Reviews on Niello Volkswagen

LOVE this dealership. I'm usually uncomfortable going to a dealership alone but I receive great service here. Compared to another dealership I was going to down south, I don't need to approach anyone to get checked in, as soon as I pull up to the service area, there's always someone walking out the door ready to get all my information.

Also, I wouldn't want to take my car somewhere that charges me almost nothing to service it, I trust the workers and staff at Niello and will continue being a customer.

Ahh niello, where do I start. I bought my first 'used' car on my own here, a beetle years back. Ive always taken it here for oil change, repairs etc. I now take my Vw Tiguan here.

Although this place is expensive, you get what you pay for. Not all repair places will give you a loaner to use in the meantime as your car needs to be fixed.

Ron, Rebekah, Dana are all good people. I've usually worked with Ron & Rebekah. They're good about calling you back & giving you details on the issues/etc.

I give them -1 star for the price.

Side note, sign up for mail with them, you can sometimes get discounts.

I had the awesome experience of purchasing a beautiful auto machine from this dealership just 3days ago!

Despite my challenged credit, they did not take me to the back of the lot to view the worst they had, but treated me with respect with awesome customer service and ensured they'd only put me in a vehicle that they too could be proud of.

The vehicle had a major challenge, took it to the service center, they resolved the issue and provided me with a loaner car free of charge.

They truly put their customers first with the over the top customer service.

Now for the ShoutOut's or kuddos, If your car hunting do not hesitate go see TJ or Ed! Ed is no nonsense and will get you taken care of! Sid one of the general managers will make sure it gets done! Any challenges with their vehicles Rebecca, the Service Manager will ensure you and your car are well taken care of.

These folks are the real deal people, hands down! I'm totally in love! lol.

I have never been treated so rudely by a car dealership in my life. We knew the car we wanted, we test drove it, and when we came back to make our offer we wanted to not have a lot of hassle. A dream I know, but we wanted to try. So we made our offer and asked for a yes or no answer. Instead of getting that, we had the normal run around. However, unlike the other places we've purchased cars, whenever I, a woman, spoke the finance person we were dealing with would either glare at me and then turn to talk to my husband or roll his eyes. That was really rude. Then the general manger came out, saying that they don't do deals anymore because they are like carmax, and was also rude. To be fair he didn't roll his eyes or glare at me, he just ignored anything I said and looked at me like he was surprised I could talk. But when we asked for our keys back he stomped off and as we were leaving yelled out my husbands name and then started yelling at him when my husband came into his office. He was very rude and talked to my husband like he was a child. I was extremely insulted and even if they call back and offer us the price we wanted I won't take the offer. The sales person we worked with was very nice and all of the sales men on the floor were polite and said hello and have a nice day and all that. And I do feel bad for them. It must be difficult to make sales when the finance people are so rude and insulting to customers.

After my mom and sister in law both bought cars from niello vw my wife and I decided to check it out as we needed a second vehicle. My mom and sister in law got great deals as they dropped the price of their new vehicles by a minimum of 5 grand each so when we went the same sales guy, Jamal, said he will make sure to take care of my wife and I as they did for my family.

I will say that our credit was in a rehab process so we knew it would be a challenge to get in a car with a low interest rate. However the price of the vehicle was something we were less concerned about as we had trust we would be taken care of. We ended up getting a used vehicle with a 17% interest rate.

Fast forward to today. I tried to get my vehicle refinanced and was very surprised what my bank shared with me. Basically niello did not look out for us on the price of the car. Actually we were over charged nearly five grand. We were over charged so much so that our bank said it's well over 120% of what the car is actually worth. Apparently no banks will touch you if your past the 120 mark. This is after we have had the car nearly a year and have Even made a couple of payments towards the principle outside of our monthly payment.

All I can say is we are very disappointed. We are disappointed in niello and Jamal for not truly having our back and we are disappointed in ourselves for being so naive that they would truly look out for us.

We will not recommend niello to anybody and we will not do any further business with them.

Thank you Jamal and Niello Volkswagen! Great customer service. We were looking for a certified used Passat TDI and after a bad experience at Folsom Lake VW, we went to Niello. Found a car we liked, didn't have to haggle much over price, got price that made us and dealer happy, drove off in about an hour. Great experience, easy transaction, everyone friendly and helpful. My wife and I would strongly recommend Niello VW----see you at Bug o Rama!!!

Daniel N. | 2015-02-27

When we had a problem that others could not figure out, Niello staff nailed it. They also saved us near to a thousand dollars. In a world where professionalism lacks, it is shining there.

Absolutely the best car buying experience I have ever had has been from Niello VW. I bought a new 2015 VW Jetta, and I have zero regrets about the deal. I have purchased around 10 vehicles from various dealerships over the last 15 years. Usually, with past purchases, I feel doubt/regret soon after purchasing. Close to 2 weeks later and I am still happy about the purchase from Niello VW and with zero doubts about the price, and I am very happy with the car.
I was shopping for a 2015 Jetta TDI for a commuter car and had been to another local VW dealership and had a less than happy experience. The next day I decided to stop at Niello VW to compare. Omar and Mark were extremely helpful and I was able to find the exact car I wanted at the price that I wanted. Additionally, I was offered significantly more for my 2011 Jetta in trade compared to the other automall VW dealership - which made it possible for me to buy the new 2015 Jetta that I wanted. Here is the part that really got my attention - Phil in Financing called me back 3 days later and told me he needed me to sign a new deal, because he got me a better deal on my interest rate. Naturally, I was suspicious at first, but it turns out, they found better financing that cut my interest rate nearly in half, saving me nearly $80/month. This was the easiest, least stressful car buying experience that I have ever had.

Bobby R. | 2015-01-19

Great shop with great employees. Everyone is always super nice and very helpful. Their prices are comparable and I feel they are trustworthy. Pretty much the only place I will bring my VW!

Tricia E. | 2015-01-16

Mike is great in the service dept.  Walked me through everything that needed to be done for my 40000m maintenance.  Cost was crazy and youll want to make an appointment.  Over all good experience.

Noelle W. | 2015-01-02

I truly appreciate the service manager and the gentlemen I was working with reaching out to me to get my issue resolved.   It takes alot to say "I'm sorry,"  so for that I truly appreciate you guys.

You have not only gained my respect but my business back too.

Thank you again.

Extremely disappointed with the service I recieved,  they had my car Christmas and New years (total of 9 days) and still was unable to get everything done in the time I was adviced on multiple ocassions. I spent  $500+ and was SUPPOSE to spend another $300+ on keys.  I kept getting the run around, broken promises hate to give bad reviews but I feel this ones is justified.

What makes it worse is they can't pick up the phone and call you to let you know they "messed up," they let you drive all the way there to break the news that your car is not ready AGAIN.

I understand we all get busy with life & work, but setting the proper expectations and keeping the customer "in the loop" goes a long way.  I rather you say this will take atleast a week, then to say it will be done tomorrow for sure and its not.

I'm a still disturbed by the experience I recieved,  let down after let down.

