STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!! Custom service is terrible. After two weeks of running back and forth still no car. Just a lot of wasted time.

Tom D. | 2015-01-09

Just bought a car, was not ready when I got there. Missing a key, dent that was not present when I saw it a few days back. Had me wait and wait due to lack of preparation on their part. O, did I mention the countless phone calls to to some stupid survey. Price was ok but would not recommend!

Absolutely horrible. Cars advertised that aren't there, running around to different dealerships to track down cars and waiting 20 minutes on a "shuttle bus" that never showed up. When I finally found a car I was interested in, I was quoted a price $1500 MORE than the price listed on the Internet. When I looked it up and showed the salesperson and asked for an explanation, it was brushed off and ignored. It was a complete waste of my day and I found the car I want (same car, year and miles) somewhere else for a lot less. This place has a thing or two to learn about customer service.

After spending an entire day emailing back and forth with a sales associate and finally coming to an agreement, I walked into the dealership to find that he had switched the car to one with less options and then acted like it was my fault.  Interesting.

Even worse, he personally insulted my multi-racial family in front of my kids.  He could've had an easy sale--I came ready to sign papers.  Went right into a different dealership, got the car I wanted for what I could pay.  Ridiculous waste of my time at South Chicago Dodge.

Service department was very good about giving me updates on the assessment of the car repairs but once i gave them the green light to do the work i had to call to get updates on the status of the repairs, which always involved a transfer from one dept to another and then a wait for the manager to consult with the mechanic. Took them over a month to fix a blown gasket and a random overheating issue. I'm $2K lighter now and the car still overheats, took it in a few days later to be checked and they tell me it's fine, something about letting the air pockets out of the new radiator. Now i have the heater blowing all the time to keep the car from overheating.

Service Department is horrible! Russ, and Larry is unprofessional. My transmission was worked on 1month ago. Ever since I picked my car up I still have been having the same issues! Russ told me if it was transmission related and my warranty had expired I was responsible for the cost! As well as rental car. Customer Care were helpful. They got further with Service than I did. They told them I would get a rental if it was transmission related. It was! When Customer Care called Larry he told them it was not diagnosed yet! Larry told me he told them that because the work was only 2-3 hrs. Found out the part wasn't in. They told me they would take me home and pick me up! Friday part still is not in! Larry will not tell Customer Care the truth to get my rental. Journey still not fixed 2 days later!! Do not do business with this place! Poor customer service, and poor work!

Couldn't be happier. After getting the absolute WORST treatment at Kingdom Chevy and getting sent (alone) to the very confusing and overwhelming lot at the Nissan dealer across the street, we wandered in to the SCDCJRam.

What a refreshing difference. We were greeted by Adam, who was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. He brought us a list to peruse, then took us out to the cars. We ended up buying one. I plan to bring my kids back and when I am in the market for something new(er), I will remember this place.

The gentleman in the financing department was also awesome.

This place is fair and very welcoming and I would highly recommend it for any sort of car purchase.

I was in the market for a car and I emailed to find out if a car they listed for sale was still available, which of COURSE it was NOT..
I inquired about them matching an offer I received from another dealer in Michigan, and then the 25 calls/emails from their VERY unprofessional people started..
Here is what one of them emailed me when I told them I was NO LONGER INTERESTED.. A total cut and paste.
VERY VERY RUDE AND AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE..DO NOT GO HERE TO BUY A CAR!!!

From the Dealer......

Thanks for the games that were played.....enjoyed and keep us in mind

No longer interested thanks anyways

Another dealer listing used 2010 Chargers for ridiculous prices like $7,000 when they have no intention of dealing for that price. After talking with the web rep he told me all the fees up front so all I had to do was walk into the dealership and check out the car. I go to the dealership and they don't even let me look at the car before running my financials including a credit check. The internet was down and the crappy salesman didn't believe a word I said, even questioning me on minor details about my job like what suburbs I go out to, all while giving me shifty eyes.

