Reviews on Tom Bush MINI

I brought my 2008 Mini Cooper-S to Tom Bush Mini in Jacksonville, FL because my "check engine" light was on, thinking that it was going to be a minor fix. Boy, was I wrong. They came back with a long list of things that "needed" to be repaired, including replacing most of the engine gaskets that my warranty did not cover (how ironic).

This is the exact estimate from their service department:
Oil filter housing gaskets $850.00 + tax
Turbo supply hose and return hose o-ring $903.00 + tax
Vacuum pump $615.00 + tax
Valve Cover Gasket $145.00 + tax
Timing chain tensioner leaking $160.00 + tax
Both 02 sensors are covered in oil $660.00 + tax
Output shaft seal at right axle is leaking $360.00 + tax
Air Bag Control Module $780.00 + tax
DSC control module $710.00 + tax

The total estimate came in at over $5,000.00

I brought the vehicle to an independent shop with good references, for an estimate and they quoted me less than $800.00 with a warranty.

The folks at Tom Bush Mini are rip-offs. It was my intention to get the vehicle repaired and trade it in for a new model, but I no longer trust the Mini Cooper/BMW brands or the dealership. Consumer Beware.

Well, another jackass hit my MINI.

I was in the front of a four car pile up.  The other three cars were totaled but my car only sustained about $800.00 worth of damage to the bumper.

Against my better judgement I took it to Tom Bush's collision department.  I want to like these people, I really do.

They did a good job fixing the bumper. In fact, it looks brand-new, except for the light under the rear door that they glued into place instead of getting a new $1.00 plastic part. WTF?

The bigger problem is that now my map lights, cargo lights and rear door lights no longer work.

I had to bring it back and they messed around for over an hour, exploring the possibility that three bulbs and two LEDs burned out simultaneously.

They couldn't fix it right then so I had to come back yet again in a couple of weeks.

So, I brought it back and got a rental car (paid for by the insurance company - so far, so good).  Many days passed and finally my car was done and  they called to tell me I owed them over $300.00 to fix what they broke when the "fixed" the car.

I told them I was not paying for their mistake and they said something about the glued-on light (they said their notes indicated that I had glued it on).  they don't even know what they have done to the car!

I told them to straightens it out.  They did not think the insurance commonly was going to pay for the extra work.  Unbelievable!

Funny thing is, within minutes they called back and said the insurance company WILL pay,

I think they were trying to double-dip and get paid twice for the work.

Either that or they are completely incompetent.

It could be both.

Good times...

I bought my mini here back in early 2011. Bought a 2011 hardtop, sport, manual; still love the car 3 years later. The service has been great as well. Beth in the service area certainly goes above and beyond to make sure you're taken care of. I had a part go bad and I was 500 miles out of my warranty. Beth made a few phone calls and was able to get it covered for me. Which awesome because it was a really expensive part. They've always been prompt with me and I've never had any issues. I'd definitely recommend them if you are even remotely considering buying a mini. Their showrooms are also always taken care of and clean. The staff is great.

WOOOOOOOT! I'm the new owner of a Mini Cooper Countryman! Although I did not purchase my Mini from this dealership, I can say that everyone here is super helpful, friendly, and very knowledgable. Everyone that works here owns/drives a MINi and is super duper helpful. Clean dealership; hassle free; and hey, it's a kickass car/brand. Every time I come here and need help, I leave with my questions answered.

Excellent help from Andrew in the service department! I live in California, and called to ask about a MCS I'm going to buy from a guy who had it serviced there. Andrew was happy to look up the car and answer all my questions. Woohoo!

This review is really more about the service department as that the only area I have experience in.  The service staff is very nice and are knowledgeable enough about the Mini products to carry on a meaningful conversation when you call in for service.  Most recently, random warning lights had been going off in my car and when I called to make an appointment we had a good conversation confirming that I was reading what the lights were saying correctly.

When I dropped my car off, I caught a ride on the Tom Bush shuttle to work. The driver is super nice and my only complaint is that he only works until 3pm which is a bummer b/c I really needed to be at the office later that day and I hate to ask a co-worker for a ride.  As it turned out, my car ended up needing additional work so they offered me a courtesy vehicle and I ended up catching a ride with a co-worker anyway.  I do feel bad because I think the driver had made arrangements to pick me up later and may have shown up at my office because the Mini  Service Dept didn't call and tell him not to but I'm not totally sure what exactly happened.

ANYway, the important thing is that my wee little car is all fixed, everything was covered under warranty, and I'm motoring away again.

All staff at Tom Bush Family Dealerships are unmatched by any other in Jacksonville. Now add that great service to the uniqueness of a MINI Cooper and it's a fun experience. I guarantee that you have never walked into a showroom like the one at Tom Bush MINI. Bright, colorful and modern, you don't even feel like you're in a car dealership.

You can tell right from the start that there's no pressure to buy either. They know people really enjoy checking out and learning about the MINI so they are there to help you as much or as little as you want. The MINI brand is so cool and if you've never checked them out for yourself, it's worth a trip just to explore a little. A fun fact they shared with me is that there are not 2 of the same style MINI on the entire lot.

There are over 10 million different combinations of MINI vehicles, styles and customization so you will almost never see 2 exactly the same in your life. I highly suggest you check them out, it will be the most fun you ever had at a car dealer.