The dealership works with you to make every transaction easy. From the salesperson to the deal to finance and service.  This dealership is TOP NOTCH. 5 STARS!!!!!

I have purchased 4 vehicles from here: 2012 Honda Accord Coupe ExL V6 | 2013 VW Golf TDI 4 door | 2004 Audi A4 3.0 Quattro | 2008 Yamaha Midnight Warrior,  yes, a motorcycle!  It was traded in to the dealership and now its mine and I love it!!

This dealership is ABSOLUTELY the BEST IN SACRAMENTO!!!

I recommend my friends and family to purchase here.

My sister purchased a Mazda 3.

My co worker purchased a 2014 VW Beetle.

I will be back again!!!!! My friends and family will be back again too!!!!!

Carmen S. | 2014-12-10

Just bought a used car here and have had great service with a few minor issues. Plus they detail my car every time I come in for service - BONUS!!!

Shomari W. | 2014-11-14

Had Michelle (13 jetta) since Oct 2013, and i love the service Vw provides. I will absolutely recommend these cars to anyone who asks. Here at neillo they take really good care of you. Glad I went German...

This review is about the service department. My three year/30 thousand mile free maintenance program ended and I was due for my next service so I thought I'd take it back to the dealership because I had had such a good experience previously. I arrived at 730 am to drop my car off and I had arranged previously to have the shuttle take me to work so I didn't have to wait for the 4 hour long service to be done. During the drop off inspection Roger informed me I had a cracked sidewall in one of my tires. I was glad they noticed as that can be dangerous but was not too happy when he heavily pushed me towards $500 for 4 new tires. I was already going to be paying ~$450 for the service and wasn't about to replace 3 perfectly fine tires that have plenty of life left in them. On top of all of that, my check engine light was on and Roger told me the diagnostic would be $125. If they determined the issue was covered by the emissions warranty (which thank god it was I would later find out) I wouldn't have to pay the diagnostic fee. So basically it's 745 am and Roger wants me to drop $1000 at Niello when I had budgeted $450. I said no thank you to the four new tires, purchased one tire to replace the one with the cracked sidewall and got on the shuttle while crossing my fingers that whatever triggered the check engine light would be covered by the emissions warranty. It took the shuttle an hour to get me to work in Downtown (after two stops in Rancho) and I had to listen to the shuttle driver whine and moan to anther passenger about how the corporate desk life just wasn't for him (amusing considering I'm also twenty something and work as a financial statement auditor for a top accounting firm). Several hours later Roger called: the warranty covered the check engine issue but the part wasn't in stock so they would have to keep my car overnight. Fine. I was in no mood to go back that day. Two hours later Roger calls: they found a minor leak and wanted $400 to fix that. NO THANK YOU. Clearly it wasn't a safety issue because he didn't push it when I declined the work without further explanation.

TLDR: after the free service period ends, they try to nickel and dime you and look for things that need to be fixed just so they can charge you. I guess I should have expected this but I was naively optimistic. I'm never going back.

Mario R. | 2014-10-20

After Niello VW performed a scheduled factory service, I noticed that the tires on my car looked like they were going flat. I checked all four tires with an accurate digital tire pressure gauge. They all measured 26PSI.

When advised of this problem, my car was taken back into the shop and all four tires were inflated to 34PSI, the factory recommended pressure. Always check your tires before leaving Niello VW.

Went to test drive a CC model so I could compare that car to others I was considering as well. Sales guy was nice, brand new and needed training. He had no answers on features. I go inside to ask about leasing options and I get the pressure sell by some guy handing me a form and asking me to fill it out 'how I want the car registered'. I was not there to buy that day and I had made that very clear from the start. When I said I had two other cars I wanted to go test drive he gave me the line "what will it take to get you to buy today'. Not the experience I was hoping for, in fact it's the very experience we all hate when going to buy a car. Then I went to Audi on Auburn Blvd. totally different experience. Great service. Zero pressure. I bought a car same day from them.

Michael M. | 2014-09-03

Sitting here in the Niello dealership I'll never buy a Volkswagen again and especially not from this dealership.  I should be home but I had to bring my car in for the 4th time for the same damn reason.  The warranty sucks!  When the first coil went bad they said usually the other coils go bad too.  But they can only replace one.  So as coil after coil fails I'm subjected to this major inconvenience over and over again.  How asinine is this policy.  What happen to customer service?  And I'm not evening mentioning the fuel pump that went bad OR the fuse panel than melted!!!!!!  And to think I was thinking if getting a Toureg from this same dealer just a couple of weeks ago.  Save yourself the grief and buy anything from anyplace else!

Kristel W. | 2014-08-13

I just bought my new 2015 Golf and the whole experience was over all great! I came in from out of town so that my dad could help me get the deal. I emailed Mark Meyer (internet sales) looking for a specific car in a certain color way and he dealt with me for a good two weeks before I came in.

Anyway, the day of I brought my dad because I don't trust myself to make a deal. Mark graciously put up with my dads demands and they came to an agreement, Mark really wanted to make sure I got the car I wanted and in my means. Then being the girl I am, I went with a totally different color choice and Mark found it and got it for me the next day.

Basically Marks a cool dude and really worked with me to get what I wanted. Email him!

Just to update on my experience at Niello. My salesman called me yesterday morning stating that the person I dealt with wasps the used car manager and his new car manager was very upset by my experience. He offered to tint the windows and have the car shipped to my house 150 miles away rather than have to drive back. However I will no longer so business with Niello in any form due to the rude experience I had wit them. I did however just purchase a new car at Roseville VW with Kent in the internet dept. he was able to give me a much better deal on a higher model VW Jetta for $2000 less overall cost. So I got the premium Jetta with nav that costs 2 grand more. For 2 grand less. No dealer within 500 miles was able to meet that price, every single one I contacted was at least 1500 more. However I did not try to get the same deal with Neillo because of the experience. 2 stars for slightly attempting to make up for it.

ellen c. | 2014-06-11

Omar Dixon was very helpful and diligent in helping us try to locate a car for our daughter.

S. R. | 2014-06-10

This is a solid dealership, Roger Bybee in the service dept. is such a great guy and as honest as they come. I bought my first car here many years ago, a GTI, and that was a good experience. They provide better customer service than Niello BMW does, and I'm not exaggerating. I recommend them for all your VW needs!

John P. | 2014-06-09

Very short with this location-
They desired to charge us $218 to put our vehicle on the lift..nothing more, nothing less

..this was after NV missing our scheduled service time by over 2 hours, And taking our car for a 15 min test drive.

We left with our vehicle shaking more than when we brought it, and with NV making it our issue that; "we cannot move forward with the service without looking under the vehicle...the estimate is $218 to get it on the lift, plus labor.  Then we will talk about what you need for it to be fixxed"

Our vehicle still has a current 100k mile warrantee, as well as Full Century engine+powertrain for more than 2 years..

Never trust what the NV service department "says".   Get a second opinion first-elsewhere

Michelle Y. | 2014-05-05

1. Something shady is going on at this establishment
2. They lie to their customers
3. Sales reps are out to make sales regardless of what your concerns are
4. To sell a car, the car must be present- not being taken out for joy rides by workers  etc.

