Reviews on Karma Cars Inc

Well, either all or most of the reviews here on Yelp are fake or I must have the worst luck in the world. This is going to be a lengthy review but I will try an keep it at a minimum. I purchased a 2006 BMW Z4 from Karma Cars in October, 2014. Let me mention it here that I traded in my 2001 BMW Z3 that I purchased in September, 2013 and had NO PROBLEMS with it at all. I made a mistake!!!

On the day of the purchase, Zack waited until I and my wife were signing the last line on the last piece of document to mention that the left front headlight was not working (Shiesty); nonetheless he said that he would take care of it. As we started to drive home we realized that the entire assembly was not working no high beams or regular light at all. This was Friday night, we drove home with only once light (risking a ticket). On Monday, per Zack's instructions I took the vehicle to BMW San Diego, the car stayed there for two days and then I was told that they could fix the issue at a price tag o $3,000.00. As soon as this information was relayed to Zack, he called me and stated to take the vehicle to "his people" on Balboa Avenue called Advance Automotive. I did as instructed; they kept the vehicle for three more days and then called me stating that the vehicle was fixed. I went there to pick up the vehicle and the light was working. The very next day it rained and low and behold the same light is out again. Zack told me to take it back to Advance Automotive, I did and a few days later the vehicle was fixed. Once again when I wen to pick up the vehicle the headlight worked fine until the next day when it rained again the light was out.

I then refused to take the vehicle to "Zack's People" and found another mechanic on Miramar Mall Road who kept the vehicle another four days and FINALLY fixed the issued (this time permanently) at the tune of a mind warping $700.00. Zack did make good on this and reimbursed me for the full amount.

Now in December, 2014 the check engine light comes on, took the vehicle to another mechanic off Miramar Road to find out that the THERMOSTAT is bad, I had it repaired to the mind warping tune of $592.00.

Now we are in February, 2015 and the steering wheel has been shuddering really bad when breaking at high speeds since purchase (could not pay attention to this before because of all the other issues / expenses). Dropped it off at another mechanic in Poway and have left it there till Monday to be repaired. It turns out that both the front discs are warped and have to be replaced because they were a cheap after market brand placed on a BMW that were clearly rusted, so I also have to change the break pads; also both bushings on the front axle are cracked that need to be replaced at the astounding cost of $863.00 plus I need an alignment at the cost of another $169.00.

All you hard working people like myself, please be careful of where you spend your hard earned cash and of what you buy from KARMA CARS. I am not saying that this is going to happen to you as well but IT COULD!!!!!!!

CAVEAT EMPTOR / BUYER BEWARE _ VERY WARE!!!!!!!!

Zak and Ray were very, very helpful. I came in after finding a specific car I wanted online, was greeted very professionally by them. They're very thorough with their sales approach, not trying to bait or lure me, as well as helped me make a deciding factor in purchasing my car for future benefits. These guys great, I'd refer them to anyone looking for a used car.

I just wanted to add my comments about how great these guys are!  Zac and Roy are the owners and they make it a point to meet your needs honestly.  Great customer service.  Roy went with me to test drive the car 20 minutes away to my house to make sure my kayak would fit in the back  :-) In that amount of time I got to see that they believe in doing the right thing.  Very good experience with Karma Cars!!  Super nice guys.

Great, friendly, and honest customer service. A lot of good looking used cars and they have the car facts for you! I came in on a Friday afternoon wanting to look at their 2008 Toyota Prius. Got to test drive it, got the car facts, did some more research at home. Came in on Monday and ended up purchasing it. Zak was helping me out along the way and never pressured me into buying. These guys are very straight up and willing to work with you. Karma cars was an easy and pleasant experience. They have a variety of cars from Eco, everyday driver, SUV, mid-size SUV, luxury and even exotic. If you're looking for a good, good looking car, but not trying to pay that new car price, go here.

Zak and Jay are FANTASTIC !
I was shopping around town for a Mini Cooper S model and came across Karma Cars up in Kearny Mesa on AutoTrader.  I left a quick message about seeing and test driving the Mini they had and Jay got back to me the next day which I liked as I didn't get the same quick responses from other area dealers.  I guess the other dealers don't want to sell cars as much as Karma Cars does.   ... but Zak and Jay are in the business to sell cars, Obviously, as they returned all of my calls and were very helpful in setting up my test drive.

I met with Jay, what a kind gentleman!  He set me up with the test drive and told me some details about the Mini they were selling ( a White 2006 Mini Cooper S ).  I also asked him if it would be ok if in the event I liked the test drive if they'd be ok with me taking the car down to my personal mechanic to get it looked over and assessed as a good buy.  Jay was fine with that so I knew I was off to a good start,

Long story short, it turned out that the car was in very good condition other than a leak they found under the car when my mechanic had it up on the lift.  It's a used car.  Has just over 100K miles on it.  It's bound to have some kind of issue, but Zak made me a deal on it, and basically we split the cost of fixing the issue, which personally, I think was reasonable as the car looked and drove great.  Zak worked with me to keep me at my budget, I went slightly over because of the taxes and registration crap that we all have to pay regardless, but he and Jay were good business men and worked with me on the price so we all were happy at the end of the day.  Yeah, I wish I could have gotten the car for way less, but again, the car looks amazing and i hope it lasts me a while with good maintenance and care.

