Reviews on Toyota of North Miami

Laura R. | 2015-04-08

Worst service I have ever had! Why is it that this place just opened and they have horrible customer attention?

Called the day before to make an appointment at 8:30 am where I also asked if their shuttle service would be available then as well (they take you to work/home/etc). GREAT, I thought, I'll be able to drop off my car and make it to work (which is on the same street) by 9 am.

I dropped my car off at 8:30am and by 8:35am I was ready to go to work, they told me the shuttle would be here in a few minutes. I waited until 9:15am and then I asked for a manager who walked outside and told me the shuttle had been "looking and waiting" for me. LIES, I was standing next to the check in desk the ENTIRE time.

Once I get to work (30 minutes late) they call me around noon telling me my car is ready. I then call the manger at 330 pm to have the shuttle car come pick me up and take me back to Toyota. It was 5:15pm and the shuttle car had not arrived yet. Of course by this time my office is closed and I'm not going to wait in the sidewalk for a car that would probably not come. I had to bother a coworker to drop me off.

Once I get there, of course I'm furious. At this point I just want to pay for me car and leave. They tell me it is going to be $210... When the assistant manager who was handling the service of my car had originally told me $186+tax=$199. I'm not one to freak out over a few extra dollars but after all the trouble these people made me go through I did not want to pay an extra penny over what I was told.

One of the managers was kind enough to handle the situation and offered me a discount, but regardless of a discount or not, this was not right. After paying they bring me my car... and of course the clicker doesn't work. At 8:30 am I told Oscar, the assistant manager who was helping me, that it was really important they check my clicker and fix it. The manager who was assisting me told me that there wasn't anything written down saying to have my clicker checked... There went another 20 minutes of waiting. Once my clicker is fixed they bring out my car, and as I am driving away with my seat belt on... The seat belt light is STILL flashing. SERIOUSLY PEOPLE? I didn't even make it out of the parking lot before I had to turn around and hunt for the manager and tell him what was going on.

They tell me they had to reconfigure my car and they would get it done as soon as possible. Another 20-30 minutes pass and my car is FINALLY done. I left Toyota around 7:15pm, mind you I dropped it off at 8:30AM!!!

Overall, my experience at Toyota was horrible. The point of me dropping off my car before work was for the convenience of having them take me to work and pick me up and of course avoid waiting for me car. Just my luck I still had to wait an hour in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon. Who is running this place? It's a total mad house. There is NO organization, everyone points fingers, no one takes responsibility of their actions at all! DO NOT ADVERTISE A SHUTTLE CAR SERVICE IF YOU ARE NOT GOING TO BE ON TIME!!

Regardless if this place is new or conveninent, stay away. My entire family has Toyota cars and I think in the last 4 years we have purchased 4 cars and never gone anywhere other than Toyota of Hollywood. Well, Toyota of North Miami Beach, you lost a very loyal customer and ruined your image.

I was in the market for a FJ Cruiser. I searched long and hard and had about 5 narrowed down. I came to Toyota of North Miami as they had one that was in my price point and with the options I wanted. It didn't have the 4x4 but the market was scarce.
I was greeted by Fernando the sales man.

Fernando was very helpful during the entire process. He let me test drive the vehicle and had reasonable knowledge about the car. He was very up front and honest with the entire process. I've bought used vehicles before. I am understanding of the sales pitches and techniques. I know there might be a little back and forth and the need to leave if the vehicle is not in my price point or if I don't get the financing or price I want.

Was there a little back and forth with the price. Yes, but I don't consider that a bad thing. Look I understand I am trying to get a deal and the dealer is trying to make a buck. We all have to defend what we want or have. I may have not made it easy for them and that is because I am trying to save as much money as possible and I am understanding of that. I waited to the end of Q1 and Month and got the best deal possible on the vehicle compared to the market and was extremely happy with my purchase and the service. Fernando, Mike Diaz and the sales manager were very helpful. They provided exceptional customer service and attention to detail. I don't remember the name of the finance person but he was very helpful and put me in Tier 1 for the best possible finance interest as well which I was very happy with. I did find the dealer fee and TMR to be a bit high. However, i budgeted myself accordingly and took that into account when price shopping and visiting other dealers and seeing what there price and fees were. Overall I got what I wanted and the best price for a Certified Pre-Owned vehicle with warranty which was very important to me.

