Reviews on Piazza Honda of Philadelphia

Walked right out of this place and drove down the street to Pacifico Hyundai and purchased new the same day. My bf and I came here last week on a Saturday and were approached by salesman Brian H. He was slimy from the beginning and barely greeted us. No handshake and he didn't even give us his name until we asked. I guess because we are young and were wearing jeans and sweatshirts he assumed we had no money. SIR its the weekend, Can I get a day to wear my jeans please? lol

Anyway we had my parents meet us about 10 minutes later and my mom was not feeling his slimy, arrogant nature either. Despite this, I test drove a Honda CR-V EX and I liked it but would never make a deal with this salesman. So down the street to Hyundai we went.

Brian the service guy is really nice and throughout the servicing of my car was regularly calling me and leaving my messages to give me status updates. Much appreciated!

When I first got there, it took a good 10 min for anyone to notice me. Then another 15 min for them to track Brian down. It was strange.

I had to get my roof molding updated and the parts had to come from CA during the terrible weather we've been having. I was quoted a day, then 3 days, then 5, until it was completed on day 14!! I know it wasn't their faults and the parts had to come in... but I felt it hard to believe that it took 14 days for the parts to come from CA. Minus points for this.

My new battery was $120 with tax and all that. I didn't bother shopping around because my car was there, just wanted them to finish it. After my car was serviced, I also got a free car wash around the corner, sweet! I would come here again if only I needed to go to an authorized Honda place.. otherwise Mid City is my place.

This place is only 15min from center city, only cost me $12 on Uber if you're thinking about how to get here!

On monday i ordered a hood prop gromet for my 2000 honda odyssey because mine broke the old one was plastic the new one was also plastic i went to 2 hardware stores to see if i could get a solid rubber piece to fit in there no luck i had to stick with the original one it looked like it was pressed on to the body i got it on there i had to bang it in there with a hammer the piece is a bad design and chances are that will easily break i am guessing that is why you dont carry any of those in stock it had to be special ordered. But it was a fast turn around on getting the part.

Don't waste your time making a reservation.  It means NOTHING. First come first serve.  Had a 9 am appointment on a Saturday for a simple oil change. I was told 90 minutes,  ended up taking 3 hours.

Robert F. | 2014-10-14

3 hours waiting for oil change, tire rotation,  and emissions and inspection.   I even had a 8:30 am appointment!   I didn't leave until close to 12:30 pm.
Never informed of the estimated waiting time when booked via their website.  Also, charged me $59.99 for an air cabin filter!  The air cabin filter only cost $15 online.  Next time, I will consider going through a local mechanic who will be less expensive and time consuming.  It's also very annoying to hear the loud TV showing garbage ABC morning talk shows...They could also do a better job of providing fresh coffee, perhaps a Keurig would really go a long way towards satisfying customers when they wait 3+ hours for an inspection, emission, and oil change.  The total cost for oil change, tire rotation, emissions & inspection, as well as the air cabin filter came to over $150.

Horrible waste of time.  Salesman was an absolute jerk when he realized that he wasn't going to meet our numbers.  Unfortunately what he didn't realize had not shown his true colors we may have come up and bought...glad he didn't make the sale.
The overall look of the facility is in horrible shape - the bathrooms were disgusting.  Dirty and rundown - from the facility to the salesmen.

This a review on the sales department.

I had a fantastic experience at this dealership.

I was looking for a newer low milage stick shift.

I looked at a few options and ended up buying a 2012 civic si.

Matt Tractman, was the best car salesmen I've ever worked with, helpful, knowledgeable, knew when to offer certain things I cared about and needed, and left the things I didn't off the table.

If you are looking for a honda in the tristate area, check out this spot, I'm glad I did!

This is strictly a review for the Service department not Sales department.  I got leased a brand new honda Accord from this place, the sale experience was impeccable. Within couple of months the side camera stopped working suddenly.  Since it is still under warranty, I took it back and waited several days to get it back. Once I got the car, I took it up the highway and the camera was still so blurry. Therefore,  I took the car back and asked for the manager, the service manager (Mike) was rude and incompetent.  He looked a look at  the camera and yelled at me across the room " hey there is nothing wrong, I still can see the image. "  So we drove around the blocks and I can clearly differentiate the images were not that clear since I use it everyday for months.  However, manager Mike couldn't tell otherwise and stating they fixed the problem. Im so glad that I leased this car instead of buying.  Ill definitely return this car when the lease is up and will never buy another Honda.

all I have to say is BRIAN GOODE is the best. in a world of snakes and charlatans that don't even run a good looking hustle, this guy puts service and style back into old fashioned sales and relating. even though I ended up buying my new honda from some jerk in queens with the lowest internet price at the end of season---after 11 different dealers, 6 honda dealers deep---this guy was seriously the best salesman I met and a real pleasure to work with. Brian was kind, competent, and honest; he listened to what I wanted, helped me refine my desire and then very simply and efficiently worked to get me the car I asked for at the price I wanted. he was honest and knowledgeable, a real delight to deal with. brian goode is hands down the best person selling hondas within 100 miles of philadelphia.