On a personal note : Zak made me feel like I was a friend not just a customer, which sealed the deal.  I usually hate dealing with car dealers, and I still do, however, if it weren't for the warm, helpful. friendly disposition of Zak and Jay, I'd probably have gone somewhere else to look for the Mini.

I hope if anyone is looking to buy a used  car, they at least go up and meet with Zak and Jay  and give them an opportunity to earn your business, then  you can see for yourself what kind spirits they have and good KARMA !

I haven't bought a car hear before but I've spoken with owner several times, super honest guy! Unlike most salesman trying to make his commission, he let me know exactly where I would be standing financially if I were to trade my car in. Definite made me rethink my calculations. So instead of getting me to make a somewhat bad financial decision, he laid it out on the table for me.

Thanks karma cars for being honest and a genuine salesman.

I am so pleased to leave this review for Zack & J at Karma Cars. My husband and I bought a 2006 Volvo XC90 from them on Saturday. It was a beautiful one owner car with 66,000 original miles and complete Carfax records. The price was well under blue book and they were the nicest, no pressure guys. We immediately drive the Volvo to Laguna for a family function and it was a dream on the freeway. Everything worked like new- cruise control, navigation, automatic windows, a/c, EVERYTHING. We took it to our mechanic on Tuesday morning for a thorough check, and other than needing an alignment ($60), our guy said the car is PERFECT. Thank you, Karma Cars, Zack, and J. I truly appreciate being treated with respect and honesty, as well as offering a great deal on a great car. You're the best!

Is there an option for no stars? Lol. This place is horrible and made the whole car shopping experience that much more frustrating. I went to look at a car here that was insanely overpriced! I did my research and I did a search for the same car within 500 miles and this was one of the most overpriced cars. It was priced way above Kelly Blue Book Value.  I know that used car salesman can be sleezy, but this takes it to a whole new level. The guy I was dealing with guilt tripped and tried every trick in the book. I asked to take the car to my shop and they acted like they were doing me a HUGE favor by letting me take the car there. We tried to negotiate a deal on the car but they hardly budged. Keep in mind that this car was on the lot for almost a year, and I looked it up and it's still sitting there! If they weren't so sheisty and willing to work with me, I would have taken the vehicle. But they weren't. They were dishonest, stubborn, and shady. After telling them that we were going to have to walk away from purchasing the car, the salesman YELLED and CUSSED at my boyfriend and hung up on him. If that's not terrible customer service, I don't know what is. I never write yelp reviews, but because of my experience with Karma Cars, I felt that others had to know before even wasting their time.

ONE STAR IS A LOT for KARMA cars. This place is a joke. There is no parking here. good luck not getting a ticket or a tow when you park next to a bicycle lane on the road. cars are dirty inside and stained upholstery yukii not even a quick vacumm. sales people are dumb because they are disrespectful to people. Hello you're trying to sell a car not get loud at customers and make them leave. These are not clean cars or hand picked cars. Some cars obviously have deep scratched brake rotors and others the bumpers are not aligned meaning they obviously got crashed and had a jerry rigged repair done. The vehicle I test drove had a click noise under acceleration and it was way overpriced for its condition. If they took care of the cars the same way they get priced maybe I mean maybe in a desperate last resort they can sell a car. Oh and be careful inspecting the car on the side of the road it is not safe. there is no parking lot. This dealership is next to a strip joint and they do have parking. do this, go to karma, get upset about terrible service and then go next door to relax with the babes they will treat u nice.

UGHHHHHH
This is what I experienced when I was looking to buy a car from here...
positive...
nice selection of vehicles(sometimes  you can't judge a book by its cover)

Negatives
hmmmm, selling a car with a broken mirror???
selling a car with broken window(which they said they would fix)
cars have bottom of the line, no name tires.....

I just don't understand how people think they can sell cars with obvious broken things and this place is trying to sell high end cars, BMW, Audi, Mercedes.. etc....

If I can see broken stuff on the car, on the lot,  Lord knows what else is wrong with it under the hood... just saying....

Nice people, but I don't know if this place sells quality used cars????
Better watch your Karma, Karma cars.....

I was assured that they would stand by their cars, but that was not the case. Within 24 hours, the car had problems. It has been to the shop 4 times in 3 months with well over 2000 in expenses. No warranty at all comes with the cars. I recommend staying away from this dealer, the cars come from auction and they do not stand by their vehicles or properly check them out. The mechanic revealed they simply turned the check engine light off, for it to only turn on once the new owner had the car.