Fernando, Tony and Mike earned my business and future business.

Joseph G. | 2015-03-28

Excellent service department especially David. He got me taken care of quickly and efficiently. I had some warranty covered repairs and he saw to it that they were handled correctly. They only get 4 stars because it usually takes as long for me to check out and get my car as it does to get the actual work done. I've noticed they are better about it on weekends but I only have time for this sort of thing on weekdays.

After my previous review, Wendy at the dealership was quick to contact me to discuss the events and made every effort to implement change and make things right.  I appreciate that kind of customer service response and will update my review further when I make it back into the dealership.

Rocco M. | 2015-03-17

Unbelievable.  I hate the "back and forth" in buying a new car, and I hate dealing with pushy salespeople.

You will NOT get either of these experiences at Toyota of North Miami.  I bought a new car today, and it was the easiest and most professional car purchase experience I've ever had.

I recommend the place for anyone looking to buy a new or used vehicle, and highly recommend Abner Elidor as a salesperson.

Ask for Abner if you are seriously looking to purchase a vehicle there!

James K. | 2015-03-16

Good place.  Eric Friedman the owner is very helpful and addressed all of my concerns.  Very friendly environment and staff.  Good customer service.  Beat the price o a local Hollywood dealership.

Feliz E. | 2015-03-07

I recommend this place. The salesman Raúl Moran is very friendly, professional, and helpful.

Angie L. | 2015-03-06

Jose was extremely helpful throughout the entire process. He was informative and patient. I had been here once before and came back to this Dealership because of his willingness to help me with the entire experience.

Manny S. | 2015-03-04

Update: Eric Friedman contacted me promptly within 24 hours of the review. As far as the overpayment for the registration, I did receive the paperwork from the dealership that did show the amount they charged me was indeed the amount I was charged. I'm not sure what happened because when I purchased the exact same van (from a different dealership) I had to go to the DMV tag agency to straighten out my tag situation and they only charged me $7.50 for the same transfer, so I'm not sure what exactly is going on. Eric was going to overnight the tag paperwork but called me back stating that the office who handles that process ended up sending it snail mail. He did tell me that if I did in ur a fine for the expired tag that he would reimburse me for that. All in all Eric did a GREAT job at fixing my issues but this shouldn't have happened in the first place.

Rivaling Gilligan's Islands 3 hour tour, the service department oil change also was a 3 hour tour!  3 hours!!!  Arrived with an appointment and was put behind the guy who arrived after me.  I received an apology for the apparent mix-up but the issue wasn't corrected.  The $20 oil change coupon brought me here.  The coupon stated that synthetic oil is extra, which is understandable.  However, as I learned, they charge full service for synthetic oil ($57) which renders the coupon useless.  Slow service and borderline false advertisement won't be bringing me back to this location.

If you are clueless about life in general, the sales staff will love you!  Especially the managers!

This dealership is local, big, and being a loyal Toyota person, it seemed like it might be a legit stop in to price out a new car... I was wrong.  In the age of I can literally look on my phone and see comparable cars from other dealers as I sit there in front of the salesman, all I ask is that you don't try to F*** me.  Obviously they play the sales game, which is expected... but when you're quoting me 6K higher than what MSRP should be and saying it's a deal???  No sir.

Now first of all, I wouldn't be putting any cash down, particularly on a lease.  But when they open with a base model Camry being $4500 down and over $400/month, while their very own website advertises same cash down but $99 a month for the higher model???  I know this is not the dealer for me.  I could finance a new Tacoma, for what they want to lease me on a base model Camry.

They will look you up and down and try  to take you for a fool, even if you're dropping hints that you are educating in buying cars.  Their $600 TMR Nitro package - pure BS.  Their dealer fee - highest in the area.

If you're buying a car, stay as far from this dealer as possible.

