I loved Carmax. I bought my first vehicle ever on November 29, 2014. I entered Carmax and was met by the best salesman I ever met, Eddie Craker. He wasn't good because he tried to sell me a car though. He told me that he would try to find me a car that was within my budget and also met my specifications. And he recommended certain vehicle brands. It was hassle free. I ended up with a sweet car that met my specs and also brings admiration among my friends and co-workers. It was worth going! And since I have absolutely no credit, it was surprisingly affordable.

We have never purchased a car from Carmax until a week ago, and I have to say it was the best car buying experience we've ever had. Just in the last six years we've bought over 15 vehicles for personal and commercial use and the experience is always terrible and very, very long. Aaron Fitzgerald was our rep and he was extremely attentive, professional, friendly, and made the whole buying experience very easy. We were skeptical about the no haggling policy but it's terrific! We ordered a vehicle from Texas and it arrived 5 days early, in great shape. I think the entire process took under an hour. We are very pleased, great prices, great staff.

We just purchased our third vehicle from CarMax today !!!  I can tell you it was a real treat to have Michael Masucci as our Sales Consultant!!! Things couldn't have gone smoother!!! Bought my cobolt from them several years ago, having triplets in a week and found a van we loved, test drove it and brought full amount in cash to purchase. Our cobalt according to carmax was in great condition and according to their site, same car selling for 9,000-10,000, they offered us 5,000! We asked about this and they said it's all it was worth. Another dealership offered us 6,900. Which is close to what we owe and the same van elsewhere 1,000 cheaper. We took our business somewhere else. The 26,000 dollar van we test drove at carmax was filled with small ants. It was dirty and the sales guy was reading a script to us off the computer. Totally wasted our time. Manager was of no help either! I believe that they are not trust worthy! Beware buyers.

First of all, I am only reviewing the vehicle appraisal part of this business. That is all I went there for.
Nelson Howard helped me from beginning to end in a professional and courteous manner. He is very knowledgeable about used car values. I received what I believe to be a fair appraisal for my vehicle in under 30 minutes. Afterwards, Nelson took time out of his day (about 20 minutes) to let me test drive a vehicle, even though he knew I was not serious about buying a vehicle at that time. Thanks for a wonderful experience.

I was looking for a truck last month . So me and my cousin stopped at the local carmax . We went in and no one even came to see if we needed any help . We thought that was weird sense me and my cousin had been to several dealers and we asked if we needed any help and soon as we showed up. So my and my cousin start looking around and we spent over a hour in there on the show room floor looking around . Meanwhile other ppl have walked in and got service right away . I'll never even step foot in another carmax ever . Bad service

This is the 5th vehicle I purchased from multiple Carmax locations and fortunately I never had to experience any of the service departments until now.  Like another reviewer I am advising to buy your car here get the extended warranty and take the car to ANOTHER dealer for repairs. Not sure what the deal is at this location but they seem to have failed with every opportunity.  i gave experienced the following service. They lost my key in the overnight drop box (not working on the car for 24hrs), after multiple calls and an excuse that this was an oversight and only happened once before (which means it shouldn't have happened again)the repairs began.  To accommodate me they provided me a loaner vehicle that smelled like mildew and should never be provided to customers for use.  When I picked up my car they  failed to repair the original issue and misdiagnosed additional AC issues until I pointed out that the original issues wasn't ever fixed to begin with. When i went to reclaim my vehicle I noticed paint damage (scratches on the exterior of vehicle, grease scuffs and a foul odor inside of the car.) Then there was the oops we ordered the wrong part fiasco causing two more days of delay.  Not being one to vent online I called Carmax corporate and never received the follow up call I was promised.   To add insult to injury it took the cashiers office an hour to locate my car.

