Reviews on Lexus of Edison

Saw a car on line today & e mailed dealer. Got a call & e mail back right away. Drove right to dealership. Got a salesman with no knowledge, personally or salesmanship. And also NO KEYS YES NO KEYS to the car I wanted to test drive.... Waited over 35 minutes & keys could not be found...walked out....said call me when you find the keys....guess they never found them.....
Horrible horrible service..... They should take lessons from BMW next door because they were FABULOUS!!!

I saw a great deal online but I thought it was too good to be true! Nick and Sonny made sure that they would get me that specific deal and I got it in a matter of a day! A big thanks to Nick and Sonny for my new lexus CT! They were a big help, got me approved with horrible credit and I have an amazing payment!  I'm super happy and LOVE this dealership

Worst customer service and followup i have seen at any lexus dealership.  I sold my car here almost 4 weeks ago and they have no idea where my reimbursement check is.  Follow other yelpers and go to bridgewater for quality service.

vehicle had oil leaks less than a month took it in for warranty repair and was told that it was not covered.  Asked what was covered and they told me engine and transmission where the Fuk do you think motor oil comes from? brakes?  Dont buy from them! i have purchased several vehicles in the past all new this is the first used car, I am now stuck with a oil leaking vehicle.

I have had my car for 1 week now. I went to BMW, Mercedes, Infinity, Volkswagen, and Acura before I decided on the Lexus. Safe to say, I had a lot of interactions with a lot of different dealers/dealerships.

At the end of the day, you are buying a car. It is always going to feel a little sleazy. What I can say about this place was I got to test drive a car very quickly, and they had a huge in-door inventory of new cars to look at. A lot of other dealerships were all about looking at the floor model and them pulling the car around to drive. This place, I sat in multiple versions of the car before I drove one. That, I liked.

When I wanted numbers quickly before work to compare to other cars, I got them quickly and rather effortlessly. Like everyone else, I got the high pressure "what can we do to get you in this car today" line a few times, but that's just part of this industry I've learned. I did a fair amount of negotiating, but the price never came down so much I would call them dishonest (unlike Volkswagen). If you need help figuring out a decent lease price, use a lease calculator. There are a bunch on the web and can be a very good guide to see if you are getting a good deal or not.

Really, my only complaint so far has been when I picked up the car. I waited over half an hour for someone to show me what all the buttons did, even though they knew what time I was coming in to pick up the car. For a "luxury" automobile company, I expected to be treated a little better than just waiting in the "lounge" watching Montel Williams infomercials. Hopefully that was a fluke and my weekly carwash goes off without a hitch. Here's hoping.

The worst customer service experience I have had in buying a car.
I email a week ago for information on a car that I want to pay cash for. no response.
Then, while I'm vacationing in Miami, I get almost a dozen emails from
Allison Bosso...only they contain NO INFORMATION... Just Hi and a bunch of crapolla about her dealership...that I don't give a %^*k about.
Finally I send an email asking is the email with no information I am receiving a group email and I attach the vin of the car I want to pay cash for.
Next email from Allison...'It's Sold,' nothing else...
Thanks Allison&the team for saving me from future bad experiences with your company.

Wish there was a zero star option and I had read previous reviews.

I called an 800# to confirm if a used car was available for sale. The receptionist said the car is in the lot and will be available to test drive when I get there.
Here is why this dealership has terrible service:
1. The salesperson didn't know who I was, why I was there, and which car I was interested in despite giving them a 2-3 hour head start
2. I waited 1hour for them to take the car out, jump start the battery and allow test drive
3. No concession on price at all suggesting that they would rather sell to an auction - which did piss me off to use that tactic but I needed the car so didn't hassle
4. 2-days later I had an appt at 1pm to see the Finance person. When I get there the sales person casually says "Come 1.5 hours later cause the finance guy is backed up". Sales guy never called to tell me they were running behind while making it a no big deal that I have nothing better to do for next few hours and can easily wait.

When I made a big stink about wasting my time and found out they were busy servicing people with better finance $$$ than me, the Salesperson gave me a whopping $25 gift card, a real value for my time!!

The employees at this dealership have attitudes.  They think they are above all and can treat customers with disrespect and no value for the customers' time by being disorganized and not communicating at all. I will never buy a car from this place and will NOT recommend this dealership at all.

I'm very disappointed in this dealership owned by the great Roger Penske, who I've met a few times at Indycar races.  We found what looked to be a very nice used Audi, one owner, 50K mileage, decently priced car and made an appointment to view it.  We arrived early, and located the car in the lot and looked at it before going inside.  Although they had a million photos of the car on their website, none showed the drivers side seat to be severely cracked and damaged, nor did they show the offside wheels to be curbed to the point of looking unsafe.  On top of that the clearcoat on the paint was shabby.

