Reviews on AutoNation Chevrolet West Austin

One of the worst experiences I've had with dealerships. I honestly don't have high expectation from any dealership knowing they're looking to make the most money therefore little bit of dishonestly is expected. But when it comes to Autonation (formerly Champion Chevrolet) it's imaginable just how dishonest they are. Hope this review help prevent you from being a victim or at least makes you to be more cautious around them.

Service department is junk.  Long and short of the situation is that they had my vehicle for 23 hours for a wheel alignment and when I finally got it back it was not fixed.  I called them back and they told me I could bring it back in but I could not get a loaner car.  I use my vehicle for my job and that will not work for me.  They did refund my money, but just wasted a full day of my time.  I will not be going back here and suggest that you avoid it as well.

James & his team were all incredible! Did a great job on the work I needed on my Volt, and appreciate they would give me a Volt loaner (I was fortunate they had one in inventory at the time). I'd highly recommend him and his team, and am thankful for them taking care of me and my car! I'll definitely do all my future work on my Volt with them.

Update. ...as of today, i have not received any phone calls back.   i am pretty thorough and will report my progress on here.  I know how Yelp works, they hired someone to monitor their ratings and post a response to make it look like they genuinely care about customers.   in this case, I did as Molly stated and have not received any response.

Amazing experience this past weekend at Autonation on Research Blvd. We registered with Costco and got the sales rep George.

George was just great in every way. We only buy a new car every 15 years so to have such a painless and enjoyable time buying a car meant a lot to us. This is a good place to shop for a car. Thank you George!

If nothing else, I am a procrastination extraordinaire. My car has been recalled for a few years now and I finally decided to take it in on Monday to be fixed. Shame on me I know.

Here is a list of what I needed done according to the notice GM sent me:

-Loss of power steering assist; replace electric power steering motor
-Ignition switch replacement (explains why no valet in town can ever start my car)
-Replace ignition lock cylinder and ignition key

All of the above is done at no charge to me of course since the fault is that of the car company. I set up my appointment over the phone and they sent me a confirmation email which was awesome. Once there to drop my keys though, I was confused as to who I needed to talk to.

I asked the cashier and she was very kind and pointed me in the right direction. The guy I spoke with had me write down my name, phone number, address, and gave me a business card for the man who would be calling me in the morning with an update. The service felt very rushed and slightly irritated that I was there to begin with.

I waited yesterday all morning and never received a call, so I phoned myself around 1 to see how things were going. The man said he was just about to call me anyway because my car was ready to be picked up. I had until 7pm which was perfect.

I got there at 6:30pm and the man I called was gone for the day. The cashier gave me my receipt and said someone would be pulling my car around shortly. I saw a car wash on site and was hoping they would wash mine before giving it back. Nope! It actually is more dirty than when I brought it in because the back window is covered in bird poop. Not that I expected they would since I wasn't paying for the service, but the gesture would have been professional and appreciated nonetheless.

The man who brought my car up gave me no greeting, didn't hold the door open for me, nothing. He simply got out and walked away without a second glance in my direction. If you want any sort of warm customer service, don't come here (with the exception of the sweet cashier). But if you are looking for work to be done on your car in a timely manner (without them calling to keep you updated) then this is your place.

They did okay work on my Volt but the service rep was less than friendly and less  than helpful. I felt like I was annoying him.

Dax F. | 2015-02-27

I was kept informed and updated on the status of my car.  The staff was friendly and courteous, the wifi worked well so the wait didn't seem long at all.  Another good experience overall.  Patrick took good care of me again in the Service Department, I recommend this place for your car needs.

I would give negative stars if I could. We buy a new car every two years and this was by far our worst car buying experience ever. If we had t already spent 8 hours there I would have just went elsewhere. They continually drop the ball on expected customer service issues. From us having to nearly beg for floor mats that were supposed to come with the car. To having to pay another car dealership to instal our front mounted license plate bracket. Now I have to go back again to see why our NEW car didn't come with a state inspection sticker.

They took care of us from beginning to the end.....I can not be happier with my new Tahoe!!! Go and see George and you will not be disappointed!!

I purchased a used Chevy impala from Auto Nation in 5/14, when I got home the horn had gone out.
I went back that weekend and they "fixed it" repaired it for the first time.  Within the next 12 weeks, the horn had gone out again, this time I was to be charged for it so I waited until I had sufficient savings to have the horn repaired. I went back again in late 11/14 and waited all day for them to dismantle the steering column of my car and the fixed the horn as well as then turn signal that was working on and off. The repair was roughly $600 and less than 4 days later, the horn shorted out again. This time I went back and I was given a rental car to drive home in the rain because I was told it would "take all day" after having waited for 4 hours. On the way home I found out that the rental car's wipers didn't work, so that was fun. I picked up my car the next day and this time by midnight that night, the horn went out AGAIN. I called Tony in the morning and he tried to get me in again, but I asked for a refund instead. After playing phone tag for most of the day with his Manager, Tony called me and let me know that I would be refunded and should receive my check IN THE MAIL within the next few business days. It has been just over 3 weeks now and still no check. No one will answer my calls and I'm out the cost of the returns.

Maybe it's because I'm a woman that they feel they can jerk me around, or maybe it's because I don't have a new impala that they just don't care about my car, or my time. Anyone reading this should consider using a different service center, because these guys feel they are too big to fail.

Y'ALL. Go see Cory! He's the bomb.

Everyone at this place is super friendly and fun. I was greeted instantly and introduced to Cory. He asked me what I was looking for and drove around the two options I spoke about. He wasn't overly pushy which was such a pleasure. He was very informative and thorough, and he definitely is on the consumers side.

I ended up purchasing a 2015 Chevy Sonic that I fell in love with. He helped me get the deal I was looking for, and never made me feel pressured. I would buy a new car from him every time I need one. SERIOUSLY!

If you're looking for a new Chevy, go here and ask for Cory!

I will never step foot on another AutoNation (formerly Champion) lot again.  I've had three bad experiences with them out of three times visiting them.  Three strikes and you're out.

First time I went to an AutoNation lot (the Pontiac/GMC dealership that used to be on 183 that isn't there anymore)  they didn't have the SUV I wanted to look at equipped the way I wanted (they only had it with a V6 and a stick or a 4 banger and auto and I wanted a V6 auto) and weren't willing to talk about seeing if they could find one on a different AutoNation lot I could look at unless I was willing to commit to buying it ahead of time.  I also was wanting to look at a 2 door mid size car...  again, they didn't have one equipped the way I wanted on the lot and they were not willing to talk about ordering one or looking for one on another lot.  In fact the salesperson told me I didn't want a 2 door car, and I should test drive the 4 door model they had.  I wasn't interested in that (don't tell me what I want)...  They did have a 2 door model in stock, but it wasn't in a color I likeed and it didn't have the nicer alloy wheels I wanted (which were on the 4 door).  I asked if they could switch the wheels and tires I wanted to the 2 door, but again, I was told they couldn't do that.  When I told them I wanted to leave because they didn't have anything I was interested in the salesperson called the sales manager and they tried to browbeat me into staying and trying out one of the vehicles I didn't want.  They finally let me leave.

