Reviews on Lowry Repair Center

I love these guys. I've lived in Minneapolis for about a year and have been driving out to Eagan to my old car place every time I needed work done, just because I didn't know where to go near my house. I found these guys on Yelp and decided to give it a try for an oil change. The service was great, and they were very friendly. A couple weeks later, my car completely broke down, so I had it towed to Lowry Repair Center. They fixed it within an hour and the cost was completely reasonable. I can't say enough good things about these guys. And who doesn't love supporting a local, family-owned business?

I have used these guys for about 3 years now, every time I go they only fix what is needed, they show me exactly what they are replacing and even keep the broken parts to show me exactly what happened. Fixing your car is rarely cheap, but these guys make it as painless as possible!

I needed a ball joint. Got a quote from a different mechanic that seemed too high. I thought I would check out John's place. Jeff, John's son, gave me two estimates, with different quality parts. Even with the more expensive, American-made part, they were $150 cheaper. They took me over and showed me what the problem was, and got to work once I gave them the go-ahead. I sat with John and had some coffee while his son fixed me up. Once thing that struck me was that John knew almost every customer by name. Pretty cool. These guys are the real deal.

Decided to try this business based on reviews and are glad we did!  As soon as there was an available bay, they got my car up on the lift, diagnosed, quoted a (great) price and had the work done in the same afternoon.  We will definitely be back for any needed repairs and will recommend to friends and family.  Thanks for the great service!

These guys are an old school mechanic shop that does great work!  I have been twice now, once to replace a clutch and now for a wheel bearing repair.  They take the time to explain everything to you and there prices are fair (I always call around and compare).  They also have free loaner cars!  I can't tell you how much I appreciate this since I am super busy and used to put off repairs because I didn't have time to sit around waiting at a mechanic's all day!  At Johns Lowry Repair Center, I just drop it off and go on my way.  They call to check in with what they've found and get down to business.  As long as I'm in the neighborhood (and maybe even if I'm not), I won't take my car anywhere else!

I had no idea where to take my car for repairs. After some Google searching, I found John's Lowry Repair and saw all the really good reviews, plus the fact that they've been around forever and are locally owned.

I called and made an appointment to drop my car off. They were able to get me in within the next few days. I needed my blinkers fixed and brakes checked. Repairs were complete by the end of the day and John explained what was done very thoroughly. I feel they did a great job and were very honest about it as well. I will definitely be bring my car here from now on.

These guys are GREAT!  I dropped by one afternoon out of the blue and they started working on my car right away.  It was just a routine oil change, but they explained everything really well and recommended a solution for my squeaky breaks.  They're honest, which is more than you can say about most mechanics these days.  I'll go back here without a doubt.

Do yourself a favor and take your car to John's Lowry Repair Center.

Good service when your car needs help!

I've been getting vehicles repaired at John's for around 8 years, sporadically for the first two years and exclusively for the last five years.  These guys are fantastic and I really can't say enough good things about them!  They do a great job with repairs & rebuilds, they're fast, the prices are fair, and they're honest.

If you want no bullshit reliable work, these guys are it.  For me, they've worked on everything from a Jaguar hybrid street rod...to a one ton work van...to a daily driver minivan.  They always keep me rolling.

Thank you very much, guys!

We recently bought a low mileage, well maintained, one owner Pontiac from some good friends of ours. We had given it to our son who is a grad student who lives in NE Mpls. We live about 45 minutes away. This morning I got a wake up phone call from our son. The car had died on him while driving it near his home and he had no clue what was wrong. It was DEAD.

I know enough about cars to keep from getting scammed if I need help, but my son is a great musician, not a mechanic. I looked on Yelp to find a nearby shop to get some help for him. I saw that this shop was close and after reading the other review I decided to call.

After giving him all the info he would need for the service call I headed out to meet with them expecting something just short of the worst. After 30 minutes my son called again. Loose battery cables! We only had to pay for the service call. Whoever put the new battery in, apparently didn't tighten them enough.

This was the perfect situation for any, other than honest, auto shop to make a few easy bucks. There are auto clubs and insurance plans of all types that make their living from people from people who wouldn't have a clue what to do in a spot like this.

If you live in NE Mpls and are looking for an honest mechanic, give them a call. If we need their help again, I won't hesitate to call.

I've shopped around quite a bit for an honest and reasonably priced auto shop to help replace my truck's brakes, and the only place I trusted for the longest time was Gary's Auto (in Fridley).
...Until now!

I live in Minneapolis and I was kind of sick of running up to Fridley for my truck's needs, and so I was introduced to Lowry Repair Center, Inc. by a friend who trusts and knows them.

Fun fact: Lowry Auto Repair has been locally owned since the 1960s!

The owner's name is John and he is such a sweetheart! He showed me what was wrong with my brakes (they were rusted) and he treated me with such respect! When I paid, I mentioned that my friend had referred me and I got a discount from my bill and so will she next time she needs to see them.

So next time you need a trusty and honestly priced local auto shop, go to Lowry Auto and tell them Angie Gustafson sent you; it is a nice little discount!