Still, I figured I now had more negotiating room-I could always put sheepskins on the seats and the paint would perhaps look a bit better after a detail.  We met our sales professional, I told him of meeting Penske, and after going over the paperwork and him going 'in the back for the keys and to make a copy of my license' we began to walk out to the car for another looksee and a drive.

Lo and behold, before we're out the door the 'sales manager' comes out for an aside with our sales professional-and we're told a 'friend of Roger Penske's son' just put a deposit on the car!  What a coinky-dinkee that after having talked about meeting Roger a friend of the billionaire's son has made a phone deposit on an $8,500 car!

The sales professional gave me his best 'In all my years selling cars this is the first time it happened' line.  I think they knew I had seen the faults of the car already and wasn't going to make a full price offer and figured they'd get more cash with another buyer.

I'd steer clear.  It was a waste of time and money to visit Lexus of Edison.

If you want a painless car buying experience go to Lexus of Edison!! I leased a GX 460 last week, with a really rare pre-collision package that I could not find in 4 other dealerships. Honestly the experience could have not been better. They had the car I wanted in the color that I was looking for and they had the cheapest price. I went to 4 other places and LOW gave me $34 cheaper then anyone else and paid me fair book value for my car. I have to thank the Sales manager Anna Samajo and the Salesmen Yan Rozman, who made it possible for me to own a Lexus. Excellent customer service, Excellent Facility & Excellent Staff!!

VERY disappointed with this company, it had been my worst car shopping experience by far. I made sure I called ahead of time and got a quote on the Lexus IS 250 I was looking for on the same day. The internet sales lady said she spoke to her manager and gave me a figure slightly less than the MSRP on the window sticker, which I deemed fair and worthy of my drive all the way down there in person. I walked in with my check book, ready to purchase in full after a little bit more of haggling here and there, if possible. What a wishful thinking.

The lack of quality customer service was apparent starting at the very first moment of us stepping into the dealership. We waited for at least 45 minutes for some service and the place did not look slammed. There were internal workers in business attire just sitting down amongst themselves and chit chatting. When we finally got seated, the salesman gets a cell phone call. Then he proceeds to pick up and starts talking to the other party very loudly without excusing himself while we just sat. After 5 minutes, he hangs up and gets back with us without an apology. He did not introduce himself or show us any interest in earning our business from the very beginning.

At the end his rock bottom cost did not even beat what I got quoted for over the phone. After I explained I spoke to so and so and got this exact number and it's the reason why I came in today, he walked away to check. Momentarily he tells us that the price is unacceptable and there is no record of anyone offering me that cost. The quote I got over the phone was not even that amazing, but at least it fell within the range of fair purchase price on kbb. The snotty salesman tells us no customer brings in quotes from kbb as reference because Lexus doesn't go by that. I just cannot believe on top of the wait, and his attitude with us, they would not honor what was promised. And the quote over the phone was only to lure us in. There was not a single ounce of professionalism from the little service I received today. They treated their valuable customers like idiots; why should I ever go back???????

I never written a review. But the service was so bad it has to be shared. We have purchased several other Lexus's at other dealerships and were completely pleased with the service, staff, and cars.

So I was intending on buying an rx during Labor Day weekend. Waited a hour for someone to let me test drive the car. After which, a rude sales person who didn't introduce himself came to me and simply asked whatcha doin' here. I told him we are interested in purchasing a SUV. We test drove several other vehicles including a BMW X3 and Audi q5. We would love to test drive an rx350 to see what it's like.

He responded with a snarky, "You guys are killing me...and then what..."He said he would have to speak with his "manager." 15 minutes later, returned and said we have to schedule an appointment sometime during the week. My brother, who was with me, responded we have waited an hour already, this is the only time we're free. We live an hour away. What do you expect us to do. If you are to busy we can wait for another salesperson. Then he starts to scold him like he was a child, saying "...this is the last day of the month, there are so many other customers. If you aren't buying we can't waste our time. We have to prioritize. I'm trying to get through the wait list for the receptionist. "He then said a technology technician would take us on a test drive. Again, we waited, but no one showed. We told the only pleasant person we interacted with, the receptionist of what happened. She then told the previous salesperson and he begrudgingly agreed to take us in 5 minutes. Another 15-20 minutes passes. I go outside and he was showing the car we intended to buy to another customer who came much later than us. We told the receptionist, we wanted to speak with the manager about this salesperson. The manager was apparently too busy as well since  she didn't come out. Ultimately, we left the facility 2 hours later, with no test drive, in complete rage.

