Reviews on Vandergriff Acura

The service department was slow,  overpriced, and not detail oriented.  I stopped by on a Tuesday afternoon at 1230p for a regular oil change and tire rotation on my 2015 vehicle, and the technician told me it would take one hour at most to get me out of there, and he told me that my tire pressure was off, but that they would fix that.    After an hour and a half,  I  approached someone else in the department and they said they would check on my car. . 20 minutes later I checked out,  I was charged $90 for the service.  The paperwork showed that my car was actually finished within an hour,  my keys and paperwork were sitting on someone's desk whilst they were on a test drive.    When I got in my car,  my tire pressure was still off so I expressed my frustration with the tech he was defensive and unapologetic.  I will never go there again,  and you shouldn't either.

Don't have a bad word to say. Just purchased a pre owned 2008 TL and love it. The car is great and so was the experience. John Thompson (sales) and Shan in finance made it an easy hassle free experience.  I strongly recommend , and will be my first stop for my next vehicle.

I used True Car to find a great deal, locked in my price, spoke with the salesman and set-up a time to test drive my deal of the century. As I was 30 minutes into my one-hour commute to the dealership, I recieved a call from the salesman stating that someone from Austin put a deposit down on the vehicle and I wouldn't be able to pursue the sale any further.

Needless to say, I was very dissapointed in the process and the salesmanship. Don't waste your time, or money here, because they won't SELL you a car they will SAIL you down the river.

This review is strictly about the service department. I can't attest to the sales department, as I've never purchased a car from Vandergriff Acura. My previous experiences with Vandergriff Honda have been mostly negative, so for my last warranty covered oil change I decided to try another branch of Vandergriff. After being turned away by Vandergriff Chevy, I took the service advisor's advice and pulled into the Acura division. Best advice and suggestion ever.

While I awkwardly sat in my car while I waited for someone to greet me, no one did. That upset me a bit but I decided to go in and inquire about service. My car was taken back and it came out about 45 minutes later with the oil changed, car vacuumed/washed, and my tire pressure light finally went off after being on for months now. The best part was that I was a bit over my warranty mileage-wise (oops...but in my defense I thought I had another 3K miles) and they serviced my vehicle free of charge anyway. Excellent, outstanding, and efficient service. I'll definitely visit Acura again in the future.

Excellent experience. I leased a 2015 Acura TLX here today and traded in a Toyota FJ Cruiser that I was upside down on payments on. We worked with Dan Naughton and he was no pressure, very laid back but super informative and helpful. They gave me above the blue book price on my trade in and they gave me an excellent deal on my new car. They were willing to work with me but I didn't feel like I was getting jerked around. Nothing worse than being a woman shopping for a new car and the salespeople try to take advantage of you, talk down to you or play games with the price. That didn't happen here. I got a fair deal and I love my new car. I would definitely shop here again and recommend them to others.

Received a mailer for an offer on my Acura that I purchased new at Vandergriff. The offer was for my exact car year and everything so they should know how many miles to expect. I actually drive less than average but the offer on the mailer was twice as much as what they offered in store for a vehicle in the condition it should be considering it's age. These guys are very unprofessional and even when asking the sales man why did I drive 30min to get an offer for not even half, He simply replied "I don't know" like an idiot. He had to ask me the same information multiple times through our conversation which shows poor customer service. Such a shame such nice vehicles are being sold by unintelligent unprofessional sales staff.

I have had he pleasure of doing business with Vandergriff Acura.  Used car salesmen are by tradition hard to work with.  This is NOT the case at Acura.  As a salesperson, Willie is beyond reproach.  He was polite and well versed in the process.  Even when were where still shopping, he maintained contact and reiterated he would still like to earn our business.  Steve (his manager) was polite and respectful of our need to shop around.  Even when we thought the service light came on (BTW - it was me who pushed a wrong button) they cared about the car purchase.  Willie even followed up with me to make sure I was happy with the experience!  Ultimately, we had a great experience that was far beyond the norm for DFW used cars dealers.  I think it is because the team can sell any car on their lot - not just used or new cars. Way to go guys!  You are running a quality business with Quality Sales People.

I went in for a free wash a couple weeks ago, when I received my car back, money was taken from directly out of my wallet & out of my glovebox. My belongings were rearranged as if someone was digging through them. I know what you're thinking "why would you leave money in there" well that is because I went in for a WASH not for an interior wash or detail so there should be no reason why they had to open anything inside my car. I noticed the management about the issue & he blamed it on the "new staff" in the back. I just purchased a 2014 Acura from you & that is the excuse you give me? I was informed that I would receive a check & have yet to receive it. I have told all of my clients & acquaintances to never go to this dealership. Id rather drive 45 min to the next Acura over coming here again.

