Reviews on Town Lincoln Subaru

After reading a few of the reviews here regarding Town Subaru, I felt the need to write a comment, specifically in response to the one from Chris B. about sales professional John Lopes.

I bought my 2012 Subaru Legacy from John several years go and found him to be professional, courteous and very knowledgeable regarding Subaru and the car industry as a whole. To this day, anytime I go to Town I make sure I stop by John's desk to speak with him and find out the latest about Subaru and the greater car industry.

As a professional who has worked in marketing communications (PR/Advertising) representing major consumer brands, I understand that customer service and "being the face" for a brand is a difficult task--that's why I only deal with professionals.

John Lopes is and has been a true professional since I purchased my car from him. Because of my experience with John and Town Subaru as a whole, I plan to own at least one Subaru the rest of my life. I will also make sure I purchase my Subaru from John and Town.

I had the worst experience with Town Subaru while recently shopping for a new car. To keep things short the salesman, John Lopes, was arrogant and not willing to do his best to get me into a new Subaru. He just wanted me to lay down and pay his asking price. When I made a counter offer he scoffed and hung up the phone. Later on through email correspondence he sent me messages insulting my intelligence even after I had wrote him stating that I could not accept his offer and thanking him for his time and wishing him success in the future. No class, no respect, no intellect. I will never again reach out to Town Motors nor recommend anyone to do so.

Headaches ? I don't like them. Since my lease purchase of  Lincoln MKZ in December 2013 till today it has been nothing but headaches both with the car and customer experience at two different dealerships. This review will talk about the customer service in Englewood location only.

Let's start!
On all three occasions it has been consistent rudeness with the receptionist who picks up the phone. On all three occasions I have dealt with three different service advisors. On all three occasions I have observed the lack of dynamic between the employees and guests.
Why is this important ?

First, when I asked nicely to page a specific service advisor, the correct manner will be to kindly deny this isn't possible instead of answering back like a teenager would speak to her mother.

Second, relationship matters. If I deal with one advisor at all times my trust in him or her will increase on every visit. He or she will know me, my car, my service history, etc.
It will be less stressful to tell my story and expectations every different time. Moreover, I will be less inclined to say no when the " up selling" line moves in.

Third, if the dealer is participating in offers such as tire "price match guaranteed", then it would be professional to honor the offer, in its entirely! Not a partial.

Lastly, a winning personality, the ability to show genuineness and hospitality to customers are key characteristics for repeat business and happy customers.

My last visit was my last time.

I will NEVER take my car anywhere else. Not only is the work amazing, but Town Lincoln Subaru and the whole crew are thoughtful, polite, accommodating, and hard workers.

Thank you so much!

what a great car buying experience! I was immediately greeted by Rolf and he was so nice!! Of course what i wanted wasnt in stock but i knew that going in. Needless to say within an hour i was given a fair price for my trade in and my car is on its way!! I was recommended by a co worker to come here and after many bad issues with other subaru dealers in the area, i was very very happy!! Can not wait for my car to come in!! Thanks Rolf for being so great

Town Subaru service is awful. I took my car there years ago for regular periodic service. After a couple of years, I stopped going to Town because I found better service elsewhere.

Jump to today and I have been going to Liberty Subaru to get an oil change even though I am geographically closer to Town. I wanted to try to get a quick oil change so since Town was closer, I called them to find out if I could just go there for an oil change or if I needed an appointment for an oil change today.

The main switchboard person sounded annoyed and huffed, "No, you need an appointment. And not today. Let me transfer you there." The next person I spoke with asked for my phone number immediately and, I guess since she did not find me in her database, asked if I have been there before, to which I said not in a long time, over 10 years. She sounded annoyed when I asked when would be the earliest appointment I could make for an oil change. She said that I could come in today in about 45 mins and proceeded to ask for my contact info. I said before we go though that I had a couple of more questions - how long will it take for the oil change and how much? She had one of those sighs and then said hold on.  Next thing I know she hung up on me.

This was when I remembered why I stopped coming here years ago.