This sales person was completely rude. The manager was inept. If I did purchase a car from this facility I would demand the receptionist receives the commission.
I will never come to this dealership again. This was THE ABSOLUTE WORST customer service I have ever seen. I would give no stars if possible.

Had my car serviced there and dealt with Ryan Patti. He was very attentive to my concerns and needs. Thanks again for the great service. Will absolutely recommend this location and will be back again!

James M. | 2014-08-18

Need to give a big shout out to service at this location - specifically to Ryan Patti who treated us like gold and made us extraordinarily glad that we chose this location to buy our RX350. White glove, red carpet are overused terms that dealerships throw around without being able to back it up.  Ryan and team back it up!  A++ Thanks, Ryan!

I will make the story real short and to the point the customer service here is one of the worst customer experience's I ever had in my life! Managers are not on the same page they are a bunch of sharks! No wonder this dealership is rated 2 stars I will be filing a corporate complaint  to the main office Penske group as well as putting a bad review on google, cars.com , dealerrater.com as well as social media as I work for one of the largest banks in the nation.Maybe they will finally get the message. I waited for a call never got one.

What happened to this place? Is it under a new ownership, if it is that will explain my horrible experience I had few months ago. I went in for a tire change and had confirmed day before if there will a loaner available and was confirmed by them. When I got there no loaner was available. Waited about an hour for loaner..might as well waited to just get my tire change.  So went back to pick up my car and they forgot that I was waiting and waited about an hour to get my car. My rep was completely clueless and didn't really care about her customers. Only reason I go to a dealer is for service and service at this place was not even worth a penny. After I got my car and was getting gas right next door and notice there was a huge crack on my windshield. Went back to show them and of course no manager was there to talk to. How do you run such a big business and not have a manager at all time. So I was told to come back or they will havze a manager call me when he returns. Never got a call and kept calling them and never returned my calls. So I end up calling corporate and they said they can only help to engage a conversation. Corporate called me few days later and told noone is returning their calls. Finally they got a hold of them and the manager started making up stories that was not relevant to what happened to my car. End of story they did not fixing the windshield. They never called me back directly. I have been going to this place for 7 years. I go out of my way to go to this dealership about an hour away. Respect for their customers is gone at this place. Reps really need some professional training.

JC M. | 2014-06-27

First of all know that when you call ahead you are speaking with a internet broker that doesn't actually schedule any appts. Called ahead to tell them what car I wanted to try out and buy, waited 1.5hrs to finally get in the car. This is why Internet sales are the way forward.

Been looking for a nice fully loaded Lexus Ct200h, I found this dealership on cars.com . It took me an hour to get here from where I lived. Before coming here, I called the dealership to make sure the car was in stock. When I arrived here, there were no salesman to be seen.. This was on a Wednesday.. Not a Friday or Saturday.. The receptionist told us that she will try to find a salesman to help us. She told us to have a seat in their lounge while we waited.

Well, during the 3 hour wait; I noticed she didn't do anything.. She was an older woman that just sat on her butt and looked around. I called the dealership just to see if she licked up the phone and it turned out to be someone upstairs in their "call center".

Mind you that I am seriously hoping to make a purchase that day. After 3 hours another reception came over. She was a younger woman, and told me that I was next. About15 - 20 minutes later a salesman finally came over. His name was Robert, after shaking my hand, he excused himself immediately to go get a can of ice tea... Wonderful..  When Robert came back, he lead us over to his desk where we talked about the car and he gave the same bs that the other 4 dealerships I've been to gave me.  He blew so much smoke up his dealerships ass. Oh yes, I know it's Lexus.. But honestly I don't care. After his bs, he did some quick research to show why they had the best price around " that area" not mine. I showed him that his dealership actually over priced the car and that there were another dealerships with equilient cars for less. Long story short, he couldn't give me a reason why I should buy this car from this dealership. Worse, his manager came over to bs me some more and the funny thing was they refused to go down in price.. Not even by a grand.. If he would've, I would have been more incline to make a deal. But obviously he wasn't hungry enough to close the sale. They would rather have the car sitting in their lot than to go a tiny bit lower in order to make the sale.

This by far has been the worse experience at any dealership. I been to so many in the past few months where I have been talked down, lied too, but this one takes the cake.. After having to drive an hour and wait 3 more to by helped, you would think they would be more incline to help you.
If you are looking for a Lexus, try the one in bridge water.. There's a sale person name Dawn that would be more helpful and that's truely hungry for the sale.

