I saw an ad for a 2003 jeep wrangler on craigslist, and immediately called them. I came in the same night, test drove it the next morning and drove off with it by that afternoon. I got an good deal on it as buyer and i believe they did too as sellers. Kevin and frank really helped me out. They really look out for you and your best interest. They noticed my dad eyeing a bmw, and had him come in two days later to test drive it, and now my dad is the proud owner of a bmw.
it was quick and easy.

They even agreed to help put my hardtop on when i purchase it. I went through a few places trying to purchase a jeep, even as far as modesto, and never have received service this good!

I'm hoping that Cash for Cars (Izzy) does good for my daughter. She drove off the car lot the same day. Her job was her credit.-wiper blades. She's very trusting and I pray they dont take that away. I came to cash for cars looking to purchase a vehicle after I returned home from the military, I drove past and saw a vehicle I had interest in so I stopped. As I circled the vehicle I noticed I was being sized up by a salesman standing on the porch, he walked in and optioned for another an to come outside and assist me. He came down to me and we did the typical pre auto purchase foreplay and head into the office. Before any deal was struck I phoned my dad to ask him about the household insurance plan and adding a vehicle so I can  have insurance established during the period of time the bank and sales manager get my contract together. The man who was on the porch earlier was sitting behind the desk wearing a nice pair of Oakley's and a faded grey hat, he asked who I was speaking with and I told him I was letting my dad know about the auto purchase and immediately after I said my dad he says "oh so you need daddy's permission huh". At that assumption I ended my dealing with them and walked out. I them two stars because one is the lowest and the second because that Porsche I wanted was in pristine condition.

This is a follow-on review of my car purchase.  I did not receive the vehicle registration after two months.  I finally got a call from Cash for Cars stating that DMV won't issue the vehicle registration since it needed to be smogged.  They asked me to take it to a specific SMOG center and they will pay for it at their expense.  I did exactly that and all went well.  

Cash for Cars (not DMV) mailed me the registration tags couple of weeks later.  However, the registration is set to expire in Oct .  I purchased the car end of Jan.  So while I paid for 12 month of registration, I will have to pay DMV again in 9 months.  I essentially paid for 3 moths of registration before I even owned it.

Very shady practice.  They even take a cut out of what you pay DMV.  Will not do business with them again.

Test drove during my search a vette and Roy was my sales guy. He was one of the best I met.  He was very knowledgeable and very quick to answer everything. He gave me all the time int he world and did thing right.

I did not buy the car finally because I was looking at newer model but definitely have to give props to Roy for being a great person to deal with.
Maybe one day I'll get to deal again.

My wife and I brought our car to Cash for Cars, and had a easy time going through the process of selling our car.  We worked with Joe Vargas... who was so helpful and honest.  We talked on the phone and spent time in his office and he was super easy going and great to work with.  High marks for the Cash for Cars guys.  Especially Joe!!! They've also got a pretty sweet collection of vehicles right there on the lot to sell.

I have purchased two past vehicles from Cash for Cars. Greg the owner is a cool and stand up guy. He says it how it is and that is refreshing and appreciated in a World where people will tell you the opposite and just what you want to hear to sell you a car or whatever else.

He went out of his way with me to help me both times and I believe they are fair but kind of get a bad rap for maybe and mostly being mis-understood.

This is a used car lot not a new car lot so you get what you pay for and you do not get a warranty unless you buy one which is understandable. "As is" but they have a mechanic onsite and they test and check out all there cars.

My experience has always been good with them. Marcus was also really great dealing with him and his crew last time I was in and if you have a issue just be straight up with them and they will do the best they can to resolve it within a reasonable and fair way.

I recommend that you give Cash for Cars a try before you judge them to harshly upon Yelp reviews. I have spoken to many people that are happy with them in the past so if you compared that number of people vs the unhappy ones I still believe
they are a great source for used car purchase.

I think it's a great testament to a used car dealership that has been in the exact same location for over 20 years on San Carlos. People like to complain a lot on this site - but seriously - how many other used car businesses who have been in business under the same name for so many years?  They must be doing something right to stay in business this long.

The views expressed here are my opinion only. Not sure what happened here have not been able to hear " The other side of the story, so I am Yelping about it here. about Greg. I met him at our company that I work for and he seemed like a really genuine guy. He expressed a real interest in doing business with me. Not to get into all the details but... after involving both of my bosses and investing well over a combination of 20 man hours.
He said, yeah, I want to talk with you further, sounds reasonable ...lets talk next week.  Now after well over a dozen try's to get a call back, over the past month. No return calls. Nothing. Nada. In sales it's called "The run and hide mode"  No big deal I do not take things personally. You have to have a thick skiin these days, but as I tell the people I speak with. It's no longer "word of mouth, its world of mouth. At first I was concerned that something terrible may have happened to the guy, but his employees  say he's fine. I know the run and hide mode and this guy did not fit the profile.
. But, if Cash for Cars treats potential vendors this way. It may be reflective of the way you may be treated. As for me I am disappointed. In my book, no hard feeling is someone does not want to do business we me, but as a businessman and a human being I feel I deserve a phone call back as a courtesy, don't yah think? At least ?
Anyway, all for now. Seems like a great guy, but what happened therefore as the Soup Nazi said in the great Seinfeld episode