We sat there for over an hour while he just bounced around chatting with people, not even daring to make a move without proof that I could afford a $7k car. No offer of refreshments or apologies, nothing. They were doing the same to other people and customers were very frustrated, some even walking out after 30 minutes. The employees were totally unprofessional, cursing outloud (I heard A LOT of "motherf$*&@@%" and "f&^$ this sh&*"). There were a few conservative religious people in there including my aunt a long with some kids which forced one guy to apologize for his language. I toughed it out for an hour and he finally tells me that "the car you wanted has a low battery and something's wrong with the door"? I should have walked out then since he was about to do an obvious bait and switch, but I stayed.

He brings out another 2010 Charger, this one is blue with leather seats, a flat tire and rust all over the wheels. I immediately noticed the $13,995 sticker price on this car, double what I was going for. I ask him about it and his response? "Don't worry about it, I'll take it down in the discounts." Take note this is a used car, he can't discount it (I was even told over the phone no discounts on used cars) so that's an obvious lie. I ask him to go over the financials so that we can see the final price BEFORE I go any further. He refuses and instead gets angry and pretty much yells at us for the next 10 minutes (because he feels disrespected and oh how much work he did for us LOL) before calling his manager over to try and sell us on it.

At this point the dealership is 20 minutes away from closing, we haven't even figured out if I was approved for the financing or not, and I'm getting baited so I tell him no and leave. Oh and a 2010 charger is  worth $11K NOT $14K. Plus on their website it said $9K for that specific charger. THEY THOUGHT I WAS A NEWBIE TO THE CAR GAME AND TRIED TO RIP ME OFF.

Avoid this dealership. Oh did I mention the overpriced $14K used Charger had an AS-IS agreement with it? Meaning if anything happened after I drove off the lot they wouldn't be responsible. Bunch of scam artists.

I don't have any much to complain about them except when I asked if they had a particular vehicle it took about 3 people, 4 days to figure it out. Though  Never received a good answer. The answer was "The car was probably sold". IDK maybe update your inventory more often? Or when they check if a car was stollen every morning maybe send a inventory list to the internet guy? Also take your own pictures of the vehicle would be nice rather than a picture you looked up on google images.

I went to South Chicago Dodge Chrysler Jeep about 3 weeks ago. I worked with salesman Adam, and was able to find a used Hyundai Sonata 2006 for a reasonable price. Around 3 weeks after purchasing the car the transmission started acting up and would not shift from 1st to 2nd gear, I then took the car into a transmission shop and was informed that I was going to need to get the transmission rebuilt.

Although I have no idea if they knew that there was a transmission problem, I felt that I could call and see what they could do to make the situation right. No one should have one of the most expensive parts of a car stop functioning merely weeks after purchase. I then called South Chicago Dodge to speak with Adam, and he informed me that there was nothing that he they could do about it, and said his manager was telling him that the car was sold as is, and therefore he can not do anything about the transmission (which is going to cost around $2000 to fix). I understand that the car is sold as is, but I also understand that as a business if you don't provide someone with what they are purchasing you should do what you can to make that right. Not only will that make that customer come back and provide more business, that customer also can refer people they know. I would not recommend anyone going to this dealership for anything. There is no way to trust a business that can sell you an inferior product (knowingly or not) and not do anything to correct it. I am now going to be out of $2,000 and I could have easily spent my money elsewhere and dealt with another car dealership.

Tom Szucs, the sales manager, returned my call, after leaving him two voice mail,s and informed me that there is nothing that they could do. He told me that they are "up-front" about their cars, but that there is nothing they can do for me. I am basically out of $2,000 and anything else that could go wrong with my car.

Fortunately it ended up that my transmission issue was just a sensor, but the fact that South Chicago Dodge wouldn't have done anything for me is still frustrating.

Recently I took our car in for some routine maintenance including an oil change, tire rotation, etc.  I was disappointed that they don't take service appointments (you have to get in a queue of vehicles that forms outside the overhead door to their service department along 74th Street and wait until they open at 7:30am).  But once inside the garage, everyone was polite and they began work on the car almost immediately.  Everything I asked for was completed in just over an hour.

This is a review for the service department.

