I am really impressed with SwedeOne. They are a down to earth, understanding auto shop that will work with you to keep your car purring. I have a beautiful 04 Volvo S60R and if you have one as well you know it is hard to to find a mechanic that you trust. Before taking my car into SwedeOne I vetted them several times to make sure that they know Volvo's, I called and spoke with them, talked to them in person and read reviews online. All of this reconnaissance led me to take my car to them. Trust me when I say you will be happy with the work that they do for your car.

I have a volvo s80 and as many of volvo owners it can be hard to find a gokd service shop. I looked around for some time when I discovered that my volvo needed some kind of software update. not only was Swed One the only place besides the dealership time and time again they were reffering me to Swed One. my apt was to be at 9am 12/29/14 I arived early. No less than 5mins had passed and I was checked in, Iwalked around discoverd that this was a passion of sorts for this shop. At that moment I was met by a person I assumed was a tech, his name was dave was great customer service and gave  me answers to questi I n and concerns I was having. Come to find out dave was not just a tech but the owner, His knowledge and customer service was a breath of fresh air from other services provided at other shops. Great job SwedOne you have earned a new customer. Thanks again to dave for provided great service at great prices

In July I was in need of a new car.  As much as I loved my 1989 Toyota Camry, whom I affectionately refer to as Isaac, finally reached his golden years I knew my frequentl commute between Portland and Ashland was eventually going to end in disaster.  I knew I wanted a nice car - something respectable in the work place but not terribly over the top while at school.  Something like a Volvo or a Saab seemed to fit the bill.  

On a lark I decided to check out the cars they had on the lot.  I ogled over the S60s and S80s, but when I laid my eyes on the decidedly non-box shape of the S40 (still listed as sold on their site as of this posting) I was sold.  The salesman, Jim, cannot deserve enough praise for all his help.  I work in Tigard and live on Mt. Scott in SE Portland.  I have a long commute and my weekends are precious.  Jim stayed after work for me on several occasions so I could test drive the car, get opinions from different family members, and get my finances in order.  Jim even went so-far as to hold the car for me without payment as he could tell how excited I was about the prospect of getting a new car.

The negotiation process involved an impressively low amount of BS.  Jim and I worked out a more affordable price, took care of some minor issues on the vehicle, and even gave me a checkup call on two occasions after purchase.  The owner Dave went to great lengths to ensure I was satisfied with my purchase.

In August my grandfather also made a purchase from Swede One - the Green Volvo S70 listed as sold.  I mention this because my grandfather is a very, very particular man with intimate knowledge of cars and has very little patience for bullshit.

No institution is perfect.  In full disclosure, after purchase my car required an alignment and part replacement which Swede One covered.  If you're in the market for a used car of Swedish flavor, but don't want to gamble on the more seedy parts of 82nd Avenue I suggest you go here.

**UPDATE 10/9/2014**

I recently learned that I was missing a timing cover bolt, an unnecessary but helpful little bolt designed to properly anchor the plastic housing over the timing belt, was missing during some routine maintenance.  I verified the proper part number at a Volvo Dealer here in Seattle (Ravenna Volvo proved very helpful), and contacted Dave directly at Swede One.  Dave and I spoke briefly and the missing bolt was shipped to me in Seattle at no cost.  I add this update because Swede One made a point of telling me they replaced the timing belt prior to purchase which is pretty nice to know on an older, high mileage vehicle.  I was a bit concerned at the bolt's absence, but after a brief and to-the-point conversation with Dave the issue was resolved.  Even after buying the car a year later, I appreciate getting something so minor taken care of without a hassle or blame-game tactics I've experienced with mechanics in past.

I sadly did not know about Swede One when I bought my 2000 Volvo V40 and it needed a lot of work.... I had it for a year and got so much done to it that I thought is was pretty much rebuilt, and it still needed more...
Then I heard of Swede One who specialized in Volvo's and I took my car there. They have done a fantastic job on fixing it and now I feel confident that the car will run properly! That means a lot to me since the first year it spent more time in the shop then with me driving it.
Everybody that works there is super friendly and definitely know how to fix a troubled car like mine was!
Thank you Dave and everybody else who worked on my car and made me happy with my Volvo!!!

My daughter is a student at PSU. She was driving a 2001 Volvo V70 that had trans problems. She needed to sell the car due to repair cost and contacted Dave at Swede One. I also contacted Dave to provide the service records. He was able to buy the car for a fair price. He also went as far as driving her to the credit union to deposit the check and drive her back to her apartment. I live in So Cal and I was relieved that Dave was so helpful and professional. Thanks Dave for great customer service.

