bought a used 2007 mazda 3
car looked nice until after first rain storm and then all these scratches and marks appeared.. wax coverup ?
we paid extra for the warrenty which two week after having car we had engine problems that they wouldnt cover on the warrenty... car came with one key and said they would mail the second one when they found it.. after a month i called down and they told me they have no record of me ever buying a car from them and therefor could not help me... i get emails and paper mail from all the time so that was a lie

I came back from deployment to my old car with a rusted frame that could not pass a state inspection. It would cost more to fix than it was worth. After taking the input from my wife (which wasn't helpful) on what type of car to buy I stumbled across Ladd-Handford. This being the 5th dealership I had contacted for vehicle information I knew from the onset that this place was different. I spoke with James Green who, unlike most salesman at OTHER dealerships, didn't seem like he was selling me anything. Now that may sound strange but, I hate being TOLD what I should like and buy. I walked him through my financial constraints and told him about what my bank had per-approved me for and the rate. My wife and I were able to not only get a better rate than my bank was offering, but got my old busted vehicle as a trade-in, a military discount, and all manner of genuine helpfulness. It is apparent that everyone who works at Ladd takes pride in the job they do and the quality they provide for others. I not only walked away with my first ever BRAND new vehicle but all manners of other protections (from my children wear and tear) for my vehicle and more UNDER what I wanted to pay per month! I will not only be going there for future purchases but shall be taking my vehicle there for maintenance and any other questions I might have. This week I helped a friend with the process of buying a car.  We ended up purchasing a certified pre-owned Mazda from Ladd-Hanford.  

I found L-H online as I was looking for the particular model of car my friend wanted.  L-H had several of them on their lot, which was not the case at most other lots.  We made the ~1 hour drive up from Lancaster early in the week to look at them and were able to test drive two after determining that those were the most desirable for my friend.  

Our salesperson Brian was helpful.  He didn't try to fumble through answering our questions but admitted when he didn't know the answer to something and found out the answer for us.  (Other salespeople of all kinds - take note, that is the PROPER way to respond when you don't know something.  If you make up your answer, anyone with reasonable intelligence will know it.)  He enabled us to go on a test drive without him along for the ride, after we gave him a copy of a driver license and filled out a temporary registration for the car.

We didn't buy the first day, but asked about the price and received a call back that day.  They were not willing to discount the sticker price.  I asked about this repeatedly, even returning with my friend later in the week intending to buy, but the "managers" were not willing to discount the car.  They were willing to do a little additional paint and dent work for us and agreed to supply us with a bottle of touch-up paint.  Additionally they have an oil-change program where you buy 4 and get the 5th free, and they offer free state inspections for you and your household when you buy the car from them.  These (along with the certified pre-owned warranty) where why we ultimately decided to buy the car, where normally I would have held out for a bottom line price discount.  The interest rate we were offered was very good, although my friend's excellent credit certainly helped that.

The finance guy did of course try pretty hard to sell us an extended service contract and GAP insurance, but after I put my foot down saying "we talked about these things in advance and we do not want them," he backed off.  He asked why, and I told him they aren't worth it because I've bought them before and it was a waste of money -- especially on a reliable car like the one we were buying.  

The only time we were left waiting was while the financial paperwork was being drawn up (about 30-40 minutes), which in my opinion could have taken much less time.  In general we weren't willing to sit around and wait, but of course after we agreed to the purchase we just had to wait for the paperwork.

We will be scheduling the service for the car to coincide with the 30-day checkup that L-H provides (another good after-the-sale value), and so far we feel like the deal was a positive experience.

Bottom line: good price for the car, treated well by our salesperson, of course the dealer still wants to make money wherever possible but if you know how to stand up for yourself they are a good place to do business.
