Reviews on Tom Bush BMW Orange Park

Andrew P. | 2015-03-10

Can't speak to the sales dept at Tom Bush Orange Park ('TB OP')., but the guys in service are a complete, incompetent joke!  My 2009 335i CPO BMW (purchased elsewhere) has been a comedy of errors with all the issues I've had, which certainly isn't their fault.  But their handling of it and horrible pricing certainly is!  My first major issue was a broken clip that apparently helps align my convertible top.  Mind you, this is a small piece of plastic that even the money-grabbers at BMW couldn't possibly charge more than $10 for, right?  Wrong!  They won't just replace the clip but say they have to order a whole new piece of trim, and paint it!  With labor, this tiny plastic clip worth $.25 giving up the ghost cost me over $500 to replace!  But it gets better!  While having that done I also had them flush the brake fluid.  Easy operation, you would think.  Well, somehow they must have screwed that up big time (by accident or on purpose, no way to know) because on the drive home FROM THE DEALERSHIP, for the first time ever, I now get a warning light saying the COOLANT IS LOW!  Shouldn't be in any way related to the work I had done.  They give me some BS line about how it must've been from a vacuum that was created while working on the car, and they'll just top it off and I should be fine.  Whatever.  I take it back there shortly after that first trip, they top that off and also discover an oil leak in the oil filter housing, which they fix for $50 under my CPO warranty.  Well, later, the coolant light comes back on, and I'm also noticing that my oil level sensor isn't working!  Isn't that something they should have noticed when making sure I didn't lose too much oil while the filter housing was leaking?  Apparently, they don't bother to check on minor details like how much oil you have left after a leak.  So now, I have to bring it BACK IN again to have the oil level sensor replaced, which of course is a 'separate repair' and another $50 even though I'm 100% certain the problem existed when they had the car the first time.  Also, they find that that coolant issue created by a 'small vacuuming effect' on the fluid while working on the car, turns out to be a major leak.  And of course, they claim it isn't covered by my CPO warranty.  And also of course, when I try to complain to BMW NA, they side with the dealership basically agreeing that whatever the dealership claims must be correct and they would not help pay for the repair, which was quoted at over $1,050 to fix (in the first yr on a low mileage CPO car).  I refuse to give TB OP any more of my money, so I take it to Eurospec who specializes in import repairs.  First of all, they find that BMW OPs diagnosis of where the leak is was totally inaccurate, and they quote me a price of $550 including tax.  Tom Bush's estimate didn't even include tax or shop supplies, so I'm sure that I saved at LEAST 50% by getting this repair done elsewhere.  Also, these guys were clearly more professional and competent, as they ALSO discovered yet another problem with my BMW, a valve cover and oil pan gasket leak which is leaking additional oil.  Did both these pop up overnight?  Probably not.  The wastes of spaces at TB either missed it through incompetence or on purpose to avoid doing more warranty work, since these items were explicitly covered by the CPO warranty, and they weren't going to be able to weasel their way out.  I call over to TB and they (obviously annoyed with my existence at this point since I refuse to blindly hand over my money to them---apparently this is the expectation for the 'rich' people that drive BMWs, except that some of us bought ours used relatively cheap being suckered in by the BMW name and the promise of the 'ultimate driving experience') tell me 'well those items will be covered, but if it's not an actual leak and just 'seepage' it will not since that is 'normal'.  Seriously??

I know this is a lot to read and most won't bother, so let me give you the bullet points of my experience both with Tom Bush Orange Park and BMW.

1)  Tom Bush's repair costs are ridiculous, even by BMW dealer standards
2)  they will create new problems that didn't exist when you first brought the car in
3)  they will not catch other problems that already exist, necessitating another trip and more $$
4)  they will do anything to avoid warranty work and make you pay out of pocket, which brings me to my final point about BMW NA (in general)
5)  look up their satisfaction rating with the BBB....a freaking 'F'.  Now look up Ford Motor A+!  No, I'm not saying Ford is comparable to BMW, but you would think that for a fleet of cars the generally start for $50k on up, they would have better reliability, or at LEAST customer service!  They do not care about you once you've made the mistake of purchasing their product.  Go buy a Lexus or an Acura.  Luxury AND reliability with good customer service.  Apparently, it IS possible to have both!  What a concept!!

Pat Kasey, amazing sales rep and he really knows his cars! We have purchased so many vehicles from Pat, I have lost count. The staff here is amazing and they have quite the selection. We have acquired acquired a couple of cars from this location and never had an issue with sales, staff or the assistance.

Granted I go elsewhere for service on my Z3M Roadster, but my wife's car is always under warranty and the staff here does a great job with her car. Never had an issue and I highly recommend Pat for a great car buying experience!