I purchased a C70 from Dave and Jim. It's a wonderful car and dealing with them was great. I picked it up and later tried to use the CD player. It didn't work. So I took it back the day after I picked it up and they looked at it and said yes, it doesn't work - that particular model of CD player always had issues.

Dave went to his parts room, got me another one and replaced it on the spot. Now it works fine. No charge, no hassle. That's what I call standing behind your product you sold. A lot of used car dealers would have told me tough noogies - I purchased it as-is.

I'll be taking my car there for its service when it comes due.

even though the owner seems to think commenting that I was rude when I came in and asked a simple question, is a positive response, because he wants to insult me?   I still stand by my review.   I came in with a question, and without so much as even looking at my car?  I was told my car was toast.   I wasn't rude.  I had a question.  my keys were stuck, and I couldn't get them out.  the response was.... WHEN they do that in a volvo?  the car is toast.   she didn't even look at my car, and she wasn't a mechanic.  she just didn't want to help me.

I read the other reviews?  seems like this is par for the course.

if your looking for a volvo dealer?  go to jim fischer downtown.  they're stellar.

I have owned my Volvo s80 for 4 years now,I went out of town to buy it and had it two days when it left me stranded since I live up the street from Swede one I called them and even tough they were closing Dave told me to have it towed in they had it running the next day.
I won't take My car any where else, the service its great the staff is friendly and know what they are doing.

I have been a faithful swedeone customer for a couple years now, after deciding I was no longer happy taking my car to Jim fisher volvo. When you call and tell the amazing receptionist that knows her stuff, Charlene, she listens well to every problem and tries her hardest to diagnose the problem on the phone. When I bring my car in for an appointment, often times they ask me to show them the exact problem and the mechanics always figure it out quick and tell me exactly what they need to do and what the price range will be like. And often times its cheaper than they tell me (which is fine by me). When I pick up my car they tell me exactly what they did to a T. They car is always washed on the outside and vacuumed when I get it back (which Jim fisher always neglected to do) leaving me very happy with how it looks and how it drives. I would absolutely recommend swede one and will stay with them myself as long as I have my Volvo.

Stay Away from Swede One! This is the 1 and only review I've written on Yelp and couldn't allow my voice not to be heard. I thought I would be safe by purchasing a used Volvo based on their past reputation and certified mechanics on hand. I bought a 91' 740 Sedan that was on "consignment"  which drove well and had slight body damage. It was my foolish mistake to not have it looked at by a professional. I brought it to a reputable body shop 4 days after purchasing. They said it should've never been sold and was a complete lemon. The  frame had been heavily impacted and was only worth parts.  I immediately brought the car back to Swede One knowing I didn't have any legal recourse to return the Volvo but to explain that I had been duped and couldn't understand how their mechanics could have overlooked this when "going through" the car to sell. The salesman didn't care. He said that the money had been exchanged it was too late and he was sorry that a body professional had a "misguided opinion" of the car. Well, I'm still trying to fix that car 4 months later. Just  brought it in to get new tires and the service shop said they'd never seen alignment so far out on a car that they in fact couldn't completely correct it. It sits in our garage because it drips water into the car when raining. I cannot believe that these people continue to do business in Portland.

Terrible place!!! They sold me a car and within a year everything, and I mean everything, had broken. I took it in and they told me the cost to fix it was the same amount as what I had paid for it a year before! They explained tht a part was all rusted out and was very expensive to fix. It wasn't until I reminded them they had sold me this lemon that they made the repairs cheaper. But you better believe I'll never go back there!!

Go somewhere else. I went to SwedeOne looking for a Volvo and found one that looked good. The salesman, Ted, misrepresented the soundness of the vehicle. We had to pry to get any information on what he claimed was a pristine car for its age. Turns out it had been in a wreck and had been fixed with used parts from a "junk yard," according to my trusted, independent Volvo mechanic. The radiator was broken, the core support cracked; an axle inner joint was loose and one window inoperable. If you want a car-buying experience where you are given good, honest information and told of the car's issues upfront, go elsewhere. I would not suggest taking your business to this sleazy used car lot.

These guys are fantastic... we purchased a used older model Cross Country wagon this weekend, and the next day (Sunday) it died... I was SO upset.  Not only did they take it in the next morning (Monday) fix what we thought was the issue, they did it quickly and efficiently.  Then when the check engine light came on again later that evening, they took it in again and repaired the final issue!  At no charge to us... even though it was a Used "As-Is" vehicle.

Because we had never bought from them, nor did we know anyone who had, we relied heavily on social media reviews, which were positive.  I am delighted to add my own positive review!!

Thank you so much guys... I'm one happy new (to me) Volvo owner!
