As a rule of thumb, I stay away from dealers who don't want their cars checked by a mechanic.

I saw a listing for a car they have on Cars.com and emailed these guys about it. About an hour later, I got a call from the owner himself and got the good ol' "the car might be gone by tomorrow." and "it's a good car, I'm getting lots of calls about it." I haven't even seen the car yet and already, I'm feeling a lot of pressure to buy it now. When I asked if I could take the car to a mechanic, he said "Well actually, we do mind that." And he gave some excuse about how mechanics can mess with the engine and do whatever they want to it. He also said that they can arrange to have someone take a look at it for me for about $150. Again, I haven't seen the car yet. Why would I pay money for anything? And who is this "mechanic" they're gonna have check the car for me? Is he in the payroll?

Sorry, I can't do business with people who are afraid of informed buyers.

Can't beat em - for ease or price!  I recently purchased a Land Rover LR2 from Frank for my daughter.  Not only was it the best priced LR2 under 30k mile available in the country, the service, follow up and overall customer service was unparalleled.  If you want a great price for a great used car, these are the guys to go to - hands down.
