Reviews on Columbus Mitsubishi North

Just bought my second vehicle from this family of dealerships, and everything went very smoothly.  Now, I don't buy cars very often, the last car I bought was a brand new 2001 Saturn, when this was a Saturn Dealership.  The owner of this dealership was also the owner of the Saturn dealership, so this is two positive experiences I have had with this dealership.  As a matter of fact, my salesman had been with this group long enough, he used to sell Saturn's here!  Enough about Saturn's, let's talk used car buying.

I found a late model, low mileage, mid sized sedan that was only slightly overpriced.  So I took it for a test drive on evening, and liked it.  It was a Friday at rush hour, so traffic was at a standstill, on both High Street and the freeway.  So it was more like a Sunday drive than a test drive.  Like a previous reviewer, I was a cash buyer, so I let them know up front that there was no financing involved.  I also never make a major purchase on the spot, so I told him I like it well enough, but needed to think on it.  Being a used car, I was warned that since it was "priced so good" it might not be there when I returned.  I told them I was willing to roll the dice.  I returned the next day, when traffic was low, and I could get it out on the freeway for a proper test drive.  I also told them I needed my mechanic to check it over, so I would have the car most of the day.  They had no problems letting me take the car for the day, as long as I returned it before they closed.  I would have rather kept it overnight, but that did not appear to be an option.  This is what makes this a 3 star, not a 4 star review.

The vehicle checked out very well mechanically, but there was one major scratch on the passengers side door .  I had not noticed it, my mechanic pointed out.  When I returned the car Saturday evening, I sat down to discuss purchase price with them.  We arrived at a fair price quickly and easily.  I informed them that the purchase was subject to the scratch being fixed BEFORE the check was written.  They told me their detailer was not in on Sunday, but I could buy now and pick up on Monday.  I told them I would wait until Monday to purchase instead.  Once again came the warning that they could not guarantee the car would be there.  I told them I was willing to roll the dice on one more night.  I called them Monday afternoon before I left to work to see if the car was still on the lot, and if the detailer had buffed out the scratch.  Both were answered with a yes.  So I left the office, went to buy my new to me used car.  Their detailer did a fantastic job.  The only ugly on the car was gone.
Another post negatively commented on their detail work, and fixing items post purchase on an "As-Is" car.  I do not know if they would have given me the run around on my scratch or not.  I have purchased several other used cars in my life, and am a firm believer in purchasing a car "As-Is".  If something needs fixed on a used car, it gets done before the deal is done.  Now, I have missed out on a few opportunities because of this philosophy, but I have never had issues with a dealership not honoring their word, because it is fixed before I buy.

I would recommend including this dealership in your next car search, as I found them to be honest and communicative.

I've been buying used cars for almost 50 years, negotiating with scores of dealers on many different models. Columbus Mitsubishi is, without exception, the worst experience I've ever had buying a used car.

I sought a cash deal; no financing, no trade. Simple. In and out. As an "As-is" vehicle, my car was priced well, but I've bought a good number of these and there are always things that if caught and mentioned prior to the sale, can be addressed. Even when a car is advertised as such, as part of the negotiating process, this is common. It was obvious to me that other than what they call a"detail" (a run through their wash rack, interior vacuum, a spray deodorizer and a wipe-down, there had been no reconditioning,  The rear seats were stained and the interior smelled peculiar. They said they would take care of both when they "detailed" it before I picked it up. CARFAX provided some maintenance records (my search, not theirs).

Upon pickup, I found little had changed, except there was some new (or previously missed) minor paint damage on the passenger door. It had been ineptly covered with touch-up paint.  Noting it, I asked that it be addressed. They refused. The car was "as-is," they repeated. From there, my every (small) request and suggestion was denied. They stalled at each negotiation point and made me wait as they paraded stooge after stooge before me to offer excuses. My salesman Hector Santiago was very nice but ham-strung by the dealership's completely inflexible, anachronistic, draconian sales management practices. That night, front-end noise that I'd not noticed on my brief, salesman-supervised (down to the route we took) test-drive indicated that it needs suspension work. And two days later, the rear-window spontaneously exploded.

To summarize, I felt completely disrespected and violated by this dealership. They talk about customer service but it boils down to's their way or the highway. I have serious buyer's remorse and kick myself for not walking out on the deal.

I did not look forward to this process. At my age, I'm tired and they took advantage of this. Suffice to say, I would never shop at Columbus Mitsubishi North again. Further, anyone so tempted would do well to reconsider available options. I can't over-stress this... It was a profoundly  miserable experience that will haunt me well into the foreseeable future.

They act nice to you face because all they want is for you to buy the car! NO CUSTOMER SERVICE AT ALL. I was a returning customer and was treated poorly. I bought a used car and signing of everything asked for the scratches to be taken care of. As this is something that should be done with any vehicle being sold over $10,000 I think. The bill due said to take improve all scratches. When I picked up my car from having the scratches taken out, it was parked outside in the dark covered in snow. So a few days later I noticed a SMALL rust spot not taken care of. And come on there is not way this happened in a few days. When I called to see about them touching it up to protect the car, I was told that they had already done enough, and that was the end of that!!!
It's pretty sad that Nissan north stepped up and helped me with this issue! I didn't even buy the car from them! thank you Nissan North!

I purchased my 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport here in June and I've serviced my previous Saturn vehicles there . From the experience with sales to the service I have had nothing but a positive experience. They have gone above and beyond to make sure everything is right by the customer. It's great to find a dealer that actually puts their customer's first.