I am in Los Angeles, I had found (online) an automobile advertised for sale by Vandergriff Acura (2012 Acura TSX sport Wagon vin# JH4CW2H6XCC001223) a friend that lives in the Dallas area (David L.) went to the dealership on my behalf to visually inspect and test drive the auto for sale on the morning of 7/21/2014. David called me with an update on the auto and after our conversation he introduced me to the saleman Tom Phan, at this point I began the process of purchasing this auto, I was ok with the price quoted, at this point Tom took my credit info, and said he would be back to me when the the credit process was completed. On the morning of 7/22/2014, Tom called my back with the loan terms, I was not agreeable with the terms offered by Vandergriff Acura, I told Tom that I was going to go through my credit union, VA Desert Pacific Federal Credit Union to purchase this auto. I told him that I needed him to fax a purchase order to my credit union (310) 473-8196, he did not want to do that instead he texted me an photo of, as he put it ,Menu, which was a breakdown of the total price, I made a second request for a purchase order, my request was not honored. I went to my credit union with the photo of the Menu, they said what is this(?) I told them that this is what Tom the saleman had sent, they took the vin and other info to begin the purchase, but they said "we need the purchase order". On 7/23/2014, I spoke briefly with Tom, I told him again that neede the purchase order faxed to my credit union. On 7/24/2014, tried to make contact by phone numerous times, final made contact with Tom at approx 16:00 pacific time, Tom said he had not faxed the purchase order yet, at this point I was quite frustrated and I informed him that not having the purchase order was holding up the whole process, I told him again to fax the purchase order to (310) 473-8196, he said he would do it. On 7/25/2014 at approx 09:15 pacific time, Tom called saying that he had just faxed the purchase order, I expressed my displeasure that he had held things up by not honoring my requests in a timely fashion, he needed additional info, insurance and DL info. He said that insteed of a check from the credit union the dealership required that the money for purchase would have to be sent by wire. I arranged and paid for the money to be wired by my credit union to the dealership for the purchase of this auto. At approx 12:40 pacific time, my credit union wired Vandergriff Acura the total agreed on purchase price, and we have verification that the dealership received said funds. At approx 12:50 pacific time, I received a call for John Ellis, General Manager of Vandergriff Acura, he said that the auto I wanted to buy had been sold to another party that had been at the dealership all morning filling out paperwork, I told him that I had been working on purchasing this vehicle since Monday 7/21/2014. He apologized, and then said that he has a brand new 2014 TSX sport Wagon (vin JH4CW2H62EC000506) he said it is listed for $36,534.00 and that he would offer it to me for $6,000.00 under listed price, I told him that I would think about it and be back in touch later today(7/25/2014) I attempted to contact John Ellis, he finally called me back at 19:00 pacific time, I our conversation I countered his previous offer, he said "I will run the numbers and call you back".  I am making this complaint on  7/30/2014 at 08:50 pacific time, as of this time and date I HAVE NEVER HEARD BACH from John Ellis and the 2014 Acura TSX sport Wagon is still listed in the inventory of Vandergriff Acura's autos for sale. I am posting this review on 7/31/2014, 11:20 am pct, still have not been called back by John Ellis as he said he would. If I could give them no stars I would. James L.

They get me in with a low price quote. I drive 30miles to check it out. Settle everything and when i am about to buy the car the " General Manager" gets a better offer from other customer so decides to ditch me in the last moment. He just decided not to sell the car to me all of a sudden!!

I sold my car and was ready with cash and they left me stranded.
Pathetic service! i would prefer David Mc David, who gave the correct price from Day1.

My suggestion: Do not trust the low balling offers and walk into this dealership! Its a Trap!

I just purchased a new Acura from Vandergriff Acura. I have to say, it was a very easy process. I did most of the price negotiations online and basically we just had to come in and sign the papers and take delivery. I shopped around and Vandergriff was the easiest to deal with. My salesperson was David Ramos, and I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a new Acura. He made the entire process fast and easy. I also had interaction with the General Manager, John Ellis, and he went out of his way to accommodate us on our purchase. He made sure that everything went smooth and I really appreciate the way he runs this dealership. No bait and switch here, I paid the exact price I was quoted. There were no hidden fees or last minute surprises. My wife is very satisfied with her new Acura!

I would also give zero stars if possible.   We had a MILD interest in an Acura.  I initated my car search through USAA car buying service.  USAA actually sends out some sort of notice to all acura dealers informing them of my search.   Of all the dealerships in town, this one sent me multiple emails and then several harrassing phone calls.   I would receive several calls within a 2-3 hour time frame while I was at work.  I kindly asked them to stop calling and I would call them back if I had any further interest.   The calls stopped for about a week and then they started up again.  JD Diaz was the person who would not stop calling me.    It was borderline creepy almost like I had a stalker.   Maybe they have really good prices and maybe other people that are really good.  This has soured me on the dealership for sure and probably the brand.   If Acura were truly a luxury brand, I would expect a Sewell/Park Place type experience.    This was the opposite.

