Reviews on Barberas Autoland

I really liked that my sales person wasn't pushy, sleazy, and didn't smoke in front of me. I've had plenty of bad experiences in the past and dreaded coming to a dealership, but Marc B. was top notch. I don't even know if Marc is a smoker, but nothing is more irritating to me than when you step out the door to go look at some cars and the sales person lights one up. Marc gave me the best experience I've had buying a new car.

Surprised at all the negative reviews, I bought a 2012 dodge charger, traded it in, for a 2014 Jeep Wrangler unlimited, never had any issues with sales or service. A local dealership in Burlington where I bought 3 vehicles, couldn't and wouldn't match Barbera's pricing, even being a repeat customer. Maybe I'm the exception to the rule.

Horrible and deceiving, no help from general manager. I will pursue legal action.

It's a shame I even have to write this. I went to Barbara, about a year ago interested in a brand new 2014 Dodge Charger. I originally emailed them about the car I wanted and spoke with "Mel" so originally she was handling everything. A week or so later I went in to meet "Mel" but she wasn't there. I Spoke with "John Pagano", at the moment they didn't have the car I wanted, and a dealership in Owing Mills Maryland did. Now I'm looking to buy a 2015 Dodge Challenge, so what do I do? I email a couple dealerships, and "Amy" from barbera gets back with me. I email her what I want detail, by detail. Currently I work in the medical field and don't have many free hours to come inside and speak. So like most people in the 21st century, I handle business, via email, and electronically communicate. Yet I get 2 very in the least unprofessional emails from "John Pagano". One I posted a picture of on the review page. In ending the "Barbera Dealership" can offer me a car for 1$, and thanks to "John Pagano" I wouldn't think about accepting that deal. It's the principle, customer service is key. I will network and share my terrible experience, with colleagues, friends and family.

When i arrived to the dealership to drop my car off it was determined that either Barbera's or the RCS Auto dropped the ball on ordering my parts. Perla, the service advisor who assisted me however, took any and all actions to rectify the situation and get RCS to resolve it. She proactively reached out to them to sort out the issue and expedite service so that i only experienced a day or two delay on my car (this was the best case given the circumstances). She is definitely an A+ service advisor. I am sure we all feel car mechanics are some of the least trustworthy people in the world, but Barbera's is one of the few i can say i have had a good experience with thus far

Ill never go here just because they have the MOST obnoxiously loud commercial on the radio on all channels too.

Me and my husband havent even had our vehicle for 90days and it has trans problems, rear axel probs and more. When we test drove it it was fine. They do a really good job to hid issues on used cars amd trucks. And now i have to pay more to have it fixed will never do business with them again. We were actually considering them for our second vehicle but hell not anymore stay away. Im taking my vehicle to be fixed at better shop that will actually reslove my issues.

Wish I could give it ZERO stars...

Talk about disappointments...they just keep coming when I'm at your dealership.

I arrived to pick up my Jeep today (that was done last night) and there is still yellow on the white paint of the "new" car. (that I'm told came from the tire shine that your detailers put on the car....hmmmmm)  I'm very happy that I did not come pick it up in the rain last night b/c I would have probably left without examining the car and seeing the issue.

At this point, you have inconvenienced me soooo much that I am thinking about reviewing the paperwork with the lawyer at my office to see what I can do to get out of this deal completely.

I just can't get over it...

the only thing this place has going for it is its inventory.  I was in a pretty bad car accident (my car was totaled and I was trapped in the car until rescue folks came).  I didn't have much turn around time, about a week until I had to buy a new car.  I knew what car I wanted, and made an appointment to test drive and talk numbers.  The first person I saw asked me when my husband was going to come... after I told him I wouldn't deal with him after that comment, he sent his manager over.  His manager asked me if "mommy and daddy were buying me the car"... seriously?  Is that was happens when a women walks into a car dealership??  needless to say, I didn't purchase the car at Barberas, I went to Reedman Toll and had a MUCH better experience.