There is only one word to describe my experience here at Tom Bush BMW Orange Park TERRIBLE. This platform does not allow for me to give a zero score but if I had the chance I would. I dealt with Jonathan who works in the service department and he was very rude and did not show much customer service skills. He didn't provide with me with many options and made me feel like I did not have the money to get the repairs done on the vehicle. I was then told that my vehicle wasn't even put on the machine for a diagnostic test that they only looked at it and determine what the issue was. The outcome was that I needed to purchase an entirely new engine which was going to cost me $22,000. Mind you I was still charged be $137 fee for the diagnostic test. I called back to speak with the services manager and I was told that he was with a customer and to have my message forwarded to voicemail. Is that world-class customer service, I think not. I won't be bringing my vehicle back to this location, because I don't desire to be ridiculed and made to feel less than another customer.

Came here with a friend who is a new driver.  I was asking questions regarding the vehicle's features because I was doing the driving. Early on in our conversation with the service representative, it was established that I am not the registered owner of the car. As I asked more questions, I found him to be curt and dismissive and only spoke with my friend despite questions I had on her behalf.  This left a bad taste in my mouth and only reaffirms the decision my wife made to drive a Mercedes-Benz.  Their customer service is above par very much like their vehicles. I hope I will never have the need to come in here. Referrals will not be coming from me either.

I visited this dealership to look at certified pre-owned 3 series.  I wondered the lot for about 20 mins before my boyfriend and I were approached by a sales person.  Once We were approached by a sales person I told him I am looking vehicles and I will not be purchasing a vehicle for another 8 months and I have a friend who works at a dealership in California who may be able to help me get a car.  The sales person told me "then what am I here for? You don't need my help. You are wasting my time." and walked off. He returned 15 mins later and then decided to speak to me about the 3 series vehicles.  I felt that he was trying to sell me maintenance packages versus selling me a car. He told me that customers who do not purchase their car at that dealership they do not get their cars maintenanced in a timely fashion. He said that they have no problem telling someone they have to wait behind someone who purchased from their dealership.  I was never shown the inside of any cars.I will never buy a BMW from this location.

I have been a customer of Tom Bush BMW in Orange Park for about 8 years.  Recently I bought a 5 series BMW that needed to have satellite radio installed.  I spoke with David Levin the parts manager he was great help when I was trying to clear up an issue with Sirius XM.  David took his time to get to the bottom of my issue and he got resolved within hours. I highly recommend David Levin at Tom Bush BMW OP, his customer service is outstanding!

First off, I have been driving BMWs since I was a 19 year old Soldier in the Army in Germany since 1999.  Since then, I have been fortunate enough to be able to keep driving the, "Ultimate Driving Machine" ever since over the years due to many blessings in my life.  In addition, I even had the privilege to work for Tom Bush BMW as a Lot Porter while I was in college after my time in the military. This was a good experience for me back then.  I really enjoyed my time working for them! Wish could have kept working there.

On the service side of the house with Tom Bush BMW, on many occasions Tom Bush OP BMW Service Department has always given me and my wife outstanding service over the years since 2007.  On a personal note, as of now our Service bill since we've been out of factory warranty has been too outrageous!  Just normal wear and tear stuff, e.g., brakes, oil changes and etc.  On one occasion in particular, we had a major repair for a DMTL (Diagnostic Module) Pump for our X5 2009 which was covered my BMW; however, we were charged for it at another dealer (Fields South Orlando) while out of town on vacation for Christmas.  If we didn't have to return for the same repair again, we wouldn't know it was covered by BMW resulting in us receiving a refund, if hadn't of been for Tom Bush BMW Orange Park Service Department.  If hadn't of been for the Service Manager, BJ Scott and then Service Advisor, Kristie Roderick we wouldn't gotten our money back and known about the covered repair.  Second occasion, we when in for a routine service not aware we're out of our factory warranty by a week because we were loyal customers, Service Manager, BJ Scott and Service Advisor, James (can't remember his last name) contacted their Area Manager for approval for expectation to the warranty period saving some money on the repair.  Something I doubt any other BMW Service Department would of went above and beyond to do.

In conclusion, we have always had our BMWs serviced locally at the Orange Park location, since we live in Orange Park because gas is too expensive to drive to Atlantic Blvd for a service!  Most importantly, my wife and I are thankful for Tom Bush BMW OP Service Department's outstanding customer satisfaction and service over the last 8 years.  They have always made my wife and I feel welcomed, they are very professional/ knowledgeable and I feel that we have been given great service at a reasonable price.  I will definitely go back and recommend them to everyone.  This our experience and we can't speak for other customers that have had their vehicle serviced at Tom Bush BMW OP.

Loyal BMW Owners Since 1999 between the two of us.