Crooks! Took my car to see about selling it to them since I'm moving across country and don't want to take it. They tried telling me the drivers side had probably all been replaced as well as the front bumper, even tho the carfax and auto check were both clean, and the manufactures stickers were still on all those parts so I know otherwise!! I took my car to a dealer and they bought it for 3,000 more than this shady place did with no hassle!

My husband and I used to hate car buying, the process was long, difficult and often frustrating.  No matter how good we negotiated, we always feel used and slimy when we left dealerships.  Then we stumbled across CarMax and everything changed!  We were lucky enough to have Zane greet us at the door and he made the process relaxed and fun.  We sold/bought one car that day (3+ years ago) and have since sold/bought 3 more cars from him.  Whenever we want to do some research, get an opinion or seriously shop we text him to set up a time to meet with him.  Every time we have checked their purchase and sale prices with KBB we have been happy with the deal we were getting.  Their Tampa inventory is good, but if you want something very specific they are great about transferring in whatever you want.  For a no pressure, fun car buying experience go to CarMax!

Carmax on nebraska in Tampa is an excellent business to deal with. My mother was selling her 2010 Jeep and Carmax gave us an excellent fair market value quote in less than 1 hour.  The facility is clean and comfortable and the employess very helpful and friendly. We ran into a snag when processing the paperwork, the loan originator (nothing to do with Carmax)  had  mistakenly marked the vehicle as a lease, which causes a problem clearing the title. Very long story short, an employee named Alysha Miur (in the finance dept)  was exemplary in helping us identify, process and clear up the problem. Besides professionalism, she was so pleasant and kind.  Ms Miur went over and above any expectations we may have had. She kept us informed via telephone over the course of 2 days any updates on the situation. We will definitly be doing business with Carmax Tampa in the future. Thank you for showing customers service we've long since forgotten existed.

Great experience with Raj at Carmax in Tampa.  My mom had a heart attack and had to sell her car in a hurry before going to assisted living.   It took less than an hour to get a generous offer and a check for her 7 year old car.   Thank you Carmax for relieving us of this burden.  I wish there were a Housemax.

CarMax Tampa is a high integrity dealership.  We had an extraordinary buying experience!  However, a dealer is not really known until it is tested.  We had a service issue that took a little effort to get resolved, and in the end, this dealership went over and above what was expected to insure that we would be happy, returning, reference customers.  They passed with flying colors and we are now all of the above.  I'd buy another car from these fine folks any time.

This is the first time I have used Carmax and I must say I am very happy, happy enough to go back when I want to get another car. They really are a no hassle dealer. We got ever thing done in a matter of hours from finding the car to driving off the lot. They even give you a hard licensee plate instead of getting a temporary one. I am very impressed with the service, cars and financing. We looked online and found several car we were interested before we went. You can even have cars brought from another Carmax  including other states for a fee. They will buy your car even if you dont buy one of theirs which is nice. The prices are firm no haggling so do research on the car you are looking at some of the prices are a really good deal and others not so much so again do your research. But dont believe me go check them out for yourself I bet you will be impressed also.

I've been driving for over 20 years and in that time I've had 17 cars.   I love buying cars.  I love new cars but I've bought mostly used.  6 of them I've bought from Carmax.

I love the Carmax concept.  Prices are cleary marked.  Take it or leave it. They will also buy your used car even if you don't buy from them.  I've sold 4 cars to them, and used their written offers on others to beat up other dealers on their trade in offers.

One word of caution. You need to be informed and do your research.  Not all their advertised prices are good.  Some are awesome, some are not.  And their offers to buy your car are not always good.  What I absolutely love about this place is that it is what it is.  There is no pressure, so you get time to do your research.  Their website is very good, and they'll ship cars from other Carmax dealers nationwide for a very reasonable fee.  They also offer extended warranties and have a very large service department.

If you are in the market for a used car, do yourself a favor and visit Carmax. Or even better check out their website first to at least get a sense of what is out there without having to haggle or play games.   You may find yourself a good deal without too much effort.  I certainly did. I'm a fan!