I called the day before and spoke to a sales rep to make sure the car was going to be there because I was coming from out of town. When I arrived the person I spoke to previously was off and someone named Jamal insisted that he would be able to help me out. I said I was there to see a 2013 CC that was listed online. INSTANTLY he pointed to the car in front of us and said it was that one without a doubt and said he would get the keys. As he raced in, my brother and I walked to the front of the car and noticed it was a 2011 model. So my family and I went off to look for the car ourselves, after 10 minutes of walking around and noticed the car was not on their lot. I noticed Jamal backing out the CC that he insisted was the car I was looking for. I quickly ran over and told him it wasn't the one. That's when he said okay, parked and said he would check on the car I was asking for.

15 minutes later...
Jamal said the car was at the detailing shop and that they called it and it would be back ASAP.

30 minutes later...
Jamal came back and offer my family water. Restated that they called and the car is on it's way and that we could take the car as soon as it arrives. My parents asked a couple more questions about why the car was at the shop and which shop, Jamal declined to answer.

50 minuties later..
I see a young couple racing down the street with the potential car I wanted to purchase come in the drive way. This is when I see their boss waving his hands and yelling at the young man as he races inside the dealership. I walk around to where the car was parked and Jamal said let's take a drive.

I opened the driver side door and poof-  all I smelt was perfume. Jamal had lied. The car was not cleaned/ detailed like he insisted for the past hour.

I took the car for the test drive since it was the car I wanted to buy, but I noticed an additional 1,300 miles on the car!! Jamal apologized and said that they would make things right if I bought the car.  He actually said that wasn't a lot of miles and not to worry.  After my 10 minute test drive the dealership had closed when we got back . Jamal rushed us to go inside, to sign papers. I wanted to discuss with my family if it was right to purchase since we noticed during the car ride more bumpy than usual. Jamal did not leave, instead insisted that we were "stupid" if we did not purchase today.

Jamal said we could discuss numbers inside with his boss. Since the car was covered under warranty I considered it. We tried to negotiate less than 1,000 off the price. Jamel said No. Didn't bother to ask. ( Didn't know he was his own boss) We had to go up 500 for him to consider, but getting a counter 200 off the asking price. The additional mileage was 1,300 miles added to the car at 20 cents a mile  ( this is what Jamal said they charge) = 260 dollars should have been taken off at least not 200.

I did not purchase their car.

The next day I received a text from the lady who I had made the appointment with. She asked why I did not buy the car. I explained to her exactly what I had wrote in this review. Her response was that the car was LOANED to a customer since their car was in the shop being repaired and a miscommunication occurred.( I did not know that the boss would yell at customers because that is what happened when the young man brought it back.)  She asked if I'd considered going back to purchase the car if we did not have to deal with Jamal. I declined and went to another dealership to buy my car.

Went to look into leasing a 2014 Golf. Met a salesman named Ray who was a newbie for sure, but very effective, pleasant and professional. Along the way, we saw a nice used 2013 Touareg, test drove it as well and managed to work with Ray and his sales manager into purchasing the Touareg and leasing the Golf. Two new vehicles in the same day and in under 2 hours, including negotiating a trade-in! Very attentive, courteous and professional sales staff and I thank them all for working on satisfying all of our lease, purchase and trade in demands. These folks are customer focused, in a very friendly and natural way.

We have also had a very awesome experience with the service department as well. We had a couple of due bills for both vehicles, which included further detailing, paint repair on the 2013 Touareg and Bluetooth upgrades on the Golf. We worked with Rebecca from the service department and I must say that you will not find a better example of someone who not only knows their business, but also know and understand customer satisfaction.

I recommend Niello VW without reservation. I can be a grumpy curmudgeon when it comes to car buying and dealing with service departments for sure. These folks have completely changed my attitude about car purchasing and servicing.

Vladimir G. | 2014-03-29

Update 5/8/14: Apparently,  you can get screwed if you do not do your research. Always stand by your trade in value based of private party blue book value. Do not trade in your car for less. Traded in my vehicle for 14k (now I know that Roseville VW would have given at least 17k for my trade in) , they have listed it and resold it for 19k within couple days. And do not listen to their : "we are not making any money with this car".  They will. Roseville VW was more flexible because they are bigger and have more room to give you good deal. Do your research and check couple dealerships when shopping for a car.

I was shopping for a new good MPG vehicle and have been to Maita Toyota,  Niello Audi and finally Niello Volkswagen. What has really stand out about Volkswagen is their customer service. Mark was the one who has helped me and did an excellent job spending as much time as I needed to test drive the vehicle,  answer any questions, negotiating the price,  etc....I did not feel pressured to buy and he did not use all those dirty sales pitch practices/tactics that were used at Toyota and Audi dealerships. I ended up buying a 2013 Jetta TDI because I wanted to buy and not because they made me to. Awesome dealership and awesome people. Yes,  people and not the typical dealership sharks.

Lorraine C. | 2014-03-26

I wish there was a way to give 0 stars, but I had to give at least one. I am so unhappy with them, I wish I never worked with them and instead went to Roseville....This happened to my 3 years ago, where Neillo VW was just jerking me around and I ended up going to Roseville VW. For some stupid reason, I went back to get a new car and have been lied to over and over and over. I still dont have my new car and I dont know if they even paid my other loan off. These guys are a lot of surface help and brush off, but dig deep and you will find their mistakes. And it may cost you.

John B. | 2014-03-17

Great dealer, decent people.  It's not in the best of neighborhoods, but who cares.  They are commited to good service and sales.  I've been a repeat customer now and I'll keep going back.  I haven't had any quirks or bad service to sway my decision.

Nazanin R. | 2014-02-20

If you need to buy a car and you want the best price go here. I bought a Jetta from someone called Omar, he gave me no stupid excuses and was very very very nice. I got an amazing deal!

Cameron M. | 2014-02-18

We were on our way back from Tahoe when we realized our gas tank wouldn't open (thanks to a recent servicing at our local dealership). We were desperate to fix the problem, and called Niello to see if they could help.

Not only were they open to take a look on the Friday of a holiday weekend, but the service manager took a look immediately when we arrived. The fix required grinding a surface on the gas flap mechanism, and they had a technician stop what he was doing to make this simple fix and within a few minutes and sent us back on the road.

And for all of this great service they performed this work free of charge, despite the fact that we won't be coming to them probably ever again thanks to the fact that we live 150 miles away.

If I could, I would buy my next VW from Niello and get service from them. This kind of amazing customer service is really hard to come by in my experience, and certainly worth going out of your way for.

Gaby M. | 2014-01-16

Michael helped me get a 2012 Jetta and he was super friendly and spoke spanish. TD was also a nice guy and I would recommend going here to get your next VW.

