Reviews on Tampa Honda

My daughter bought a brand new Honda Fit from this place. They shyster'd her! As we sat there and went thru the rigamarole of the car buying they gave her one interest rate to keep her payment down (we wanted them at or lower than $300) and then they called her back yesterday and upped the rate and now she can't afford her car payments. We should have known when they never gave her a copy of the first transaction that they were ripping us off.  We will finance somewhere else for sure. Also the receptionist is lackluster and we waited a long time before someone helped us.

Let me preface this by saying I am from RI where customer service in automotive care is vastly different from here. I went to Tampa Honda the first time for an oil change and there was a problem with my rear door look. It made a whiring sound. I advised of all of this over the phone I was assured it would take about 90 minutes for both issues and I would be on my way. I arrived and waited outside for someone to help me, the young attendent ushered me inside to wait another twenty minutes, and by then I WAS NOT checked in and getting ready to leave when Larry came outside to assist. Two FULL hours after I met Larry I had to see what the hold up was, I was advised thirty more minutes. Well I waited another one hour and 30 minutes. I spent my entire afternoon getting and oil change.

I was advised I would have to come back Tuesday so they could order the part. Fine. Tuesday I dropped my car off and it took AN ENTIRE DAY to fix the lock and change two brake pads.

Where I have been getting my car serviced for years was Acura in Seekonk, MA right over the RI line. I WOULD NEVER HAVE HAD TO WAIT. They offer courtesy rental cars for you to use so that you can get errands done and go about your day. INSTEAD OF WASTING YOUR LIFE IN THEIR WAITING ROOM.

My second issue was with a check engine light. It was a nightmare I won't share on here but it was scary and I did not like the level of service and the way the service advisor spoke to me. Unfortunately this is the only Honda in the area so I am stuck until I get rid of my Honda. Which will probably be sooner than later because I dislike the service department so much.

After checking out a few of the local Honda dealers, was finally referred to Tampa Honda from recommendations from my family who had previously purchased 2 vehicles from them in the past. Their reputation and the comments before me speak for the selves.

Phenomenal service ... A+ class all the way.

Upon stepping foot in to the showroom I was immediately greeted with friendly smiles & hospitality by my salesman Angelo. To my surprise he even offered me a bottle of cold water (which in the Florida summer heat is a very nice gesture on a hot summer day!). I Explained to Angelo exactly what i was looking for and he immediately was able to access my needs and show me the car I had envisioned. Angelo has been in the business for a very long time which proved to be very valuable in our encounter. Angelo was one of the most knowledgeable, professional & personable representatives to which i was honored to have worked with during my purchase.

Thank you for helping to put me in the car of my dreams and making the experience of buying a new car totally quick & hassle free. I will be fully recommending him and the Tampa Honda Land location to all future buyers

service review....

came here to get an oil change. had a coupon for $15 but bc of some random fees, it came out to $23 , but couldn't get away without them charging for an oil drain plug?..so in the end it came out to $30... it took about an hour... the valets seemed dead.. they should be more pleasant... the service advisors also had the same disposition...  may or may not come back..

First off there are several different aspects related to a car dealership. The lot, the car service, the sales people, waiting areas, etc. I'm rating this place based on the car service department and waiting area.
I'll just get straight to the point. I've been here twice before to fix something on my car and get a recall things fixed. It was no different this time except it took a whole week to fix what should have taken an hour. Honestly I think it is just bad communication between the people in the service department, because I kept getting told different things by different people; Come in this time, no...come on this day, we ordered the part, we have to check your vehicle than order the part, we have to keep your car...!! WTF. At least they provided me with a rental, but I went out of my way so many time when I should have only been there once. Bad service, but okay compensation.
Also don't bother making an appointment for this place. I've found that regardless of what time you come in, its still first come first serve. You just bring your car in the line, and they get to you when someone is available. Its a real unfair way of doing things, especially when they offer appointments...it just doesn't make a difference!                  The people there seem nice though, I just hope they can get there stuff together. This is the nearest Honda dealership to me but I will be taken my car elsewhere next time.

Typical car salesman. Asked the lady on the phone two simple questions and to call me back when she got the answer.

