Reviews on May Auto

Shortly after an accident that resulted in a total loss of my car, I went to May Auto seeking a newer used vehicle as a replacement. Although there was not anything in the lot at the time that fit my specific needs, the staff was friendly and straight forward. Didn't pressure me to settle for something they did have in stock, and even took the time to contact me when something that did fit my needs became available.
Although I did end up going for a brand new vehicle, if I where to start a new search for a used car the first place I would go would be May Auto!

i had enlisted May Auto to find me a vehicle and they delivered as promised.  They were fantastic to work with and found me the vehicle i was looking for in a timely manner.  I wasn't entirely sure which vehicle i wanted when i first talked to them (since i had about 4 different brands i was considering), but with their guidance and honesty about the vehicle reliability and total cost of ownership, i was able to make a decision. They are very knowledgeable and really knew what they were talking about.  It was evident that they place a high emphasis on customer service. When i went to pickup the car it was clean and just like they promised.  As a person who works for a family owned business, i try to support as many local family owned operations as possible, and i will definitely be back to may auto in the future.

I found a Mercedes Benz on craigslist being listed by May Auto. It looked beautiful, the price was right if not low compared to others at the time. I scheduled a test drive with the dealership during my lunch break from work. They setup an appointment with me. They were polite and quick. Just how I like it.

I arrived a little early for my appointment. As I approached the dealership, the salesman was backing out with the car I came to test drive. I was a little confused as to why he was leaving as I was arriving. He politely stopped and told me he was just gonna test the car out for a little bit.

When a dealer leaves a client standing in the parking lot while he tests a car prior to a client's appointment, that draws concern. My subsequent test drive and examination of the car later confirmed my suspicions.

The biggest concern during the test drive was the TRANSMISSION. There was obviously a sporadic problem that isn't there most of the time. While putting the car through its paces I accelerated to 50mph and let off the gas completely, the transmission generally disengages. This car stayed in gear and the engine roared as it decelerated. This is potentially a $5-10k PROBLEM.

The sales man didn't say anything. He just sat quietly and neglected the obvious concern and changed the subject.

The car was disgusting inside and out. How do you sell a car with a huge scratch in on the trunk and cigarette ashes on the black interior?

My next biggest concern was the PAINT. I was attracted to the car because of its Clean Title meaning no accidents, no theft, not a rebuilt or salvage title. Hiding under the unclean exterior was a front bumper with signs of buffing and wax. I felt and wiped the edges and it was evident, the bumper was REPAINTED.

To their benefit. I did not inquire about the transmission nor the paint as it was evident to me. This was a consignment vehicle they claimed to leave at home and didn't keep at the lot. I would suspect the sob story they told me about the previous owner buying it brand new from the dealership just months ago couldn't afford it and was losing thousands in the process because he was RETIRING. RIGHT. Of course I believe that.

Buyer Beware.

I had another pleasant experience with this business. Consistantly friendly and best deal in town. They go out of their way to satisfy the customer. Very honest people