D E. | 2013-12-21

Great car buying experience!
We had been shopping for a VW Touareg for awhile until we found one with potential at Niello VW.  We contacted Mike Jones through Niello's website.  He provided us with every detail we could want in a low pressure, up front manner. We came into test drive and found Mike to be very helpful and an expert on the ins-outs of VWs.  Mike (consultant) and Syd (Used Car Manager) gave us a very good deal with little to no haggle.  Cameron, the finance manager, was probably one of the most genuinely happy persons I have come across in a dealership (he really likes working for Niello).  He was able to beat our competitive credit union special APR and made the whole finance process a breeze (my recommendation is to buy GAP insurance from this guy).  Overall, I would definitely comeback here for our next vehicle purchase.

Steven K. | 2013-12-07

Great experience, friendly Service and good deals on great cars. Best sales staff I have work with anywhere.

Jann b. | 2013-11-12

Shawn, Keith, Michael and Cameron are incredible. They listen and never push!! Their combined interest in us and determination to find the right car and financing
made this the best car buying experience.
I have been a Niello customer since 1978 so I know that their service department (Ron and Val) will continue this high level of service beyond the purchase.
Go to Niello VW even if you've never considered a VW.

Kelly I. | 2013-09-20

I am a repeat customer at Niello VW Arden Way and just as the first experience was amazing... my second was just as incredible! I loved my 2012 Jetta SE so much after being only 2 years into my 3 year lease that I converted my lease to a purchase TODAY!  From the service department I've encountered for scheduled maintenance during the last couple of years to the helpful/friendly/non-pushy salesman Matt and Finance guy TD, today... I have nothing but props for this dealership and its staff. They took the sting out of waiting to complete the deal and washed/detailed AND then filled my car up before I left.  I will wholeheartedly refer all my friends and family to Niello!

Andrew W. | 2013-08-31

Best car buying experience period.
Go see Darcee Bramlette she is wonderful. The entire team is great, they will change your mind about car buying.

Randee B. | 2013-08-19

I just purchased my first VW, a Jetta TDI, here last week.

This was probably the best car buying experience I've ever had.  The sales transaction went smoothly, Keith was able to get me out of my ugly former lease and into something shorter and more affordable.  Finance went smoothly, with no upselling tactics, it was just an overall GREAT experience.

Melinda B. | 2013-08-18

I just bought my first newest car, I've ever had at Niello Volkswagen. It's a 2012 Chrysler 200. I've been looking for that exact car for some time. My experience overall was pretty positive with them. My salesman was Ray Chacon. I couldn't believe he was only 21. He was so composed and helpful. He did everything he could to make sure I got he car for what I wanted. Actually, my brother did all the haggling. Ray never lost his cool, he was very cheerful & professional about his job. Even though my nephews were being kinda bratty. One in particular. I really enjoyed the experience, I didn't find it to be too stressful. And it was totally because of Ray. He sat with me and endured my somewhat restless nephews while we waited for my brother to go get my insurance card. It took about an hour. He's just a really genuinely nice guy. I'm really happy with the deal I got. I love my car. I would totally buy from both Niello & Ray again, thanx Ray

Getting Audi painted here. Very professional, customer oriented collision center. Kept me up to date and answered my questions then welcomed more. Now I remember why I stick to VW and Audi.
Damn what's taking my car so long?? It's been almost two weeks plus one.  Please please let it be perfect so I won't bitch about the length for the paint job

Service department here is great!  Especially Ron. Really goes above and beyond with customer service!

Anthony Z. | 2013-07-27

Bought a GTI here a few months back. Had a decent experience with sales. Finance was great, not pushy on on extras at all. Now the service department, 5 stars. The service advisors are great, and turnaround times are good. They will listen and test every little thing. Love em!

This review is for the service department.

I am originally from Southern California and purchased my car at a VW dealership down there some five years ago.  Upon moving to Sacramento about two years ago, I was in search for a VW dealership to service my car since it was still under limited warranty (gotta take advantage of that!).  During the time that my car was under limited warranty and even now after, I have always received excellent customer service from this service department.  From the service consultant, to the service technicians, to the service porters walking by, to the cashiers at their desks, to the shuttle driver---everyone was very courteous, made eye-contact, and warmly greeted me.  For those that I was able to sit down with, such as service consultant Roger and shuttle driver Steve, I enjoyed how personable they were in sharing about their children, their good experiences working at Niello, facts about Sacramento, and asking about my law school studies.  Roger also did not just direct me to the waiting room, but walked me over there and made a cup of coffee for me.  Steve, after dropping me back off at the dealership to get my car, cheerfully called out how nice my car was.  My experiences with the service department alone make me want to come back to Niello VW to purchase my future car.

The cost of basic service (i.e. brake pad replacements, etc.) is on average about $50 more than outside auto shops.  However, the courtesy hand car wash, courtesy shuttle service, and updates/free replacements on recalled items make the additional cost worth it.

Jeff R. | 2013-06-20

I have purchased 2 cars from this dealership and have had every required maintenance on those cars performed in their service department.  They are very efficient at scheduling appointments and they wash your car after every service.  They offer shuttle service for short distances and a rental car location is conveniently across the street if you need to rent.  You should be prepared to leave your car their the entire day if you are having a major service performed but you cannot be the attentive service and quality of work.

while shopping for a Jetta wagon tdi for our son, we send a price quote to several dealerships. Niello had made us a fair offer, so we sat an appointment with the internet manager and had our son flown from L.A. to pick up his new car.
So we picked him up and drove to the dealership, they had the vehicle ready, took him on a test drive and ran his credit information.
The internet manager came back 2 minutes later to inform us that the manager on duty will not honor the price quote. He told us that the managment  beat the staff up to give good quotes and they don't stand behind it ones the client is at the store :(
we thanked him for his time and left.
tried to contact the dealer principle , general manager and the general sales manager.
no one took a minute of their valuable time to get back with us. after all we are out $385 cost of the flight to Sacramento.
we sent emails and phone messages to Mr. Niello, the G.M and the G.S.M. no one ever got back with us.
later, I made a contact with a sales manager who informed me the manager that turned down the internet quote was the general sales manager. and that was a final decision.
needless to say we called around and found our son the same car in walnut creek for the same price.
will not recommend Niello VW
bad dealer to do business with, they will not stand behind their own written offers

I knew what I wanted when I walked on the lot as they only had one in stock. The sales person was very friendly and helped me understand all the features of the car even after I closed the purchase he was helping me. Jamal and the Sales manager worked for a few hours to get me the best deal with a good maintenance plan. Everybody there was in a very good mood and I feel I got a great deal on my car.

Margie S. | 2013-04-25

This by far is the VERY BEST dealership that I have ever dealt with! I worked with Danny and he was amazing and delivered all that was promised! I was amazed that I was treated well, laughed and did my deal/trade in all in three hours... and that includes test drive/picking out my new car! The finance dept. was great and quick... all in all a very happy experience!! I can't say enough great things about this dealership/staff!!!!!!

This review is for Josh.