After that I went to their Chevy lot further up on 183 and they had an SUV on the lot that had a V6 and automatic...  I test drove it and decided it really wasn't what I wanted.  While I was test driving it, I had let them look at my trade-in which was a 3 year old Pontiac 2 door Grand Prix GT.  After test driving the SUV I test drove a new 2 door V6 LT Monte Carlo and I wasn't all that impressed because it seemed like a lesser car than what I had (smaller engine, less features).  When I got back I told them I wasn't interested and wanted to leave...  the salesperson again called the sales manager who was VERY high pressure...  he claimed that they had let another customer test drive my used car (I never agreed to that!) and had already bought it (WHAT?)  The deal they were offering on the Monte Carlo was not good at all, very near list price and the interest rate on the loan they were quoting wasn't great (and my credit isn't bad).  They kept asking "what do you want your payment to be"...  Which is NOT the question -- I want to know WHAT THE PRICE OF THE CAR IS.  They were also trying to screw me on my trade, offering the very bottom of the range in the blue book.  I told them if it was already sold, they should be offering me a lot more for it.  That didn't seem to factor for them.  They tried to get me to "try the new one over night".  No WAY!  I told them that I didn't trust them that they wouldn't claim it wasn't in new condition when I brought it back and refuse to let me out of it.  They acted all butt-hurt over that, but I've heard of that scam before, as well as the scam of claiming someone wanted the used car (it is a trick to make people think they have to buy the new one because they can't have their old one back).  Anyway, only after I more or less told them that I was going to call the cops if they didn't give me back the keys to my car did they let me leave.  Very unpleasant.  Very DISHONEST.

Being an idiot I guess...  when I was in the market for a new pickup I went back to the Chevy lot again...  And again (how can they have so many cars and none that I like) they didn't have what I was looking for...  I wanted a V8 regular cab work truck...  either long or regular bed.  They only had V6 models in the 1500 (not interested in a V6 full size truck -- no resale value), the only V8 work trucks they had were 2500s, which were all too expensive (and I didn't need the extra capacity) and the bigger engine got less gas milage too.  This time at least the sales guy wasn't so high pressure and didn't call the sales manager in...  But again, he was all about "what do you want your payment to be" and cagey about what the bottom line price was.  I told him if he could get the price down to close to a 1500 I would be interested.  He said he thought he could and would call me back...  Never heard from him.

Anyway.  I've learned my lesson.  The last 4 new vehicles I've bought have been from Covert in Bastrop.  Not only did they SMOKE the deals from anyone in Austin, they were nothing but NICE to deal with.

I do have to say, I've had some maintenance work done at Henna (it is closer to where I live than Bastrop), and they were great for that.  So I have nothing against them.

Edit  to add...  I came to yelp because I will soon be in the market for another new car...  and after seen the reviews felt I should commet.  Needless to say -- I will be shopping the other dealers in the area...

I recently had some work done on my Corvette and they did a great job, and made sure everything was done perfectly. I had Chad for an advisor and he do a great job keeping me updated and handling all my issues. High recommend.

We went to all of the Local and Surrounding area Chevy Dealerships looking for a specific car, a Chevy Malibu LT.  AutoNation had the Best Deal and by FAR the Best Customer Service.  Other Dealers lied and weren't willing to work with us.  We stood around waiting on someone at one delership and no one ever came, we had to go find someone. Overall our Experience was Fantastic at AutoNation!!

Great deal, great experience.  This is not your "normal" car buying experience.  Having done a LOT of research of Chevy Volts I could see that AutoNation had by far the best advertised prices.  The advertised price was the price.  I had the whole deal negotiated online and over the phone before I ever showed up to look at the car.  No high pressure, no haggling, no hidden costs or tricky "salesmanship".  I basically just showed up, signed the papers and got a great deal on a Chevy Volt.  Also, just FYI, I didn't even know this when I called but George informed me that the state of Texas has the Texas Emissions Reduction Program (TERP) from which you can get an additional $2500 from the state on top of the $7,500 federal tax credit AND as a Costco executive member we're also getting a $600 cash card from Costco ($400 for a normal membership), which was another pleasant surprise.  So given the great prices on 2014 Volts, the tax credit, TERP and Costco cash the Volt which is normally thought of as an expensive car was less than many other new cars and less even than ALL of the low mileage used Volts on the market, so what's not to like?

Worst experience EVER!!!

I scheduled my appt. for an oil change and maintenance check up, as well as to get a recall taken care of.  When I arrived I was told it would be about an hour wait.  2 and a half hours later, I got my car back.  As I drove away, I smelled burning oil, but thought maybe they just spilled a little.  It happens.  No big deal.  I had to run an errand and then got back on 183 to head to Cedar Park.  I still smelled burning oil and was now seeing what appeared to be smoke coming out of my car.  And no other cars would get close to me.  I was right by AutoNation so I decided to pull back in and see what was going on.

Good thing I did!!!  When I stopped in the service drive, Patrick came over to see why I was back.  I said something wasn't right.  When he popped the hood, white smoke started pouring out.  I was mortified.  My car only has 10k miles on it!!  I asked what was wrong and Patrick just kinda blew me off and said he'd get someone to take a look.  I reminded him that there was absolutely nothing wrong with my car when I came in earlier.  He ushered me off to the waiting area.  After they pulled my smoking car around to look at it, I noticed they were mopping oil up off the floor.

Time went by and I went to look for Patrick.  I found him joking around in someone's office.  I asked what was wrong with my car and he said there was a bad seal that should've been checked, but oooops, somebody just forgot.  I asked, "bad seal?  The car has 10k miles.  What kind of seal goes bad that fast?"  Patrick said, "oh, these things happen and after a few oil changes you just have to replace them."  I reminded him that this was only my 2nd oil change and again, the car only had 10k miles.  He said, "no, it has 22k miles."  Really?  Like I don't know how many miles my new car has on it.  So I set him straight on that and asked more about this bad seal business.  I said that I've had a lot of oil changes over the last 30 years and have never had a "bad seal" that needed to be replaced.  Especially on a new car.  So he said that, oh, on these newer cars, they make them different so now the seals need to be checked and replaced.  But not to worry.  They were going to take care of it.  So I sat back down.  Patrick then returned with the guy in charge of the garage.  HE had a completely diffrerent story than Patrick.  He said that they had made a mistake and over tightened the oil filter which caused a seal to break and the oil to leak out.  He said they were cleaning my car up and would have it ready soon.  I reminded these clowns that had I driven all the way home to Lago Vista, they'd be putting in a new engine.  They both nodded their heads shamefully and agreed.  I asked what assurance I had that no damage had been done.  They said that, well, I had a 100k mile/5 year warranty, so if I had any problems to just come back.

At this point, I was beyond frustrated.  They finally returned saying my car was ready, so I drove away.  When I went to put groceries in my trunk, I realized that the whole backside of my car was covered in oil.  It was a mess.  Not only was I almost in tears by this point, I really didn't know if I had other things to be concerned about.  I called Patrick and he said everything was fine and that i could come back and he'd work me in to get my car washed.  After dealing with this for more than half the day, I declined and took my car to H2O to have it cleaned up.