I went there to get my spare key fob programmed, the staff was nice and friendly and they told me that it would only take 30-45 minutes to program the key. However, an hour and a half later I asked the person who was taking care of the key how much longer it would be, he said it was done and in 5 minutes and he would close me out. Well getting closed out proved to be similar to getting closed out at a packed college bar because they were so understaffed and finally I  was on my way 20 minutes later. The price was good, 50 bucks which was a better deal than other local dealerships I had called. Also, while I was waiting for the key I decided to take a look around the lot and the salesperson was very helpful in answering my questions on the safety of newer models of Jeep Wranglers. Minus waiting longer than I expected I'd say it wasn't such a bad experience.

Why am I forced to give this even 1 star?

Hands down the worst experience I have ever had with a service department in my entire life.

I will never return, and I will encourage everyone I know who drives a Chrysler never to come to your shop.

Fred S. | 2014-01-28

Service shop is a Major ripoff $$$$$$$$$.  Find a local shop instead.  Only good thing about the place is Ivanna.

Chris S. | 2014-01-11

It wasn't bad! Sure they're high pressure. Sure they're a little weird with the announcements when a car is sold. But if you do your homework, stick to what is reasonable based on research they'll make the deal. Out of the 3 dodge dealers we visited, our sales guy was by far the most knowledgeable on his products. I saw reasonably happy customers there too!  I could do without the 500 Barbera ads on each car plus we had to correct the finance guys numbers (seemed a legit mistake). All in all, they were helpful and professional.

Gabrielle S. | 2013-12-13

I don't even want to give it one star. Worst car buying experience ever. We bought a car at the end of Feb. traded it in in the beginning of May. Enough was enough with it. The sold us a piece of junk. It was a scam.

Michelle C. | 2013-06-14

I cannot believe this place is still open. Keep on driving. DON'T STOP PEOPLE!!!!  I'm serious. And don't bother calling. They'll just give you as little help as possible so you feel like you have to go in person and that's when the REAL DISAPPOINTMENT  reveals itself.  They don't deserve one star!  Just listen to their slogan " is Barbera the best? Boy. I guess". Ha! I guess is right!!!

4 terrible reviews out of 5.  I am not surprised!  And here is another from today:

"Art" was his name and what a nasty, rude douchebag.  I learned later that he was the president of the dealership!  What a joke!!!  I came in today interested in getting a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo Limited trim, so I wanted to look at everything they had in stock for this trim.  The first thing he tells me is "the 2014 Laredo didn't come out yet."  You will find this to be untrue & complete bullshit if you look at their website and look at the cars on their lot.  So you can imagine his surprise when I pointed out a 2014 Laredo parked on their lot.  What was worse is he kept showing me other models like the Summit and Overland that I had no interest in whatsoever.  And everytime I mentioned "Laredo" so that he'd stop showing me other models, he kept pointing me to the one same model parked in their lot.  Their website shows they have more than 8 of these models!  And then for some reason he got very annoyed with me.  That was the icing on the cake for me.  I had visited other SUV dealers (Toyota, Nissan, and Kia), and was not treated this way.  I got so frustrated and told him, "Nevermind.  Forget it.  You are absolutely useless."  And walked away.  Do NOT go to Barbera's Autoland dealership because like these other reviews are saying, there are plenty of better dealerships in Philadelphia for you.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.

went in yesterday to try and buy a car that was supposedly being held for us. their salesperson chris & i completed my credit application via the internet and everything was supposedly approved, upon arrival chris ran home cause his wife had a flat tire ( what no AAA ?  in the car business ?  really ? ) so he wasn't their nor was the car ( just sold about an hour ago ), was switched to a salesman " mark " who tried his best but they just couldn't deliver the goods, never offered to dealer trade, credit was an issue ( was never submitted ) and was like a mushroom " kept in the dark & fed poo " so if you want to waste 4 hours, like bait & switch, want to be pressured into buying something you don't want, you'll love this dealership, they lie and cheat and do anything possible to close a deal, no wonder their sales people rollover more than a dog, ashame they are still pulling tricks rom 1975 today because it didn't fly back then and is even worse now in the 21st century, steer clear at all costs

If  I could rate lower, I would rate -55.  Stay away from this dealer. I took my  car (PT Cruiser 2001)  there for service, there was an obvious problem of low mpg with my car. It had 10 mpg (which is horrible). I took it to the dealer expecting that they would define the problem clearly. And the mechanic said there was no problem with the car. And I asked him, then " why I fill the tank for every 120 miles I make?" . He couldn 't come up with an answer . And I asked him if they were still gonna charge me , cause they couldn't even define the problem as "?professionals?". He said yes, and they charged me $110 for wasting 2 hours of my life and for not fixing my car . I told people there, they didn't even care. What I understand is they are professional in raping people, not fixing cars. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! THEY ARE GONNA TAKE YOUR MONEY AND NOT HELP YOU.