I am currently looking for my first car and was extremely crunched for time, for what takes weeks I had to compress down to two days for my mother was only in town for the weekend. I'm from the East Bay, while she was staying with a friend in the Sac area. I researched up and down the Bay Area for a vehicle so I was a bit irritated when my mother told me to completely move my search to Sacramento/Elk Grove/Roseville/Fairfield/Davis etc. We came to Niello Volkswagen on Satuday afternoon after being followed, annoyed, and harrassed at Roseville Auto Maill (overpriced ass dealerships). Josh helped us as we walked through the lot and I spotted a 2005 Acura TSX. It was a little out of my mother's price range, but I am luckily blessed enough to have a mother who has the means to still purchase a car that price. My mom was so overwhlemed (you know the whole deal with a parent and the 10 on 2 worry they put on their child with the whole "first car and there's the slight possibility you will die" situation when in acutality it is not that big of a deal, but it's not our money so we can't say anything), and I think Josh could read that on her face. He knew I liked the Acura, so we did schedule a test drive for Sunday morning (yesterday) when they opened. We did not come, but I left Josh a voicemail letting him know that we were not standing him up, that we wished to take a search a bit further out before we made a final decision, just in case we did find something a bit more within her price range.

I believe he was busy at the time, and when he called back I was not near my phone, so we did play phone tag for a couple of hours. My mother and I are learning towards a different car at a different dealer, and when I voiced that to Josh he completely understood, and reassured me that if my mother changed her mind, the Acura was still on the table for us to purchase and he was willing to work with us in any way he could because he knew my mom was in from out of town and I from the East Bay. Absolutely no shoving the deal down our throats, no putting down other dealerships, it acutally felt really nice because everyone this weekend kept reiterating to me how much of a shitshow car buying is, & Josh made the experience alot less nervewracking (I think that's how you spell it).

So if you ever read this, thank you so much for all of your help. If I even meet anyone in need of a car in that area, hell anyone looking for a car period, I'm sending them this way.

Hollywood C. | 2013-04-13

I personally wouldn't buy a car from here, new or used. This dealership seems to be money hungry and overprice their vehicles. I only come here for my oil changes and if I need to buy some parts. I have a membership discounted card so that's a pro about this place. Also, if you're getting an oil change, the average wait is 90 minutes.

T W. | 2013-03-29

I purchased a car on 3/8/2013.  The experience at the dealership that day was great.  Everyone was happy about getting me fixed up in a new car, making the process easy, and having fun.   I thought this was the easiest car buying experience I have ever had!

I should have known that it was to good to be true.  Niello Volkswagon did not pay off my trade-in and I had the payment for my old card deducted out of my account today.  Immediately, I called the dealership to figure out what was going on.  Monica assisted in doing some research and discovered that Niello did not ever have the intent of paying the bank who my loan was through.  They instead were going to write a check to my mother.  MY MOTHER??

I asked that we take care of the situation immediately.  The bank is open on Saturday and I could come down to Niello and we could resolve the situation.  However I was told by Monica that all the Managers who could sign for a check were gone for the weekend.  I understand it is a holiday weekend, but when someone drops the ball they need to pick it up and fix the situation.   Monica said she would pass me to a manager.  Then Monica got back on the phone and restated that nothing could be done til Monday.  I let her know that I still wanted to talk to a manager, four minutes later, a manager got on the phone.  He knew I was upset and frustrated and kept the conversation short.  Stating that he couldn't do anything, and he could sign a check for me but that it wouldn't be valid.   Awesome, I enjoy when someone decides that they are going to treat me like a child.

I believe that they are policies in place that could fix this situation.   This has been one of the most disheartening experiences for me.

When I look at your core values I am saddened that Niello can pick and choose which values they want to demonstrate and at what times.  I do not feel that I was valued and definitely not with enthusiasm.

Our Core Values
We are a team
We respect each other
We encourage self-improvement
We hold high expectations
We embrace change
We enthusiastically value our customer
We support our community

Niello's perception that this is no big deal and it was a small mistake is MY REALITY and it is a big mistake costing me money and stress.

They say one thing, but do another.

Alex M. | 2013-03-19

Went in to get a cabin air filter after checking the price on their website. They are more expensive here than online. But their customer service is fine.

Ashley G. | 2013-03-13

This dealership is the worst, don't bring your car in for serving. Take your car somewhere else. I took my car in for major service and end up paying 500+ to keep my Beetle 2000 running. Few weeks later my car breaks down on the freeway. I went to this other car place and they said my plugs need replacing. I just paid 500+ dollars for this not to happen. I went back to this dealership and they told me would have to pay 500 more dollars to have it fix when they should have already have done this.

Robert M. | 2013-01-26

Today, my wife and I bought a certified 2012 VW Jetta TDI from Niello VW but only because the sales and finance team did everything to get us the very best deal we could not refuse! We already go to Niello VW to get our regular car maintenance done, and the service department team is great, especially Dana. Now I know the great customer service extends to the sales and finance department too! Thanks Rey, Alonzo, & TD!!! Niello VW will always have my business because of the great experience I had today!

Bethany R. | 2012-12-20

I just had my first experience with the Niello VW sales department, and I literally cannot think of a way they could have possibly been better. My experience was absolutely fantastic!

After a highly stressful experience with my old car suddenly breaking down on me, I found myself unexpectedly in the market for a car right before Christmas. Thinking I wouldn't have any real options without a significant down payment saved up, I didn't hold out much hope of finding a car in my limited and completely last-minute budget. To my utter and pleasant surprise, the staff at Niello had me in a very well-priced, low-mileage 2012 Jetta with a fantastic loan, low interest and an extended warranty by the end of the day.

My husband and I made an appointment with salesperson Ray Chacon, who was absolutely wonderful to work with. We explained our situation, and that we were in a hurry (my husband had to leave for work), so Ray wasted no time in showing us exactly what we wanted. He included a number of options in our price range, and I did not feel pressured at any point to buy beyond my comfort level. He kept our search quick and had ZERO qualities I fear in a car salesman! Once we found a car we liked, he reviewed the Carfax with us, we took a quick test drive, and set to work on our loan papers. He explained Niello's fantastic warranty, which he was sure to note included repairs for issues we had experienced with our last car (a 2003 Jetta that had seen a lot of mileage and a lot of better days - NOT something I bought from Niello, LOL), so I was immediately put at ease that our new car would not be a problem. Again, I can't emphasize enough how friendly and wonderful Ray was throughout the process - I'd come back for the experience of buying a car without a pushy aggressive salesperson alone!

T.D., the finance person, was also wonderful. He worked very quickly and was able to get us monthly payments that were $200 less than the estimates we originally had for the car! This is with a down payment I thought would get me laughed out of the building! He included an extended warranty that is an absolute dream, and was able to get our interest rate super low as a result. I honestly don't know that I've ever gone into a car dealership with my notes and requirements for the sale on paper, and walked out with a deal that didn't just exceed what I wanted, but exceeded it significantly!