The worst and terrible customer service I have had in my life. My saleswoman was Valia. She gave me a follow up and when I finally decided to buy my car with the back camera that she ensured to me five times the camera was not there!!!! she blamed to me because I did not check the first day after I  tried different models, but I did not do because the country where I am from the same car is coming with back camera and navigation and how I told her I was looking for the same. But, hello!!!! I am not the sales person!!!! she has to know what she is selling!!! Is her job!!! the manager on duty was unfriendly and rude with me and my friend. the shuttle service picked us up and after I decided did not buy the car they did not give us a ride to home leaving two women at the road at 9pm...horrible!!!! what a customer service!!! I was ready to buy my car with my check in my pocket but she lied to me several times different days (she looked anxious thinking about my money)m. they do not care clients, if we are satisfied or not, just they want your money in their pockets!!!! I felt really annoying in this place . All the team had a lack of respect to us. After that, I went to kendall toyota, what a difference!!! do not waste your time here!!! Bad bad service!!! It was a nightmare!!!

Cliff's Notes:  5 stars on the price for a new car; 0 stars on the experience.

Full Story (get a cup of coffee or a beer first!):

After much research, we decided to purchase a new 2015 Toyota Prius. We test drove it at a different dealership (subject of another review) and did a ton of research. We knew exactly what we wanted and went to True Car to configure our vehicle and price it out.

I had contacted a few dealerships ahead of time to get the lowdown on the dealer fees. Toyota of North Miami had the best price on the car, but the highest dealer fees. I asked the gentleman over the phone (I believe his name was Ernesto) if he could reduce the dealer fee to be competitive with another dealership and he said no problem.

We visited the dealership at this point to select the color and interior. We were met by sales associate Valia, who was helpful in assisting us in this process and doing a final configuration. She contacted me a little later to advise they could get the car we wanted from their storage and we could come in the following day to pick it up.

The next day, I contacted her to confirm pricing and details before heading over. I was surprised when the cost was not the same as discussed the day before. There was a lot of back and forth before it was made clear that the car we configured on True Car was not what they had in stock. They had something similar, but with some extras. These extras were OK with us, but the communication to get this point across was sorely lacking and nearly derailed the sale.

We arrived and they sent someone out to look at our trade in (which, by the way, was very fair). Valia came over with a number written on a piece of paper, which was not any number that we had discussed. Much confusion ensued. At least three different people came over to "go over the numbers" and "check with the manager". Long story short, I wanted a price break down by price, less trade in, plus tax, registration and dealer fees. They refused to break it down this way. Valia didn't know if tax was charged on the dealer fee or not. No one would tell me the correct % for the tax. I had to back into the breakdown myself and no matter how many times I re-did the numbers, I kept coming up $300 off. We left (the manager actually threw the keys to my old car at me when I asked for them back!!!).  I know it sounds petty to leave over $300 (lord knows I've wasted more than that on stupid stuff over the years), but it was the principal. I work in finance. I have an MBA. Do not try to obfuscate numbers with someone who was forced to take calculus as an adult!

Ernesto called us the next day to see how he could get us back into the dealership and make the sale happen. A long conversation ended with him stating that we wouldn't have had to spend so much time at the dealership the day before if we hadn't argued over every number. Well, if they had just presented the numbers we had previously agreed upon, there wouldn't have been any arguing!!! The mind, it boggles.

We finally took delivery of the car the following day, at the originally agreed upon price. We went after work, so by the time we finished the paperwork, it was getting close to closing time, but Valia didn't show us any features of the car. It was like, "here are the keys, enjoy!". When I had to fill the tank a few weeks later, I had to google where the tank release latch was! We had to figure everything out for ourselves.

Furthermore, I am still getting phone calls and emails from them asking if I am still in the market for a new car or if I have purchased one elsewhere?! They were also not very responsive when I followed up with them for the registration.

In short, the car is absolutely fantastic (over 700 miles so far on a tank and a half of gas!), the price was rock bottom, but the process was so, so painful. I would definitely recommend Toyota of North Miami based on the price alone, but I would caution that one must only visit the dealership armed with steely reserve, math skills, and a calculator!