I haven't had any follow up from AutoNation.  Funny.  I thought they'd call to ask how my visit was.  Probably not a good idea.  And although I have no desire to go back to these incompetent story tellers, I'll be watching my car very closely for any problems.  And I would never, ever, recommend these people to anyone.  Worst service I've ever received.

I brought my car in for the recall, and everyone was nice. My car was done a lot quicker than expected, which made my day easier. Great job.

Greg Cary! That's all I can say. Greg Cary. If you're looking for a pre-owned car and you're not buying from him then you're making a big mistake. He listened to what I wanted, didn't try to sell me on bull crap, cared about me as a person, worked with my busy schedule, and is all around a great guy who is fantastic at his job. Don't be an idiot.... Call Greg Cary at Auto Nation Chevy Austin.

I recently purchased a vehicle at this dealership...and I must say WOW...Buying cars has changed alot in the last 11 years (The last time I purchased a car).  They were very informed, the salesman Tommy L was pleasant to work with...Communicative, knowledgeable and made the experience overall VERY pleasant.

I had already secured financing through by own bank, however I did sit down with their finance department to discuss better rates.  The finance guy (I cannot recall his name right now), was very informative and helpful and I was not sold a bunch of add on's or services I did not need.

It still takes a good chunk of time to purchase a car but the process is finally losing it's uglier side and Autonation really set the bar for me!

Jessica P. | 2014-09-23

I love this dealership.  I have purchased 3 cars in the last 2 1/2 years from Champion and if you are looking for a Chevy this IS the place to go!!
The customer service is outstanding.....my first impression goes back to Jan 2012 when I came into and met with JD Mendz who I purchased my 2012 Equinox from.  He went above and beyond in helping me.....just went in to look but felt at ease and not pressured to buy hate to be SOLD.  Yeah I left with a new SUV and never felt better about my choice.  I do not have any complaints about the service department my service manager is Patrick Moore and has always been helpful, knowledgeable, and his follow up is wonderful.  I have referred numerous folks and they are all very happy with their purchases.  Two weeks ago I went in and purchased 2 new vehicles from Josh Reese and was handled with kid gloves as it has been my biggest purchase by far in one day.  Buying a car is never fun but when you buy 2 it is worse....he took excellent care of me.  JD and Josh made sure to give me the best deal possible and gave me a good trade in value for my 2012 equinox for a new 2015 equinox I know I know original choice but I love the equinox!!  Highly recommend my 3rd!!
I know most people don't write positive reviews and I wanted to make a point to give a great review for JD, JOSH, and PATRICK they are the reason I keep coming back!!
Hope this review helps with your purchasing decision!!

Jessica Phillips-Saxton
Happy customer since 2012

I can't say enough great things about all the staff at AutoNation Chevrolet on Research in Austin. To start off everyone there is really nice and makes you feel welcome. My sales rep was John Akanono and he was super knowledgeable about the vehicle I was interested in. He was never pushy and took the time to listen to everything that I was looking for. His manager JD Mendez was just as good. Again he was very knowledgeable about the vehicle I was interested in and all the inventory they had. He offered to make changes to a car I initially looked at because I wanted different colored leather seats. I felt that he went above and beyond to make me feel like a valued customer. The day I purchased the vehicle, JD and his staff stayed late so we could close on my car. And all to accommodate me since I could not get out of work early. In the end I purchased a Camaro, with all the specifications that I requested and I couldn't be happier!!! I would recommend this dealership over any other in Austin!!! Thanks again to JD Mendez, John Akanono, Victor, German (finance dept) and all the staff at AutoNation Chevrolet!!!! Y'all Rock!!!!

Jordan was great to deal with as was Roy, the Sales Manager. Both were very personable and straight shooters. Their follow up was terrific and they stuck by their offer without a lot of hassle or negotiation. All in all, a very good buying experience.
2014 Camaro is quite a car. I owned a Porsche 911 and I like this car much better.

Three weeks ago I came in to the dealership and bought a Chevrolet HHR. I was told at the time of purchase that there is a recall on it regarding the ignition. They said if I wanted to buy it anyway they would give me a "Loaner" car until the recall replacement parts came in. They gave me a very nice Impala to drive free of charge. After three weeks I received a call from Greg, the salesman that helped me buy the car. He said that the parts were put on the HHR but the parts were now recalled and it would be an indefinite time before parts would be available. He was very considerate and assured me that my down payment would be refunded. I found a car that I test drove at different dealership. I went to Autonation to return the Impala and pick up my money. It was in a check form although I gave cash. This caused a problem because I was on my way to put the downpayment on the other car I found and did not have a ride or the cash now. Just the personal check. Greg drove me to the bank the check was written on. The bank charged me six dollars to cash it since I do not bank with them. Greg took out six dollars from his personal account and gave it to me to make sure i received the entire check amount. Greg then drove me to the other dealership that I was buying my new car from.I never asked him to help me. He offered to do this for me. He did this after I freaked out to him about the HHR. I did not behave well after I heard about the HHR. It wasn't his fault. I did apologize later but still. He was so considerate in spite of my bad behavior. So, all in all I would say buy a car from Greg at Autonation. Stay away from the HHR though.

Just bought my 2014 Equinox on July 17, and am loving it so far.  Jordan (in Sales) and German (in Finance) were great at walking me through their processes.  This last Saturday, when I came in to have the trailer hitch installed, a series of problems in the packaging of the hitch (not the service center's fault) led to some delays.  I totally understood, but they insisted on doing something to make it up to me.  When they found out I was low on gas and was planning on filling up after the service appointment, they took it to get filled up for me.  And when Jordan found out I was stuck there longer than planned, she came and checked in on me.  I wish I remembered the service guys' names, but they were all immensely helpful.  So far, I'm really glad about my purchase!

I am always happy with what they do but there are a couple of glitches to get there. I have OneStar and know exactly when I have to do what on my car and so does AutoNation. Well, last month they finally called to make an appointment because the milage and the oil life indicated that it was time. I was already waiting to make an appointment because I recieved a recall notice on my Chevy Traverse that said that theire are no parts available right now but I would be contacted as soon as the parts are there. So why doing the inspection when the parts are not there yet? I could safe time doing both at the same appointment. That does not happen. The woman who wanted to make an appointment told me that she did not know about the recall and that somebody would call me. Of course nobody called. I called Mr. May the head manager and left a message. And again, of course, no call back. I called again made an appointment for the inspection because my state inspection was about to expire. The service manager who I was told to have an appointment with was not in when I went to have the inspection done. I was lucky somebody else had time to take care of my car. The requested services were done quickly and my waiting time was under an hour. That was good but of course nothing could be replaced regarding the recall because the parts were still not there. This was a month ago. I am still waiting for Autonation to contact me to have the airbag fixed. Three stars for the general friendly staff, the work done on the car and the time I had to sit there waiting. I also have to mention that the customer service with calls back, the reaction to OneStar notifications and messing up stuff in the past makes me want to switch garages for a while.