Throughout the entire process, we were treated to the same excellent and friendly customer service I have experienced when going to Niello for service on my old cars. Ray and other members of the sales staff sat and chatted with us while we waited on the lender to approve our paperwork. Whether you're in for a $40 service or a new car, the staff treats everyone very well. They hustled through the process for us, and my husband got to work on time. All in all, I walked away with an excellent deal that exceeded my wildest expectations and a shiny new car. I would recommend Niello to anyone in the market for a VW!

Jordan H. | 2012-11-24

As a first time buyer, I was nervous about receiving the help I needed. I can say I had nothing to worry about when it came to customer service at Niello. They are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. They were able to help me find the best fit for me in style, efficiency and warranty while staying within a reasonable budget. I would definitely recommend Niello.

I have a VW lease.  I brought my vehicle in for the 10,000 mile service.  I dropped the vehicle off and was given a ride back to my office.   The vehicle was ready to be picked up by 3pm.  I picked the vehicle up and was on my way in less than 10 minutes.   They fixed everything that we talked about and even an item that was on the Reall list.  Ron Elliot the service consultant was first class all the way.    The only comment I have to make is the guy driving the shuttle van seemed confused he must have been new.   The shuttle schedule stated that it leaves at 9 and he was bouncing around.  I had to ask him twice if we were leaving and he said yes and did I have my documents ( LOL!!!) to get on his crappy van.  At about 9:15 one of the Managers noticed that he was lagging and had the detail guy drive me. ( Thats what I call Service!!!)

I only go to niello to get my oil changed with the coupons they send me via email (synthetic oil changes for passats are pricey!). The last three times I've taken it in (always just for an oil change) something new is broken that they seem to forget to tell me about yet I find out right after driving away. This time my left rear window stopped working (even though it was working when I brought it in and they verified this through the visual inspections) but as I was driving an hour after my service, I tried rolling it down and it won't function. The last time it was the belly shield (not mounted back on properly) and the next day after my service I was driving and the front of the shield came down and was ripped up and broken by the pavement. I had to pull over and try to get under my car and push whatever was left of it back up so it wouldn't scrape on the ground. The time before that my brake light went out literally as i was driving off the niello lot. The only reason I even knew was because my boyfriend had dropped me off so I could pick up my car and as he was following me in his vehicle out of the parking lot he noticed it. The first time with the headlight I was irritated that I would have to go back but I brushed it off because I figured it was a one time mistake. The second time with the belly shield (which is still broken) I told myself that it probably wasn't niello's fault but it maybe just broke on it's own. But now after the window thing, I don't trust the service at niello. If everytime I bring my car in for a repair, another thing gets broken, then what's the point?
Oh and those coupons they send you are just a way to bring you in so that they can tell you that you NEED a bunch of repairs. They do that to me every time without fail but then I go and get a second opinion from a trusted mechanic that I know and he tells me otherwise.
This place is crooked when it comes to repairs.

Pta H. | 2012-10-10

Well they have been my dealership for many, many years and after some struggles they have always taken good care of me.  I got a puncture in the tire of my Beetle and I live far away from their location.  I spoke with Dana on the phone and she offered good advice and I had my car towed into their location.  I did not have an appointment but they squeezed me in and I was out of there in about an hour and it was one of those Moday holidays for most folks so the place was packed.  Thank you Dana!  Good friends at Niello and Great Service!
As for the negative reviews on this site and especially to Debi B. who says they only offered her $100 off the asking price....she forgot to read her own review where she states that the price was $14888 and they offered it to her for $12500  the difference there is a far cry from $100.  That is $2388 off the price.
I have purchase 3 Beetles from Niello and they have ALWAYS given me the best price and they will work with you until an agreement is reached that benefits everyone concerned.  But with confidence, they deserve it!

Priscilla V. | 2012-10-07

I had an awesome experience here! I worked with the internet manager Tammie Snyder thru the whole process. She didn't make me feel pressured and was straight up about what she could and couldn't do. I ended up getting a good deal on my car. I love the niello family!

JoAnn N. | 2012-09-04

I purchased a 2013 VW Passat TDI from Niello VW and am very pleased with my experience. I traveled from Reno to Sacramento based on an Internet ad and brief conversation I had with Tammy Snyder. When I arrived they were still cleaning the car I found on the Internet when I discovered there was an error on their website. The model I wanted showed navigation, but the actual car with that VIN did not have it. I thought that I was going to be "sold" on a more expensive car and had been "duped" into driving 2 hours with the idea I would agree to the higher price, but that was not the case. Tammy immediately told me that she would make this right and get me into the trim I wanted for the price quoted on the Internet. She found one with everything I wanted and more and reduced the sale amount to $29290. I am very impressed with the integrity of Tammy and everyone else at Niello VW. The whole experience was very pleasant and I love my car!!!  I would definitely recommend buying a car there. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is the mistake on the Internet.

Rachel M. | 2012-07-24

Hmmm, things started out great but crashed at the very end.

My friend and I came here to test drive one of the new Volkswagen 2012 Beetles.  My friend currently has a used 1999, so he wanted to see the differences as well as see what the car felt like on the road.

The salesman that was helping us was named Andrew, and at first he was cool and laid back and didn't seem too pushy.  He was actually talking to us like any other friend.  He showed my friend the new features of the car for a few minutes (interior, controls, engine, trunk, etc.) and then finally suggested that we test drive it.  He told us that the car needed gas, so we all got in and drove across the street to the gas station.  He actually offered to buy us something from inside (O_O).  We declined, but wow this guy was pushing it.  After we came back to the dealership, my friend told Andrew that he would think about it.

Andrew kept calling my friend for at least a month before finally getting the message that he was no longer interested in the car.  I understand calling maybe a couple of days the following week to check up, but a MONTH?!  That's a little over the top and pushy.  It could almost be considered harassment.  It got to the point where my friend was no longer answering his calls and yet Andrew still continued to call.  He even tried calling on a blocked number to get my friend to pick up the call!  Not cool!  It was pretty pathetic and desperate acts to get someone to buy a car.  We will NOT be back for another test drive!

Debi B. | 2012-07-13

I went to Niello to look at a VW Beetle that my daughter and I saw on Internet.  I admit I was not into actually buying unless it was a good price. The car was listed for $14888.  I expected back and forth on price.  Here's what I got.  I offered $10700.  They said they could not do that (I knew that)....the gal there then said, well howabout half way at $12500....I said what about 11700.  She came back saying that they would only go $100 dollars off the asking price!!!!!! And she THANKED ME FOR COMING IN!!!    REALLY
That was it!   - so don't go here unless you EXPECT to pay FULL PRICE!   Hell, they were only willing to give a whole$100 off!!!  Coulda gone to McD's for that!!
If I could give them a minus zero woulda done that...but as it is I gave them a whole 1!  Kind of like they gave me!
Oh, and I plan on posting this on FB to all my LC and Sun City friends.

Casey C. | 2012-06-09

Thanks Bill, Dominick, Keith and Rachelle for the great buying experience. Just when we thought you may have been dragging your feet to find us the car we wanted, you came through in a big way. I would purchase another vehicle from Niello again and would recommend all prospective VW buyers to do the same.

