Recent experience at Ancira VW

When I came across a used truck on your site that you happened to have on your lot, I became so interested in it, that I made arrangements to drive down from Austin on a rainy day in order to look at it and possibly buy it.

At about 9 am on January 21, my wife submitted an application on line for financing since we thought it would expedite the experience.

Everyone we dealt with over the phone seemed very above-board and professional, from Karissa to Tony Staten. We were feeling pretty good about the possibility of moving forward with the truck. We arrived, we did the test drive, and we decided that we might want to move forward with the purchase.

All of that came to grinding halt when Tony attempted to show us "numbers". The problem with these numbers was that they didn't show us any details- as in, interest rate, where the financing would be coming from and from the word go, the rolled up monthly cost included an extended warranty (but didn't show what that warranty entailed or what it cost).

The technical term for this is "Smoke and Mirrors". It is what gives car dealerships and salesmen and, in particular, car finance people, a bad rap.

Your team at Ancira needs a wake up call in how to treat people and how to handle "applications".

*The app was submitted at 9 am. Your team knew we were coming.  We even confirmed that we were coming. You had TIME to locate the very best possible deal for your customer and you didn't do it.
*When we decided that we were no longer interested because every piece of information had a gate and a lock on it and Tony couldn't answer questions because "they don't tell him" (insert hands up in a gesture of having no power), people came running out to the parking lot begging us to stay and that we would "leave smiling".
*After standing around waiting on "Mike" in finance to work some sort of magic, we entered into his office only to be treated in such a manner that can only be described as appalling. Knowing that we were already not very happy, Mike thought it was his job to point out that "we wouldn't tell the team what we wanted" and that the reason the interest rate was so high was due to "credit card balances" on our part. When I opted to remain standing, the man made a face and a grimace like my teenage daughter would do! And then had the nerve to say that my standing up "will make it difficult to sign". Yeah - I DIDN'T SAY I WAS SIGNING ANYTHING!  
*Back to the first point...funny how now your team has managed to come up with a deal that is half the interest rate that you tried to shove down our throats two days prior.

I will publish this feedback in every corner of every review site that I can find. I will publish this review so that others do not make the mistake that we did and think that it is possible to have an experience in which one is treated like a person at your dealership. I am a person. My wife is a person. We did not deserve to be treated the way that we were, all in the interest of you moving a car off of your lot. Someday, I hope you and your team realize that it is often the person who doesn't try to sell you a thing, from whom you actually want to BUY something. Quit using smoke and mirror tactics on people thinking that they won't figure it out, but since you probably will, one thing is certain, we will never shop at Ancira motors and we will let everyone know that they are better off elsewhere.

Just stopped by to look at purchasing a GTI, the receptionist told us to sit and wait. Mind you its 2 in the afternoon and completely dead. Sat around for 20 minutes while the sales people are just sitting around looking at us. Decided to leave and purchase elsewhere.

Used car director was very unprofessional, tried to intimidate us and threaten us. We haven't seen anything quiet like it before. We told our primary salesman the amt we were comfortable paying for the car and very clearly stated that price should include your fees and we will pay ttl separate. They couldn't agree to that so we said oka we will look elsewhere and if we decide we need to go up in price we will come back! A couple days later that happened. We emailed a higher offer clearly stating what we would pay for the car and agreed to pay ttl and "exact ttl for the purchase price". Any fees should be negotiated with the car price....of course. Marc our secondary salesman agreed. We brought a cashiers check from the bank. Marc pulled out the purchase sheet and wouldn't you know it: the ttl had hundred of dealers fees! Never disclosedp before. We had specifically said dealer fees need to be discussed in the purchase price of the car so we can negotiate the way we are comfortable, we specifically said in email we agreed to a true, exact ttl. We told Marc we would finish this but our online reviews will tell the story. The used car director came out- he tried to intimidate and threaten us and said "if you plan to write a bad review I won't she'll this car". We knew he was slightly crazy so we just smiled and played along, told him what he wanted to hear so we could leave with the vehicle.
Unfortunately the car wasn't detailed, barely any gas and we weren't shown ANYTHING about how it works. Marc suggested we just do that with a glass of wine. We plan to call many people and leave honest reviews so maybe others will know what to watch out for with this odd business. $25000 is nothing to sneeze at and we are going to make sure everyone knows how they'll be treated here.

I must say, I had the most wonderful experience at Ancira Volkswagen!!!! Rudy Cipriano & Mike Young made my purchase quick & pain free! I had financing approval when I went, but Rudy & Mike got me a much better rate with many many extras & a cheaper payment than my old car! I Was in & out in about 2 hours, driving my brand new 2014 VW Jetta! Thank you ANCIRA VOLKSWAGEN for making my car buying experience a very pleasant one!!!! .......P.S. And they gave us cookies!!!

My review is for the Service Department only...

I've had two services at Ancira VW - both oil & filter changes. I went to 4 different non-dealer garages, all of which couldn't change the oil on my Golf for various reasons. So off to the dealer I trudged. Ancira VW gets the job done fairly quickly...I usually get picked up & they called within a few hours that my car is ready. I have noticed a courtesy shuttle, too, FYI. My car requires synthetic so my oil & filter service is almost $70, but they send coupons in the mail so I saved $30 off my 2nd service, woohoo! So def provide your address to save some money.