** as soon as this review was posted, I received the following auto-respond email from Town**
Hi W, Ted S. sent you a message on Yelp:
Subject: Your Review
"Hi W T.
I am sorry to hear about your experience at Town Motors Lincoln Subaru and I would like to speak with you about it. I'd like to know who you spoke with and when. Please give my office a call at 201-816-6057 or email at your earliest convenience so that we may remedy this situation.

Kaitlin Ryan"

I didn't bother calling for a few reasons.  This was obviously an auto generated response by Town.  No one could read my post there that quickly. What happened to me today really did remind me of their past service deficiencies and rude actions. The person who hung up on me could have reached back out to me if it was an error since I gave her my phone number and I am sure she had caller ID. Do I really have faith in Town to fix their issues after talking to me? After trying them again after all these years, it felt like going back in time. I provided the Town email response so that others who might want to contact them with issues have the number.  Good luck.

I hated Town Motors! I was looking for a new car, I was driving on the freeway and saw a Lincoln MKZ in front of me. So when I got home I looked it up and Town Motors came up, so I thought I would call the place and I did. He said I will have your car up in 30 minutes I just have to get it out of the parking lot. So it took me about 45 minutes to get there. And the car still wasn't ready! BTW The guy's name was Larry. He got back and said I had to drive to the lot. I thought why, you said that you would bring it here so I drove to the lot we test drove the car and we liked it. It took us 2 hours to get the price down 1,000 dollars! We got the car from 3 business days. They haven't even washed the car. So we had the car 3 months and there was something wrong with the seat so we had to bring it back 4 times and out of the times they had the car for a whole month! I think it is really unacceptable and I would never go back there! I don't recommend this place at all. My wife got her car at Park Ave. Acura we got the car there after 2 hours and the washed and polished it I recommend that you go there instead!

Finally was able to schedule an appointment. My 2 free oil changes were a complete lie. My salesman told me that they never offer such deals and he has never seen them offered in his time at the dealership. He spoke to the guy who offered me the free oil changes and of course he has no recollection of this whatsoever.  I was asked to show a voucher foe the oil changes but was never given one. Turns out they don't do that anyway. This business is a total joke. Lying to customers to "sweeten the deal" and not living up to your promises is unacceptable. A complete and absolute joke

On my second lease from them. Great experiences both times. Although I had different sales and finance staff, they were just as good as the first set of not better. Great family run dealership.

G J. | 2015-01-03

One of the worst dealership experiences ever. Wanted to see a used vehicle but was sent to search for a car lot somewhere else with out any sales representative. Came back to the main show room and waited some more and had to flag down a salesman. Thank god the the car in question was sold because I think the rest of the process would've been a nightmare.

"The worst dealership EVER. Came in and wanted to buy. But with client services, or lack of them, they made it completely impossible. One salesman, fifteen people and the only one on the phone all the time. Ignoring everyone. Don't go there!!!"

Salesperson John was great. Their entire customer service team was very professional in handling the previous issue we faced.

Vusal N. | 2014-07-23

Called to see if I could see a car, the guy - Willie answered, was quite rude, said it's too late to see a car or sell a car after 7pm, come back some other time.  I guess he doesn't get commission on sales - not great for a business owner of this dealership though.