Walked in on a Monday afternoon to inquire about the RX, no sales people on the floor, left my information with the receptionist (who ignored me,until I went up to her).
No one ever called. If this is the sales experience, shiver me timbers, when it comes to service.I'm done!

Anwar S. | 2014-06-06

We had stopped over to have a look at a  Pre Owned  Lexus ES350. We were received by their Sales Consultant Mr Zahid Syed. He was very welcoming  extremely professional in his approach. He showed two cars. Zahid explained the entire features of the car. We are now getting ready to arrange our finance for the purchase.. Excited about it!

Nadia B. | 2014-05-06

** Update.... Manager from Lexus inquired more about the situation after this yelp review so that was a plus point** Hopefully they will take calls and sales more seriously.
______________________

These reviews are ALL correct (apart from the ones that had 5 stars). I was a serious buyer for a new 2015 RX... I called on Saturday, talking to a "salesperson" took down information that took 10 minutes. Never got a call back. Called again on Monday.. same person (allison?) and told her their service is beginning to irk me and that I called twice that day and that Saturday and no one is getting back to me.

She apologies for a hot second, assures me she will take care of me, I give her my information, what I'm looking for. I ask specifically, will you get back to me today?
She says yes, of course.

Nothing.

Well, thankfully, I was talking to people in other places and made a grand slam deal at Edison of Englewood. Do me a favor, go visit Dick over there, the customer service over here is just TERRRRRRRRRRRRRRIBLE.

And, also, don't be so quick to write-off people shopping for quotes over the phone because they work 80 hours a week who assure you they are serious buyers-- you lost a good customer and the deal I made was 90% made over the phone and I will be picking up my car later today.

Sorry (not sorry).

Jay K. | 2014-04-30

Did not have a good experience in buying the car from Lexus of Edison. Ultimately, I did buy the Lexus within a couple of weeks but not from this dealership. I felt the initial reception was good, sales folks were knowledgeble. but did not keep up their part of the commitment. I do understand this can happen sometimes, but my perception, expectation from Lexus was better. They lost credibility - as far as I was concerned.  How can you commit a price and change it after a week with excuses that are simply unprofessional!!

As a legitimate buyer with excellent credit rating, the dealership sales team did not do a good job.

Uneka H. | 2014-04-24

EXCELLANT DEALERSHIP!! I was looking to purchase a car after having a bad experience with a previous dealer..soon as I walked thru the door EVERYBODY just about spoke...I didn't feel pressured to buy a vehicle and our salesperson Justin Toth was super sweet..professional and courteous....I walked off the lot that day with a car and I can honestly say that I am very happy that I did

Tinnah C. | 2013-09-28

This place is horrible, i first went in to buy a used is250 that i had saw online. after a couple of days and test driving it- and ready to buy- they told me the car was sold! so i found my 2012 is250 somewhere else and had brought it to Lexus of Edison to check for an oil leakage since i still have the warranty. we were there for almost 4 to 5 hours, they said it was an oil change done wrong by the previous people who sold us the car. I didnt want to do my oil change there because i only trust my husband with these things. so i ended up doing it with them  when they said it was only $30 plus taxes. but after 2 hours (did not know oil change takes that long) they came back and said - oh your car needed the synthetic oil, so its now $90. We couldn't argue with them because they had already DONE the job! i will never go back to them, i rather drive a bit further to fix my problems then to get this kind of service here.

Melissa S. | 2013-07-24

Lexus of edision is AWFUL! I brought my 2011 fully paid for car in for an oil change. They said 1 1/2hrs tops. 4 hours later I left with no reason explanation of why it took almost 4hrs. I asked to speak with the manger. He said sorry. I paid over $260. They offered no discount, no help, nothing. They got my money and don't care! I WILL NEVER BUY OR GET MY CAR SERCIVED AT LEXUS IN EDISION!

Sean W. | 2013-07-08

*update*

After I posted this someone from the dealer emailed, called and messaged me on yelp about my experience being a misunderstanding and that "something could be worked out". Not sure what they meant by that because I never went back.

Na P. | 2013-05-22

I had a good experience with Lexus of Edison, I was very happy with my purchase. I get complimentary car wash once a week and people in the service department are so friendly and helpful. They answered questions, and when my key batteries were low, they offered to replace new ones for me. Great service!

Peter E. | 2013-02-10

The service I had at Lexis of Edison was horrible.  As most people who reviewed this place agree and gave great examples, I will not bore you with too many of the details of my experience.

