Reviews on Bayridge Volvo & Honda

I bought my new XC60 from Fouad Fares at Bay Ridge Volve. He was very rude to me when I called him about car loan issue. I was told I could receive 500 off from my first loan installment but I did get anything. When I called him asking why and he yelled at me saying"I did not say anything like this and I forgot what I ate 5 minutes ago and how can I remember anything 3 month ago?" I had such bad feeling when he shouted to me over the phone! Fuxx Fouad!

This is my second time coming to the service center and getting my cars inspected. I have been dealing with a gentleman named Keeshan. He is very friendly and has a high level of professionalism. The wait is never long and I would recommend this service center to anyone.

Horrible services. They will try anything to scam you out of your money.

Kinda surprised to have two bad experiences on the same day:

Parts: I called about a particular part, a heater core. Tommy said he has it in stock for 310. I asked what the list price is. He says that was the list price. But that he could give it to me for 218 but only if I ask for him. Needless to say the list is not 310. I believe his discounted price of 218 really is the list price. They were trying to get more than list for the part.

Service: I asked how much it would be to have the installation and part done. Service advisor says 1050 parts and labor. So that's about 830 for the installation. I asked how much long it would take and he says 4 hours easy. Well, I later learn that the book labor on the part is 1.8 hours. Not cool Bayridge Volvo.

I wouldn't do any business with them in the future.

This review is for my experience with the Bay Ridge certified preowned Honda dealership.
BEWARE of the hidden fees. They advertised one price online and when i got there to negotiate they hit me with over $1k in additional costs, non of which were mentioned on their website. I was able to negotiate and get those hidden fees waived but then I was back at the listed price.. Basically got nowhere.
Don't bother believing the person on the phone as they'll do and say whatever it takes to get you to come in, they earn $10 for doing so. Once I got there the sales rep told me they do that all the time and there's nothing they could do to honor what the person on the phone said, are you kidding me??
I was very disappointed by the whole experience and wouldn't buy a car there if they were giving it away for free. I bet the post-sale experience is just as sour.
I ended up getting my car at Paragon Honda, paid a bit more but got piece of mind and didn't deal with liars.

There check in is pretty quick, but will you ever get your car back and fixed appropriately that is entirely other story. I had to wait two hours to get a 15 min rim change and that was after i got upset. then they put the rim on the wrong tire, but while i was waiting for my car someone how a sales rep was able to contact me about possibly trading in my old one. Thanks honda. Then when i came back to do the diagnostic they are very through in their break down and the manager called me back to test the car with him, which made me feel bette,r but when i asked one of the reps over the phone while reviewing my diagnostic report again and asked if  anything needed to be replaced  immediately especially with the   concern of cost and durability, the rep  stated well the red means that it should be changed soon. When i had indicated that the print out stated one of my parts was broken she had stated yes but that does not mean you have to replace it now but soon and not to take the red to indicate that my car will fall apart on me. I was scared to drive my own car. I mean the word broken kind of is a big flag of immediate. I later took it to another mechanic for a second opinion he looked at me as if I was crazy and showed me nothing was broken. He literally showed me - Again thanks honda service center.

The only good review I will give is to the sales rep mark dance. he is patient and honest and gets the deal done. he works with you to make sure both the business is efficient and the customer gets a good deal. he pretty  much is the only person I will deal with.

This review is for the dealership. I have a separate review for the service center.

First things first, just because I'm an Asian customer doesn't mean I'm only looking for an Asian sales representative. I grew up in Brooklyn and probably speak better English than half of the people who work here.

Secondly, I know this is Brooklyn, but being in the sales/service department, don't you think you should treat your customers with a little less attitude? This 60 year old blonde bimbo receptionist with 15 pounds of makeup caked on her face was disgusting. When I get her name I'll be sure to write a complaint (that's if I ever come back here). She needs to learn how to greet people properly and not have a bitchy resting face, because that botoxed face is the first thing customers see when they walk in.

Thirdly, I don't know how many general managers there are here, but the one I came across was rude and obnoxious. You don't start off by saying I'm "insulting him" by negotiating for a better deal. If I was going to insult you, I'd say to lose about 50 pounds and learn to speak proper English.

Yes, this is an angry review based on a bad experience. That's not to say everyone who works here is terrible. Our sales representative, Graham, was great and was willing to put up with all our requests. But I will definitely be calling corporate to let them know Bay Ridge Honda has some cleaning up to do.

Brought my Honda Fit here for repairs after my dad backed into it with his SUV because of what I can only assume is unexpressed hostility. Never had such friendly and professional service from a mechanic before. They kept me updated throughout the process and got me my car back good as new. Best of all, my dad's insurance premiums went through the roof.

1) Quick service.
2) Nice people.
3) They told me the wait would be 2 hours but they were done within the hour.
4) 10% discount because I bought my car from here.

1) I can never find where the entrance is.

Hint: It's on 90th between 4th and 5th.

I have my car serviced here regularly and the service is pretty good generally.
This my service station of choice simply because of there working hours-they are very compatible with my crazy working hours!
Although, I must say they do (depending on service rep) at times try to selling you all kinds of unecessary services which I must say I have given into until I was told better. The prices are not the best but they keep me coming back because their hours are great, they have free newspapers and good shopping spots in the area.

This is based on two bad experiences here.  Well at least they hit a 100% in that category.

