Beware of this place takes advantage of the elderly. Was quoted one price but when returned to pick up her car the bill was double. Sure they had a receipt of services but did not call for permission for any of the extra services. And was pacifically asked not to do anything extra before leaving. Go some where else please.

Purchasing  a 2015 Chevy Volt, saw online price msrp $34,995, reduced to 28,995, called and asked about stacking a GM private offer of $1000, after a few emails we agreed on a price of 27,995.

I emailed the salesmans and confirmed the price, that we would sign for it the next day at 9am, advised him that we had no trade in, pre approved loan from credit union, and were not intrested in any extended warrenties or any other add ons from the finance guy when we got to see him.

Today is the next day. Leaving on trimet to go pick up the car, will update as we progress thur the day, really hoping it will be a painless experience.

9 am: changed our mind, Nikolaj Zekiah was very understanding, we decided to wait till 2016 model comes out. Im sure we were a pain in the behind customer, but they were very understanding

Bought two cars and traded in two......could have been a really bad experience,  but thanks to them it was not. We are very happy and already sent you our first referral! We bought a 2005 Honda Odyssey through Marcos just over 2 months ago. The whole process was very pain free. We walked in and told him what we were looking for, our price point etc and walked out with our van! When I came back in after getting the DEQ check done Marcos personally drove my van back to the shop and put the new plates on himself. We did have an issue come up with an item that should have been caught on the inspection that was done at their Honda lot up the street but Marcos worked diligently for me to try to get the issue resolved.

If you are looking to buy a car go see Marcos, he is a great guy and doesn't try to sell you something you don't want!

Ron Tonkin Chevrolet installed a defective recall part but is happy to replace it for $750.  

I originally took our 2003 Pontiac Vibe into Ron Tonkin in May 2013 for recall #13030 (install sub-wire harness on Electronic Control Module for SRS and install bolts in car window).

After spending nearly all day on the car, we picked it up only to find the passenger and driver's side door window control panels askew.  The passenger's side was easily able to be snapped into place but close inspection of the driver's side panel showed the snap closure had been broken when Tonkin tried replacing the panel. after bolt installation. We worked with their service department to have that part replaced on a future visit. On the way home from Tonkin, we discovered the air conditioning not working in the car - no light, no cool air - nothing.  After taking it back to Tonkin we were told they had accidentally not reattached the A/C plug after unplugging it to do the airbag recall work.  Oops.  Luckily they reattached the plug and it worked again.

Fast forward 11 months. In April 2014, we received recall notice #13112A.  About a week later the airbag light came on in our car. We made another appointment with Tonkin. They checked out the recall and said no repairs or changes needed to be done related to it. They also said they would have to charge us for diagnosing the reason for the airbag light. I basically refused to pay this $100 fee after they verbally told us the SDM was defective and there was problem with the seat belt pre-tensioner but that they could fix it for $750.

We escalated the matter to GM who also refused to pay to fix their defective recall part. The Service Manager at Ron Tonkin Chevrolet left a voicemail on my phone explaining why Tonkin's hands were tied about fixing my car after they broke it - stating two reasons:  1) The recall repair work had been done more than 12 months ago (not true - the repair work was done in May 2013 and the airbag light was evaluated in April 2014) & 2) The recall work conducted in May 2013 required no customer financial outlay.

When I reported the matter to the BBB and OR Department of Justice, the very detailed letter I received from the Service Manager does not indicate a defective SDM - despite what we were told in person.

Right now my airbag is still defective endangering my life and those of anyone who rides with me. It makes me so angry and sad that I ever went to Ron Tonkin for recall service in the first place.

While purchasing a new car at Tonkin might be a wonderful experience, working with them to manage the safety of an already purchased vehicle certainly is not.

I brought my car in for a scheduled oil change only to find out there had been recalls on the car that I had not been told of. They asked if I could leave the car with them all day, umm no it was a "scheduled oil change". I said they could do what they could but I had to leave at a certain time. Well 20 minutes after that time my car was done BUT there was a new problem now with my car and I would have to bring it back some other time and have them fix it. Well after rearranging my schedule I managed to bring it back the next day.  It took roughly 45 minutes to fix their mistake and off I went. I was driving on 205 bridge with wind gusts up to 45 miles and my hood startes to bounce (I drive a chevy spark) the flipping yahoos didn't shut the hood the the car. Freaked me out and when I called to complain all I got was I will tell my workers to be more careful, sorry about that. Ridiculous, crazy, stupid, careless, and dangerous.

Helped a friend by a car a couple days ago and it was lovely and she couldn't be happier. Used to find a few cars we were interested in. They had them brought to Tonkin Chevy. We picked one and purchased. The entire test driving and purchasing took 2 hours and was comfortable. Can't ask for much more.

I've been meaning to post this for awhile but felt I needed to calm down a bit first.

We own a 2006 Chevy HHR. It was subject to the recent ignition switch recall. We called the nearest Chevy dealership, Ron Tonkin Chevrolet
,… and were told they would have to order the part, it would take a few weeks and they would let us know when it arrived. After more than six weeks I decided to see what was going on. They said the part was still on order but if I wanted to make a service appointment they could use a part ordered for someone else who had not yet brought their vehicle in for service, which I did.

When we dropped our vehicle off we were informed there was another recall that we weren't aware of. Something to do with extra padding for collision safety. They said they had the parts and would take care of this too.

The first thing I noticed was the remote start didn't work. While the service guy checked it out he asked if I got the message about how to remove the key from the ignition. I told him I didn't and he proceeded to explain how the new ignition switch had exposed a "pre-existing" (according to the service tech) problem with the gear shifter.