Kara S. | 2012-04-02

The sales man jumped us as soon as we rolled on scene. He was young and didn't seem to understand that going from a Audi, I didn't want a standard, cloth interior teenager car. He just kept trying to convince me they are the same. Okay, obviously very similar, if not the same in some ways, engine. But I was looking for the perks and the amenities in a car. Not sure why this kid didn't get that. Husband and I left pretty promptly.

Ryan C. | 2012-01-25

The Sales manager Sid called me to apologize for my experience and was very pleasant on the phone.  He offered to do whatever it took to correct the situation.  Had I dealt with him on the first occasion I think things would have worked out much differently.

Considering that I am 1.5 hours away from their location I decided not to risk the drive out after my first experience and bought a car locally,  but after talking to Sid and reading the reviews of other customers that have done business here I believe my incident may have been outside of their normal level of service and decided to change my rating to a 3 star because all businesses should be afforded an occasional slip up.

Megan B. | 2012-01-09

Took my 06 VW Jetta here for an oil change.  Their facility is clean and the staff are very welcoming.  Since I didn't want to stick around I used their complimentary shuttle service to be taken back to my house.  The old man who is the driver is so sweet I enjoyed talking with him.  I highly recommend NIELLO.  Also, this particular dealership sponsors programs for kids and young adults and helps the community which is a great plus!

David G. | 2011-12-22

I've been a customer since 1968. Although I have seen personnel come and go, the consistency of quality in the people and their service has never changed. Fair prices, quality work and an ethic of customer satisfaction that never changes.

Darcey K. | 2011-12-10

I just bought my 2011 Black Honda Fit here and left feeling completely valid in my purchase. Ralph Allen and Kevin Powell were very patient with my friend and mines demands. Great customer service and I'm super stoked about the price I got on this Base Fit...  Its almost exactly what I've been looking for for weeks.

THANKS guys!!

Emily E. | 2011-10-24

Good quality service for when you need to go to the dealership for service.  Prices are high but you get what you pay for.

Linda G. | 2011-10-07

I had a great experience buying my VW Sport wagon last year at Niello. I've had nothing but excellent service ever since. The Service Department is outstanding. Always efficient, friendly and thorough (the free coffee and complimentary car wash don't hurt).

katie p. | 2011-10-05

I had a very pleasant experience at Niello Volkwagen. Phillip Najera was my salesperson and he really went out of his way to earn my business. I was very impressed with his follow up even after the purchase was complete. Overall, I was very impressed!

Lucky L. | 2011-08-14

Great place! Customer service is above and beyond! If you ever want entertainment..  just ask for KEVIN POWELL in the Internet department! He sings for his customers!!  I'm sure he would be more than accommodating just ask! He's a riot!

A Z. | 2011-05-24

Would highly recommend Niello VW in Sacramento, CA.  Very easy deal, quick and painless.  Ask for Larry Grammer.

Sasha F. | 2011-04-26

I called early Saturday morning to see if a car I was looking at online was still in stock and spoke with Kevin.  Kevin told me yes and I could have it at my requested price if I was there by 1pm.  I hurried down there and got the car I had hoped for.  Kevin made the process very pleasant and casual, not the usual pressure I expected.

Although he was an excellent sales person and the finance dept was swell as well, my only complaint is that on my way home my oil indicator came on telling me I had less than a quart of oil in my car.  In a panic I pulled over, google mapped a car parts store and bought some oil.  I'm sure this was a simple mistake but it's the little things that count.  I drove 2 hours to get the car and 2 hours home; I wish the dealership had made sure I had a full tank of gas, oil and a detail.  I was left with about 3/4 of gas, 1 qt of oil and I'm not sure if the car was detailed before I left with it.

Overall, I enjoyed my experience and Kevin was kind enough to throw in a free coffee cup too!

Ritesh M. | 2011-03-14

Dealership sales departments are hit or miss probably due to the turnover rates, but the service department is what truly keeps you coming back for business and where you want to develop positive relationships.

I've only been here for service and had nothing but great service at Niello and the staff is more than accommodating.  I'm very particular about my car and dont want the free wash, etc.   If you're waiting on your car, their lounge is great with Directv, free wireless, free gourmet coffee options and free bottled water. Sometimes I check on prices of parts while I wait and the Parts dept staff - particularly the Parts specialist Mike - is super patient and more than eager to help you get the information you need including suggesting other options.

When your car's repair or service is complete they are very thorough in explaining what work was done and don't pressure you at all when they suggest what items you might need in the future.

I always deal with Service Rep Louie and he always goes the extra mile. I once was asking about some spots that looked like rust on my rear bumper of my 4 year old VW. Not only did Louie explain to me how I could get rid of it - turned out to be rail dust - he actually told me to wait while he went and grabbed some detailing items and a claybar and then proceeded to clean the spots for me. Great service!

Nick P. | 2011-02-28

Considering this place deals in the inherently miserable of task car purchasing/fixing, they really do an admirable job of things

Fast, friendly to a fault, efficient, and pleasant, from sales to service and everyone in between, the classic Niello experience.

Almost everyone in my extended family has purchased from a Niello family dealership and I see no reason to change that now.

Grace L. | 2011-02-24

Word of mouth is the most powerful method of marketing. The difference between a happy or not customer is:  " the experience".  The "customer care" that I have received from Service Consultant Dana Ross since I purchased my VW Eos  in 2008  has been: Exceptional, Professional Dana understands because she listens, and her follow through as well as following -up a few days later- is better than it gets....... because it matters. And for that: I would never take my VW anywhere else than to Niello VW Service Consultant Dana Ross!!! Thank you for always taking care of my EOS.

Caitlin S. | 2010-11-11

Was doing a favor for my husband and took his car in to Niello this morning. They were super accommodating. I was able to change the time of my appointment with no hassle and the women who helped me in the service area was very nice.

I waited at the dealership while they worked on the car. It was a really nice waiting area. They offered free bottles of water, hot cocoa, tea, coffee, internet access and plenty of chairs. They had a large screen tv tuned to channel 3, snacks and candy for sale and clean, private bathrooms. They also seemed to offer shuttle service to Arden Mall and downtown(?) if you're not into waiting at the dealership. I thought it was a pretty sweet deal.

When the work was done, they came and told me and answered my last-minute questions. They even warned me about a traffic jam on the main artery next to the dealership before I left.

Corey P. | 2010-09-13

Dropped my mom's car off here once for service.  I found them to be prompt, friendly and fast - just like every Niello dealership in the area.

If I was in the market for a V-Dub, this would be the place.

Katy L. | 2010-07-07

A couple of problems.

First, when I was car shopping last year for a specific car, the sales man was condescending and ridiculous. He pretended to keep forgetting what I was searching for, and once he finally admitted that they didn't have the car, or anything like it, he refused to stop trying to pressure me into buying the car that I already had, in a different color (I had mentioned I liked the white one...) I'm all for car salesman games, but he was embarrassing, I've never run into anything like him before or since that encounter.

