I wanted to take this opportunity to talk about Texas Auto Pros (TAP) for being, by far, the best experience I have ever had in buying a vehicle.  I wanted to share my story, because if you're looking for an honest, reputable and stand-up used car business to work with that goes the extra mile, I highly recommend this place.


TAP offers a wide selection of used cars and trucks, and can get you anything you basically want as they are at auctions weekly buying and selling.  So, I was looking at used 04-05 Range Rovers and found a few places in Houston that had some in my price range, TAP being one of them.  The first two dealers I met with were, to say, not willing to work with me in any aspect (price negotiation, trade in, service work, guarantees, warranties, etc.).  I then went to TAP, and dealt with their sales rep, Willie.  He was very friendly, courteous, and NOT pushy at all.  When it came time to sit down and talk numbers, they came at me strong:  Offering me top dollar for my trade in (2002 LR Disco), and $1000.00 off their sticker price.  I had to walk away to think about it, and then called back a few hours later.  They still honored their offer to me and I went in the next day to talk with them.  On top of the good numbers, I was also looking to have the truck serviced (wear & tear items such as brakes, rotors, and other parts replaced - they have a service station with an army of mechanics) and a warranty.  When talking with other dealers, they basically told me I was crazy asking for these extra things and that all sales were final - but NOT Texas Auto Pros.  They went out and found a company that would offer a 3 year / 36,000 mile warranty (which I was told by other dealers that NO warranties existed in the marketplace), and agreed to do all labor on the car at no cost as long as I bought the parts. As you can imagine, I was SOLD!  They also were able to find me reasonable financing, and had a very friendly service staff that had a folder prepared for me with all of my signed documents and pertinent information for easy access (very professional). TAP kept the truck for about a month to perform a laundry list of items I had (and order parts, which do take a while for LRs) and allowed me to keep my truck I traded them.  They called me to come pick up the truck, but to my surprise on arrival, the truck was in fact not ready.  One of their techs called in error, so after driving from Austin to pick it up I was pretty upset.  IMO, this is where TAP went above and beyond:  One of their owners, Rob Vehres, immediately came to the dealership (from home, as I got there after hours to pick up the truck) to meet with me about this.  Feeling terrible about what happened, Rob went ahead and ate  1/2 of the repair bill for me, no questions asked!  His main concern was for me (and my long drive from Austin) and my overall satisfaction.  Not too many business owners I know would go above and beyond the call like that.  So, a few weeks later the truck was ready to go, and Rob even took it a step further and did a few extra things on the truck they found, for FREE!  I know I wasn't the easiest customer to deal with, as my standards and expectations are pretty high. But Rob and TAP were up for the challenge and followed through 100%.  Even after all was said and done and taking the truck home; Rob followed up with me a few times more to ask how the truck was doing and wanted to make sure I was satisfied.  NO used car dealership I ever dealt with has done something like that!

***I have had the truck for a few months now, and all in all its a solid machine.  Have to do a few additional things to it (that we didn't discover on our inspections), but as expected, its a used truck and some things do come up when you buy used.***
