I've found Midtown Toyota to be a reliable mechanic. They're very thorough in checking my car and quick to fix the problem. More importantly, they won't try to sell you unnecessary services or fabricate problems to charge more.

Went to Midtown first when my hybrid battery went out in my Prius. As most dealerships are, they were EXPENSIVE. I ended up getting the work done through a different company, so Midtown charged me the $119 "estimate" to basically pull the codes and tell me my battery was shot... which I think is extremely pricey.

That said, they have great specials on things like oil changes and tuneups, and the customer service in the shop was great. Thomas is awesome.

My review is for Arturo Garcia. He said he was a manager, the top bull shitter of that place. I brought in my car, just to see how much they could offer for a trade in. He came in and said, Ernest, be honest. Tell me whats wrong with the car? I was shocked, what the hell. And I didnt beg them to buy my car, I just went to see what they can offer, and guess what. He started with alot of bullshit about a car being lemon. That they are not going to give it a good price. He didnt event look at the car, disnt even drive the car, and comes to me saying, "be honest" whats wrong with the car". I said bye bye guys. Go to hell.

I can't thank the staff enough for the Great Help that Ben(cool Dude) and Management did for my mother in law with her new White Prius. We were in and out in less than two hours with her new car. I have been having problems with Grossinger Auto Plex as they sold me a car with drugs, the personal information of the previous owner, and have had continuing problems with the car since I purchased it from them in July.

I felt like I lost my trust in dealerships until I came here and met Jim. He quickly identified that Grossinger Autoplex had recharged the battery in the car before they sold it to me, so when I took it to a mechanic it tested out okay. But a week later, my battery started working inconsistently, leading to my battery dying completely 3 times this last week. Jim identified the issue quickly, which ended up costing me ($380 - thanks Grossinger!) but my car is working great and Jim was super helpful, he even did the recalls while the battery was being replaced.

I will definitely come back again.

Suspect behavior here guys. I took my 2009 Camry there for a rattling noise coming from the engine. They did a quick job of diagnosing it but wanted 760 dollars to fix   which includes 4 hours labor at 110 dollars/hour! Service rep name was Jim. When I said I was going to shop the repair around he said I owed them 61 bucks for the estimate which A: I don't remember him telling me in advance (I would have said no) but also B: $61 dollars was scribbled in sloppy handwriting into a box on a printed form I had signed earlier. When I said hey that scribble wasn't there before Jim got pretty unfriendly. Then C: He refused to give me a printed copy of the estimate. Smells pretty sleazy to me. Stay away from this place guys. I took the same car to Logan Square Auto Repair and got it done for 350 bucks.

I purchased my 09 Camry from Midtown Toyota and they gave me a great deal.  I also bring it back for oil changes and service as they always offer coupons and specials.  Recently I needed a bit more work (water pump and belt) and they were happy to negotiate prices.  Great guys and they do quality work!

UNBELIEVABLE! I'd have to say that this was my first time ever getting yelled at by a salesperson from a car dealership. So, we've been here a couple times negotiating then with some documents. During our last visit, we brought all the documents requested by our salesperson, Juan. However, more documents were needed. It'd have been nice if he had told us exactly what we needed to bring from day one, but he said he didn't have much experience in dealing with businesses so we figured it's okay. While getting our docs ready, I realized that there's another dealership offering less for the same vehicle. I messaged Juan if he can price match before we walk in for the fourth time because this dealership is far from where I live. Then Juan calls yelling, his voice talking over mine because he's so upset that I'm not "cooperating". He said that he's trying to help me out by holding the vehicle for me (which we left a check for them to hold  it so it's not like he's plainly doing it out as a favor) but I'm not appreciative. He said he'll try to talk to his manager AFTER we come in but not before. Really? Are you kidding me? If you're having a bad day, learn to deal with it. You just lost a good sale. He's clearly in the wrong business.

