Was a great service dept. Paul was a great advisor. However, I just drove by, and the dealership appears out of business. Just an empty lot now.

Would love to know if Paul is still in the business somewhere.

My center console formed a hairline crack several months ago, and the summer heat expanded it, rendering a smiley gape next to my stereo. I took my vehicle down to United and ordered the part, a one-piece deal which would take several days to arrive.

Projects at work kept me busy and since I didn't get a call from the shop, the week went by and the issue slipped my mind. Last Wednesday was exactly 2.5 weeks since I had originally brought in the vehicle, so I called them for a status update. It turns out the part already had been there, but there was a breakdown in feedback between the parts and service departments. Right then.

Cut to this morning. The service advisor (Paul T) and I already had come to terms that this was to be strictly warranty labor, since the vehicle was a 2008 and it was obvious that it was a defective piece. They promised to get the work done in 6 hours, which was understandable considering A) It's a Friday and B)I skipped my appointment 2 days prior because I couldn't leave the car.

They finished in 2 hours and I came back to a clean interior and a new center console. I also was informed of a complimentary oil change awaiting me the next time I visit. Sexy. So long as they don't strand me in the desert like Mazda did ( yelp.com/biz/zzzyzx-road… ), I'll gladly accept.

TIP: Get to know your service advisor, as he is your liason with the techs and the parts department. Paul T. was very personable and legit throughout, we talked shop and BS-ed about poker and stereos while waiting for Dan in parts to come up with pricing.....then Dan directed me to other shops such as Circuit City and Fry's to get better prices on aftermarket add-ons I was looking for such as an iPod charger/dock and amplifier active cooling systems.

Despite the little communications fcukup, I was impressed at the quality of service displayed at this dealership and the personal touch. United proved to be the exception to the rule. What rule is that? That dealerships are your standard supermodel-with-herpes: you can never tell who's infected and they can smell your gearlust.

Therefore, it's in your best interests to ensure that smile is nothing but teeth. And always be on your guard. Amen.