This dealership was the absolute  best experience  that I had during this relatively painful process ( car buying with three kiddos in tow).  I had the  pleasure of working with Corey, a Westwood High grad with super sharp customer care skills.  He followed up with me ( but not in an annoying way), accompanied me on a test drive for any car that I wanted to drive and even offered that we drive all the way back to my house to see if the extra long car would fit in my garage, which was one of my concerns.  He was super friendly to my kids and even drove out to my husband's work so that  he could pop out and take a look over at what I was test driving.   They gave me a very fair value for my trade in and offered a very fair price on the MSRP for a 2015 suburban in their quote. I ended up going with a different car, but we will be back for my hubby soon.  Corey was very kind when I called to let him know that we were not moving forward  with the suburban, only confirming for me that he is a true professional!   So, if you are in the Market for a new car and want a hassle free car buying experience, do not waste your time at ANY other dealership off Research BLVD  and head right on over to AutoNation Chevy

I purchased my Camaro in 2012 and I am amazed at the service is still amazing at AutoNation Chevrolet.  If you want a dealer for life that will always treat you well, you need to purchase your next car or truck from them.  You will not be disappointed with anything including the service at this dealer.  They have me sold, I have found a dealer that I will use again for future purchases.  Thank you AutoNation, you ROCK!

Tony Do and mechanics at AutoNation Chevy Austin, the best in Texas!
Thank you for fixing ol' blue Z28 so awesome to be ramblin' around again.
Keep a watch out for Tony on his Ducati - take that second look for motorcycles.  When you need car repairs go see Tony, he will get you back on the road safely.

I do love my car. I have a 2009 Chevy cobalt  with numerous recalls. I have called the service department many times trying to set up an appointment to have them fixed.  I have yet to be contacted, it's been over a month.  I have had issues with their customer service before, but when you have a recall on your car involving fuel leaking and needing the ignition replace, this is the cherry on the cake!

The only reason they receive 2 stars is because the ladies that answer the phones in the service department are very nice.  It's when they transfer me to someone else who is supposed to be handling my account is where it goes down hill!
Plus I really do like my car, I would just love for it to be safe to drive/ride in. (Sad when my boyfriend won't even get in my car, and is terrified for me to drive it).

Michael C. | 2014-06-06

Great service and did everything on time. It made having your car serviced easy.

Purchased new 2015 Tahoe through Wallace.  He was very knowledgeable, friendly, helpful.  I had done research on cost of new vehicle and value of tradein.  From the outset, no drama, no hassles.

Not such high marks for Chevrolet's online tracking system - it never did work.  However, Autonation kept me informed of my order's status in the system, and overall the vehicle arrived pretty much when originally estimated.  Kudos to Autonation for that!

Solid dealership. They have some quality cars on their lot, and some great deals. Charles Ball was a very attentive and knowledgeable associate.

I take my 2008 Tahoe to AutoNation and never had a problem with the service. James Stein has done an outstanding job maintaining  my vehicle since 2010. Any time my Tahoe has had to stay over night, I am given a rental car that same day. Customer service is among the best.

I had my first experience this week with this dealership and I'll say it was a good one. I brought my SUV in for a coolant flush and that's what I got, no more no less. No upsells for services I don't need. I do most of my own auto maintenance so I knew everything was more or less was in good shape. It was done in a couple hours and at a reasonable price for dealership service. Service writer was honest and friendly. With all this I'll definitely go back.

It's typical to share our bad experiences but we rarely take the time share praise for businesses that really go above and beyond. So here goes.... AutoNation Chevy (Formerly Champion Chevrolet) in Austin has really blown me away with their exceptional  customer service. My Tahoe looks amazing and was delivered to me last night with a full tank of gas, shiny clean, a repaired - better than when dropped off steering wheel, all accident damage replaced instead of just repaired, and my service adviser even touched up a few rock chips on the hood. WOW... If you ever need service for your car please consider giving AutoNation the opportunity to amaze you.

Recently purchased a 2014 Silverado and was extremely satisfied with with everyone at AutoNation.  Cory was a great salesman and got right to the point with our deal.  Would recommend AutoNation to anyone I know.

I've been taking my Chevys here for years for servicing.  Always very comfortable with these guys.  Very honest, fair and helpful.  Highly recommend them.

I had made a bad choice a couple of years back buying a car from a used car lot.  Well I got sucked into a large auto loan, that instead of me paying off my car at first I was paying off the finance instead.  I had asked to trade the vehicle in because it was giving trouble since the day I signed the papers.  Well finally I was looking for hope!!!  So I had walked into AutoNation Chevy on Research Blvd. I had gotten so much help from Roy and Benny (Salesman), they were so understanding and awesome to work with.  they weren't trying to over sale to me, nor did they cheat me like the old car lot where I bought my first car from.  They both were very helpful and from the beginning all the way to the end even after I bought a car from them.  I would most defiantly go back for another car one in time or send people there way.  Thank you AutoNation Chevy for all of your help!!!!  I am a very satisfied customer and so is my family.  We fit comfortably in our new car, as a matter of fact we went out of town this past weekend and I didn't hear any complaints from non of my kiddos nor my husband.  now that's a miracle!  Hahahaha....Thank you Benny and Roy!

I was looking at buying a new mid-sized SUV and started my search with AutoNation in Austin, test driving a Equinox LT. My salesperson was Courtney. I liked the vehicle but wanted to make sure I gave the other makes a chance so I planned to drive a few more that morning.

I have to say that Courtney took the news like a champ and gave me my space. I can't say the same for the other dealerships. They didn't want to let me out of the door. The next dealership  I went to the guy put me in the cheapest model he had and it was not a good first impression and may have soured me on the entire make.

Once he realized that my standards were a little higher, he had me test drive one comparable to the LT and insisted that I drive it for the afternoon, which I did. I was not impressed with the quality or the ride. Sad to say the longer I was in it the less I liked it. Worse yet the only colors he had to choose from were metallic gold (pimpy) and black (a little harder to cool off). I mentioned this and the guy said, well your trade in is black. It was not, it was gray.

End result was I could not find one that compared apples for apples with the Equinox in quality of appearance, and features, and comfort. Nor could I find a salesperson that made the transaction as stress free and comfortable as Courtney did. Furthermore, my finance guy was Joe. I told him that I did not like the credit union he lined me up with because I couldn't make payments online and he researched and found me a better interest rate with a company that would allow me to pay online. I am very pleased with the AutoNation experience.

The last time I bought a car I felt taken advantage of and duped, my experience at AutoNation was not that at all. It was amazing, George made me feel very comfortable and I felt like he was truly there to help answer my questions and get me the best deal possible. I didn't feel pressured at all and I left feeling like I got a heck of a deal, a lot in part to do with the finance guy who worked tirelessly to get me the most for my trade. They didn't have the exact car I wanted but were able to get it from one of thier other stores which wouldn't have been possible at a local, smaller dealership.