Horrible customer service. The salespeople are not trained on the cars they sell - every question we asked was met with, "I'm not sure." A quick review of the website could net better answers than what their own sales people gave.  They were not knowledgeable about factory incentives or finance offers at all, and were completely shady about their finance options.  The worst part is, they gave out my cell phone number to a marketing company that calls me now several times a day!!

Please go ANYWHERE else besides this scummy dealership for your new car!!

I purchased two vehicles from this dealership (unfortunately) months apart. I have had multiple warranty/service issues and complaints. Complaints to the Insurance Dept, Better Business Bureau, and PA Attorney General were useless. This dealership somehow protected itself via an internal sale. The previous owner (current employee) went bankrupt and sold to a family member or friend.. Anyhow, this dealership is VERY dishonest. There are so many other reputable options in Philadelphia. You have officially been warned.

What a great surprise! I was looking for a new Jeep and figured I would give Barbera's on the Boulevard a try. They've been a fixture in the Northeast and I drive by often so I was pleasantly surprised to find help right away from a salesman named Walla. He was able to show me the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited I was looking for and we even compared it to some other models they had. I settled on the Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Special Edition of which they had several. The negotiation was easy and we struck a deal quickly. Dan was the sales manager who introduced himself and handled my paperwork. They were busy but I was very comfortable while waiting to complete the paperwork, they had water and popcorn and other snacks and treats for me to enjoy while I waited for various verifications and documents. The overall experience was unlike other dealerships I had been to in the area. Barbera's handles many people (they were busy) and they seem equipped to make everyone's visit there a great time! Ask for Walla in sales for a great car shopping and buying experience. Highly recommended to my friends and yelpers!

Closed?

But I heard on the radio that they have ma-ma-ma-minivans from $19,990!
I avoid them based solely on their advertising.

Greg W. | 2012-04-06

I went to Barbera's to check out the Dodge Charger and had a horrible experience. The salesmen could not tell me anything about the car and they selling points he offered were the worst features (ex. gas cap, hood strut, and sun visor). After the test drive, I was really pressured into buying the car. I wanted to hear the offer price so I went into fill out the paper work. After waiting one and half hours, they could never produce a price for the car. While waiting, I tried to devise multiple fake circumstances to get away from this awkward experience. Such a horrible experience.

My dumb ass got talked into buying an 08 dakota when i wanted a 2010 dodge ram. Salesman was slick as hell, i have to hand it to him. I was new to buying an automobile and they seen me coming a mile away. The next few days the realization of being raped up the a** settled in and oh boy did i get f*****. 7 months later i ended up going to family dodge where the service and customer service was night and day compared to those nazi's at barbera. i was lucky enough to trade in the lemon of a truck for the car i wanted all while not getting reamed in the process. F this place ! F this place right in the fuc**** a** !

OH HELL NO!

I'll get into more detail once the saga finally ends but to be short and to the point I took my Jeep in last JUNE to fix the A/C and as of MARCH 25th it is still not fixed!!!!

They could have built 10,000 new Jeeps for me in this time. A baby could be conceived and delivered already! WHY CAN'T YOU FIX ONE COMPONENT OF A CAR'S SYSTEM??????

People, there were more than one occasion in which I had left my car with them for over 5 DAYS!  Once for over 10DAYS! and still not working right!

I lost all faith in these guys months ago, but I'm invested in them now. If you can, go elsewhere for your repairs.

Isn't this lackluster dealership STILL OPEN??!!!

What was supposed to be an in-and-out routine lube and oil change somehow developed into an all day affair. I'm still baffled as to how these guys were so careless and negligent in their conduct that they made a new customer wait nearly 3 hours for a simple procedure when I even had an appointment!

I actually chose the factory authorized service center at Gary Barbera over the local Jiffy Lube because of a promotional deal I received in the mail from Jeep.  Considering all the services rendered on the car for the price, including a 15-point inspection, I definitely saved money.  Then again, isn't my time worth something?
