I have a company car and am able to choose from many vehicles and brands.  I posted about my experience with my 2011 Explorer from a different dealer here:   explorerforum.com/forums… and after some poor service I decided to get a Toyota, not because I wanted a Toyota, but the only avenue I had to penalize Ford for poor service with the power steering issue pre-recall.  So after 2 years, I'm up for a new car and thought I would go back to the Explorer.  My pick up location was Baxter Ford in Omaha.

The fleet contact thought my car was Grey, not Darkside/Green and the vehicle was out in the lot "someplace" and we used the remote to track it down (first time with any fleet pick up that the vehicle wasn't brought up and ready.  Rather than a detail of the vehicle features it was just "any questions?"  Thinking that since  I had had the '11 that there probably wasn't much difference I didn't have any.  Turned the vehicle on and saw something about the speed limit being limited to 80 but it flashed quick and didn't notice and thought maybe this was our fleet being big-brother.  

When I got home, I noticed the license sticker was dated October which I thought was odd considering I was picking it up in early December.  I know holidays can delay deliveries, but it also had over 20 miles on the odometer, and was unusually dirty around the windshield wiper tray, which makes me think it was sitting on the lot for a while before they got to it.

Packing for a trip and putting my supplies in, I find there is a big dollap of white grease in the middle of the back seat.  I was not happy, but since its a company car figured it was going to get dirty eventually, but kind of bummed about day 1.  Took some cleaner to it and the stain is not overly noticeable.  

I had an overnight trip planned, so was packed up, ready to go, iPhone hooked up and turn the radio on and then?  Radio limited in how loud it would go (not loud enough to be listenable over highway noise), and this is when I see "MY KEY" setting.  Try to decipher the "MY KEY" in the manual, (how would I know which is the Master Key or what was set up?) , then call dealer service.  They say I need to bring it in to fix, can't be done by me, and that the next appointment is a week from Thursday.  JUST GOT IT AND I HAVE TO WAIT 8 DAYS TO USE THE RADIO??!

So I ask for the fleet manager.  Fleet manager actually knows how to clear the keys and says that it must have been one of his detail "jackasses." Unprofessional.

Does the dealer think we don't buy personal vehicles too?  I like the Explorer, drives nice, etc. but there would really have to be some wild reason for me to get one, or a Ford again.

Bought my car December 2010 brand new. It's a ford edge sport. Have had my tires remounted 5 times and my $800 wheels are all dinged up so they are worthless now. Then had to replace my windshield because of a crack, today I'm having it reset for the second time because it's making noise. Bought a booklet full of oil changes, they never said it would expire and now I can't use them. So many many issues. I wouldn't buy a car there ever again. When you drop over $40K for a car, you expect to have you and your car taken care of. I have had multiple times that they have kept my car for a week or more. Craziness.

I hate buying cars. I hate it even more after my experience with Baxter last Tuesday. I was looking for a specific car and they didn't have one on their lot. Thankfully, there was one in Olathe (near Kansas City) that I was willing to buy. I had gone back and forth with one salesman at Baxter a few times and decided to make an appointment to buy the car. The whole time, it seemed like there was a huge delay in the process. My wife and I had one vehicle at the time and I had to pick her up from work late that evening. I never would have guess that I would be there for over 5 hours. Yes, 5 hours going back and forth over the price, the undercoating, and the extended warranty. They told me it should be there by Saturday  so I didn't call right away. On Friday (3 days later) I wanted to see if my car would be there. They told me the car had already been sold to someone else, but they had another car (that just arrived in Olathe) with all the same features and options, plus one option I was looking for but couldn't get with the original car. I felt like they were stalling and being dishonest so I called the sales manager and asked if I could back out of the deal even though I had already signed all the paperwork. (I should have probably waited to sign all the paperwork when the car arrived but I didn't know I could do that.) He said it was a null contract since the VIN number on all the paperwork was for a car that was already sold to someone else. I told him I changed my mind and when he asked if I was going somewhere else I just said I was rethinking the whole thing. Okay, how do you keep someone at your dealership for over 5 hours to buy a car that basically doesn't exist?