Glen the car salesman kept insisting I stay even though he would not meet me at the price I wanted on a car.  He eventually tried to convince me to take a 72 month loan and insisted that the price was a good deal (when it blatantly wasn't).  He even brought the dealership manager over (who was a "macho type" middle aged man)  to try and convince me.  Eventually, I just walked out while he continued to talk.

I give the place two stars because I understand it's Glen's job to be a salesman.  But he could have used a different approach or just left me alone when he realized I was not going to buy the car.

Jackee A. | 2012-09-17

I brought my BMW trade in to Mike Smeraglia who is the General Sales Manager at Lexus of Edison. Mike's enthusiasm and attention to customer satisfaction made
the entire experience an absolute pleasure. In addition I found the sales staff to be attentive but never pushy.

The dealership met and exceeded all of my needs and I will be very happy to return there in the future.

Rachel B. | 2012-08-05

Had a terrible experience here yesterday.  This dealership personifies everything that is wrong with a car buying experience.  I went in, was greeted properly and had high hopes. Then, I asked a question of a salesman. He couldn't tell me the trunk size AND suggested I look it up on the Internet! I was actively ignored, even when searching out help!  I wasn't asked if I wanted to test drive the vehicle I was interested in-and by that point I felt INVISIBLE!  Iwas left with the overall impression that my gender impacted my treatment (or lack thereof). There were no fewer than 5 salesmen there and only one other shopper in the dealership.  Have to wonder if I had been a guy would I have gotten some proper service.  I left with a bad taste for Edison Lexus.

Andy C. | 2012-04-27

Great place to buy a car!

My sales rep was a nice guy and the sales manager was personable.  They made it a great buying experience.  The service people are also friendly.

A little less then a week after I bought my car I brought my car into service for some touch ups, they washed and vacuumed my car without me having to ask them.  They really make it feel like you are taken care of even after you buy the car.  While in the waiting area, they offer food, beverages, and wifi.

If I had to buy another car I would definitely come back to this dealership.

Susan S. | 2011-09-14

After calling numerous times to make an appointment and not able to reach a person, I decided to make an appointment by internet. I rush in the morning and arrive to my appointment 5 minutes early. I walk up to the first service person available and they tell me to take a seat. I stay seated in the lounge for 40 minutes before someone calls me. I request that my service is expedited because I have to leave in 45 minutes. The customer service person tells me I should have came in with an appointment! Are you kidding me! I waiting 40 minutes to be treated this way, and she has the nerve to ask me if I want to call and make another appointment.
Lexus for future reference, the reason why this location is losing business is because the employees do not know how to answer a phone or use a computer. That is where the customer service begins, not by haggling someone who comes on time for an appointment, waits 40 minutes before being approached, and being told that they never had an appointment to begin with. I had email proof with me at my appointment and the agent just brushed it off. WORST SERVICE EVER! NEVER GOING BACK! And you have the nerve to ask me for a perfect score on the customer survey!

David B. | 2011-06-28

Wow!!! A dealership that actually cares about you before, during, and after the sale...What a great deal, facility, salesperson, and the food and coffee/tea is great!!!!

Robert S. | 2011-04-07

I got an online estimate of my trade-in and spoke to Internet salesperson and asked if this appraisal is reasonable. He assured me that it was. To make a long story short, it was a big com-on. My trade is in immaculate condition, 4 years old an 16,500 miles. The appraisal came back $6000 below the estimate. The salesman apologized but the old "talk to my manager" routine made a bad experience worse! The explanation was that there is wear on the tires and a new set of tires would cost them $1,000 and a small, imperceptible scratch on the underside of the bumper would cost them $400 to paint. As outrageous as these are, I asked why they took $6000 off for $1400 in normal tire wear and a practically invisible blemish. I was then told that the online quote was just an estimate. You get the picture! My advice : Go somewhere else.

Mostly confused. Made a Saturday appointment with a representative. Met a few days earlier. He told me they had the exact pre-owned I was looking for. Set up a 5pm appointment and told him I had a dinner meeting at 6:15pm. If it was what I wanted I was ready to go.
I show up. The rep Chris no where to be found. Waited 15 minutes before someone said he was busy with another client. Gave me to another rep James. Seemed confused. Searched for car and said had been sold days ago.
Both of these guys wasted my time.
Went to Ray Catena Lexus down in Oakhurst which was a haul mind you and bought a car in great shape for less money. These are not cheap cars we are talking about. I hate when people waste my time. Save time and money and go elsewhere.