I have to say this was the best car-buying experience I've had...ever. Arturo, the salesman, was very helpful and was not pushy at all. The other staff were also very nice and friendly. I felt very pleased with my purchase and I would definitely recommend this dealership to my friends and those reading this review.

Walked in with all my consumers report info on hand(hidden)-knowing all the numbers.
Told the high pressure salesman that I wanted their best price on a 4runner, and would not tolerate any sales talk, mixing numbers, conversations- JUST their best price. The salesman began doing his scam work. My friend & I walked out. The guy RAN down the street after us, thew me an offer which was still 2k over the figure I had. I said, NO you had your chance. He told me I would never find that 4Runner for that price.
Ended up at Toyota in Schamburg-got the head salesman, he didn't dick around gave me the best price after 15min of going to his desk(w/out us). SOLD! Bought the specific 4runner & package I was looking for.
24 hrs later, salesman #1 from Midtown called me on the ph. looking to make another offer! I was POed, said I already bought FOR the price I was looking at. Told him he blew it.
These guys are slimy & will try to make you think you are getting a deal based on, A+B=BS. Seriously, do your research(Consumer reports, edmunds) know the numbers -do not let them show you any of their numbers, they just want to get you to pay as much as they think they can and will show you how "fair" their number are. And do not be afraid to walk away, or get hooked. Whatever "deal" they throw at you should be good for a couple days, giving you more time to check costs. If you feel intimidated or know you could get sucked in, then have a assertive friend or relative do the talking for you. NEVER feel like you have to decide that moment.

I wish I remember the name of the salesman.  Everyone for that matter. This is a well run dealer. The vibe is so different from Grossinger north Toyota on Touhy and Cicero. Our salesman has been doing this for over 30 some years. He did extensive work to show how fair the price was, for the car we were purchasing by showing us prices for the same make and model, being sold at other dealerships. Very upfront. Plus, they have Altera Coffee! It's like Milwaukee's version of Metropolis or Intelegencia.
Anyway, it was more "no hassle" than Carmax, and they have an affiliate Toyota dealership in Schaumburg. They also have a referral program. $100 for every person you refer and buys a car!

My review is based on experience with Mario Fiallis.
No pressure car presentation.  Emailed competetive price.  Very convenient dealership location.  Follow up emails not to pushy. I just felt good spending money on good car in nice, friendly environment.
I had comparison with Northside Toyota which was a  terrible experience.
My Prius sometimes makes  almost 70mpg. Yeah !!!

I was in the market for a new Prius. I submitted a pricing request via Consumer Reports and got contacted shortly thereafter by Midtown Toyota. They were very prompt with phone calls & emails. I returned their calls and scheduled an appointment with "Mario" at 4PM. I showed up on time and walked into their showroom.

I looked around for a minute to find the receptionist/front-desk or a sign indicating where I should go. There was nothing. There were a few smattered cubicles around the edge of the showroom, most of which were empty. The remainder had a family in them being helped by someone. I didn't want to interrupt someone who was clearly helping someone else, so I began to just aimlessly stroll around and look at the 3-4 cars they had in the showroom. I assumed I'd quickly get picked up by a sales rep.

After 5 minutes of wandering around and not having been greeted or spoken to I was a little annoyed. I saw a huddle of 3 employees in one of the cubicles just whispering and chatting with each other. I made contact with one and smiled. The smile was not returned and they continued chatting. I decided I would stand in one place and wait for someone to greet me or ask me what I was doing. I stood in the middle of the showroom by the entrance for 15 additional minutes making eye contact with every employee who passed me by, sometimes smiling, sometimes raising my eyebrows, or sometimes glaring. Not a single person reacted to my presence in anyway besides to make eye contact and look away.

Finally after 20 minutes of standing around I checked in on Yelp and walked out the door. I walked into Grossinger North about 20 minutes later and was greeted within 30 seconds of walking in. Guess who gets my business?