We received many online prices on the new RDX.  Several dealerships said they couldn't meet the price no way.  I called Jeff Carter, he said he could do it and they did.  I also got the expected price for my beloved trade in.  It was well worth the drive and now I will proudly wear the Vandergriff name on my license plate frame.  Everyone at Vandergriff made the drudgery of haggling over a car deal painless.  Everyone knows if Momma ain't happy nobody is happy.  Momma is so happy since  she talked to Jeff Carter and all the team.

Buyer beware! I recently purchased a 1 year old pre-owned car from Vandergriff Acura. I feel that their dealings with me were intentionally deceitful and unethical. I was assured that the car I purchased (for nearly $35,000) was a great car without problems. I noticed some white on the rubber trim and asked about it, I was told it was a special paint protectant they put on... it was not. After purchasing the car I came to find out it was paint overspray and that the entire car had been repainted. Something had damaged the car bad enough to require the entire car to be repainted, something I believe Vandergriff Acura knew. I provided them proof that the car had been repainted, they did not care. I should have gotten an independent inspection before buying but I thought with a 1 year old car, with a clean carfax and a dealership like Vandergriff I would be okay, I was wrong. Additionally, 5 days after buying the car, it wouldn't start, I had to have it jumped. After looking it up, I found that the new battery that Vandergriff put in it was not made for that car. Know that Vandergriff Acura deceived me, I hope that they don't do the same to you.

Marcus was very helpful. I went in just to test drive a 2102 Acura TL and I ended up leaving with it that night. No pressure sales. Marcus was very informative about the features of the car and I was even able to take the car for a few hours to drive around town. That and the concierge service is what sold me.  When we went back to finalize the deal, Marcus had an appointment and had Wes step in and was very helpful during the negotiating process. I never expected that level of customer service while purchasing a used car. Only downside of this experience was that my car only came with one key not two. But its an easy fix.

I recommend seeing JD Diaz for new or used cars. He's very good and will take the time to help you find what you need!

Reena D. | 2013-06-13

We came here in wanting to purchase a car.  We walked in and worked with Tsu who was really nice.  The person I want to give the most credit to was Alex.  He was very friendly and was always there to help us and answered all our questions.  He had so much patience with us and showed me how to work some/most of the technology in my car.  We actually met John Ellis who is the owner and he was very friendly and worked with us on any issues we had.  Kudos for customer service here!

Would give ZERO STARS if possible.  This company has put my family and I in more stress than it is worth, I wouldn't recommend my worst enemy buy a car from this dealer. What ever happened to the HONOR businesses had in principles to stand by their products. Funny how all the good reviews for this place, don't seem to have any other reviews, no picture and even one that is filtered?, can we say planted..

I'm in the military and during a visit to family in Arlington, my wife and I decide to trade in our car for an Acura MDX. We went to this dealer because they were the closest and as part of our purchase we requested a DVD player, like the one installed in the higher model, we wanted the kids to be able to enjoy watching movies on our long trip back to where I'm stationed in CA.  I guess we weren't specific enough but we got some cheap AUDIOVOX DVD player (cost an additional $900 to our contract) when we received the car, which was the day before we were leaving,  I didn't make a fuss because I attributed this as a miscommunication.  So, fast forward to almost 2 years later (still under warranty), my auto seat and mirror controls go out and I take it to my local dealer.  They replace parts for the mirrors under warranty and inform me that the DVD player was improperly installed and that it could be causing the problem. I would need to rewire the DVD player at my own cost and if any damage were to be caused by it, I would be liable for repairs, since it was a third party who manufactured the DVD player.

First of all I didn't ask for a third party piece of equipment, I thought that since I was buying from a dealer that they would install Acura equipment.

Secondly, since the purchase was a part of my purchase contract the dealer from which I purchased the equipment should help me in this situation. I WAS WRONG!  I spoke to the Sales Manager and the Service Manager and they turned me away. The service manager, Vince or Vance, had the audacity to tell me that his wife's car was wired the same as mine with no problem, well it worked just fine for almost two years and its not working now, so there must be an issued somewhere. He also tried to blame the DVD manufacturer and get me to pursue a claim with them.

I called Acura Client Relations, expecting ACURA to help me out, pretty much a waste of time, they told me that they are only a mediator and cannot make the dealership do anything.

Long story short I paid for the DVD player to be properly rewired at a third party shop and that fixed everything.  The third party, who was re-wiring my DVD player informed me that the soldering that was done was not done very well and much of the wires were scorched because of.  They put some black tape on it to prevent any shorts and luckily this fixed all my problems.  I was lucky in this case that no wiring was shorted because ACURA would have blamed it on the DVD Player installation and made me pay for it out of pocket.

