Reviews on Momentum Volkswagen of Clear Lake

On 2/25/2015, I made an appointment because our Passat 2012 had the engine light on; I arrived on time and the customer rep informed me that it will take 2 hours to repair it; I decided to wait at the waiting room and after 2 hours waiting  the customer rep (Ms. Gloria) told me what I knew: "the engine light is on and it will take 2 MORE hours to be repair" and it  took 1:45 more  hours to be repair; in addition to this, the customer service personnel treated me as they are doing a favor and not providing a services. I paid $494: this is not a favor. BTW: I had the same problem with our Jetta on Dec 2014 and took less than  2 hours to be repair.

We are a Volkswagen person and we've gotten 1 Jetta and 1 Passat from this location and I can say with confidence, that customer service has definitely gone down in this occasion.  I'm not sure if management has changed in the last months, but  I feel  the different.

I decided to find another place to get my VW's repaired and maintenance.

If you need more details, you can reach me at 281-896.9867

I am a Volkswagen person I've gotten 3 Jettas from this location and I can say with confidence that customer service has definitely gone down. I'm a huge fan of the Volkswagen brand I just feel like it's time to find a new location because every time I come here I'm very dissatisfied with the way I am treated as a customer. I'm not sure if management has changed but whatever has happened is definitely affecting the outcome of this location.

I made an appointment with the service department, but upon arriving the next day, they told me that I was not in the system for an appointment. I understand if not everyone has access to a computer, especially a service guy, but a hand-written note would have alerted everyone else that works in the department that they need to make time for an appointment and put it in the system.

Secondly, it took three and a half hours for someone to give me a diagnosis and ask how I wanted to proceed! This is something that should only take twenty minutes tops. Because there was an initial failure of not writing down my appointment, my car was last to get checked? Waiting three and a half hours for someone to come tell me what's going on is not at all acceptable. It shows poor organization and awareness Multiple people came by to talk to me, but I never got actual news on my car until I asked for it, and even then it took a while. I was there from 1:30pm-5:45pm to replace a fuse for the windshield wiper pump and to check the AC.

The people were all very friendly and accommodating, but sadly that can not make up for the way things went.

Nothing against this dealership and it's staff but my Volkswagen is the biggest piece of crap ever. I have an 09 Jetta, Wolfsburg edition, that I got new in 08 and it has been nothing but trouble. I am on my second engine and my second ac compressor. The engine was under warranty thankfully but the ac compressors are about $1500 to fix and I was told that it will go out about every 3 years because it is made for German climates, not Houston heat. I hear that it is a German car that was poorly assembled in Mexico. The windshield wipers are very cheap and have a short life. The headlights and brake lights are always going out and have a short lifespan and recently my right rear brake light completely stopped working. The ac vents fell apart shortly after my purchase, the car leaks oil and engine coolant which adds up after you have to refill it several times. The entire car as a whole is just a piece of crap and I do not recommend a Volkswagen to anyone after my experience with this new one that came with so many problems.

Edit: I had a manager contact me as a result of this review and offer to make things right and set up a test drive. Unfortunately I have already purchased a new vehicle elsewhere but I do appreciate the attempt to correct this and have upped the number of stars to reflect the response.

I tried to go this dealership on August 2nd to get some information on an upcoming car purchase I am planning on making in December with the intention of setting up a test drive and discussing pricing/trade in on a GTI. I was at the dealership somewhere between 30 and 45 min and wasn't acknowledged or greeter ONCE by an employee. There was multiple opportunities for a salesman to initiate contact with me but I was ignored by the ones I saw on the lot.

I managed to find the GTIs and see what they had in stock, and went inside hoping someone would offer assistance. When I went inside I noticed 3 employees that I suspect were salesman laughing and joking around in a sales office that noticed me walking in but didn't greet or acknowledge me. I ended up standing around for 10 or 15 min inside before I came to the realization that the salesmen inside didn't have any intention of helping me (even though one of them was starting at me for several min, and many salesman walked by me)

This is pretty unacceptable in my book. While I still am interested in test driving or potentially purchasing a GTI I'd rather drive across town to a dealership that is interested in helping me then give this dealer any of my money or time.