Joshua C. | 2014-02-25

To start off. I purchased my 2012 Chevy Cruze LTZ at Munday Chevrolet in Elgin. They mailed me an offer for my used car that I couldn't refuse. Because of how far out they are from where I live; I chose to look for a dealership that was closer for my maintenance after the first year. I knew that I wanted the location to be centralized to where I work and live. AutoNation fit the bill as I'm not a fan of the other Chevy dealership off of I-35. Since day 1, I have worked with James in the service Department. James is more matter of fact and an awesome coordinator within his department. If you ask me, I would take precision work for my car's needs over a "nice" service guy any day. To me, my car provides a sense of security and convenience. So, anytime I need to have something done for my car, I want to know that the work is not only going to be done right, but done right the first time. If a loaner car is available, AutoNation is quick to offer one to you for the simple fact they understand that you don't want to be parting from your car as much as they don't want to admit something went wrong with it in the first place. The other staff that I've spoken with are all very nice and if for any reason, they don't know something, they are happy to point you in the right direction. No Company is perfect, but in my opinion the staff at AutoNation are doing their best on a regular basis.

Don't forget that we are all human and your patience shows. If you want them to do what they do best, give them breathing room to do so. Adding pressure only makes them question themselves or not sure if anything they do will actually change your mind.

Thanks AutoNation for your service for the last year,
Joshua Cash

P.S. The next time you purchase a new car and consider getting an extended warranty, ask if you can purchase one without a deductible. Also, if you don't know about GAP Insurance, check it out!

I recently went in for an oil change and tire rotation.   I showed up about 30 minutes early and they went ahead and took me.  I was planning to have a coworker pick me up, but they were literally done servicing my car in 20 minutes and I even made it to work on time!!  Chad was extremely helpful and made this experience very painless.  The waiting area was also very clean and nice.

Lavies E. | 2014-02-18

The experience was really nice and I felt good about my purchase. I will most certainly get my next  car from them as well.

Jen R. | 2014-02-06

They did it again!  I was looking to trade up my little car for a truck. This is my third new car off this lot. The place had been remodeled since my last visit. Looks Nice. Cory helped me find my new Silverado. Zero cash down. No BS. Just walked in work a car less than two years old and walked out with a truck. Cory was friendly and helpful. He knew his stuff! I am more than satisfied with my purchase. Everyone was super nice. JD is always a pleasure... his attitude is just so positive. German in finance helped me complete the transaction with no fuss and very little back and forth. Thanks again guys!

One of my clients lost her keys down a drain at the Domain today. Cars these day require the vehicle has to be towed in so that the anti-theft and new key can be sync'ed. I called AutoNation  to help her out with information as she was stuck by her locked car in the cold.
I talked to Chris in the service center and he was UBER helpful explaining how the process works and the costs of the procedure.
GREAT customer service today.

we have a 2012 chevy cruze and when I was changing the oil, I noticed that there is an axel leak.  called Henna where we got the car and they said they are not working on "big" jobs until Jan 2014.   By the way the car is under warranty.  So forget Henna.

I was hesitant to  try Autonation Chevy because of their previous review.  Calling their main line, it was very difficult to reach an actual service advisor but I had no choice.

Scheduled the appointment online.  Dropped the car off Thursday morning Dec. 19.  They said they are busy but will work on the car.  They found an axle leak which I suspected and another leak from the thermostat.  Chad, the service advisor, called and said they will probably be done by Monday because of the busy holiday. Totally fair and way better than Henna's not until beginning of the year BS.  I asked for a loaner car and he said he will work on that.

Reaching Chad was not difficult since I took one of his business card and called his direct number.  When I left a voicemail, he promptly returned my calls and answered my questions.

And even better, we dropped by Thursday end of day and the car was done.  He said he was able to get one of this techs to work on our vechile.

We own a 2002 chevy Blazer, a 2008 GMC Yukon XL and a 2012 Chevy Suburban.....for one reason:  Patrick Moore in the service department at Autonation.  Patrick has been taking care of us for many years.  I have never met a service rep at a car dealership quite like him.  It's his thoroughness, reliability and customer service skills that keep us coming back.  He takes care of his customers like they are family.  He is just the best!  We are devoted chevy owners thanks to him.

Dillar S. | 2013-12-07

Not sure why there are so many 1 star reviews.   I just purchased a 2014 Chevy Silverado from Spencer and Jaime... What a terrific experience.  I went to several dealerships looking for my new ride, and AutoNation stepped up to the plate and did a fantastic job selling me a car.  I never once felt like I was working with a "car salesman"  Jaime listened to my needs, answered all my questions, was patient with the lady friend, and found me the perfect truck.  No hard sales, no surprises when I went to pay, just damn good service.

Thanks Spencer, Jaime, and German for making this an awesome experience and helping me find the perfect truck.

M A. | 2013-12-07

I have come to an agreement with the general manager (not JD who I still consider horrible) who was very accommodating, to remediate the problem. It hasn't been completely resolved though. I will update this review further when everything has been acceptably completed.

Today, I took my car in for its 30k mile service. I scheduled the appointment online - I received an email confirmation, and although there was no confirmation call the day before, I showed up on time and they were ready for me.

We were ushered into Patrick's office (he's one of the Service Managers), and discussed what I wanted to have done. This was a little frustrating, since I entered all of that information into the online appointment scheduler, but whatever. We all know guided entry systems don't really work.

Patrick told us he'd take care of everything, and that it would be 2 - 3 hours. This was fine, we had other things to do... Dave & Buster's being one of them. :)

4 hours later, we had received no call that my car was ready, so we drove back over there figuring it was and they just didn't call. However, what really happened was they lost my paperwork... and my car key.

My car was there. Just no paperwork (fine by me!), and no key (not fine by me).

However, after about 20 minutes of searching all over the business, Patrick locates the key and the paperwork and goes to check me out. The bill originally was around $85 or so for the oil change (less than I was expecting, for sure - I have to use synthetic oil, which is much more expensive).

But, Patrick waived all fees. He apologized for the inconvenience of misplacing my stuff, and took care everything.

Based on that - I will definitely return, and request Patrick in the future. He is a no-nonsense, pleasant individual who knows what "customer service" really means.

Please remember this is the same company as Champion Chevrolet. Go check them out at the BBB. I've never seen so many complaints on one company. From my past stay away.

So disappointed in the service, went for an oil change waited FOREVER and I had an appt. not friendly at all, I will be driving further to a different dealer with better service for my routine maintenance.

After purchasing a used Suburban from another car dealer and the car being a lemon, I came to AutoNation to check out a new Suburban.  I had such a great experience working with Angel and JD in the new car sales department!  They were very patient with me and worked with me to find me the car I was looking for.  I highly recommend AutoNation if you are in the market for a new car!!  Best car buying experience I have ever had!!

Jack M. | 2013-09-10

Ruben was excellent.  But, post sales was a bit sketchy.  When I arrived the next day to pick up the car, the floor salesman I chatted with did not want to learn what I needed before starting in with excuses on why he could not help.  Complete 180 experience precedence set by Ruben.

I will recommend AN with the caveat that they deal with Ruben only and they take possession of the vehicle the same day.

