Reviews on Momentum Volvo

My name is John Critchlow and I am a disabled Vet, I served in Afghanistan where I was shot in the head. My severence plus years of savings allowed me and my wife to finally purchase our dream car, paying CASH! Momentum has put themselves as a LEIN HOLDER on MY CAR! Said its because they don't trust me because I make "Less than the average customer that can afford this car"...They have refused to release it..ABOSLUTlY REFUSE! They told me "It would be a cold day in hell" and that they are the owners of MY CAR THAT I PAID FOR for 12 months until they release the title...I've worked my butt off to own this vehicle and deserve the title to MY property that I paid for..DONT SHOP HERE! DMV is currently investigating them now for FRAUD. Here is my story and can be found here!!! I am a business owner and Decorated American Hero! Pass this on to your friends!!!!…

I am three Volvos in now and am very pleased to say that I am extremely satisfied with the service I have received at this dealership.
I had bought my first Volvo ( an S40) and used to get it serviced at their sister dealership but because Momentum was closer, I started getting service done here.  I have been working with Jerry since and he's always looking out for me and is very helpful.
Three years ago, I traded in that car and leased a C70 with Steven and because of his service and professionalism, I came back this past month to purchase my third Volvo (an S60) with him and I was happy to see that he offered the same great service that he did three years ago.  He definitely worked to get me in the car I wanted and I am very happy.

I am late doing this review. I hope things have changed there. I had very poor service on my former Volvo. I was without my car for almost 3 weeks. It was very difficult to get my phone calls returned and to even talk to the service manager. They waited over 2 weeks to finally file a case with Volvo themselves. They claimed they repaired the issue, but I never received paperwork on it. The car had this problem that occurred at low mileage, then the front hub failed before that.  Volvo sadly is NOT the car it was in the 80's and 90's. I had another make prior to this car that this dealership serviced. They lied to me about it saying I could run regular unleaded fuel, but then after I had it for 2 years they said NO you will damage it. Could not really tell a difference anyway in regards to fuel economy.  I have yet to set foot in any of their dealerships. Plus.. they are NOT endorsed by the Car Pro Jerry Reynolds. Live and learn.

I purchased a 2013 XC90 from David Ross on November 12, 2012 and I was happy with the price and the free extended warranty.  Fast forward one year to 11/4/2013 and I bring it in for service and Tracy Desormeaux says they won't cover the service until it has 10k miles.  I pay for the service and $50 for the tires to be rotated myself.

Today, I bring it to the Volvo dealer in Plano, TX because it has finally reached 10k miles and I mention that this is the first time it will be having a free factory service.  The dealer is shocked!  They tell me that Momentum should have serviced the car once a year even if it did not meet the minimum mileage requirement.  I told the Plano dealer that Momentum refused to service the car until it had 10k miles.

I also had my tires rotated today at the Plano, TX dealer.  The cost was $25.  That is half of what I paid over one year ago to Momentum Volvo to do that service on this car on November 12, 2012.

I feel like such an idiot for doing business with Momentum Volvo.  I have a 2006 XC90 that I purchased before I moved to Houston and I regularly brought it to Momentum for service.  I am sure I was overcharged regularly.

I will NEVER do business with Momentum or with Sonic Automotive Dealership.

I bought my Volvo XC60 through Travis Thibodeaux on December  6, 2014.  We spoke only on the phone and all the negotiations were done either on the phone or through email.  I found Travis and Thomas Quinlan to be extremely professional and willing to work with me any time they could.  When the time came to come from Austin and pick up the car the experience was excellent.  Travis took almost the whole afternoon to show me the intricate workings of the car and he set up the most important areas that I needed to take the ride back to Austin in a safe and conformable way.  I would definitely recommend Momentum Volvo to any of my friends.

Stay well away from this place.  Arrogant, rude people, and you will get taken .

It's been a good experience. Price is good. Been working with Steven and Eric, Thomas made the deal happen though since he is the manager. Steven is the best salesperson I've ever met. He is totally different from those typical ones you can expect, very friendly and humble. Highly recommended

Poor, poor  parts and service department. There is no way I would go back to these people. Went in for my first time this morning and it will be the last. No one greeted me, Mr. Deleon was not helpful at all, cashier was rude, on and on. I end up telling them it was some of the worst service I have ever experienced and left.

If Yelp would allow it I would give 0 stars.

I can honestly say the only reason why I like coming to get my Volvo serviced... It's because of the awesome waiting area they have! Other than that .. The service reps could use some training and manners!

Staff is pleasant and service is very attentive. I have never had trouble with a loaner car or a longer than provided service time frame.

I am really frustrated with this dealership right now. I had wonderful service when I purchased it, but once I drove off the lot, service was practically nonexistent.  I had a question about my car (specifically about a feature in the trunk regarding the retractable roof), so I called the service department to find out if what I was experiencing was normal, or if I needed to make an appointment for service. This literally would have taken 30 seconds to answer, yet the receptionist said no one was available. She suggested I leave a message on their voicemail, but I should just call later because changes are, no one would return my call. Okay???? So, I decided to send my salesperson an email to see if I could help. Guess what! He didn't respond either! I finally ended up calling another dealership, and like I said before, they were able to answer my question in THIRTY SECONDS, and no service was needed.  Today, I went to the dealership to make up my plates and have them installed. I pulled into the Service drive, and waited in my car for about 5 minutes. No one came out to help, so I walked in. As I walked in, a service person asked me if I was here for service. I said I was just here to get my plates installed, so he pointed me to the reception area to sign for them. I went back outside, and waited for another 5 minutes or so, and no one came out again. I went to talk to the receptionist in the Volvo service area, and she said she would send someone out. I went back out to my car again, and waited for another 5 minutes or so. Then a man pulled up next to me in his new car to have his plates installed. He was greeted right away, and he got his plates put on immediately. All the while, I am being completely ignored! So I go to reception and ask to speak to a manager. Not sure if the person who came to talk to me was the manager, but he did put my plates on right away. I'm not sure if this is normal for this service department, but I don't think it is right to force the customer to actively search for help. As a result of my whole experience, I will NEVER return to this dealership.