Thomas was great . . . I work for  a non-profit so we really need to stick to a budget when servicing our organization's vehicle. The repairs cost a lot more than I expected, since the noise the car was making came out of nowhere, and we keep up with regular maintenance. He explained everything and even got on the phone with my manager. He was pleasant and professional - going out of his way to make sure that we were happy. The waiting area is clean, they have wi-fi, a television and free snacks.

I went here on one of the hottest days of the year to look for a toyota yaris. We made it clear to them that we were just looking around but in the five minutes that we were in the lot, three different salesmen came out and each time we told them we were just looking. Each time a salesman came out, he was pressuring us to buy a different car, one that was newer, or more expensive than what i wanted. I was looking for a small car, preferably not hatchback. When we went inside to look at the cars on the show floor, no one came to help us. We walked over to the manager's desk where i went to ask questions. The manager was really rude with my father and I and he kept on cutting my dad off. It was just a terrible experience and the main reason why I didn't buy a car from there.

Watch out for the corolla or matrix exhaust manifold pricing, which I really think that 3 hours labor is very unreasonable when the technician can do it only in 30 minutes when the engine is cold max 1 hour. there are taking customers for a ride on this one. watch out for Carlos because if your a women and if you do not firlt with him lets just say prices are subjected to change without notice. There is a notice on the service door about smoking 15 feet from the facility that employees do not follow, why is that? This place also does not go by any alldata,mitchell, which means that they do not follow a labor guide for there services instead they ask a techinician for the labor rate.

After having an extremely stressful car shopping experience, I was relieved when I walked into Midtown Toyota and was not attacked by a salesperson when I walked through the door. I was there to look at a used car I had found online, and instead of trying to steer me towards a new car (which every other dealer had done), they simply showed me the car I was interested in, took it for a test drive with me, and then discussed a deal on the car. Not ONCE did they try to pressure me into looking at a more expensive or new car.

The staff was very casual and friendly, but still professional. The icing on the cake was when Tom, the salesman who sold me the car, taught me how to drive it...because I'd taken the leap and purchased a manual vehicle and had no prior manual driving experience! He stayed after hours, and in the pouring rain, patiently taught me how to drive my new car. He even followed me home to make sure I made it home OK.

I would highly recommend anyone go there if they are car shopping. They were extremely helpful, honest, and down to earth. Please make sure you ask for Tom!

I had a really great experience with Midtown Toyota that I felt the need to share on Yelp. They really helped me out with some car troubles I was having yesterday - Thomas in particular was awesome!

A few days ago I went out to my car and realized that the battery in my Prius V (2012!) had died. Last night I tried to jump start it using my roommate's jumper cables and car; after the second attempt, when the car would only turn on when the jumper cables were attached, I desperately searched for a Toyota dealership to call for advice and came across Midtown Toyota. SO GLAD I CALLED! I spoke with a gentleman named Thomas who could not have been nicer. He told me what was happening with my car, advised me to get a jump starter kit from Home Depot (rather than jump start it using another car), and told me what to do once the car was up and running. Did I mention that he did all of this over the phone, for free, and way after his shift had ended?? He was incredibly nice and generous with his time, and really knew his stuff. Give this man a raise!

Very happy with our experience here! We bought a lovely Jeep Commander (just what we were looking for) and Tom was the best. Very nice. We got a great deal. Everyone at the dealership was super helpful and pleasant, would definitely recommend them. I am hoping to get a new(er) car soon (since the Jeep was for my husband), and no doubt we will go back :)

For the last 14-months I serviced at Midtown Toyota and was satisfied. But not after my most recent service there when the Service Assistant told me that the mechanic noted that I'd need new brakes soon. Here's my issue...I just did a 4-wheel brake job at Midtown 4-months ago. I have 2,000 miles on the new brakes. This feedback from the Service Assistant left me with no confidence in Midtown and I'm now looking for a new dealership.

If you like spending more money for less service, then come here. If you like someone handing you yours keys,  point to a street to where you car is, then walk off...come here.