Second, our GLI has been in there a few times, and each time it has been a battle with the service department about what it needs/costs. Most recently they told us the wrong price over the phone, and then charged an additional $20 when we arrived, only to laugh in our face about to "mix up". No, service man, it's not funny that you messed up.

Lastly, we took the car into another shop to have the a/c looked at. When we took it to Niello for the same evaluation, Niello came up with a $2,000 estimate, compared to a couple hundred from the previous shop. Niello again laughed and said we'd "be back" to fix that AC.

No Niello, we won't be back, we will drive it 45 minutes out of the way before we travel down the road to you again.

I purchased a Used Volkswagen Passat. I gave it a good look over but wanted "checked out" by the pros as well as an oil change. Living in Roseville, Roseville Volkswagen seemed liked the logical choice, but after reading all the negative reviews of the service department I decided to pass the Automall and drive to Arden Way. I was very pleased by the knowledge and professionalism of my service Advisor Louie D. They earned a customer for life.

I just bought my 2010 CC there. I have been working with Leland for over a month and not once did he drop the ball. What an amazing group. I have really shopped around all the dealers while looking for the right car. Niello is amazing, but most importantly Leland is amazing. I completely recommend seeing him, I don't know if I would buy a car from anyone else!

Leland, if you see this, my girlfriend still owes you the cookies haha!

Until 2 years ago I had no problem with them but when I took my new beetle in with 15K on it to have the outside temp sensor wire reconnected, a $15 repair (which had been done previously but had again become disconnected) I was presented with recommended repairs totaling more than $1500. I said I would think about it. 2 years later the car runs fine and I have not been back

I purchased a certified 2006 VW GTI at this dealership in March. The reason for my review is frustration with post sale care. The day of the purchase,  the day went well with my salesperson, Zach. He was friendly and other than allowing an overly short test drive, did everything efficiently and to my satisfaction. When I both my car, there was only one license plate on the vehicle. I asked for a second one and was told that it would be taken care of and I would get it in the mail. Come July and three correspondences later (two by email and one by phone), nothing. I keep being reassured that I will get it but nothing happens. And I keep getting annoying emails from them professing how good their customer care is. Was on day one, not so since.

I received a nice email from a representative of Niello soon after I took an online survey of my latest experience with their service department.  He was understanding, said he would be addressing the issue, and offered to refund me the difference between an oil change and the unnecessary service (about $35).  He asked for my address to send me a refund check.  After responding to his query with my address, I waited, and waited, and waited, and emailed him again to inquire (and give my address again) and waited, and waited.

Sad that it took Niello over a month to refund my money (because first they sent the check to the wrong address, though I'd emailed them the correct address, twice).  Glad to have the $34.07 back in my purse.

Took the 98 Beetle in to replace the window switches - broke the switch and the window was stuck in the open position.  Drat!  Well, the parts prices are outrageous, but Jason provided great service - and looking foward to a car with working parts!  They helped us a year ago when we couln't figure out the codes to the radio.  Very helpful.

Haven't been back in 4+ years.  Don't trust their service department.  They are shady characters and oversell services you don't even need.

Go to Lasher VW service downtown.  They will treat you with respect and won't recommend something unless you really need it...

Overall, Niello is my dealership. I actually purchased my '05 Jetta in Roseville, but refuse to drive 45 minutes for a simple oil change. Anyways, out of all times I've been there, only on 2 occasions I was extremely dissatisfied. Jennifer Pitt is the worse employee at the service department ever. Seriously. The first time I got her, I only had a simple oil change and I wanted to make sure I was getting what I paid for. (And you know what, I may be a chick and may not be a professional on cars, but I know my car and if I had the time to do things myself, I would. It is a fairly new car and I want the best service with manufactured parts. When I run out of money, I'll invest more time into dealing with my car troubles on my own.) Dude, I asked her a simple question and she had this condescending attitude like I was dumb and she knew everything because she worked in that department. I told her I was waiting that day and told me it wouldn't take longer than and hour and a half. I waited over 3 hours for a simple oil change and I got there early before 8am. Everyone who came after me got their cars first and when I asked her about it, she just kept assuring me that everything was fine and that they probably took my car for a test drive and a quick wash. When I finally got my car back, the mileage was exactly the same and my car was as dirty as when I first brought it in. So seriously, she was a f* liar. I complained and got a proper apology from the manager, but still, I want that chick fired. The next time I got her, she had the same snooty attitude when I complained that my heater was blowing out cold air. She didn't do anything about it and just made me wait with no notice or call. I refused to wait that day so I left. She took hours with my car and said she would call as soon as she found something out. I had to call several times with "they're still working on it." Maybe about the third time I called, she goes, "oh yeah, I was going to call you. Your car is done." I would have socked her in the nose if I could, but we can't have me getting arrest for assault or anything now could we. From now on, I request another associate because I cannot work with her. She is so unprofessional and she does not care about her clients. She makes personal calls during business hours while people are waiting and never keeps a client updated on the status of their vehicle. Trust me, do you want someone like that to help you? I sure as hell don't. Everyone else is awesome. I especially like Louie and Rebeka. They are the two best in that department. The opposite of Jennifer. If you do choose to go get service, (Cause I know there is a lack of other dealerships) go to anyone but her.

I bought my first car (2002 Jetta GLS) from Niello in 2004.  The entire experience was painless.  The sales guy was accommodating, did not pressure us, and he was funny.

I took my car for every service after that.  The service department is FANTASTIC.  I have made friends with some of the employees there.  They are friendly.  Chris, Dana, Diane, Jennifer and Jeremy are awesome.  The service done is fast.  They actually -care- about the issues you are having, and they are totally honest about any situation you and your car might be in.  My car always comes back clean.  I have never gotten the notorious car service run around.  They remember my friends and family.  I could go on and on about how great Niello VW is.

I have even had body work performed on the Jetta, and it was fabulous, the car looked new!  The service body work did not take long, either.

Niello VW bends over backwards to make their customers happy.

I no longer have the Jetta, but I purchased a 2007 Rabbit in February.  After poor experiences from VW dealers in the Bay Area (I live in San Francisco), I still return to Sacramento to get my car serviced at Niello Volkswagen.

UPDATE:  I was in an accident a few months ago.  I took my car to Niello Collision.  My car came back better than when I received it new.  The experience was simple, fast and painless.

I bought my car from here 5 years ago and I have recently been so impressed by the customer service I received, I wanted to write about it.

The reason I gave 4 stars is because 5 years ago Mike in finance convinced me to buy the CalTex coating they offer to prevent stains on/in your car.  He convinced me that I could not live without it, that EVERYTHING was I bought it...

Fast forward 4 years later, I submitted a claim for sap that had fallen on the hood of my car.  Big shocker...they denied my claim and said I had a "lesser coverage" than the issue I was complaining about.

I wrote a letter to Justin Watts, Sales Manager, who called me the day he received my letter to tell me that they would do anything they could to help me get the issue resolved.

There were a few things back and forth, but needless to say, Niello took car of the problem and I could not be happier.

Long story short:  DO NOT BUY THE CALTEX...but the customer service is EXCELLENT!