Worst dealership in the history of mankind ,, there rude , unprofessional and don't want to work and the reason is , because there the only R.R dealership in Houston ... they have the worst parts department

The salesperson (Gonzo) and his manager were stereotypical sleazy car salesmen.

(1) Bait and switch.  After trying to negotiate down the price of the car unsuccessfully, I relented because of their supposed policy where they do not decrease the price offered. I paid the price at which it was offer.  (In hindsight, unwise.)  When I went to take the car home, it was a different car. They switched the car for a model with less features (no compass, for instance).  The sales person was either genuinely ignorant of the differences (he was not the most knowledgeable, luckily I had done research) or he was intentionally fraudulent.  Regardless, I had to argue with the manager to get the car for which I bargained.

(2) We agreed on a price without consideration of a trade-in. After, I asked if they would buy my old car. They gave me a low ball offer of $750 and said they could not go higher.  I signed the paperwork with the intent of returning the next day to pay for the car.  We sold the old car to a different dealership for $2500.  The next day, the Volvo dealership refused to give me the Volvo unless I paid the $750 difference.  This was outside the contract.  I should have returned the car then since there were already fraudulent twice. (In hindsight, unwise.)

(3) I decided to get a car loan because interest rates were generally low (around 2.5%).  The loan lady "credit officer" did not know anything about the credit terms. She had to google basic answers. Without notifying me and without my permission, she applied for multiple loans, which hurt my near perfect credit score. I only gave her permission to get my credit score and to get one loan.

I generally like the Volvo S60 itself, although the blind spot information system is a waste of money. In hindsight, I wouldn't pay a dime for it. This dealership, however, is fraudulent at best. The other Momentum dealerships may or may not be as bad. I know this issue was pervasive through management as I dealt with two managers.

I brought my 2002 Volvo S40 for an oil change and a check up. All seemed well with the car and I headed home. As I pulled into my driveway and turned off the car I heard an alarming noise in the back of the vehicle. I opened the door and looked back to see that my radio antenna was hanging from the side of the car and the antenna motor was running and trying to pull the antenna back into place. The antenna made scratch marks on the top of my trunk and was hanging, so I pulled the antenna out and threw it in the trunk.

The next day I went back to the dealership and explained to Billy Peterson, the service rep, what had happened when I returned home the previous evening. He said that it was like that before and expected me to just be happy with that.

I argued with him back and forth and simply wanted him have it looked at. He then came back and said the antenna motor wasn't working... which isn't true because I heard it trying to pull the antenna back in the previous night.

I then asked to speak to Billy's manager and refused to leave, as I was not going to expect this dismissive service I was receiving.

Once Billy realized he wasn't going to get off easy he finally drove my vehicle back to the service area, had them put the antenna back on, and buffed the scratches off my car.

To this day the antenna is in it's lowered position and when I turn off my car I can hear the motor run... These people don't give a crap about customer service!

I took an '04 Volvo to Momentum about two weeks ago. The car hadn't been driven in 18 months so I asked them to do a full multi-point inspection along with the recommended 105,000 mile service tune up. Took the car to another mechanic to do the state inspection and a 4 wheel alignment. This mechanic tells me that one of my tie rods needs to be replaced as well as my brakes. I thought this would have been noticed by one of the Volvo techs. The experience I had was good but I expected them to pick up on these additional items.

After hitting up countless dealerships along this trip of highway, I was getting desperate.  Because of the way our insurance works, we had exactly one week to buy a new car, but my hubby could only get Monday off.  That meant that we not only had to shop cars, but had to actually purchase one in that same day.  Stress, stress, stress.

Since the last place we went was just awful.  It had the makings of every bad stereotype of car salesmen imaginable and I still felt icky after being visually assaulted by a man who could've been my grandfather's age.

Anyway.  I give you that background only to couch my review.  I may have enjoyed my experience so much because our salesman didn't ogle me nor did he talk to me like I was an idiot, just because I was a woman looking at cars.  We told him what we were looking for and he showed us the "test" models that were reduced prices, but in perfect condition.  I liked him already.  Then he took us to the back lot.  And that's where we found our baby.

We ended up with the C30 and have fallen in love with it.  It is the size we were looking for and below the price range.  We got to test drive it within minutes and really got to test the important things.  The financial part was fast and easy, they had a nice lounge area with tvs, snacks, and drinks, and everyone was wonderfully friendly.  Did I mention that they also let us drop off our rental car there so I didn't have to go all the way to the Med Center again?

Sure, they share the body shop with the evil Momentum BMW, but I'm willing to forgive that for now.  We got a great deal on our car and were in and out in less time than I thought.