Brad T. | 2013-09-06

I had a great experience buying a new car here through Steve Vito.  Everyone we worked with was very professional and the manager even introduced himself before the test drive.  We had been shopping all day and had a good idea of what we thought would be a good deal on the car, and we were pleasantly surprised when Steve was able to get it for us.  Keep in mind that the price on service packages or extended warranties can be negotiable.  I'm sure that's true at every dealership, but we weren't aware of that and feel that we probably paid too much on the few packages we opted for.  Overall great experience though.

brad l. | 2013-09-01

Wadi is a great salesperson.  He listened to what I was looking for, the situation I had on my tradein and understood I was not into the typical car sales game (let me go to my manager 6x, etc).  Our negotiation took about 30 min (including credit check), we settled on a deal..DONE!  The finance part took longer since it was at the end of the day and there were people ahead of me.  Roy?, used cars manager, was very helpful and they all worked to make the deal happen.  Love my car and have no hesitation to send anyone to Wadi.   Thanks!

Susan A. | 2013-08-27

We had a very poor experience at a competing dealer (Henna Chevy).  Champion Auto Nation stands in STARK contrast.  We had a fabulous experience from sales, sales mgmt., to finance.  They were fair, respectful and gave us a great deal on our car.  We will definitely recommend them to family and friends.

Nichole B. | 2013-07-19

My husband and I had a great experience. Everyone was very nice. While I waited for my salesman to pull up the car I wanted to test drive, the GM and sales manager both introduced themselves to me. Everyone was very pleasant to work with and I will recommend this dealership to my friends and family.

I took my 2012 Silverado into the shop for its FIRST oil change and tire rotation this past Saturday; which is what the Onstar diagnostic stuff was indicating as being needed.  All started out well and I was there at 7:30AM.  About two hours later the Asst. Manager came over to me and asked if I had the lock for my wheels.  I indicated I didn't and that I was never given one.  He stated my salesperson should have provided.  I again indicated none was provided when I purchased my vehicle.  He then said when I got home, I could look and when I found it, I could bring my truck back in for the rotation.  1) I've already said twice I wasn't given one and 2) I've got to make another trip to the dealership??  I called home and confirmed there was no wheel lock with my truck paperwork.  I went back to the representative and advised I was 100% certain a wheel lock was not provided for my wheels and that I don't believe it was my responsibility, at the time of purchase, to ask for something I didn't know was supposed to be provided to me.  He said they would work something out.  Turns out they switched the nuts and gave me a FIRST key.  Now on to checkout.  The representative walked me to the counter, went over everything.  He told me the final price and I said I had a coupon I'd received in the mail.  I've gotten many coupons since the purchase of my vehicle, which I was excited about.  I produced my coupon only to find it had expired the week prior; 6 days to be exact.  The representative looked at me and said "maybe you'll get another one you can use on your next visit".  I then paid and left.  I was not pleased with his response related to the coupon, nor the whole deal about the wheels.  This was my truck's very first scheduled maintenance and my very first experience with your service department.  Sadly to say, it will be my last.  I will change my truck's service needs to Don Hewlett Chevrolet.

I still will say my buying experience and working with Logan was awesome; the service center, not so much.

Lillian L. | 2013-05-15

Shamir Flowers and Ian Robertson made my car buying experience so EASY!
Would go back them again in the future!

Kyle M. | 2013-04-24

My salesman Logan and the rest of the staff were fantastic!  He worked with me over a few weeks while I prepared to make the purchase.  He politely checked in every so often to make sure I didn't have any questions.  On the day I bought the car, the paperwork and car were already prepped when I arrived.

This was the easiest and most pleasurable buying experience I have ever had.  Thanks!

In the beginning of March 2013 I purchased a CPO 2008 Mustang GT Convertible from the used car department. My salesman, Wesley, was excellent. He did not pressure me with any sales tactics, he did not bother me while I was inspecting the vehicle for collision damage or paint repair, he did not ask me financial questions or talk about financing on the test-drive. As a Tier-1 Credit Customer, these are qualities I look for in a salesman when I am purchasing a car from an unfamiliar dealership. From the time I drove onto the lot to the time I drove away in my new car, I was there maybe 2 hours total including the time it took to go through finance. I did not trade anything in. I feel I got a very good deal on my vehicle and I haven't had any issues with the car since I purchased it. That being said......

Victor Cabella, in the finance department, screwed up my name on one piece of finance paperwork, causing the bank to kick the loan back several days after I had purchased the car and returned to Dallas. I was not notified when this happened, and all I needed to do was sign a piece of paper, but Victor did not contact me until 7 calendar days after the bank kicked the loan back. When he did finally call, 7 days after he should have called me, He called my wife, my employer, and called my cell phone dozens of times with only ONE voicemail. I returned his call within minutes and he proceeded to tell me how I had been dodging his phone calls and ignoring them (which is a total lie as I bought the car on a Saturday and then returned to the dealership the following Monday for a service appointment) so they knew where I was and how to contact me. He was obviously trying to cover up his OWN mistake!

Long story short, Victor threatened to repossess my car because of his own mistake. One call to the GM of the new car dealership straightened everything out. I believe his name was Mike Spencer. He was very polite, helpful and responsive to the issues I had. My experience in the service department was good, but they are very bad about leaving the oil-cap off when they check/change the oil. This really irritates me.

The GM over at the used-car lot is not a nice person to work with. He hides behind his glass window in his room and barks orders at his sales staff all while refusing to interact with customers who would like to speak with him. They just completed a remodel at this dealership, and they did not include ANY handicap accessible parking spaces AT ALL. Talk about blatant city code violation! I'm legally disabled, with a handicap placard, and I was told to move my Lexus (that I was not trading in) to the back of the dealership while I was going to pick up my wife from work (2 exits down from this dealership) I explained to them I would be gone 15 minutes and would be back to pick up my other car. Still, they made me move my vehicle, which was completely unnecessary.

Overall, I had some serious problems, but I'm happy. Only because of Wesley, the salesman (who is in my opinion the best salesman they have) and Mike Spencer, the GM. Everybody else left a bad taste in my mouth, but in the end, I got everything straightened out so all is well.

Excellent Customer Service!  Logan and the team did a wonderful job.  Exceeded my expectations.

I am still receiving annoying emails regarding my visit to Champion's Service Department.  I still stand by my prior review, THEY SUCK!!

David N. | 2013-01-16

We bought a 2011 Honda CR-V EX-L Last week from Champion Chevrolet and we love it!
The salesman Steve Kirchner and his manager Scott McDonald were both very helpful and respectful. they gave us a very fair price for my trade in and I'm very satisfied with the deal.
We also enjoyed meeting Ian Robertson in the finance department. He helped us find a great rate on our loan and he didn't try overselling upgrades.
We had Great overall experience at Champion Chevrolet's Used Car Department and would highly recommend these guys.

I bought a new Camaro in Feb and the sales staff was super nice.  I got the extended tire replacement and have had to change 2 tires already.  They have all my records ready to go and have been very pleasant to work with.   So far, so good!

