Reviews on Ray Skillman Kia West

I purchased my 2011 Kia Soul with Ray Skillman. It was mostly a very pleasant experience. I got a really good price from my trade in and they held  the car for me for a week. The banks they went thru for my loan were the two I had explicitly said I would not take a loan with. This was one reason it was mostly a good experience. I went to my bank for a loan. For some reason it took my bank a long time to give me the loan. They kept saying the Vin number did not match an existing vehicle. Once I got my check I went to the dealer to finalize the paperwork. I had to deal with Casey ( I think that was his name ). Reason number two it was mostly pleasant. He came across as very arrogant, not pleasant at all. He told me since I did not go thru one of their banks I did not get the 100,000 mile 10 year warranty. I found out later this was a lie. I called their customer service corporate number and had a conversation about this.

I always have great service when I take my car in for oil changes and scheduled maintenance. I would buy my next car from Ray Skillman when the time comes.

Everyone seems to think that I buy cars at the spur of the moment because one day I'm tooling around town in one car, and the next I've got something new. Truth is, I research the hell out of cars that I want, narrowing it down to just a few, and then make my move when the time is right.

I went to Ray Skillman Kia because I knew I wanted a Kia Optima, and I had a positive buying experience a few years back with my Mazda CX-7. I knew I would get a fair deal, not be hassled to death by pushy salesmen, and have a decent selection to work through. Oh yeah, and they have cookies in the lounge (if the salesmen haven't eaten them all).

My correspondence began online, as it always does with my car buying experience. I lay out my expectations: I want to know that they have what I'm looking for (and trust me, I'm specific), that I'm not going to spend a lot of time in the dealership, and that as much has been done that is possible online.

I kind of felt like I was duped by the Internet Sales department this time though. I worked with one of them, whom I believe didn't really exist, but was one of the Managers or another salesman saying whatever they could to get me in the dealership. I thought I was further along in the process when I agreed to stop in "for a hour or so" to meet with the Manager and get an appraisal on my trade. Instead, the manager immediately turned me over to one of the salespeople on the floor and I began the process from scratch. This ended up working, but it wasn't what I expected.

The overall experience with Andrew, my salesperson, was extremely positive. I left in a new Kia Optima, which is exactly what I wanted, and they made it happen. This was truly a positive experience. My rating is based partially on my perception of the Internet Sales department either being completely fake or existing not to provide customer service but simply to bring people into the dealership.

This review is only for the dealership, not the vehicle (dealers have no control over the quality of the vehicles).

My experience at Ray Skillman Kia West has been nothing short of stellar.   From the point of sale to service this dealer is to-notch.

The purchase experience was very low-key, without the good cop bad cop nonsense and without to much of the"I need to clear this with my manager" stuff.   I was given a fair value on my trade-in and was able to get a lot of options/accessories thrown-in as well.

I also have no complaints about the service department either.   Appointments are easy to schedule and repairs don't take too long.   Of course I can't speak of the fairness of their labor rates because everything has been addressed under warranty of course.

The customer lounge is nothing spectacular, but more than adequate.   It's absolutely spotless and all the basic necessities are there: free Wi-Fi, TV, comfortable chairs/couches, coffee, tea, vending machines, power outlets, workspaces, and if you're lucky--fresh baked chocolate-chip cookies.