I do not recommend this place at all. At first I thought I would at least give it a try since I was going to a few places down there anyway. I was quoted a price before I got there and after one person looked at it he said he would be willing to try to get me 500 more. Keep in mind this is AFTER he drove it and looked at it and talked with his boss. He also gave me this song and dance about how other places are going to try to low ball me and they will always give more. Well I already had an offer 2,000 higher in southern california but wasn't sure if I really wanted to spend the extra time going down there. The next day I decided to try to just sell it here for the 500 more and take the 1500 loss in order to save some time.
We started the paperwork and once someone else drove it he said he noticed a knocking noise. They had me drive it to a shop, where they incorrectly lifted it and cracked the fiber glass on the body kit. At the time I didn't realize what had happened so unfortunately this just started the progression of getting screwed. They then said there was something wrong with the catalytic converter which I wasn't worried about at all since it was covered under warranty. Since the car was modified they said they had to look into it further to see if anything inside the catalytic converter was modified. We know FOR A FACT nothing inside of it was modified. Two months prior I had it at a mitsubishi dealership (it was a Mitsubishi car) for an O2 sensor replacement. That was covered under warranty BECAUSE nothing inside the converter was modified. We all know any dealer tries to go out of their way to get out of warranty so that alone should tell you something. This puts me at another day lost because of all of their investigating.
The next morning I get a call stating they don't want the car because the catalytic converter was supposedly modified but if we wanted to take 1500 even less for the car then they would consider it. Furious that I had already wasted so much time when I could have already been in southern california getting more for it I took the car off the lot immediately and went to southern california. The dealer I sold it to even said the catalytic converter wasn't modified.
If you enjoy getting screwed then by all means head here but I know I will never return.

I hate to echo the other negative reviews, but I bought a car here last June, which appeared to be in great shape. A week later, my check engine light popped up with no less than 6 codes for maintenance needed. It's possible all these problems occurred simultaneously, I suppose...

However, I've bought multiple used cars, and never had to dump so much cash into them during the first year. The price wasn't even great, it was just okay, and I really liked the car.

The guy who sold it to me was every bit the part of the "used car salesman," as much as I hoped to debunk the stereotype. I think I'm back to buying privately owned used cars.

So I went in to Cash for Cars trying to sell my beater 91 Celica. I was quoted first by some automated system online, after that Joe Vargas gave me a call and told me to come down and they would take it off my hands. After going in I met Joe he was polite but with another customer so he told me to drive my car around while he finished.

After he finished about five min. later he walked us to his back office where all of there best is on display. He goes through KBB website for another five min. just to say that because it's over twenty years old there is no KBB for it. OK I could have told him this he then asked for what I was looking to get out of it and then went off to look at the car with his boss.

This is where things go from just inconvenience to horrible business. First they take about 15min, come back and let me know the car is not something they are interested in. All of this would have been fine if they would have took the time to ask one simple question. Why are you selling your car? or Are you in the market for a car? Simple because my car looked the way it did they assumed me too poor to buy off their high end lot. Less than an hour later I walked out of Stevens Creek Honda with a set of keys to a used civic and was treated as a human through the whole process. Never once did i feel as if I was simply the appearance or even content of my wallet. Here is Joe's very half A'd attempt to rectify, as it came around a week after my visit.

"Wow! I am really sorry. I was searching through my database and just realized that we have never actually been able to discuss your upcoming vehicle purchase, or if your just selling your vehicle to us.

I hope we have not missed out on this opportunity to win your business. If we have, please let me know so I can inform my manager and update our system.

Sold a BMW X3 3.0i fully loaded, 40,000- miles to CfC yesterday night. As smooth, efficient and fair as it gets. Competitive bidding with BMW dealer in San Mateo. From my arrival to leaving with a check to cash it took me less than 45mn. And I got a ride back..
Greg, the owner, knows his business inside out. Sharp and true to his word with me since we agreed on a deal through email exchange first while I was overseas. Can only recommend for sellers. Now on the buying side I must confess that he has very appealing cars on his lot.

Terrible service!
They called me to say they were interested in my ad on craigslist for my 2003 honda accord for 10,500. I come in and they want to buy it for 6,000. They drag me 15 miles to their lot to low ball me like that? They arent very experienced it seemed and not very professional.

A lot, if not all of the reviews for this place are from their family and friends... it takes NOTHING to post a fake ad here, which is what the majority of the SUPER awesome ones are. So sad.

They have much potential to stand out as honorable, businessmen and make WAY MORE money from recurring, long-term, business relationships. They're all about the "hit and run" sleazy sales technique that gives car people a BAD reputation...