Rebecca W. | 2014-12-04

I strongly do NOT recommend Toyota of North Miami for Auto Service.  I brought my car in for battery/electrical problems.  The original phone assessment stated I needed a battery & alternator. The battery estimate was normal. However, the alternator estimate was completely erroneous.  Toyota of North Miami (Toyota N. M.) said the cost of the alternator plus labor would be $750.  I called Toyota in Texas, and they looked up the part number for me & the labor cost.  At Toyota in Texas, the cost would be $525 ($375 for alternator, + $150 for 1 hour labor).  At Toyota North N.M. they said labor would be 2 hours, & not 1 hour; so labor is doubled to $300 instead of $150.  Toyota N.M. did reduce the price of the alternator from $375 to $350.  (While I appreciate the effort of taking a $25 off the part price, you were still charging me double for labor?! Why does the Toyota North Miami dealership quote it's Toyota customers $230 more than another Toyota dealership?  What's more is when I called Geneva Motors, they can fix my alternator for a total of $350.  The alternator costs $250, which is $100 less than Toyota N.M. Labor at Geneva Motors is $100 for 1 hour= $350.  A total difference of $400.00!!! Toyota N.M. wanted to charge me more than double! of market value for parts and labor!  I will NEVER go to Toyota of North Miami again. I advise others to take their business elsewhere.

Tracy H. | 2014-11-18

We just had a very bad customer service. We originally pick out a car. They took us three trips to the dealer. Finally they agreed on the price. We came to take the car. They gave us a totally different car that we had chose. And we said that not the car we deal with. And the sale man name Ray was had bad attitude with us  and try to jack up the price. Do not recommend to this kind of business  try to trick people and deceiving. Not honest business.

Nicole S. | 2014-11-17

The technicians here are really nice and helpful. I love that they wash and vacuum your car for you when you have it serviced. Their new location is a lot closer to my house too. They have a cafe with plenty of coffee, sandwiches, pizza and dessert. I never feel like I am getting ripped off and they always tell me the prices upfront.

Johanna M. | 2014-10-30

Outstanding service by Carlos! He went out of his way to take care of our needs.  The service was also faster than we expected.

Vitor O. | 2014-10-20

I took my car for a scheduled maintenance service, overall the service was good, my only complain is that when I asked then to adjust my lights they said that I would have to come back during the week as the specialist don't work on weekends. Of course I'll not come back again just for that, I guess I'll wait the next 5k...

Jean M. | 2014-10-16

This is my third car from Toyota of North Miami, The salesman Karl Khalil is very professional and Friendly. Thank you for all the help you always provide.

Gita S. | 2014-09-12

Ugh. Where do I start? Let's just say if you would like to waste an afternoon only to have to bring your car back several times, then go for it. I cannot say that I completely trust these guys, nor do I reccommend them.

Howard R. | 2014-09-04

I had my car serviced at this location yesterday. While all the employees are very nice and helpful the mechanics can't seem to get it right the first time. I requested from Roberto who by the way was very nice and helpful that the tire pressure should be set at 35 psi. Which he noted on the service paperwork. He told me it would take about an hour for the car to be ready. It took 1:15 minutes not bad, but the tire pressure was at  38 pounds. This normally would not bother me too much except this was the second time it happened here. So back to Roberto who personally took the car back to the garage and basically took care of it himself. This took another 15 minutes. I just wish they could get right the first time.

Giovanna C. | 2014-09-01

Great customer service...I had a good experience with my purchase! Would definitely recommend to my friends!

Luly A. | 2014-08-13

Exceptional customer service. Ernie and Ruben worked with me to make the car buying experience a total delight. I LOVE my new Toyota and highly recommend this dealership. Free car washes for the life of your car!

Adam F. | 2014-08-11

I bought my Tundra at another dealership, but I brought it in for the 5000 mile service to this location.  If and when you bring your car/truck to get service here, you must try and see Jorge Pelayo, the Assistant Service Manager.  He is professional, kind, caring and sincere.  I've been bringing cars in for service for 35 years, and he is by far the best at what he does.
BTW, the café is awesome as well.

Maria B. | 2014-08-11

Horrible service! Though I didn't have an app't, I had to track an employee to check me in. They said an oil change would take 2 hours, which it did, and that was ok, But what got me upset was that I asked for the free car wash & they told me it would take 45 minutes, 1hr later I asked if it was almost done & 40 minutes after that they brought out my car, NOT washed and said they had a long waiting time! I said forget it! And the worse part, I got my car back with a missing hubcap, of which they said it didn't have anything to do with them, which is impossible! No consideration for the time waiting, the missing hubcap, or the false promises! Never again!