I only came here for the free oil changes that came with purchasing the car. I didn't find out till I got there that they had expired. I should've just gone to Jiffy Lube, but I had already spent 30min in line outside the garage door. The 45min wait was really 60, and for more money they did less work. Whereas Midtown simply just does the oil change, Jiffy vacuums out the car, cleans your windows and your dashboard.  

When it was all done, the employee handed me my keys, pointed in a general direction and told me where I could find my car.  

GO TO JIFFY LUBE.

went there to possibly purchase a new car, spoke with Ben and Manny, I left the dealer with the understanding that they were working on financing for a prius I liked. I never got a call as to the status of my deal or if an outcome had been reached. I'm disappointed because they were nice to deal with in person. No follow up is poor customer service.

Props to Ben. We had a price in mind, and Ben did the legwork so that the dealership met it. We didn't feel like we were getting scammed. He was very straightforward about costs and what we could expect from each model (we checked most of the line--Yaris, Corolla, Camry, Prius, and Rav4, and we went with the Rav4). We walked in expecting to be overrun by hyper-aggressive salespeople, but Ben was honest about what each model offered or lacked, and negotiated  to meet our price.

You know, I stand by everything I said in my review, but the fact is, they have gotten something (or multiple things) wrong *every* *single* *time* I've gone in there. This time, they said they fixed the lighter fuse but it turned out they hadn't. And they'd overcharged me for brake work. And they hadn't fixed the glove compartment at all, despite saying they had.

Do they own up to such gaffes? In large part, yes.  But who wants to waste time and energy going to some place that you always have to go back to to correct something they messed up? Would you go to an accountant who fit that description? Neither would I.

Despite their being superlocal to me, and affable and so on, I won't be going back there again. It's just not worth the trouble.

Everyone at Midtown Toyota is friendly and courteous.  The service staff work along with you, the customer, to keep you satisfied and make sure the job is done right.  I have been going to Midtown Toyouta for years, and they LOVE working on my 1987 Camry Wagon.  Although it never needs much work, I am greeted as an old friend of the family when I do come in for service.  Having an older car, I must say, it has been kept in tip-top condition by the service AND parts depts.  They are the best.  They are truely concerned to keep your satisfaction, and keep you coming back again.  Their prices are reasonable, and their work is guaranteed under their time frame.  I have never had to go back because of poor work, and they do follow ups to make sure your car is doing as expected.  If you want premium service, I would recommend Midtown Toyota for service or for that new Toyota you have been wanting to get!!  Sharon G.

After years of frustration with (and suspicion of) the uncaring, overcharging folks at Toyota North Side, my girlfriend and I took her car to Toyota Midtown.  What a difference!  Tom was polite and professional, gave us an immediate estimate, and then had the car repaired perfectly in a short amount of time.  The final bill came in under the estimate!!

Even better, they noticed that we had taped up the front undercarriage (hard to do without getting the car on a lift) somewhat poorly.  Carlos re-taped it for us, and now it looks much better!  The aforementioned North Side folks had half a dozen chances to do this little nice thing for us, and they never bothered.

We normally go to Ashland Tire (see my other review), but sometimes only the dealer has a certain part and we have to go to the dealership.  Go to Ashland if you can, Midtown if you must!

I'm not really keen on going to dealerships for maintanence work, but my girlfriend and I decided to give it a try. I had called the dealership up to set an appointment up and I had spoken with Marcos. He was very polite and told us to come right in. We came in at 3:00 (and this is the part on why there wasn't a 5 star service), and we pulled by the garage and honked as the instructions had listed. There was a technician that looked out the garage window, and walked passed us. I assumed he was going to open the door, but then I saw him walk the other way again and then standing there scratching his head followed by us honking again only for him to shove his index finger at me. After we had another car in back of us honking, they finally let us in. We speak with Marcos and he runs down the rundown on the services that the vehicle will be provided with, afterward we were accompanied to the waiting room, which had a very clean lobby and coffee. I drank a couple cups to wake up as I was watching the tv. They finished the services in about an hour and 15 minutes, which is not bad. Ultimately, it was a great experience with the exception of first getting there. We had a rear wiper blade ordered, and went back on the weekend and had it put on. Great service, but could be better with the garage door!

