I guess the bright red car sitting next to their window didn't raise any questions. Apparently the person who had my keys just left them and didn't tell the shop I was there. They refused to give me a rental car and I missed all of my classes that day.

After this my dad just did everything himself since they are really pricey and can't seem to keep their appointments straight.

Even though I've moved to Austin the service at the dealership isn't much better.

I love my new car but what a greedy stereotypical bunch of lot lizards.  Privacy policy is pitiful -- didn't even go 24 hrs. before I got calls from telemarketers on my cell phone thanking me for purchasing my new Volvo and offering up life insurance, extended warranty, etc.

I love my Volvo. I love it with all my heart & I can honestly say that for a car dealership, these are about the most helpful and honest guys that you'll come into contact with. I'm well aware that a Volvo is almost like a Jeep...there's somewhat of a cult following I suppose and I'm definitely one. Remember when you thought of Volvo and you thought of a box on wheels? I do! Guess what though? That's no longer!

We went in on a Friday evening when it was freezing & didn't think anyone was there to look at a totally different car. I fell in love with a different car and just as I hear the angles sing and see the clouds part from the sky, a very nice salesman was on his way out and advised us that he would be there Saturday if we wanted to come back the following day. After a long talk, we decided to go back and I'm so glad we did.

Yes, we were there for 6 hours on Saturday & it made me super nervous (just as any care dealerships do), but I really feel that we got the best deal possible, as well as a nice salesman & great finance guy. I don't know about you, but there's just something about a nice, "honest" salesman, as opposed to a sleazy salesman that just gives you the creeps. You won't get the creeps here. I promise. I'm creeped out easily ;)

I didn't come across anyone at Volvo Center who wasn't friendly & helpful. I never once felt pressured and there weren't the uncomfortable fights on what we would and wouldn't pay. It was all black and white and everyone was on the same page. This is not easy to say about any car dealership because I know some of us place car dealers in the same place as lawyers (it's not always true). I can't say anything as of yet about the service center, as this is all new to me, so this review is basically strictly on the service you get upon walking in the dealership.

If you're in the market for a car, even if you're not thinking Volvo, give the Volvo Center a try. Not only can I recommend the car, but I can recommend the people and that's saying a lot. Yay Volvo!