I called in to have a warranty repair performed. I was told that I would have to bring the car in and pay a $120 diagnostics fee before they could do anything else. This seemed unjustified because from the description of my problem it was clear that it should be a warranty item. That was red flag number one. I also asked about a safety recall issued on my car for a transmission oil cooler line. The service rep informed me that the parts are back ordered by one week and they would not be able to order the parts until I brought my car in. Therefore, I would have to bring the car, and they would have to hold on to my car for a week until the parts arrived. I asked three times over the phone to make sure I was hearing correctly that in order for them to perform a safety recall repair (3 hour fix), they would have to keep my car for an entire week. They must be out of their mind!!!
I then called another nearby Jeep dealer which gave me a slightly less ridiculous offer. They only wanted $60 for the diagnostics fee, vs. $120.

Finally, I called Napleton's Northwestern Chrysler Jeep Dodge. Even though it was a Saturday, they told me I could come in and that a mechanic would go on a quick test drive to determine what the problem was. I did so and a mechanic immediately took the keys to go for a drive. By the time they called me from the waiting room 30 minutes later, they had already completed the repair under warranty and charged me nothing. They also placed an order for the safety recall part and told me I could schedule a time to come back once the part came in.

I rarely write reviews, but I was so shocked by my phone conversation with South Chicago Chrysler Jeep, that I was compelled to let people know how badly they will try to rip you off in their service department. I would definitely stay away.

this place is the worst.
i had brought them my car for several repairs, the last of which was a problem with my oxygen sensors. when i left they said my check engine light would probably come on again in a few months because my transmission was almost shot.
good thing i didn't bring the car back to these scam artists. my new mechanic said the reason my check engine light came on again is that they had only changed three of the four sensors. he said he had no idea why they wouldn't have switched them all at once. needless to say, my transmission looks great and he switched the sensor for about $150.
i can put two and two together, and i won't be bringing any of my business back here.

After emailing the internet manager on the e-price on the jeep, he told me its $200 less than the red number. I drive all the way from Indiana and they then tell me the red priced number is if you qualify for ALL the rebates!! the price was over 3 grand more.... what a joke, they should just be up front and tell us the price. NOBODY can qualify for all the rebates! I wish i can rate it 0 stars

Its funny, I was inquiring about a black buick rendezvous and I wanted to see pictures before I came down there, It was supposedly being cleaned up and he was going to send pictures then, however, he never did and it got sold. Guess you people don't want my business if you can't be bothered to fulfill your end

I walked into this place a mess, but by the time I walked out I was feeling good with my new car.  I do however agree with Alan C.  the cars did not have prices on the window...I was helped by Darnell who had a great personality and was very helpful giving me advice on how to rebuild my credit.  I wasnt impressed with the location but I was there to buy a car not groceries....So thanks Darnell

Kahari V. | 2013-05-06

Do not get your car service at this dealership!  Do not buy a car from this dealership!  They do not care about their customers.  I had to sue this dealership, because they destroyed my braking system.  They make some people pay deposits on the work they do before they do the work if it "looks like you might not pay them after the work is done," if you know what I mean.  Besides Chrylers all have the same problems, transmissions, and front suspensions are garbage.  Do not get caught in the same trap that I did.  Drove in  needing a $300 repair and had to be towed out needing a $3,000 repair.  I have been without a car form 4 months thanks to South Chicago Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram!  Do not let something similar to this happen to you!

Jessica J. | 2012-03-04

The only person who deserves the 2 stars is Darnell, the salesperson. Other than that this place is a mess! I've bought 2 cars from them, and if they really need the money like in Summer/Fall then they will work with you on any terms you set, but any other season i.e. tax season, absolutely not! They don't take care of their customers, no complimentary food or drinks for your long wait, no free oil changes on the new $26000 vehicle you just purchase from them, no calls concerning my review on the vehicle..nada..I've experienced real customer service from Car Dealerships, and this one seriously lack it! But I am inlove with my 2012 Charger!

This place scares me - what they do with their pricing of vehicles is quite illegal, in my opinion. All of the vehicles in their showroom, and outer lots do not have listed price stickers on their windows.....only if we seem interested in the vehicle would a salesperson bring out a vehicle price sticker from a book..... now something about that practice seems fishy. WHY don't any vehicles have prices listed?????? some of the vehicles don't even have stickers, so they printed one up from one of the computers to show us. SHADY BUSINESS OPERATIONS, if you ask me.