First off, do you ever wonder why people perceive New Yorkers to be unfriendly, unhelpful and just plain rude?  Personally I find this to be incredibly offensive, being a native New Yorker.  When you come here to Bayridge Volvo & Honda, you'll know exactly why we are perceived this way.  The people here are rude, and downright unhelpful, well at least the post-sales service people.  Come on, if I wanted to be disrespected and spoken down to I can get that treatment for much less than $30,000.

Today I took ,my car in to get it serviced.  Took a bit of time for anybody to pay attention to me at the service desk.  Come on I'm standing right in front of you...  So this is how it went down.

Me:  Hello.  (Hands over paper.)
Guy:  What you here for?
Me:  The recall service.
Guy:  You have an appointment?
Me:  Yes for 9:00.
Guy:  She got you.
(Well hmmm...  Guy that is not doing anything sorry for bothering you and trying to get you to do work, I will go to the girl that is doing nothing so that she can do work and you can continue to stand there and do nothing.)

Me:  Hello.  (Hands over paper.)
Girl:  What are you here for?
(Okay now seriously you didn't hear the conversation that I had with the guy that was standing 2 feet away from you?  You were doing nothing and looking at us, so does that mean you were staring blankly at us, or are you just following the book?)
Me:  The recall service.
Girl:  We're going to do a maintenance check for you.
Me:  Okay so how long is it going to take?
Girl:  A couple hours.
Me:  Is there a better estimate?
Girl:  It says at least half a day, we try to get it done in a couple of hours.  You going to be in the area? Do you have a number you can be reached at?
(I give her my number)

Takes 2 hours to get home.  Took the subway for an hour and 40 minutes or so, get on bus, oh there's a voicemail saying my car is ready.  Seriously?  That is not a couple of hours...  That is not even more than 1 hour.  I could've waited an hour or two...

Other bad experience had to deal with me being out of state, and I had to jump my car, resetting my navigation system.  Needed the pin number on my navigation system to get it on again.  Called and they wouldn't give it to me, and had to drive to the closest Honda dealership.  But get this, I was halfway across the country and they wouldn't help.  I was at the Honda dealership halfway across the country and they called the Bayridge dealership and couldn't even get the pin number and also got an earful from the girl, just like I had when I called.  Okay disrespect the customer and disrespect your colleague from another dealership.  Very classy indeed.

If you want to buy a Honda or a Volvo and expect to be treated like a human after handing over $30,000, do not ever make a purchase here.  I have vowed to never let myself or anybody else I know to buy a vehicle here.

Great young team at the dealer. They helped me get a 2012 Jetta SE lease at a great price. Lavell and Jorge were both informative and extremely responsive to all my extensive questions.

Not your average dealer.

P L. | 2011-05-09

Terrible attitude.  Attempted to drop my vehicle off for an oil change.  The price listed on line is $79.95.  They were actually going to charge me $100.  "The price online is incorrect".  I was told.  Also, I asked a favor to hold my car for four days as I was traveling of town.  I was told, "this is not a parking lot".  Which of course I understand, but as I learned, its not what you say its how you say it.

Finally after declining the service, an employee attempted (best I can describe it) to drive my car out of the shop, he stalled it twice.  I stood in front of the car until someone else removed it.

Bottom line.  Go somewhere else.  They don't care. Just ask their service manager who told me to take my business else where because I used profanity when the employee couldn't drove my car out.  Really, I was treated terribly so unfortunately I cursed.  Get over it.

I really do not know why anyone would take their car to dealer unless we talking included warranty and free repairs. Always ,always you will be overcharged, the service is not the greatest from experience I can tell you that th should always get a second opinion from a did. Mechanic you,ll be surprised from the original diagnose dealer gives you.

Flexable and reliable for your late hrs and walk in anytime auto repair service - 5 stars.

I have been using the service since i got new Honda hybrid several yrs ago recommened by a friend since it needs dealer's service bc of being Hybrid. I did not get the car in this location --- the pricing was not that great. But, for auto service, the business hrs of this location is unbeatable as they open until midnight Monday thru Friday. Sat until 3 pm. Sunday is closed, tho.

For my hybrid, it is extra $$ diffrent from regular engine cars for oil change but here it is done in 30-40 min and for most of regular engine cars at discounted price while you are waiting. Grab and dinner around or waiting in the room with TVs and internets services. It is located a little far from my place but it is worth traveling for the convenience of just walk in anytime during the week nights. Online appt scheduling is also available on the website which also stands out from other dealers around. Maintenance reminders are sent to you regularly and reliable.

Only throw back is that the service is fast but not so sure it is thorough. I caught a couple of times that I needed some service but they did not advised me. My other mechanic would point it out for next visit or would educate me for certain things or so. that I feel like fell short in service. Actually the location has Honda and Volvo services depts. One time Volvo staff serviced on my car since there was no honda staff available and they were better. So I give overall 4 stars.

If you have loads of cash and don't care if the mechanics don't know anything AND you don't you pay without asking questions...this is the service department for you.  Mechanics at a dealership these days know very little about...well..."mechanics".  They rely on plugging in your car reading the code and then telling you what the problem is.  They misdiagnosed my car, didn't perform adequate wheel alignment service (twice) and charged me about $1,500.  After proving that their diagnosis of my transmission was wrong (when they didn't listen to me the first time) - they at least refunded my money, but they still never got the wheel alignment correct.  Unless your car is under warranty - don't go here.  I would recommend Lorrenzzutti on Douglas St., in Brooklyn.