Car shopping is not something I look forward to. It's a large expense coupled by high pressure sales tactics. Neither of which Im fond of or deal with lightly however a recent trip to my local BMW dealership has changed my view. I was greated by a sales women who was not only pleasant to talk to, but also highly knowledgable of her product line. Specifically the new 4 series. Thank you Nadine for making it a pleasurable experience. As a successful businessman, along with having years of sales experience myself, I must say men are 9 times out of 10 more likely to buy from an young attractive sales women than an old,  cigarette smoking salesman. Whoever hired this young women probably already knew this. Kudos Tom Bush BMW- nice play!

Maybe this location has seen the terrible reviews and stepped their game up on service because I haven't had any issues here. I stopped in recently because my oil light came on and I just drove up, was greeted, and then my car was promptly looked at. The entire process literally took less than 10 min. I came in, got oil, and drove off. When I have called, I've been met with nothing but friendly, professional service.

I'll be here again whenever I need to! (Plus, I have a check-in offer for 50% my next oil change. WOOOOOOT!)

My family has purchased 3 cars from this dealership.  I recently just became an owner of a 2014 320i.  This makes 4 BMWs in our family now.  All purchased from TOM BUSH BMW of Orange Park.  Lola Vavrica made my experience stress-free.  With her knowledge and guidance I was able to find the car I wanted with a reasonable price tag.  The whole staff treated me like family and that is GREAT customer service!!!  Lola, Rob, Pete and the whole Tom Bush staff deserve great praise and I can't thank them enough for such a wonderful experience.  Thank you again!!

Bad customer service. I tried to get routine maintenance. They don't answer their phone so I made an appointment online.  When I arrived, I learned they couldn't help me. If I had talked to a service rep, that would have been determined prior to driving there. But the worst part was being told it wasn't their fault.  No attempt to help me. No attempt to reschedule. Just - not our fault. On top of that, the place looked terrible. Not up to the BMW standards I have come to expect.  Won't go back there again no matter how far I have to drive.

Awful customer service, overpriced maintenance, and didn't even fix the issue! Stay away from this place its a scam....

Great service! Whenever I take my car here, I look forward to talking with Kristie Roderick, the most professional service advisor I have ever known. She takes her job very seriously and is very efficient with her work. She always makes me feel welcome and is always there to take my call, even my TEXT!! (Even after work hours!). One night I called her after my car got a dead battery, and she assisted me fully. One night, she had to explain to me how to get my key open and walked me through that! She is a true asset to the Orange Park store, and she deserves this recognition, even though it is only a small review.

I purchased a CPO 5 series from Tom Bush OP this past Monday. My sales rep was David Stevens. It was probably the best experience I've ever had buying a car. When they gave me the figure for what they would give me for my car, I explained that I had done the research and the car was worth more. Danny Assi the General Manager came into the office to explain that he was making calls to get me as much money as he could for my trade-in. It was a different feeling than I was used to because the vibe I got from him was that he was on my side, wanted to make me happy, and wanted to make the deal happen.

We got the price up on the trade-in and made it happen. I never felt that there was any funny business and the transaction was handled by David and Danny with complete professionalism. Combined with the fact that I qualified for the "BMW makes your payment up to $500 dollars for the first 3 months" deal made it even sweeter.

A few days later I had to take the car in and Ian in the service department was outstanding as well. Took me in quick, got a new loaner for the day and was able to get to work on time.

I'm extremely happy with the service I've received here to say the least and would highly recommend them to anyone who is in the market for a BMW!

This is one review you need to take seriously! We brought our BMW in for a stalling/non starting issue. First we got hit with $120 for diagnostics, then $184 for a battery and $130 for labor!! loaner car available and over 5 hours of waiting! Oh and all the stuff on their receipt about Complimentary exterior wash and vacuum  and 15 point inspection is total BS. Over $425 later we drive out and next morning the car barely starts. We had to travel for a few days and parked at the airport, but packed a booster just in case. Sure enough we return late at night to a dead car, and it wouldn't stay running when jumped, so we had to leave it and take a cab home $70. (plus additional parking charges) Next morning we call Tom Bush and request that they go get it and fix the real problem and credit us for the previous charges. They refused unless we agreed to pay $350 in additional diagnostics and start double talking about telling us they recommended more diagnotics on our initial visit, never happened! Are you kidding, they feel totally justified in getting $800 out of a customer before they've fixed a darn thing.
These folks are REALLY SLIPPERY and are totally focused on sucking you dry. I contacted BMW corporate and they said they would log the complaint but couldn't do anything because the BMW dealerships are independently owned. I called John Bush the owner, and left him a message with my concerns...he couldn't be bothered to return my call--or even have one of his gophers touch base. We're headed to court and I can only hope you take heed and seek out service somewhere else. We are more than fair and understanding people but these guys are crooks!

Had the most exceptional experience at BMW Orange Park! I inquired online and someone contacted me right away.  Any emails or questions I had, they were answered promptly and informatively. From the second I walked into the dealership until I drove off in my car, I didn't feel an ounce of pressure.

If you're ever in the market, I HIGHLY recommend you see David Stevens! He went above and beyond my expectations..
