Reviews on Weiss Toyota Scion

To start, this location would have been super convenient for service and the show room is overall clean and inviting.  I did not end up purchasing from this dealership so take my review how you want.  This is mostly a review on my experience from the Spring of 2014.  I'm hoping things have changed and improved by now.

I was in the market for a new SUV or Minivan and after initially contacting the salesman through an internet inquiry, I stopped into the showroom to meet with the salesman (not going to be named).  He was extremely pleasant and helpful but preoccupied on my initial visit.  I have a pretty busy work schedule so the time I have available to stop in a showroom is very limited.  After some back and forth emails and phone conversations I decided to sit down and discuss numbers.  I had identified a couple vehicles I was interested in. I asked for 1) the best prices on a new car and 2) the best offer on my trade in.

I was hoping for more but unfortunately I was only offered $1,000 off MSRP and a little below blue book value for my trade-in.  The finance manager met with me and stated he really liked my trade in and offered a couple excuses for the price.  Auto sales and dealing can be frustrating process and I am usually pretty cool headed.  So I took in the information for future reference as I decided to shop around at other dealers.
However as I walked out I received a wink and handshake with the words, come back and maybe we could give you a better number.

I left pretty frustrated after being very clear I was looking for the best offer up front without all the games.  What a waste of time.
I did decide to purchase my new vehicle elsewhere. As a courtesy, I sent an email to the salesman stating my decision to purchase elsewhere, thanking him for his time but also giving my reasoning and explaining disappointment with my initial offer.  Instead of a thank you reply I received a very critical and defensive email from the finance manager.  Most of it in BOLD.
Whatever happened to the customer is always right?... and "thanks for the suggestions."  Oh well I will not likely be back.

I purchased my current car from here 2 years ago. Besides maintenance, I've never had any problems with the car, even though it is a Honda. The staff was very professional and explained everything. The salesman was so nice and worked well with me. I'm still very happy with this purchase and glad I wasn't sold a bad car. I would definitely recommend as I will come back here when I purchase my next car.

The service is alright. I wish they would put a little money into the waiting area; the facility is very dated. I know take my car to Lou Fusz.

I wish we could give 0 stars!!! Absolutely disappointed with this business! My husband's Avalon went into the service department for a check engine light. He was told that his catalytic converter needed to be replaced and that it would be a couple days for the part to come in. $1500 and TWO WEEKS LATER with one car between the two of us, the car was "fixed" - or so we thought. He didn't even get a call that the car was ready - he waited multiple days after the date it was supposed to be ready to inquire about the car, and wouldn't you know it they had the car finished. Why didn't they call him?!?

When we went in to pick up the car, not a single person greeted us to ask "how may I help you?" We had to hunt down someone who clearly didn't want to be bothered to ask about the car. He had us wait for him to finish whatever he was doing at the time, then gave back the keys. That was it. I'm so used to Jim Butler Chevrolet in Fenton who has EXCEPTIONAL customer service - every time I pick up the car from their service department, they are exceedingly friendly and helpful. Not only that, but they have a lovely waiting room and provide customers with a free car wash at a local business for each service.

I wish that was the end of the story, but sadly it isn't. A couple days after the car was returned, my husband noticed that the airbag light was flashing. Upon calling the service department, he told them that we would need a loaner car because we couldn't be a one-car household again. You would think they would go out of their way to make things happen since this airbag light wasn't on when we brought the car in TWO WEEKS prior!!! The customer service representative told my husband that she would give him a call as soon as a loaner car was available. It's been OVER A MONTH and my husband is still driving around with the airbag light flashing. I worry about his safety every single day, but he insists that he will be fine. I sure hope he's right because this is ridiculous. Once this order is taken care of by the dealership, this will be the last time we are patronizing this business!!!!!!

Update: He's called and left voicemails, and not a single person has called him back!!! 8/4/2014
If you see on the news that some poor man has died in a car accident because his air bags malfunctioned and the dealership wouldn't even return his calls to fix the situation that they themselves created, that's Weiss Toyota!

Moe was extremely helpful in getting me my first brand new car, especially after my bad experience at Suntrup Nissan. I'm so thankful to have a great deal on a car at a great price.