Dawn C. | 2012-09-10

This review is for the service department NOT sales.
I had to take my vehicle in here today (7am) and picked it up
promptly at 3:15pm.  James S. helped as well as a technician whose name I did not get. Both of them stood by their word and I was not charged one penny more then the price I was quoted.
They were professional and kept to their word. I needed some additional work done but opted to take it elsewhere since the cost here would be too prohibitive. This makes me a bit sad since everything else went so well but in this case it comes down to simple economics.
I would definitely go back and work with James S. if cost were not an issue or they were at least comparable to other high ranking repair shops in Austin.
The check out lady was sweet and they had a nice area to sit and relax if you need to stay here while your vehicle is being serviced.

James Y. | 2012-08-29

I purchased a used Jeep Wrangler from Champion here in Austin back in May. I said this back then, and continued up to today, I have had the absolute BEST experience at any dealership. My sales person DAVID BYERS is easily the best sales representative I have ever experienced and I work in sales my self for over 10 years. Even 3 months after my purchase David knows me by name and has helped me with every detail associated with my purchase. I simply cannot convey what a positive experience David was. His communication is unsurpased and deffinately makes you feel like a friend not a paycheck. I will return to David Byers to purchase my next vehicle regardless of what I am in the market for (brand wise).

Carrie G. | 2012-06-03

This pertains to the used dealership- although after our experience we will never ever purchase anything from them!
Long story short- we bought a car, the car had the 45 days of "warranty" through the dealership. We were told several times we would get a loaner while the car was in the shop as their were some transmission issues that needed to be taken care of in TEMPLE?! Went to drop the car off no one had any idea about the loaner. Dealership manager finally answered the phone and took care of us but then after all was said and done told my husband we were lucky he even fixed the car as it was used. My husband then asked him I thought it had a 45 day warranty? The manager said Yes but we can choose what to fix and what not to.
After all that BS we had purchased their car care package- free oil changes, tire rotations, air filters, and inspections for 50,000. Not a bad deal really until we took the oil to get changed waited for 2 hours (even with an appointment) got home and noticed oil all under the car. Took it back the next day claimed the seal had gotten messed up but they went ahead and "took care of that for me" ugh yeah because your guys changed the oil its my fault the seal is all jacked.

I just signed up on here in part to give props to this place (and a few others). In particular the Service center. I had taken my old car there for 4 years, which is pretty much the amount of time I've lived here in Austin.

In that time Neil is THE BEST service rep... ever! The service team who also works on cars in the back are flat out awesome. I know this won't quite make sense (and I'll try), but Neil is a guy who matches my personality which is down to earth, cares for others, tells it like it is (and not in a crazy blunt way, but rather in a simple constructive way), and funny!

Like I said, he's a great person. The service team as a whole rocks! I feel I can fully trust that whole gang back there.

Do I work for them, nope! And if I have any new problems, my car will go there! :)

Purchased a Chevy Equinox last week from Henrex in Internet sales. The whole experience was great. Everyone was friendly and very customer service oriented. Gary in finance was awesome as well. My finance paperwork was messed up two different times but after keeping these guys at work until 10 on a Friday night it's not their fault my address was messed up by 1 letter. Returned Saturday morning to sign real quick and everything was perfect. Whole process was seamless and I would definitely recommend Champion, Henrex and Gary if you are looking to purchase a new car soon!

First off let me say I work for a used car dealership and we had a 2008 chevy silverado with 98k.  When you would put the truck in reverse it would go about 6 feet and then stop suddenly with a sound like you had backed into something.  I chose Champion because they are closer than Henna, (bad mistake) we were handed to James Stein and we told him of the reverse issue.  Well 2 weeks goes by and he calls me and says he cant find anything wrong with it.  So I have to take my mechanic to them to diagnose the problem. (still barely under factory warranty) 2 more weeks go by and finally its ready.  Pick it up and the transmission cooler line was leaking horribly so we turned around and went back to see James.  He was VERY RUDE and acted like we didnt know what we were talking about.  Kept the truck another two weeks and with no call from them I called and he said that it didnt need anything and to come and get it.  So needless to say I took the truck to Henna and was handed to Mark Wilson.  Great guy by the way!! They had to REFIX the transfer case that Champion was paid for.  NEVER WILL I GO BACK THERE!!!

Just go there and see Vannessa if you are looking for a new car. I purchased my 2012 Camaro Convertible - 45th Anniversary package from Champion last September (I was also the first one to get 2012 Camaro Convertible - 45th edition in Austin :D).  All of the information which I needed before purchasing it, Vannessa sent me by email which saved a lot of my time.

Though I had faced some problem with my loan approval but Vannessa was very helpful and she managed to get an approval.

About the servicing department, I recently used their servicing center as I faced a problem with my Camaro's sound system. I got a full day rental car (Chevy Tahoe) from them as I had to drop-off my car for a day, it helped me a lot as I didn't have any ride. If I remember correctly, the servicing supervisor name was James. He was very friendly and was able to fix the problem.

Thank you Champion Chevrolet. Keep it up!

Kristin W. | 2012-02-21

I worked with Neil in the service department. My check engine light came on and it turns out it was due to a botched oil change (from Meineke on research blvd - don't go there!).  Neil was so helpful and fully explained everything that happened to my car. The dealership covered all the repairs and even my rental car.

I could not be happier with the service I got at Champion.

jessica p. | 2012-02-20

I went to Champion Chevrolet on 1/9/12 strictly to look at the 2012 Equinox.  I had done alot of research on them and had been to 2 other dealerships.  I spoke with
JD Mendez over the phone before I even went in to look to verify internet prices and what they had in stock.  JD actually went back in the rain and looked at the items on the vehicle I was looking for and had it out front when I got there.  What he told me over the phone was exactly what I got...amazing!  I was not looking to purchase that night but in the near future and I must say I was blown away by the level of customer service I was receiving.  Needless to say I DID PURCHASE my 2012 Chevy Equinox that night.  Everyone stayed late to make sure I understood everything and that I was comfortable with my choice.  I have honestly never felt better about a car purchase and it has NEVER been this EASY.  I highly recommend Champion Chevrolet and JD Mendez he was awesome!!

If you car needs service, DO NOT take it here! My car was sputtering, when I took it in they said there were no codes, nothing is wrong with car. After I insisted there was something wrong they let a mechanic test ride with me,car did the same thing he says it definitely is something, seems like a misfire. So they said we'll take another look to see what could be the problem. Shortly, later I get a "we fixed it" "something was loose" yet, after I left the shop the car was still sputtering, even more now. Well no way I was going back for some there is "nothing wrong" BS, so I took it to another dealership, who found out in an HOUR that i had a bad engine coil and my spark plugs fouled out. Champion service department sucks.

I actually stopped in on Saturday morning to check out the Equinox.  I was very upset with the experience I had at Champion.

I walked in and a sales associate, Wallace was called.  I told Wallace I was interested in the Equinox and he just handed me a pair of keys to take it for a test drive - which I thought was strange as he didn't ask for ID or anything nor my interest in the vehicle nor tell me about the vehicle in the least.  I enjoyed the drive & had generally liked the vehicle.