Apparently something is broken in the gear shifter that prevents the key from being removed from the ignition switch without performing a contortionist maneuver to reach into an opening below the steering wheel and feeling around for a lever that when pushed will release the key. This is also what is preventing the remote start from working.

I explained that this was unacceptable. The only time I've had a problem removing the key from the old ignition switch is when the headlights got left on and drained the battery. After jump starting the engine and letting the battery charge for a bit, I shut off the ignition the keys came out just fine.

They gave us a loaner car and said see if there was anything they could do. A little while later we were informed that the gear shift problem was unrelated to the ignition switch recall and they would be happy to take $400 to repair the gear shifter.

We called Chevy Customer Care and the very nice lady said someone would be contacting the dealership to see what could be done about the situation. A few days later a not so nice lady called back to inform us there wasn't anything they could do for us.

To make matters worse, we have an extended warranty, that probably would have covered the gear shift problem had it not expired the week before. Had they not taken so long or offered someone else's part sooner we might have been able to have the repairs done under warranty.

So here we are, had a perfectly fine ignition switch (that MIGHT have had a problem) that was replaced under recall and now I can no longer use the remote start or easily remove the key from the ignition. I also noticed, for the first time, that the gear shifter can be moved into any gear without pushing the button on the gear shifter. I had none of these problems before taking our vehicle to Ron Tonkin Chevy and everyone seems to think it is our problem.

The only satisfaction I got out of this whole deal was returning the loaner car after running out nearly a full tank of gas. The service guy asked if I returned with the same amount of gas it had. I replied "no one said I had to". He asked if I would go fill it up so he wouldn't get in trouble. I replied "you didn't do much to help me with my problem so I'm not inclined to help you with yours". I'm not usually like that but they had it coming.

Since we had such a poor experience we've mentioned this to neighbors and acquaintances. Many of them had their own (or friends) stories about problems with Ron Tonkin. Hopefully, Facebook friends, you will never purchase a vehicle or take it in for service at any Ron Tonkin dealerships.

I brought my Silverado here for an oil change. I suppose they did a good job on that. After the oil change I was told my rear brakes were down to 2 percent and that repairs would be over $500. I took it to a Les Schwab and was told all brakes were fine, that I had 50% all around and there was no charge for the inspection. So, I will leave it to you to decide if the service department here can be trusted.  Needless to say, I would get nothing other than an oil change at this place.

I just moved to Portland and Oregon.  I have a new Chevrolet Volt that needs a front license bracket.  Normally dealers install these as part of the vehicle, but I did not have one.  

I scheduled a service to get a bracket on.  Asked for an estimate 2 times, in my initial schedule and in response to a confirmation email.  NO estimate.  

I pulled in today, the 4th of June.  The service guy, Mike, said it would be $60, so I ask how much for just the part?  His reply, Oh, yeah that will be extra.  Say $100.  I say wow I'm going to get another dealer.  Mike, no reply.  I can tell he really doesn't care that Tonkin Chevrolet is about to lose a customer forever.

I asked two questions when dealing with Tonkin Chevrolet.  How much is it going to cost me and How much for just the part?  They did not answer that question until I was on the lot and they added $40 to that after I asked my second question.  Never got an answer as to how much for just the bracket.

I drove out of the service bay a very unsatisfied potential customer.

Oh, well.  I got on ebay and ordered the part for $25.  Its 4 screws to mount.

Fantastic used car experience! I bought a car from them years ago and recently sold it. I had a great time driving this car and everything was in top condition. After years of heavy use, this car had no issues. I would absolutely recommend going to this place. I did a trade in for an inexpensive car, and I would do it again in a heartbeat. The guys here are extremely nice and they have top notch quality and service. In my years of dealership experience, this is the BEST I've ever had.

I've had so many bad experiences at other places, but this place was great. I also got a good price, but for the quality, I'd definitely be willing to spend more.

To be honest, if it weren't for Gallagher on sales and Will in the service department, I could have easily been swayed to shop elsewhere. I worked with Gallagher Bishop on the purchase of my first Equinox in 2011 and requested to work with him again on this purchase of my 2013 Equinox. Great to work with, great experience overall. As far as the service department, Will has always taken really good care of my vehicles. Thanks, guys!

I had a bunch of work done by them in at the end of July 2012, including a brake job.

My front right brake begin to make some horrible metal on metal squealing sounds, which was odd being that they had just been done ten months ago. I called them to ask what kind of warranty a brake job carries and was told 12 months or 12,000 miles. I had driven about 14,000 so it was apparently my problem now. I drove it squealing for a day or two till I could figure out what to do and upon arriving home one of the brake shoes was ejected from my brake (not a good sign)

I bought new brake shoes and rotors to fix my own brakes, having lost trust for others doing it. Upon pulling off the right side where the noise was coming from I saw that on one side the brake shoe was worn completely down to the metal and the other side was pristine new. This is very abnormal. I examined the caliper and saw that it had been ruined when the brake shoe was ejected, but not did appear to be the issue. After looking more I saw that one of the pins which allows the brake system to move around was frozen in place, while the other side was free and easy, this was the problem. After some working with the pin i got it to come lose and it was full of rust and had absolutely zero lube. When they did the brakes all they did was replace the brake shoes. The previous shoes must of been ground oddly and they didn't bother to take the time to find out why and just stuck me with new brake shoes. This cost me a caliper, a rotor and a set of brake shoes.

People go to dealers understanding they will pay a higher price and expecting great service, not crappy rushed work.

I did the other side of the brakes as well and found that the friction material had come lose from the brake pad, so that was destined to be a problem as well. Cheap parts and bad service. I do not recommend this place.