I will never do business with this dealership again. Just dig deeper you'll find more bad reviews on this place.

Terrible. Just terrible. Save your time, your cool, and your cash and just stay away.

Was perusing online trying to decide between a pre-owned Acura TL, Nissan Maxima, or a brand new Nissan Altima. Vandergriff Acura listed several used Acura TLs on their website and on Autotrader. I chatted with a sales rep online who then called me shortly thereafter. I discussed the price I wanted the car and identified the cars I was interested in. The salesman, Aaron, said that it "wasn't not doable" and invited me in to look at the inventory. I then asked him which specific car we were going to look at, and he did not answer. I also e-mailed him and did not get a reply.

I read some really negative reviews of this place on Google and decided to check out their inventory anyways. My husband and I tried helping ourselves in the lot first but could not find where they keep their pre-owned vehicles. So a trip inside the shark tank was warranted. I mentioned the Aaron's name. He came out and immediately tried to get me to buy a lease. I declined several times and then he got a pen and started drawing pie charts (wtffff) and I resisted. "No! My current vehicle is a 2001 Nissan Altima. I drive cars until they fall apart. I DO NOT LEASE. I buy." Stifled a "goddamit" at the end there for the sake of civility. At this time he referred to my husband and I as "tough customers." We assured him we knew what we wanted. Now go get those pre-owned Acuras you assured me you have! Since they have them "sprinkled" throughout the place, one cannot find them on your own. Effin lame.

Aaron went and brought out two cars listed for $10k more than what was listed online. He assured me it was the only make, model and years they had available in my specifications. So is he bullshit or the dealer for putting inventory on Autotrader that led me to believe otherwise? My husband and I expressed our displeasure, when he said he'll be right back and proceeded to get new vehicles for us to look at. Ugh. We just left.

We were totally real. I had several thousand dollars cash down payment, I already had a loan (I didn't tell him this part), and I even had my car title ready to go. I was definitely not there to waste anyone's time, but apparently he was.

Btw: I ended up buying the Acura I wanted later that day, so all was not lost :)

I was waiting on my husband to come back in town and went to test drive an Infinity I saw on craigslist the dealership put up. Ben W. walked up and greeted me immediately but not in like the creepy car dealer way but as a cool professional salesman way. I drive a big car on big rims and a lot of people off the cuff judge me but I didn't feel that way when he addressed me. We drove the car I was a bit worried about the brakes and he explained what I was feeling when stopping. I later confirmed this with my husband so it was legit. Once my husband got there he let him drive and we went on in to fill out the credit app. Negotiations on rates and payments went back and forth but in the end Ben was able to get us a good rate as first time buyers rebuilding credit!! Great guy who wasn't overly pushy and he is even planning his wedding so our best interests were his as well as he would have to make money to pay for all of that. We finished with Kenneth in the finance office who was so funny had us at ease when signing the final paperwork. I really entered into the situation wary and afraid of such a big name dealer turning me down, but with the people in the dealership I dealt with it was smooth and refreshing to know that I could get a car. Go in see Ben tell  him the Luckeys sent you and enjoy your new ride!!!!

I had a bad experience here 10 years ago about buying a car. I just moved back into town and thought I gave a chance to earn my business back. I called the service department to schedule an appointment. first call receptionist put me into the Service Dept. the phone rings 15 times and no one picks up the phone. Ok, they are busy with customers. I can understand that. I call back an hour later, the phone would just ring for about 3 mins. Ok, they are busy. Well, I did this 6 times today and got no one on the phone. What kind of businesses don't answer their phone? I'm going somewhere else with my business. Hey manager, wake the heck up and see what crappy service your employees are giving. Maybe the manager doesn't care either. Bye bye Vandergriff. I will never step foot in any of your dealerships.

My Salesperson Robert Fugate is awesome!  If Anybody You know is looking for a new Acura see him!

I purchased my car here and took it to their Service Dept several times over the past year without incident...Until recently. I found out the service advisor, Jon Gilliland, drove my vehicle to his home and to the beer store (his exact words) and put 78 miles on my vehicle while it was supposed to be in the care of this shop. The Service Manager, Vince, made excuses for Jon and never once apologized for this happening. He told my husband that they are never allowed to take customer vehicles home, then told me it happens all the time and that he's done it many times himself. My husband told Vince to have our vehicle ready to be picked up that evening. Vince said it would be cleaned up and waiting for him. When my husband arrived he saw a book we had left in the car (schematics for a job my husband had been working on) with all of the pages ripped out and tossed in every floorboard. In addition to this juvenile act, the car was never cleaned up or even vacuumed out. I am appalled at the way this shop treated us and our vehicle. Do yourself a favor and take your vehicle elsewhere, unless you want them driving it to the beer store after hours!