Don't we all REFER business to a company that has treated us well, given us good value for our money? And we also keep going back again to spend MORE of our money with them... but not with these guys. Again, lame. Would not come here again.

i really like the customer service at this place.
they showed us the car, we test drove it, and we made a pretty good deal! Miguel was a real good dealer, he was pretty honest and listened to our situation.
i would've given this place 5 stars but it took like almost 4 months til we got out registration/sticker... aside from that the plates were supposed to be on the vehicle behind the little cash for cars sign so when the sticker comes in the mail, we can just remove the sign and stick it on, guess what, the license plate wasn't there.
i called them but they said since it was under our name already we had to go to DMV and take care of it!
so we finally went and we had to pay $19 extra for the stinking plates! it's all good though but all in all, their used cars are pretty nice & miguel was really helpful. just check the plates before leaving the place with your car.
It would really be nice to get reimbursed for the $19 bucks or a gascard  would do for all the inconvinience don't you think?!

Mr. Steve Williams was absolutely amazing! Understanding my situation with remorse he was able to quickly and efficiently find me an automobile that suited me. Granted it wasn't the exact car I wanted I knew he was on my side trying to help me out.

It took a total of 2 hours, to iron out my contract details, contact the bank, register to the DMV, get insurance and test drive. He made the process as painless as possible. I even got to select my monthly payments. Steve was knowledgeable and informed me on the option of trading it in when I was done.

When Steve was taking care of business, he checked up on me and my girlfriend numerous times and made sure that we were ok. He took us step by step in extreme detail to make sure that I knew what was going on.

I'm glad that I can get from point a to point b now and will definitely be back to see Steve for more cars in the future.

I just bought a Toyota Highlander though Miguel and wish to convey that I got a great deal, fair trade in (KBB value), and though the car did initially have a mechanical problem in the drive train, I took it back (within an hour) to show Miguel who had it fixed without hesitation or any convincing beyond hearing the problem himself. And they lent me another car while it was in the shop. I found C4C and Miguel trustworthy and, even despite a little initial disappointment, he was true to his word. My impression was of a pretty professional organization. I'm happy with the transaction.

Granted, it's only been one day since I bought my car here, but I have to give kudos to Izzy and the rest of .

Because of a situation I can't go into here, my credit is not good.  I'm working on rebuilding it, but in the meantime... my old car finally died for good and I needed a replacement.  Auto dealers (new cars) would either tell me there was no way I could financing or wouldn't even bother to return my call after seeing my credit rating.

Izzy was not only professional, but incredibly courteous.  He let us test drive a car and when we found one we liked, he and I were able to come to an agreement and work out financing.  Granted, the interest rate isn't the best, but HE DID IT.  The local Honda dealer was polite but said no.  The local VW dealer wouldn't even call me back.  Izzy did it.

I now have a great car and I feel that i got a great deal.  I would happily recommend Izzy and .  They're awesome.

02/13/10 - a follow up.  It's been 2 months and the car is still awesome.  I wanted to mention that Izzy called me the other day to find out how the car was doing.  I have had one problem show up and he's already volunteered to fix it.  This just makes my opinion of Cash for Cars even higher.

Low ball champions. The wise agent I dealt with, knew zilch about my car, couldn't even pronounce the brand name and made an offer that was way below what a dealer would pay (30%). Ridiculous.

We had an overall good experience with Cash for Cars.  Our sales guy was not pushy, and we ended up getting a great deal on an Acura MDX that was in mint condition.  I think we paid book value, or slightly under.  All the service people that we encountered were very friendly.

The only slight problems:

1/ our registration / plates didn't show up after 1.5 mths, so I started making phone calls.  It took a few days to finally reach someone who could help me.  It turned out that the car needed a Smog Test done, and I had to bring the car back for that, so everything could get processed.

2/  they asked me to come in for Smog Test.  I drove from my home in Morgan Hill, to their car lot.  As soon as I arrived, I was told to go to the place where the Smog tests are done, which was SOUTH of them, about a 10 min drive.  (Which means 20 min's of my driving was a waste, as I could have went straight there in the first place).

3/  I'm sure that we were told that a oil change was included, and the car would be detailed when we first purchased, but that never happened.  I didn't push it either.   I did hint at it when I went to the lot re: smog test, but they just told me where I could get a oil change, near the place where the Smog Test would be done.   They did cover the cost of the Smog Testing.

I think a follow-up call would be good after a purchase, and then perhaps some of the things that were overlooked would be taken care of right away.

I'd give 3.5 stars if I could ;)  But, overall we are happy, so I'll round up to 4 stars :)  I would go back again.

In 2006 my 1990 Toyota Camry gave out on me.  I was commuting from Cupertino to San Carlos every day and taking 2 buses, a train and a shuttle at 5 am to arrive on time at 8 am.  It was a horrible 4 weeks trying to find a used reliable car.  Then I came across your website and decided to make my move!  
I got there and your sales person was very nice and didn't make me feel like I was being taken.  I met you and talked to you very frankly, I am single parent. I REALLY need a reliable car I commute 48 miles round trip every day!  You found a low mileage 1999 Toyota Corolla!!!!  
Well moving to Portland OR from California "which I drove my car here" And as for Dealing with your Accounts Payable "Pam Warren"!!!! She is Fantastic!!!