I bought my last car from this dealership and I must say it was the best dealership I have ever been to!!  I told the salesman Shane that X was what I could afford and I found the vehicle and he made the deal work within the previously discussed parameters!  No get me on the lot and try to get my into something I could not afford. Very happy with my vehicle and would return for my next one!!

Too Long; Didn't Read - Sales staff was nice enough, Financial Managers could use some work with customer recognition and appreciation, office staff was horrible and a headache to deal with.  Go to Jay Wolfe and ask for Scott Campbell.

I wish I could give this place 1.5 stars, while I didn't hate it, I really wouldn't recommend it.  It was  just always a pain!

Purchasing from them was okay, but the number of headaches I experienced afterward was just too many to count.  They didn't send the title out or as they said "it got lost in the mail".  This made it so I couldn't title my car in time for me to move out of state.  I went to the dealer to get an extension and the finance manager that I had dealt with when I bought and put money down didn't even remember me. Which I found very offensive considering I just bought a car not 2-3 weeks earlier.  He finally found Steve and he gave me a Dealer tag and told me that it would be best to 'overnight' the tags back to him once I got my plates.

When I called and made sure the title clerk had gotten the message from Steve for REPLACEMENT title, she got on it and asked if she should call me when she got it.  She called me when she got it (which I did like) and I told her my mom was going to pick it up so she could get plates and get it registered.  The problem now was when my mom (I'm in Chicago and couldn't come down) took the title in, the title clerk had completely SCREWED UP and put one figure on the front and another on the back, making it so they couldn't title it in time.  I was lucky I didn't have to pay a late fee on it, thanks to the DoR but I definitely wouldn't buy from this place again.

I suggest you go to Jay Wolfe.  I didn't have a single problem like this with getting documentation and everything.

I've purchased two cars from this place both were about as good of a deal I could have achieved based on true car, other dealers, car buying services and the internet.  You have to go in educated so you know what you want to pay.  They aren't giving away their profit.  But that's fair in the free market.  Mike Indelicato did a fine job selling and arranging loaners if needed for minor service since they don't have a cafe waiting area.  I'd rather go about my business than sit in a dealership so that satisfies.

Also, the service department did a good job applying TSB and recall fixes to our highly reliable 2010 Prius.  Again, coming in educated helps the outcome.

I came here the other day to have the tire pressure light fixed.  The other people (my usual mechanic & the other Toyota dealer) couldn't fix it right.  But, the service peeps at Weiss Toyota did.  Big huge thank you to those service peeps!  No more annoying tire pressure light that keeps coming on after I keep resetting the darn thing!  I don't know what they did, but the light hasn't come one ever since that visit (& that was about a month ago or so).  YIPPPEEEEEE!!

Just bought a Prius V here.  A smooth, fast transaction, and it seemed like a good deal.  Also, no "dealer-added extras" like plastic pinstripes and paint sealant to run up the price.  Our sales guy was Mike.  Go see him.

My air bag light came on and I took it into Weiss. They told me there would be a $90 diagnostic over the phone, but when I went it they said it would be $131. An hour later they came back with a laundry list of repairs and maintenance issues that needed to be addressed - mind you, I'd asked them to look into the airbag light only. Oh, and the air bag - $1,300 to replace the entire harness and system. Funny how that happens just off warranty. This is the first time I felt the service manager AND mechanic were working on commission. Left promptly never to return...

I have come back here for fluid change and I was surprised at how fast it took. As the TV was screaming loud and annoying in the waiting room, I was told that the front sales floor had very comfortable chairs to sit in if I prefer. Nice chairs for reading! So blissfully quiet! Very nice people, great service and they washed my car for free!
Every time I go (few times now) it is a great experience.
I recommend this dealership.

"easily the best car dealership i've ever dealt with!"

when we moved to stl in 1990, i was driving a toyota mini-van. i tried service at other dealers & was not happy. i stumbled on to weiss on tesson ferry rd., and have been extremely happy with their customer service. my husband & i have purchased 3 toyotas from them - he drives a camry, i drive a prius hybrid. they were no-hassle purchases and the service has continued to be great, even through 3 name changes (it was feld toyota before the current name).

btw, if you're looking for a super salesman who tells it like it is, check out michael indelicato at weiss - and tell him i sent you. he also loves working with scion buyers & owners