I did have a bad experience on my last service. The mechanic, while performing checks and topping off my car's fluids, forgot to screw on the cap to the coolant container. So, the day after my service, the coolant light turns on on the dashboard. I open the hood to see the cap wide open & most of the coolant had splashed out. I called to inform them of this issue...they were very nice & asked if I could come in immediately so they can fix the issue & test the engine to ensure no damage was done. Mistakes are made, I understand, but it was an inconvenience to return unexpectedly. I was, however, pleased with the resolution. The manager, Theresa, is really nice and gave me a free service next time (I also thought I may have lost a personal item there and she kindly combed the place in search of it!). The staff was apologetic, handled the matter swiftly & free of cost. So, I'll return, but lesson learned is don't just drive off,...take a look under the hood & around the car to be sure all is well before driving away.

Overall, not a terrible experience here, though not perfect. We've purchased two VWs from Ancira and the last one come from the factory with interior finish and electrical issues, so not so much their fault. They stood behind the car they sold us, after a bit of coaxing. Be sure to check your invoice for warranty work and at the time of sale- good advice no matter who you are dealing with in the car business.

The only great thing about our experience is that they worked with us on the price, and we truly did get a great price on the vehicle, driving from Houston as it was much worth it. (The car and specs we wanted were very specific, and it was a harder to find color, ect)

After that however, is when the issues came up. We settled on the price of the car and complete OUT THE DOOR price as well, however when we were in the financing office, we ran into several issues. We were approved for 0% APR and applied online through VW Credit. We arrived at the dealership and Victor our sales guy greeted us, he had to go get the paperwork together (which we felt should of been ready for us as he knew we were going to be there first thing Sunday morning, we've discussed this) and that took some time. We filled out the paperwork, and questioned filling out a credit application again, Victor informed us that they needed a hard copy for their records and that our credit would not be pulled again, and trusted their process with VW Credit and their dealership.

We got all the paperwork filled out, wasn't that bad...and waited around a bit and then went into the financing office. This is where we had SEVERAL problems!

The first issue was that they switched financing on us, with their in-house credit union, and that it was not 0%. We caught this mistake right away, informed them and then afterwards they seemed they were not aware of the 0% offer from VW Credit which we were taking advantage of, and wrote it up at 1.9% (that was the 2nd set of papers) we had to get a manager involved and he confirm with Victor, our sales person on the offer that we discussed. We finally got it changed over, and were on our 3rd set of paperwork... we were going through the numbers and they were not matching up to what we had calculated before we even got the dealership, they changed their pricing in the VIN Etching fee, and few other Out The Door Fees, we had to have these adjusted and then were on our 4th set of printed out paperwork (the long sales sheets of everything, it all had to be done 4 (FOUR) times!! Most people would not even read and review these numbers, they just sign, and that is why people get screwed, we had to call out many of the finance persons errors. Before we left home, we had calculated out all the numbers, TTL, monthly payment, selling price, and everything so that we would know and it would match the dealership. They tried to throw in extended warranties and GAP (which is understood, all dealerships will do this) but we declined all that, which they didn't press hard to add those thankfully.

Once we got all that taken care of and finally agreed that things were right, we were ready to take acceptance of the vehicle. When placing the temp registration sticker on the car, we realized the last name was spelled wrong, they said it's changed on the other paperwork and that it would be "Okay" however we insisted on having them reprint it before we left, that took some time and seemed a bit difficult than it should of been.

It was two (2) days later when the real frustration occurred. We received an email from our Credit Report Monitoring Company stating that a new inquiry is on our report.  We logged in and checked to see what it was, and there was an inquiry from "ANCIRA VW" along with the one we assumed and approve of "VW CREDIT". ANCIRA ran our credit on top of already having approval from VW for the vehicle. We were furious as this did not need to happen, and it was an unnecessary pull on our credit.  

We sent our salesman, Victor, and email regarding our experience and concerns. We felt that our credit was pulled under false pretense and asked to have the inquiry removed. Victor called us and said that he forwarded the email we went to management. We received a call from a manager to address this issue.

The manager just brushed this issue off, and when confronted about it further, and how  we wanted them to reverse it, and will report them regarding this, he said that he has a signed form proving they could pull the credit. Yes, true...but, we were told it would not be pulled, and it was for their records, as they had to have a hard copy of the credit application that we filled out for VW Credit.

Overall experience was not great, and the customer service after regarding the credit issue was nonexistent. We again however did receive the price we wanted, and they worked with us on that, not a penny more, but after we agreed on it, once we got there, they did try to increase it with this and that.

With all dealerships, read your numbers, review your terms, everyone makes mistakes, but they made several, which would of cost us our 0% financing, and also to have it with VW Credit, we would of been using their lender, and who knows what interest rate, ect. It happens everyday to many people, protect yourself.

I moved to the city with my 2008 VW Eos. When my mirror fell off I took it in for repair. THey were very nice, promised to order the part, took down my contact info... then fell off the face of the earth. I called and emailed several times with no response. At one point I tried submitting an online form to the sales dept out of total frustration. Since I wasn't interested in a new car, I selected 'none' for the model. I still get emails telling me about special deals on the new 'none' I want.  Really? Wow. I love VW but my experience at this dealer was so bad that when I went shopping for a new car this weekend, I bypassed Ancira and went to Infiniti, where my emails (and texts even!) are responded to courteously and promptly. Pity there isn't an easy way to provide this feedback to VW corprote... of course there is a chance that the apathy attitude stems from the top.
