Reviews on Germain Ford

Mark K. | 2015-04-02

This review is for the parts department, not sales or service.

I was very pleasantly surprised.  Came here after not finding my paint at a parts store, and a little leery of going to the dealer.  Several employees helped me, and were very friendly and knowledgeable.  Prices were pretty fair.  They gave me some tips on using the touch-up bottle.  All in all, a much better experience than I expected.  I'll be back- it's handy for me.

Dealers seem to have improved their game, probably due to competition from parts stores and online sites.  I'm glad.  If your prices are fair and your service is good, you'll get my business.

This place is horrible,  I will not buy another car from Germain.   The sales process is very deceitful and dishonest.   They will tell you anything to get a sale.   I had to go thorugh the FI process twice because the first car was sold out from under me.  Also, items like locking lug nuts were promised at the time of sale but never delivered.   The sales manager led me on and told me to go to the parts department and pick them up on 3 different occasions.   After the third trip in, I was told that the car was not supposed to come with them.   My wife felt so bad for me that she went to a more reputable dealer in Canal Winchester and purchased them for me.   I really hope they are enjoying the $50 they bilked me out of and it was worth the loss of future sales.

Very disappointed that I purchased a brand new Ford Focus Titanium last week and was given every possible sales pitch on add-on custom mats, navigation systems, auto insurance, etc, but in the spirit of making a quick sale and clearing their lot of the excess 2014 Ford Focuses no one mentioned that the car had summer tires making it completely unsafe to drive in the winter. Unfortunately, I found out the hard way in the middle of rush hour traffic this morning that my tires had no traction and I was sliding uncontrollably on the snow covered roads.  This might be something you would expect from a luxury sports car but not from a Focus off the lot.  Now I'm stuck with a brand new car that is parked while it awaits winter tires.  This is the second car I've purchased from Germain and there will not be a third.

Horrible customer service. Dan cook, a service specialist said, "yes?" When I walked up to the counter as if he was annoyed that I was there. He took a phone call and someone clearly asked how long an oil change would take. He said "an hour to an hour and a half" and ended the phone call. I told him I needed an oil change and that my check engine light was on in my new truck. He said snobbishly, "it's gonna be a couple hours before we can get to your truck for an oil change" then walked away to my truck. He comes back and tells me no less than 4 times that my truck is past due for an oil change. I don't need a lecture. I get it. I told him I would take my vehicle elsewhere. Stay away from this place. Very rude employees.

Absolutely terrible!!!! Took my car to Germaine twice to be worked on and I will never go there again. Long story short, nobody knows what's going on with what or who or when. Its a huge cluster f%#k. At one point I got three different reports from three different people regarding what was going on with my car. Oh, and good luck getting a hold of their service center when you call in. In one day alone, I called exactly 15 times to try to get a hold of someone. The phone system kept putting me on hold and then sending me right back into their automated system. Smh. Go somewhere else, people. Don't say you haven't been warned.

I picked my car up today from Germain Ford. I thought my car would need repairs covered under my extended warranty, and I was recommended to use this Ford dealer for the repairs by my third party warranty provider. I would not go here again. It turns out my car needed a repair related to a throttle body recall. I still ended up with a $250 bill, however, after agreeing to an alignment and replacing 2 hub cabs that had been damaged. The repair related to the recall was covered, but I feel very overcharged for the other services. When I went to pick up my car, I started to ask the cashier a question about my bill. She immediately called for a service tech that never came over to answer my question. She also took another call while I was standing at her counter and made me wait. The caller got so frustrated with the cashier's inability to address their issue they ended up hanging up the phone. I then asked if I was eligible for an employee discount with Ford because my dad works for Ford. Her response was "I don't think so." She then informed me they would also not be able to wash my car because their car wash was broken. She did not offer me a voucher or anything for a future car wash. I reluctantly paid my bill and upon getting in my car I found it to be very dirty both inside and out. My car wasn't clean when I turned it over to Germain for the repairs, but after spending as much money as I did on 2 hub caps and an alignment I was expecting there to be some improvement in the cleanliness. I even found a screwdriver left on the floor on the driver's side. I had to bring my car into Ford because of a recall issued by Ford, but I felt that I was not compensated in any way for my inconvenience. The experience I have had with my 2011 Fusion and this Ford dealership have made me reconsider ever purchasing a Ford again. I will say on a positive note, the service techs that called me to give me updates on my repairs were very polite and punctual. They got back to me in a very timely manner.

Their new service building is super slick. I went in for an oil change on the day before the 4th of July and was in-and-out in less than an hour. I didn't need to make an appointment or anything. They have very comfortable seats, some nice TVs and a Keurig-like (pouches, not K-cups) coffee maker with about 20 different flavors. The coffee tasted good too. I think I will come back here for my service just so I can get jacked on free coffee.

The front desk person was nice, but please Germain if you are reading this, buy the man a new printer! I watched it jam about 3-4 times while I was waiting for my service documents.

UPDATE: I reached out to their QuickLane manager and was told the Service Department handled my car, not QuickLane due to the construction going on. I got an apology for the misinformation I got regarding them charging for air filter installs (he says they do not). No real apology for standing in the rain under the hood due to their parts screw up. No real apology for the way I was treated. Only to funnel future repairs through him.

I had a good experience. The staff was fast and friendly. When the car my brother was looking at had issues, the salesman made sure to be up front and honest with us - which was a refreshing change.

It's pretty hard to stand out as a memorable car dealership.  Germain Ford is good.  They have considerate, obviously commissioned sales people.  Buy at the end of the month, end of the year, and you're more likely to get the best deal.

As we know, now is a difficult time for all domestic auto dealerships.  The good side of this is the ability to get good deals, especially on new cars.  Germain hasn't closed it's doors, but did recently make a lot of employee cuts.  It's unfortunate for any business when cuts are made.  Due to the ethical and professional standards, I do see Germain lasting through this downturn.