This is a comment only on the service here.

I've found this place to be consistently honest when it comes to not overcharging or pushing unnecessary repairs.  They've never tried to scam me or push unnecessary repairs on me.  They've always been consistently friendly, and they've been timely about finishing repairs.

My only complaints are that I've had a couple experience with this place actually slightly under-estimating on the work my car actually needs.  I took my car here to get regularly scheduled maintenance, and an inspection.  The car passed inspection except for a headlight, and they said the car was in excellent condition.  However...two things went wrong with the car shortly thereafter: the car was riding rather bumpy, and eventually started scraping going over bumps a few months after this work--I would have appreciated at least a heads up on the suspension needing work (it seems suspension in something places always tell you to replace so I'm a bit surprised on this).  Also, the 12V battery completely died on me unexpectedly...turns out it had never been replaced on an almost 8-year old car.  Would have appreciated if they had given me a heads up on this one because it died at an inopportune time and I had to get a jump start.  But this stuff could both be my fault because I haven't always come in exactly when recommended (by month or mileage)...I sometimes am a couple months or a couple thousand miles late on the recommended services.

Also, being a dealer, some of the things here are just too pricey.  $400 for the parts and labor for a broken headlight casing?  No thanks.  I bought the part online and got another garage (Wayne's garage in West Philly) to install it for under $37 for the part and about $100 labor.  That said, on many things, the prices here are still very reasonable.  Oil changes are actually quite competitive here.  Also, when my 12V battery died and I got it replaced, and the radio needed to be reset, when I dropped by this place they showed me where the radio code was kept in the car, without charging me.  Good job!

Overall, though, my complaints are minor.  I will continue to return here for service, but I will not use them for everything.  In the few cases where I know enough to order parts myself or install them, and for certain types of things that are pretty straightforward, I think it's not worth paying the dealer premium.

Last comment...location.  This location is sort-of accessible via public transit.  I.e., you can walk over a mile to the trolley, or you can take an awkward bus route and then get downtown via a connection.  It could be worse--I'm grateful that it's possible to get here via public transit.  This shop also has a shuttle that takes people places...which is nice, but in my experience I've had to wait long enough to the shuttle that it's usually worth walking up to the trolley route, which runs pretty often.

Dealers aren't always the best choice for service, but for certain types of work or repairs they can actually be a very good choice.  If you want to go to a dealer for service, this is a fine one to go to, and I would gladly recommend it!

My review is of the service department. I've been leery of going to a dealership for service because I know that it can be expensive. However, because they are closely regulated, they don't recommend services that you don't need, though the parts and labor are more expensive, so it's a tradeoff.

As a female, who doesn't know very much about cars, I'm always worried about getting ripped off. I received a high quote from a Midas shop for a service that they had given me just over a year earlier. I balked at the price and worried that there was something really wrong with my car so decided to suck it up and take my car to the dealership rather than pay Midas. At Piazza Honda, the service department (Lionel) looked over my car and said that I didn't actually need the service that Midas said I needed. And, that part of what Midas had recommended (replacing two tires with dry rot) was really optional, not necessary, because the tread was still good and that by rotating the tires, I could avoid replacing them until my next oil change. Bottom line, I paid around $80 for diagnostics and saved $300 by not replacing my tires and another $285 by not replacing calipers that were in good shape.

People often say to go anywhere but the dealer for car needs.  Dealerships tend to be a bit pricier, but I would rather pay a little extra for excellent customer service. The staff here is very professional and courteous!  As an added benefit of purchasing a car from here, they offer free parking and shuttle service to and from the airport anytime you are traveling.

Sybil K. | 2012-08-17

I come here for service and I have to admit I've been leery of certain maintenance issues they said were a must. I went in for an oil change and walked out spending almost $300. The car was less than 2 years old.  And it wasn't that I needed tires.

As a non mechanic I feel like easy prey.

I love Mark in Service, from Piazza Honda! I live in Baltimore. I was visiting Philly, and a problem I already knew about, started acting up.  I had a pending case with Honda (my car is less than 6 yrs old, and parts were already going bad..), and Mark took care of me.

Not only did Honda comp all but $100 of what was quoted as $900 in repairs, but Mark comped a day of my rental car!  He was incredibly easy to deal with, and the whole service department was very efficient.

Driving off the lot, my car just felt like it was running so much better, and, although I have a hybrid, my car has never gotten more than 32 mpg. After getting serviced at Piazza, I am now getting 42 MPG! I couldn't be happier. If I could drive to Philly for all my service needs, I would!

Before I get to the meat of my review let me say that if it weren't for the car I was sold, Piazza would get five stars.

I hate the certified used Honda I purchased here about 3 1/2 years ago. I vowed never to buy another Honda again. I still won't. Within a year of purchase the car needed a new transmission. After that  it needed some other crap. I forget what it was. I was mad, swore I was sold a lemon. Even now, everytime I get it inspected or have an oil change, they have to fill it up with transmission fluid. Sucks. I had not been back until last week because I couldn't take it anymore. I was told again by another car guy to take my lemon back to Honda to get it looked at. He did body work and later informed me that my car had been painted at least 3 times before. That wasn't in the Carfax. Someone else had also told me that.

