Established in 1983.

We have been in luxury automotive business since 1983 when Joe Self decided he wanted to welcome a new brand. For him there was only one choice, to sell the best...and that is BMW.

If you live in Wichita KS owning a BMW is not a good idea cause there is really no place to take it for repairs and maintenance. I went to Joe self a few time cause I had no other choice and the cost of their repairs are almost double compared to any other BMW dealership in the entire US that I have been to. And I travel quit a bit. Also they have more than a 100% markup on all their parts. The employees except for the BMW parts center are all rude as hell.
I had to order my parts online cause they were half the price. And these are all BMW genuine parts that I am talking about and not aftermarket.
Fortunately I found a private mechanic who owned his own shop and knew how to work on BMW's and he did all my repairs and maintenance and I provided him with the parts.
A few years ago I had a small fender bender and I took the car to the Joe Self BMW body shop and they estimated $16,500 for the repair to my insurance company so the car was totaled. After all that i showed the estimate sheet to a BMW dealership in another state and they said that their markup for labor/parts are so high that's why it was $16,500 where it should have been $10,750. That's what they estimated me. And this is not a regular body shop it was a genuine BMW Dealership that's not in Kansas. Totaled a car that could have been easily repaired. Also the used cars that they have for sale at least have about a $7000 mark up above Kelly Blue Book value. Do people actually fall for this crap or are they specifically targeting ignorant rich people who don't pay attention to detail. The reason they are doing this is they know you have no choice and you got no other place to take your car. To me this place was A NECESSARY EVIL.
I don't live in Kansas any more (thank goodness) and me and my wife both own BMW's and have no problems at our local BMW dealership. Always treat us with respect and always gives us a loaner car when our cars are in the shop which Joe Self never did. Probably needed $$$ for that too. Everytime I use to see that old man's face (Joe Self) on the bill board advertising their dealership the first word that comes to my mind is "CROOK"