1. lowest price?
2. What is the last day I could look at the car.

Simple right? No not for them. Basically they forced me to call them back then danced around on price over the phone.

Ok went in... mistake. More dancing and "Fancy Hands" basically refused to come down more than $500 on a 24k on 4yr old used car , then wanted to proceed to jack up the fees with $1,000 in Misc document fees.. IE wanting to pad the bottom line and you get nothing in return.

These guys dont really want to work on price.. and they pad the back end with $1,000 in misc fees on used cars.

Bottom line I don't like "Fancy Hands" and the dance routine. I you want a straight forward deal keep driving.. to another dealer.

This my second review and still 5 stars. My husband took my CRV in for regular maintenance, which is something I have always taken care of. He came home raving about what a great place THL was, how fast and friendly the service is, and how convenient it was to be able to use his laptop with the free wifi in the customer lounge area. So it is not just me having excellent care over the past 4 years since I purchased the car.

DO NOT BUY A CAR HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Be sure to read the filtered reviews for more evidence about this terrible car dealership.)

Tampa Honda was the worst experience I've ever had at a car dealership, they're rude and disrespectful to the fullest extent - not once but TWICE!!!

Bottom line: They treat you like dirt it they don't think they can get money out of you.

Round 1:
I moved to Tampa and didn't have a car. Fresh out of tech school in the military. The dealership said they'd pick me up and drive their car back to the dealership as a test drive. They said they'd drive me back to base afterward (MacDill).  Foolish of me to believe them.

After 30 minutes of haggling with the sales rep, the manager stepped in who was even worse. Full well knowing I didn't have a car or ride back to base, he talked down to me, belittled my every suggestion or concern, and kept trying to coerce me into a higher price thinking I was an easy sale (i.e. easy target).

When we finally agreed on a price the manager came out with a completed contract and told me to sign the bottom line quickly. He was resistant when I asked to review the contract and kept a tight hold on it, never letting go. I took the contract from him and turned away, reviewed it, and saw the price on the contract was $1500 HIGHER than the price we agreed on!!!  CRIMINALS!!!

I turned down the deal and they flat out refused to drive me back to base.

Round 2:
A year and a half later, I came back to Honda Land to test drive the new Honda's, assuming they wouldn't remember me and that thief of a manager had moved on. Well, I didn't even make it in the front door.

I was approached by three eager sales reps happily waiting to assist me as soon as I pulled up.  When they asked me what I was looking for, I politely told them that I wanted to test drive the new Honda's but wasn't ready to buy today.  I said I had a few other cars I wanted to drive before making my final decision.

To my complete surprise and shock, they all turned away from me without even a word and walked away.  They all left me standing there at the front door wondering what just happened.

I walked around for a few minutes but nobody would speak to me and everyone seemed too busy to talk to me. I guess its all about the sale...

DO NOT BUY A CAR HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I went across the street and bought a Nissan.  Much nicer cars and much better service.

Usually I'm amongst the first to beat up on car dealers that are not of the luxury variety (my last two cars were Audis and I love Reeves)

For grad school, I ditched the fun, but expensive TT Roadster (sheds tear) and got myself a nice, reliable, sensible, one year old Element from this dealership in 2006... and then: moved  to Gainesville. The Element had a radio issue, they said "covered by the certified warranty" - get it fixed in Gainesville, or here - whatever is convenient for you...

So... yeah ... long story short, it was a bigger problem than a dead radio - it was body work, water damage and electrical issues... and you know what? THEY STOOD BEHIND the problem, and authorized it getting fixed by the Gville dealer. That was damned impressive. I was honestly expecting some flack and got none.

Now, like most dealers, the buy/trade in part was the usual cheezy BS, but this bit of service on the part of both dealers earned my respect and positive comments that continue to this day. I'm still driving that Element and probably will be for some time (stupid school loans).

Now that I'm back in Tampa, I'll have to pop in for an oil change, and say thanks again.

PS: The Dealer in Gainesville is totally top notch.

I have been sitting here for 5 hours waiting for a 2 hour window repair. Nobody seems to concerned about my inconvenience. Worst of all, for some inane reason they are playing Christmas songs throughout the waiting room.