Michael S. | 2014-08-07

When they relocated they changed their name, but a Zebra can't change its stripes. I am reposting my review from when they were Lehman Toyota.

"I just moved here to Miami and needed to take my Camry in for scheduled maintenance. I looked up the Toyota dealerships in the area and selected Lehman due to its location being the most convenient.

I was given the quote for service and when I went to check out the invoice was $90.00 higher than quoted. I questioned them on it and they said that it was higher because of tax. I said taxes here aren't 30%, so they responded there is also a shop charge of $25.00. I told them I was not quoted this so I should not be charged for it. I asked for the service manager and it turned out they had added extra stuff onto the bill. It took about 15 minutes to resolve things. During the whole process the people were very unprofessional, rude and uncaring of me as a customer. I am going to be buying a new Toyota Tacoma in the next 1-2 years and I guarantee they will not get this business or any of my future maintenance business."

Additionally since I had my service done they keep calling me and I keep telling them it will be a cold day in H E double hockey sticks before I give them my business again and for them to never contact me again. Yet they keep calling. I've unsubscribed from their emails about 5-6 times and I keep getting their emails. Why would I give a business my business that doesn't respect my repeated requests to not be contacted?

Sabrina N. | 2014-07-22

I got my first car here ! The Sale Person was really helpful. I never felt any push to buy right away. However, it took forever for us to get the payment done (paperwork).

Anastasia Y. | 2014-07-21

Let's face it: in the internet age, car buying is not what it used to be.  When the hybrid battery on my 2005 Toyota Prius started losing its charge (I should point out that this was after putting more than 205,500 miles on it!), I figured it was time to cut my losses and get a new Prius (yes, I like them that much; you would too if you got the equivalent mileage of driving around the earth's equator 8.25x!).  Rather than go into the dealership and haggle over the price, my fiance helped me reach out to various local Toyota dealers online.  And that's when I met Kory Kearney, Internet Sales Manager at Toyota of North Miami.  From the beginning, Kory responded promptly and courteously to each of my emails, and per my request also sent me a picture of the window sticker of the car I wanted.  We worked out the price online and he confirmed it for me before I arrived at the dealer.  I was tempted to give this review 4 stars instead of 5 because they were really busy the day we came in so there was a LONG wait for them to run my credit and have me sit down with the finance manager, but the reason it gets 5 stars is because of Kory's honesty and integrity - yes, I'm actually saying that about a car salesman!  See, I was tempted to get the upgraded VIP Security Package on my new car since the alarm on my old Prius hadn't gone off when it was broken into last year.  But Kory explained to me that even the basic alarms on new Prius cars are way better than they used to be, and he gave me his honest opinion that the extra $$$ it costs to install the VIP alarm might not be worth the investment.  [Note to Kory's manager if he happens to read this review: in case you may be thinking, "That's great but I want my salesmen to earn as much money as possible for the dealership," keep in mind that if I weren't so impressed with Kory's integrity in this regard, I would not have bothered to post a review of my experience online.]  So if you need a new car and want an experience that is as close to hassle-free as you'll get, email Toyota of North Miami and ask for Kory.

Abel F. | 2014-07-11

The service is awful.  This is the fourth time I have to go in to try to get my driver side door lock fixed under warranty, and they just keep screwing up.  The first visit, they ordered the part, 2nd visit, they broke the part that was ordered, and the third visit, they told me that they have to order another part for the door lock (something they should've detected during the first visit.  SO I will be making a fourth visit this week.

They do not take any accountability or show any sympathy for wasting your time due to their mistakes.  They will make up excuses to defend their errors.  They went as far as to say that someone probably used a slim jim on my truck, as to why they didnt detect the 2nd problem.  That's just ridiculous.

The service manager and customer relations manager told me that they were not at fault, and did nothing wrong.  Great vehicles, convenient location, but The service here stinks.  No customer service skills whatsoever.  they do not care about their customers.  Just another meat market for sales.