Excellent sales staff. I was greeted as soon as I walked onto the car lot. All of my questions were answered in a clear and straight forward manner.

I had a fantastic car-buying experience with this dealership last night. I felt relaxed and never felt pressure or like I was being taken advantage of. If you are looking for a new car, I would recommend them and time!

Dale M. | 2013-07-11

They were helpful from start to finish. I purchased from them and would recommend anyone else looking for a car to have a great buying experience like I did at Momentum VW.

Justin Robert communicated with me right away from the start all the way through to the end. He was able to work with my situation to make a purchase possible. I truly appreciate it!

So I went to Clearlake VW to look at a used Honda they had on sale. The sales people did not know anything about the vehicle and confused a Toyota with a Honda. I liked the vehicle and wanted to make a deal to but the car. They would not lower the price much so they called over the main manager. He was a total JERK. He came in with an attitude telling me that he cold not fix the price. I discussed the outrageous dealer fees they had quoted me and he got upset and told me that he was not ripping me off. He then proceeded to tell me that we were obviously not going to come to a agreement and that we should each go our seperate ways. I agreed with him an walked away. I could not believe that a "Manager" had treated me like that. Its unfortunate that people like that ever make management positions. I have never been treated soo poorly at a car dealership and I have been to many!

So I get a computerized robotic call from Clear Lake VW telling me that my Passat TDI is due a factory recall for glow plugs.  I contact them on a Friday afternoon to make an appointment for Monday.  Very polite and courteous service writer sets me up for 1:00pm the following Monday.  I asked if I could wait on my car or should I plan to leave it and he replied that it would only take them about 2 hours to complete the task.
Monday I show up on time and they take my car into the bay immediately.  Again great service and very courteous service writer.  After waiting approximately two and half hours the service writer finds me in the customer waiting area to tell me that they ran into a slight problem and that VW had approved a rental car for me as they would need to keep the car.  "GREAT" I problem.
I call on luck.
I call on luck...seems that they were waiting on parts and he explains to me that they broke something off in my engine and would need to remove the "head".  Now that is much more than I expected to hear and now, of course, I am wondering if my car will be the same again.
The next Wednesday I luck
I call on the following Thursday (9 days into this ordeal) and he tells me I can pick up my car on Friday.  "Super" I say and thank him.
Friday I drive to the dealership, the courteous writer explains to me what they had done and I take my car.
I drive 12 miles to an appointment and get out of my car to hear someone telling me that oil is leaking from under the car.  Yes....massive oil leak.  I open the hood to find that the oil filler cap is gone and when I try to pull the dipstick to check the oil level the entire assembly comes out of the engine block.  By the way.....the oil leak is coming from the other side of the engine.
Back to the dealership I go.  They give me the same rental car and shoot my car on into the shop.
I am writing this note 6 days after dropping my car off the second time.  Still not repaired.
I have shade tree mechanic'd over the years and can tell you that I could have pulled the engine and replaced it a couple of times in the time it has taken them to "complete a factory recall that will only take 2 hours".
Yes, I have their car...but honestly I'd rather be driving mine.
The dealership is clean, the customer service is detailed and courteous, but I feel they really need to work on their maintenance staff!!!  Don't plan to take your car into this dealership and wait for it!!!!

Pal P. | 2011-07-01

The service department here is useless. Employees are rude, disrespectful and unprofessional.

ali s. | 2011-04-08

Great dealership for service; good for sales but can be a bit pricey with silly "dealer add-ons"...

I've taken both my Vdubs there and aside from mild incompetence on one occasion, they have been terrific on the routine maintenance side.   Clean waiting area and always a decent experience.

Dennis in Service is a good guy.