UPDATE (8/27/14): Apparently they never cancelled my loan so now I have two car loans and only one car (that I bought at a different dealer). Since I bought the same type of car from a different dealer, I didn't realize that the statements I was getting from Ford Credit were actually for the wrong car. It wasn't until Ford Credit called me to tell me that my payment was 2 weeks past due that we found out what went wrong. Never, ever buy or service a car at this place. What a bunch of crooks and liars.

I am only rating the service department in this review, I have NOT dealt with the sales staff.  Although the staff is friendly...they are extremely slow...I came for an oil change and to have them look at an issue that I was having with my AC/Heating system.  I came in at 9:00 and dropped my vehicle off.  At 11:30 I went to check the status of my repair, they advised that they hadn't even looked at the car...well it's now 12:30 and they are finishing up hopefully...after I told them just to do the oil change...long story short, don't bring your car in on a Saturday if you have other things to do.

I am in the market for a cash purchase "beater" vehicle so I can hibernate my 2012 german luxo-cruiser for the winter.   After having such horrible luck at Infiniti of Omaha, see review, I decided to check the offerings at Baxter Ford.  

When i entered the dealership there were several salesman standing around like pirahnas in a tank but I didn't receive a single "hello" from anyone.  There was no one at the front desk so I stood there and watched all the pirahnas watch me.  Finally  a lady came from the back, extended a greeting, and offered assistance.  I asked for a used car salesman and she picked up the phone and summoned one who arrived fairly quickly.   I advised the salesman of what I was looking for and his first recommendation was a 1998 Toyota 4Runner with 108,000 for $11k!  Uhhm $11k is about $6k above what the vehicle is worth in Excellent condition.  This vehicle was far from excellent.  When I called him on it, he told me a story about how a "Good deal" depends on whether the customer feels he/she received a good deal.  Translation = If you walk into a dealership and pay MSRP or above for a vehicle and feel you received a good deal, well damnit you received a good deal.  Not!!!!  I told him that is the most idiotic thing I've ever heard and if that's the sentiment of Baxter Ford, it speaks volumes about their integrity and honesty.  Moving along pass the 4Runner

From my smartphone I jumped on cars.com and found a Jeep Grand Cherokee which I requested to see.  The guy fetched the vehicle for a test drive and as he approached with the key, he advised that the check engine light is on.  Why would I want to test drive a vehicle that clearly may not make it around the block and back?  He actually asked if we could make a deal on the overpriced 4Runner or the Jeep which I declined!  Needless to say I will not return!  Nope not even for a beater!  And by the way, this place is owned by Infiniti of Omaha which now makes complete sense.  Read my review for Infinit of Omaha!

I have been to this service department before, and wasn't happy (took 6 hours for an oil change!!!! And then charged me an arm and a leg for it, even though I had a coupon!)  I thought I'd give them another chance, but I'm sorry I did. I called in because I already had a check engine light code from a different auto service company that couldn't fix it and told me to take it to the dealer. I was just trying to find out if they had the part in stock. I called, was transferred to the service department, who transferred me to the parts department, who wanted to transfer me back to service. Each time I had to explain what was going on, and each time they could have cared less. They didn't want to be bothered with me, and the last guy actually hung up on me after saying he was going to transfer me. Throw into that the service guy told me he couldn't get me in for a week (probably because it takes them 6 hours to do an oil change). I called one of their competitors (which it is much farther of a drive for me), and they got me in the same day, and was pleasant and took care of me as a customer. Will never go back to Baxter! I like being treated like they actually want my service, and I don't get that at Baxter.

horrible. location, service, cost. all horrible. ordered a part for my door handle inside, 3 times reorderd cause wrong color. finally i had them put it in since i didn't want to go back out again.

Not happy with service department at all! They tried to rip me off and tell me my mustang needed new condesner and recharged. They wanted over 1300 bucks to fix the car. I took the car to my mechanic and $400 later it is fixed.. SCAMMERS!