Good.  Stop calling me.

Dejan M. | 2014-07-03

This place is a nightmare ! I had been in a Toyota dealership few times in Massachusetts before I move to Miami and I have always been very happy with the service they provide me ,and that's why I decided to bring my car in Toyota dealership again . But the experience was totally different than the one in MA. 2 months ago came for a regular tune up on my Toyota Rav4  . When I arrived ( 11 am) I told them that I work from 4:30pm and I have to be back on south beach by 4pm . After couple hours of waiting the sales man came and told me that I had to change like 5 different parts of my car ( the car was running smoothly with no problems ) in total of 1500$ . I was a little surprised  especially because the Mehanic told me I have to change also the spare plugs which I changed last year but according to him they are not proper and the car gonna run with less gas (my car run with same gas now , nothing change)!! Based  on my previous experience in Toyota MA I decided to trust them and to change the parts . The sales man told me if the car is not ready by 3:30 and probably wouldn't be I will get a Toyota dealership rent a car by 3:30 .At 3:30 I went to check and he told me that they will provide me a car on their expense and the car is already on its way to the dealership . The car came at 4:15 ! But that's not all the guy that brought the car told me that he is not late , they just called him from Toyota , not hour ago like they told me and I have to go with him to sign and pay some insurance because its actually not a Toyota car it's a private rent a car . I left the rent a car office at 5pm and I was supposed to be at work from 4:30 . I arrived at my work place at 5:30 which cause me a big problem at work . After 2 days I picked up my car and when I left the car was making a little sound I thought it's not a big deal .A few days ago I went again to tell them about the noise. After they checked the sales man told me that because it happened after I left the service and it is caused from them I will only pay for the parts and the labor gonna be free . I was surprised why I have to pay , its obviously their mistake and he told me he can't do anything about that . I felt I'm getting ripped off and decide not to change the parts, so the guy offered me a free car wash . He said its gonna be about 20-30 min. After 1:30 min waiting I asked and the guy told me that they locked out the keys inside and they are trying to find a way to open my car . Wow ! After 2 hours I got my car back and left , but when I stopped on the first gas station I noticed that one of the car spoilers is missing . I drove back to the dealership and it came out that they'd broke the spoiler during the washing of my car . I spoke to the GM but he didn't look very attentive to help. I left the spoiler so they could fix it .I went after 2 days and told them I will pay 500 for the parts the sales man told me that he did a little research and  he doesn't thing the damage is made by them , it was only a coincident that the part broke exactly after I left the service last time and If I want it fixed I would have to pay 1100$$$!! That was ridiculous , totally embarrassing for official Toyota dealer ship . I left the service very disappoint and the next day I brought my car to a service in a wes star gas station in Miami springs . They fixed my car ( broken from north Miami Toyota dealership ) for only 380$ . At the dealership they were asking 1100 . Would never go back again !

Kenasha P. | 2014-04-07

The staff is very professional. I love the new dealership location, everyone makes you feel like you are part of the Toyota family and work  with you to ensure you have an enjoyable experience. I would definitely recommend this to my friends and family!

Erika P. | 2014-03-29

Incredible services, since you walk in until you finish the purchase of your new car they are so friendly and extremely professional. Our sales man Andres was so great, not the regular bs sales was a pleasure to do business with this dealer. I highly recommend this place!

Very poor service. Came 15 min early for my service appointment. 2 hours later they still haven't got to my car. I talk to a service person here and he goes back to see what is going on. Just then they open my car to change the oil. Mind you this is a tire rotation and oil change ONLY!!!!! How ridiculous! What is the purpose of making an appointment anymore. Being new to Florida....this and a million other things blow my mind every single day. Very frustrating and extremely unprofessional!!!

Really liked the atmosphere of this place ! everything is very modern and feels like a million bucks when i walk in there lol !
I'm really happy with my purchase the sales person i felt with actually tried to get me a low payment instead of shark me like the other places i had gone to. All in all I'm excited i got to trade in my old jeep for a new rav4 for a good deal and good service
haven't every been a fan of dealerships but was very pleased with this one.
Thanks Rafael .A. !! go see him if you actually want really help