Pros:
Friendly and attentive staff

Clean and neat waiting room

Cons:
Had to wait 15 minutes for the garage to open when honking.

DO NOT PATRONIZE HERE. Please go elsewhere. My mother went here for an oil change today. She initially went to Goodyear this morning however their oil change was $38 so she drove a little further out of the way to go the dealer. Their oil change was $28. She advised the Service Representative that her brakes were squeaking and the Representative-Kevin Fahey advised my mother that he would inspect the brakes for free. Instead he had the brakes installed and advised her of a grand total of $317 which included a license plate mount for $22 and the change for $28 (these services were authorized) the pads were $65 and the labor was $195. My mother is a senior on a fixed income and she would have never authorized $317 worth of work therefore she had to borrow money from a friend to pay for her car. When she asked the service manager Tom Hansen to remove the pads he stated that he could not since they tested the brakes and that she would be responsible for the cost of labor. He also advised her that the inspection was in fact free.

I'm surprised to read the lousy reviews of Midtown.  I bought my Yaris there two years ago and the buying experience was quiet good.  I had to pre-order the car and the salesperson was very straightforward about how much time it would take, what I would get and how the paying process would work.  Compare this with my (brief) experience with Grossinger Toyota-- they wanted money down without an estimate of when the car would arrive or even a reassurance that I would get the color or features that I wanted.

My Midtown salesperson (who was on his way to joining the police academy when we got the car) was about as low-pressure a salesperson as you can get in a car dealership, I think, and the experience was about as good a one as you can have.  Not slimy or creepy or uncomfortable.

I recently had to bring the Yaris back for a recall issue.  They assured me I wouldn't need an appointment and told me how much time it would take.  I also had them reset my Maintenance Required light and look at my CD player which had stopped working.  The recall repair took exactly the amount of time as they had estimated and although they couldn't repair the stereo, they ordered the part at no charge since it's covered under warranty.  The part came in within their estimated time of arrival and I'll be getting that work done at my convenience.  Tom, the service manager that I dealt with was friendly, professional and easy to work with.  I'm not especially knowledgeable about cars but never felt talked down to or patronized.  Most of the customers in the waiting room were women and all seemed to be dealt with by staff in a very professional manner.

Once the car is out of warranty, I'll probably shop around if I need any repairs.  I'm lucky to have an auto savvy husband who can do the minor stuff.   But I have to say that for warranty work, I was very satisfied and will continue to go back to Midtown.  And if I buy another Toyota in the future, I will go back, too.

Took my car in for some minor service and they tried to sell me $3000 worth of work.  Billing $105 an hour for labor is nuts.  But its a dealership, the work is good, maintenance area is clean and impressive, they do decent diagnostics and caught my problem, but they will take you for a ride with extraneous car work if you let em.  Stick to your guns, and only do what you need done by the dealer or under warrenty.  Go to some other mechanic for everything else.  Unless you can actually drop this kind of cash.  This is more of a review for the maintenace area.  I haven't tried the sales experience, but there were managers shouting at idle salespeople when I was there.  Kind of unprofessional, should have taken it to an office not around the other customers.  1.5 stars.  The extra half for actually being able to figure out the problem.

I bought a vehicle from this dealership, and was NOT impressed.  I wanted a spoiler installed and made an appointment to come back.  I arrived early and waited way past my appointment time(1.5 hours), so I asked a if they were ready for me yet.  The salesperson replied: "We're busy with customers right now."  Apparently, once they have your money and you bought the car from them, they're done with you-- you're no longer a "customer".  HA!
