History

Established in 2005.

Folger Kia South Charlotte has been proudly serving the Carolinas since 2005. Folger Kia East Charlotte is part of the Folger Automotive Group, which has been family owned and locally operated in Charlotte, NC since 1937 when it was founded by Mr. Lee Folger. The total amount paid in capital that he paid was $30,000. In 2005, Folger Automotive moved our second Kia franchise in Charlotte, North Carolina from Tyvola Rd to its current location at 7725 South Blvd.  We look forward to serving our customers and meeting all of their needs for many years to come!

If I could give this dealership 0 stars, I would. I bought my Kia 2 months ago and due to errors on their part in registering my vehicle with the DMV, I have still yet to receive my license plate. I have been driving around with expired temporary tags for nearly a month. I have spent way too much time chasing them around to fix their mistake. And to top it all off, no one answers their phones. Go to a different dealership. Avoid the headache.

I've come in here a couple of times, primarily for a simple oil change or regular maintenance items, BUT with an email coupon. Otherwise, you can find a cheaper oil change elsewhere. For any major services out of warranty, definitely worth comparing with other shops.

I do own a used Kia which I purchased here, so that brings me back for the car history, and they've definitely improved the Service area and recently seem to be focusing on their customer satisfaction compared to the previous service managers before. My biggest issue is the wait time. This is definitely not your 10-minute oil service.

I want to preface this review by saying that this is for the SERVICE DEPARTMENT only:

So I took my Forte in for a routine oil change and tire rotation.  This was the first time I've used Kia service as I have a mechanic that I use and feel comfortable with.  I got the bill for $63.04 an thought it was pretty expensive for the very basic services that I got.  After inspecting my bill I see why- they slid in a "Fuel Treatment" for $19.62 that I didn't want, didn't authorize and wasn't expecting to be charged for.  

Lesson learned:  This will be the last time I use Folger Kia South for any service related issues.  I hope the extra $19.62 that you padded my bill for was worth running off a customer that buys new cars often and that's an avid Yelp reviewer.

Good Kia in Rock Hill made me "jump through hoops" and had me come to their dealership 2 days in one week to take pictures to have them approved. I called Kia's Consumer Hotline after the first visit and got a case number to have my car fixed. Well, when I got to Good Kia for my scheduled appointment, they took my car into the bay and took more pictures. I was told 30 minutes later that my car was ready and another appointment was needed. Much surprise to me, I asked why my headlights had not been fixed since Kia's Case Manager told me it was covered under warranty and was going to be fixed that day. The service associate told me his tech's manager informed him that they needed more pictures to send to the District Parts Manager. This infuriated me because of the amount of time we had already spent trying to get this issue of heavy condensation within my headlights fixed. I was told the entire time that Kia makes Good Kia jump through hoops and that this is normal when it comes to the Kia warranty process.

Well, I called other local Kia dealerships and ended up taking it to Folger Kia. On a busy Saturday, the service department (Ralph and Patron) worked me into their schedule, approved the warranty fix ON THE SPOT with the case number I already had, and didn't have to take more pictures to send to anyone! I was in and out of Folger Kia South within an hour for the SAME services Good Kia was going to make me wait AT LEAST another week before fixing!

I am HIGHLY dissatisfied with Good Kia and WILL drive the extra 30 minutes out of my way to have my car worked on at Folger Kia because of their EXCELLENT customer service from everyone from Ralph to Doug to Patron to even the Cashier!

A+ Folger Kia! (Kudos to everyone at this dealership for helping me get through this frustrating time and showing me what true customer service is all about!)

Worked with Adam Wiesinger at this dealership when I purchased a new 2011 Kia Sportage on May 4th, 2011.  All I can say is that he was very pleasant to deal with and did NOT play the typical back and forth game between myself and some invisible "Sales Manager".

There was no pressure to make a deal right away and their approach seemed laid back at this dealership which really made it easy for me to decide to deal with them at all.