We bought our Subaru in February. Due to the fact that the car was a demo it had about 3000 miles and it as well as some scratches. Before i bought the vehicle we were told by one of the managers that they would be repaired. We were treated so nicely before we bought the car and during the transaction but once we took it home that all changed. I attempted to schedule an appointment multiple times all throughout Feb till May 28th but did not have any luck. There would always be an excuse. I was even told to bring in my car one day so i missed my classes but when i got there they sent me home since it was raining. After about 2 months of this nonsense I decided that the only course of action left was to write a letter to the corporate offices. The people there are much more helpful. They took the matter into their own hands and finally got me an appointment and a loaner! When i went to pick up my car i noticed a ball coming out of the tire (i do recall hitting a pothole a day or two before) . However this was another issue. I bought the insurance for the tire and wheels however the service advisor told me that there was no proof of this and that i would have to pay upfront. Luckily i save all my papers and showed them. After the was on the car i was told that my rim had "bent" or that there was a bulge in it, something like that. and that when driving at highway speeds i might experience vibration in the steering wheel. He said that they were trying to "balance" it out. The service advisor immediately tried to sell me other services such as rim reconditioning and a tire rotation but i didn't go for it. I put 300 miles on my car since then and traveled above highway speeds and did not experience any "vibrations". While digging through my papers i also found that the odometer disclosure statement said that we bought the car with 20 miles when it was really 3000 (going to have to look into this to see what can be done). While waiting around for my tire i overheard one of the service advisors on the phone with another customer and i saw that i wasn't the only one getting treated so poorly. This is by far the worst service i have ever experienced, i will be changing dealers if i ever need to go to one again. If i would've known i was going to go through all of this for a simple fix that the manager himself offered to us I would've just went and bought a CLA down the street at Benzel Busch because their service is impeccable. Town Subaru needs to take notes.

This review is for sales only. I bought my 2014 plat cayenne from Doug and I have to say it was one of the pleasant car purchase I ever had. I always get defensive when buying a car at the dealer but rest assured, they were the most straight forward guys I've ever met. Look for Doug. He knows what his doing. I went to 2 other dealers in my area and only townmotor gave me a good discount. Anyway my car had a alarm system issue as soon as I picked up new(which affected many 2014 cayenne), they have to replace the whole new module, which are backed up since too many are affected....its been almost two months turning off sensors every time I lock the car, I am not sure why i have to go through this with such a premium vehicle....besides that my next porsche will be purchased from these guys again for sure!

My wife and I were looking for a new car and went to Town motor Subaru; close to my house. We were interested in buying 2014 Crosstrek. After test drive the vehicle, we decided buy it but they didn't have a stock with options we wanted. Sales person seemed nice so we didn't bother to negotiate the price. We made $500 deposit and told wait two or three months due to special order.
After a month passed, we called/texted sales person to follow up, but no reply. We waited another month, called/texted few times, he answered no updated information. Um... that's odd no updated information after two months?
Last week, called/texted few times, no reply... even left message to COO, and general sales manager that have sales person follow up with us... sales person didn't reply. Really!!!
Last Monday, 3 days before three months, we visited dealer to find out what's going on since no one contacted us.
Well...We found out that the car wasn't even ordered.
Sales manager said my wife's credit was low category, which was their 4, so they had to increase the APR. Then, if we accepted the new APR, they will try to locate the vehicle we wanted.
Wow... we wasted three months for a new car arrival. We cancelled our order and request deposit back. But they could not dispute right away. Sales manager said 2-3 business days. They charged deposit right at the spot but could not refund? Umm... Now I am waiting how long it would take the money back from them. Let's see.
We came home and checked my wife's credit. She had great credit scores which their category 1. I felt they were tried to scam us.
I read few reviews about the dealership but I gave them a chance. I will never go there again nor recommend no one. I mean no one!
I hope my review gives readers aware what they will face with when they buy or lease a car from them.

Update 4/23.
Thank you for contacting me.
Just return my deposit back. It's been 3 business days since Monday.

Came here to change my oil. I appreciate that they serviced my car even though I did not have a Subaru (I have a Nissan).

They were really nice about it and the price for synthetic was very reasonable.

They also have like 3 waiting rooms which is appreciated-one for TV (has coffee, hot chocolate, water and cookies). Another is a silent room where people can just go and read. I appreciate the options and snacks!

This place has a rewards problem for service rewards and oil changes. It's something like pay for 5 and get one free. They also have 5% money back on services or something that goes towards your next purchase.

Unbelievable that they don't care about their reputation. We bought a car out of state and asked for photos of all blemishes. The salesman, Michael Condosta, told us there were none and that the car was in showroom condition. It showed up with avariety of nicks and dings and we asked them to make good on only one - a door ding that will cost $1200 to repair. He knew it was there because he signed the notation the tranposrt company made. He has offered $100 to settle. Right, and that's after changing the sales price from the original contract on subsequent paperwork to cover the $150 window etching he forgot to tell us was mandatory.
