Reviews on Reeder Chevrolet

Private I. | 2015-03-13

After getting bait-and-switched by dealers local to me (in regards to my trade-in value and the price of the vehicle), I chose to go out of state.  I found a nice certified-used Volt at Reeder, about 4 hours away from where I live.  We negotiated by email (which I prefer) and, once the deal was done, a few phone calls to arrange my visit.  Deposit made over the phone.  Arrived at about 11AM and was on my way home at 12:30PM.  No sending me to some extended-warranty-selling Finance Manager, no lengthy and drawn out process regarding my trade in, all the correct numbers on the documents, and the Volt was charged up and clean as a whistle.  If I'm in the market for another Chevrolet in the future, Rick Boggs (my sales guy) will be the first person I contact because I have confidence that he will not screw around with me like the local dealers have.  Can't say I got the lowest price I possibly could and I wish the tires had been replaced as part of the certification process (barely squeaked by, I guess), but this dealership experience was as close to the Tesla buying experience as I have ever gotten buying cars and, if GM or any brand wants to remain relevant in the future, it'll have to get with the program and reward dealers like Reeder that do not insist upon customers coming in just to get any attention, shove sales tactics down customers' throats, and ultimately cause customers to leave with buyers' remorse or a bad taste.  I walked out of this dealership feeling like they got it right.  I won't use their service department but I'd bet it's not bad compared to the local dealer I bought my Silverado from.  That place is a cluster in all kinds of ways and this dealerships service department, from what I saw, looked far better set up.

This is a review specifically about the service department.  Took car in for another problem and they did a recall while it was there.  A few days later, my gear shifter broke completely and I had to have the car towed to the dealership. Jeff informed me I would need to pay for a new shift cable...what should've been replaced with the recall.  I called and spoke to Jeff who basically got in a screaming match with me about why I was being charged for something they had supposed replaced...recall states to put a clamp on unless the cable is broken and at this point it seemed the cable was broken.  He finally agreed not to charge me after talking to the shop manager.  Took a day to get the part and I was on my way.  Had more trouble and had another mechanic not associated with Reeder look at it. He informed me the clamp was still there and that the cable had never been replaced.  I advise anyone out there to stay away from this lying service department.