Despite all of this, Piazza gets three stars anyway. I took my car in late last week and the associate was really helpful. He even covered the rental. He reminded me that I had a warranty and the work that needed to be done would be covered under it. It is unfortunate that they didn't do anything with the transmission even though I told them there was a problem with it. They did fix something else and my steering wheel that has tightened up my guns because it wouldn't move sometimes.

I would only purchase a brand new car here if I were you.

I've been thoroughly impressed with Piazza service ever since moving back to Philly.  I had to get 2 new tires, and they ended up being ridiculously expensive because of the rims I have on my car - when I got home, I looked them up on tirerack dot com and realized I paid the exact same price + labor.  I was very impressed.  Marc always explains everything extremely well, and he always remembers me which is amazing since I'm usually only in for check-up service.  I've compared the prices to that which I could find online, and they tend to be very near what you would pay.  As usual, with a dealership the biggest expense is with labor, but I don't find it too extreme for a dealership.

My boyfriend bought a 2008 Civic with Piazza, and he's a big negotiator with salesmen, and even he feels like he got a very fair price when buying last year.

Annoyed to see that most of the filtered reviews are 5-stars and the ill-informed 1-star reviews are still shown.

This review is for the Honda body shop. I had $2,500+ damage to my 2011 Honda CRV and since I was at fault with no car rental insurance, I was out of a car for two weeks. During the process, the estimate needed adjusting with the insurance company and of course parts had to be ordered. Takeo from the shop kept in good communication with me on the status of the car and went above and beyond in service. A potentially very frusterating experience of being without a car for two weeks was a positive one. The car looks great and runs well. Thank you!

Drew W. | 2011-08-23

The worst service and a ripoff on auto repair. I am reporting them to BBB for price gouging.  My car was towed there and as a result they knew I couldn't go anywhere else. $165 for a new key, that I didn't need and nearly $800 for a starter. If I could give them a zero star I would.

Es L. | 2011-08-16

bought our used minivan from here even though it's an hour away from home. s jersey honda dealers were just horrible and piazza quoted us the lowest price. three stars is considered really good since i can't give any car dealer anything more than that- no matter where you go, you're getting screwed somehow. this is not the place to go if you want to walk out with a new, used car. not sure if we had bad luck but nothing was ready to go and we had to wait a couple days for them to fix it up and certify it. if you buy your car here though, make sure to have them throw in car mats for free. newbie mistake of ours since this was our first time buying a used car. =P Frank C was cool to work with- doesn't really BS you and is more straightforward. the guy we really liked though was the financing guy (whatever the official title is but the one who does all the paperwork and handles the money stuff). he helped us out by giving us a lower interest rate than what we were hoping for and was just a really nice guy overall (wish i remembered his name).

Great experience at Piazza Honda!  I made an online appointment for an oil change a couple days in advance.  Upon arriving, I was greeted and only had to wait about 30 minutes for the service to be completed.  I thought the price was very reasonable- $28.  In California I usually paid through the nose to get service at the dealership!  I will definitely be back!

Brian B. | 2010-08-21

These guys will pull out every sales trick in the book on you if you're not careful.  When they ask you to come in to pick up your car make sure you settle on an exact time and that you'll want to sign the papers immediately.  Otherwise they'll purposely keep you waiting so you'll be less inclined to read through your paperwork.

kenny k. | 2010-08-16

So let me start off by saying, no, I am not writing this because I think that I paid less than I would have anywhere else. But let's be real, you only bring your car to a dealership if you want to know you are getting good parts and specific expertise. You don't go to get a deal.

I recently went on a long road trip and my car's engine light came on the night before heading home. My car also began sputtering noticeably. I recently just started a job that required a car for the commute and the last thing I need is to miss any time or incur any extra costs because my car broke down. So I figured it best to take it to the closest dealer.

I'm not saying my car is on steroids now, or that it purrs like a kitten, but what I did get was really good service. I was helped by a man named Marc who was not only pleasant, but honest about things. I never got the feeling that he was upselling me or anything... I did that myself by asking him to check the alignment and giving me an oil change. I had called earlier to ask if they had loaners and they said no, but there is a hertz rental service on site. After filling out some forms, he started bringing me over to the hertz counter. He noticed the line was significant and offered to call enterprise to make sure I could get to work at a reasonable hour. He could have moved onto the next client and left me to wait, but he didn't. Additionally he offered to pick up the cost of the rental, should I need anything more than minor work. Admittedly, this may be a standard service, but I havent owned a car in over about 10 years.

They called when they said they'd call. They were prompt. They fixed what they needed to fix. They gave me service with a smile and yes, they picked up my rental car tab.

The kicker is that when they called the final time to confirm completion, Marc told me to call him any time, even if it's just with a question about my car. I thought that was nice.

Highly recommended.