When I returned I felt like I was pulling teeth on trying to get information out of Wallace concerning the vehicle.  I wanted to know about its features, the drive (as I wanted an AWD because I'm from NY and might possibly be moving back in the near future), pricing - both financing and leasing options.  I was also interested in the college grad program and the GM employee discount as my Grandfather previously worked for GM. He seemed bother by the fact that I wanted an AWD which meant he would have to locate it at another location. I also wanted a rough quote and he randomly quoted me at $408 a month for a basic AWD Equinox - which I know, is unrealistic, as he didn't even ask about a trade or any down payment I might intend to make. He was so uneducated on the programs and the vehicle's offerings, not to mention the "quote" and as a whole, I was completely turned off by the experience.

My family has NEVER bought a vehicle outside of GM and I honestly believe that had I had an enjoyable experience, I would be more interested in the Equinox it self but now I feel it is no longer in the running as a potential vehicle.  I also felt Wallace did not view me as a serious customer although in reality, I'm looking to make a purchase in the next week.

I've bought two Suburbans with extended warranties and I've never had issues with Champion with the service.  They've done the work correctly every time.

After warranty their service is going to cost you but they've never not figured out what's wrong with my vehicles, as opposed to the tire places that want to do engine repairs.

I had an Olds with an engine light on for emissions.  The tire place wanted to change the gas cap and simple things like that.  I did it on my own and wasted some money because it didn't fix the problem.  I took it in to Champion and they diagnosed the issue and fixed it correctly.

My second Suburban had a valve lifter fail that ultimately destroyed my camshaft.  I wasted time and money with two other places I won't name.  Then brought it to Champion and again it was diagnosed correctly and fixed correctly.

I like this place and will stick with them for the complicated issues.

I paid $60 to have my ac looked over because it wasn't blowing out cold air. They told me the compressor was bad and along with some other parts would cost me $1500 to repair. I am earning an associates in heating, air conditioning and refrigeration so I thought I would just fix it on my own. I took my car to class to recover the refrigerant and it only had a low charge! They are either trying to screw people out of their money or are incompetent. Either way, go somewhere else.

This dealership doesn't stand behind their cars--I was lied to by the service rep, then they "accidently" lost any record that they had ever seen my car! Fortunately, the corporate weren't so dishonest...but even the corporate didn't stand behind a KNOWN and total design defect and wouldn't fix my car! Never, never, never, never will I buy a car from Champion Chevrolet EVER!!! Dishonest!!!!!

Took my 2003 Z06 Corvette there on Saturday for an oil change.  When the car was done I noticed greasy finger prints on my hood and my windshield.  That should have been my first clue.  My daughter and I drove the car a few blocks north to Petco at Lakeline Mall.  When we came out I started the car and the computer displayed the message "Low oil level".  We jumped back into the car and headed back for the dealer.  The shop closes at 3 and it was about 2:55. Nobody would answer the service phone so I called the main dealership number.  The operator connected me to a service advisor who told me "sorry, all the technicians are already gone".  I said well I just paid $75 for an oil change so someone better come up with 2 quarts of Mobile 1, and that I would be there in 2 mins.  When I got there a service technician magically appeared and yep, the car was 2 quarts low.  When I asked how could this happen the service advisor said he didn't know.  The worst thing is that they didn't even apologize for the mistake or the inconvenience.   Had I not objected on the phone they weren't even going to take care of me!  Needless to say...I will not be back.

A few months ago, I took my car in to get two of the windows fixed. The repairman told me that the motors had gone out on those windows. It was going to be a grand total of 800 dollars to fix two windows on a car that is TWO years old, that one person, with no kids to mess with the windows, drives. I took the car to a kwik kar in fort worth and they were able to fix the windows, which was actually an electrical problem on the driver's side panel, and the shorted blinker and the child safety lock for 200 dollars.

I'd like to think that in this world a woman can take her car to a shop and not be taken advantage of by the men who work on the car and charge more than they should. But I guess I'm wrong, either that or the guy was just incompetent.

Thank you Champion Chevrolet, your incompetence and/or sexual discrimination has driven me to other more reliable, and ethical places of business.

The salesman was Kyle Forga. He got me a much better price for a new HHR than I could find anywhere else, including for used cars. I've taken it in for servicing a couple of times - routine stuff like oil changes and tire rotation - and it all went just fine. Contrary to the other reviews, my car came back washed and vacuumed.

I just had the 1 year stem-to-stern checkup, by appointment so there was no waiting to turn the car in. The car was ready when promised and they replaced a light and wiper blade with no charge.

I would give them first shot at future business.

EDIT - the routine service was with coupons that came with new car sales. since I used them up I have been taking my cars to Groovy Lube for lubrication, belts, hoses and the like and to Discount Tires for tire rotation, replacement and the like

Sit back, intrepid car shoppers and listen to my tale of woe at Champion Chevrolet. What started out as a day of high hopes with visions of a Chevrolet Silverado dancng in my head ended up with a jaded me behind the wheel of a Honda Accord.

This was several years ago, and I was a naïve car buyer. I wasn't aware of the games that some car dealers can play.

My car was totalled, so I was in need of a new ride. My first mistake was latching on to a "LOW MONTHLY PAYMENT OMG!" ad from Champion Chevrolet. This one was for a Chevy Silverado for something like $159 a month. That sounded good to me, so I headed over to the dealership.

After I mentioned the ad to my salesman, he didn't comment on that. Instead, he started walking me around the lot showing me different options and helping me build out a truck. Before too long, we were back in his office starting to look at a deal.

Somehow in our walks around the dealership, the $159 truck was long gone. What we were negotiating on now was a truck in the $28K range. I was then bombarded with the ole "So, what do you want your payment to be gambit?" All the while, the sales guy and finance guy are bobbing and weaving. They were moving the length of the loan out to ludicrous lengths. They were sprinkling in leases and leases with balloons.

All this was to distract me from the only real number: the price of the truck. I started to feel more and more uncomfortable as they hammered away at me. The last straw came when the sales guy put a phone in front of me and began to pressure me to go ahead and call my insurance company to get insurance on the new truck. We hadn't even come close to agreeing on a deal, and they wanted to lock me in by this pressure tactic.

At this point, I had enough. I stood up and told the sales guy that I would be leaving and that what was on the table was not what I wanted. He blocked my way in the showroom and told me to wait. At this point, the general manager came over and stood directly in path, uncomfortably close to me. He asked the salesman, "What's wrong?" My salesman replied, "This customer wants to leave. He's not comfortable with the deal we were working on." GM: "Is this ok with you?" Salesman,"Yes.".  Mr. GM narrowed his eyes and looked at me for a couple of seconds before finally stepping aside to let me leave.

I was steaming mad. I had a rough experience at Champion, and since then I have learned a lot about the "tactics" employed by some car dealers. I left from there and went over to First Texas Honda, where the experience was completely different: low pressure helpful sales folks. We had a deal on an Accord (that I still drive to this day) that very night. I would caution any shopper looking at Champion Chevrolet. Do your homework on sites like edmunds.com . Watch out for the games, and don't be fresh meat in the shark tank.
