Reviews on Palm Springs Kia

This maybe the worst dealership I had the pleasure of dealing with.. Guadalupe seriously would not answer a question.  She would do a run round... No I want an answer and don't want a run around. At times her questions or comments made little to no senses. At times no one actually would answer the emails.   I highly suggest you re-staff the internet department. There cost you sales.
. I went to the another Kia dealer and ended up purchasing a vehicle from them.  Palm Springs Kia missed this sale. I was motivated to buy and with the right incentives/price I would have.     Very poor job but from your reviews I guess that would should be expected.

The service department is incompetent.  My bad experiences with them are too numerous to detail.  But I will never buy another car there again.  The car purchase experience was also very disappointing.

I filled out an application online and made an appointment to come in and speak with Guadalupe about an auto loan. When I got to the dealership I was told that that Guadalupe had gone home, and the salesperson I talked to was not  interested in pulling up my paperwork or assisting me so I walked out. I went to the Toyota dealer and ended up purchasing a vehicle from them.  Palm Springs Kia missed this sale. I was motivated to buy and had a blank money order for 3k in my purse.

The Salesman who sold me my Kia Forte EX is Mike Acosta and he is absolutely wonderful.  Very knowledgeable and professional.  He is superb in my humble opinion.  What I had hoped to be a tremendous experience turned out to be a nightmare in dealing with Ty Thoms the Contract Person.  I was quoted a trade in price and price for the new car less trade in,.  I was excited after being at the Dealership a couple of hours.  I did not notice until I got home that night that several add on's were put onto the purchase agreement which all were listed as "Optional" that came to a sizeable amount of money.  One of the items was KARR SECURITY SYSTEM which according to articles on the Net is a "rip-off" that dealers add on that you don't need.  The car already has a factory installed SECURITY SYSTEM.  The other item also listed as Optional is RESISTALL APPEARNACE PACKAGE.  The car already has a protective coating put on at the Factory.  Here again, another inflated option that was not necessary.  I will never buy another car from Palm Springs Kia located in Cathedral City.

We just bought the Kia Soul a few months ago! Ralph & Tylon were so awesome!! Ralph went above and beyond to take care of our family last night. Tylon was so chill and friendly.. he's hilarious too! It was a great experience from beginning to end and as far as I can tell, I will never hesitate to spread the good word about the team at Kia of PS. FYI - We Applied and waited for an answer in the comfort of our own home! Ralph called us in when it was getting time to sign the papers. I brought in all our paperwork, he finalized the stuff, we signed and drove away. It was a fast, no stress deal and we are so greatly blessed!

Parts and service department are useless.

Parts department has no clue about basic parts.  I was a parts manager for Mitsubishi for a decade and would not trust any info I get from the parts dept here.

Service did not provide service.  Ive asked basic questions on 2 different vehicles, to which no one knew the answer, nor did they want to help find the answer.  Basic questions were AC Freon capacity and how to check trans fluid since there is no dipstick on a Soul or Sportage.

Worsed Experience! Didn't Like How They Didn't Try Helping Us Getting Into The Car That I Wanted! With A Lil Effort And Them Wanting To Sell They Could If Got Me Into 2015 Pearl White Optima I Wanted But They Didn't, What They Gave Me Was A Hard Time, And Waisted My Time As Well!! That Same Day I Got The Car That I Wanted At A Different Kia!! I Highly Want To Recommend San Benardinos Kia!! That's Were I Got My Car!!! Same Day!!

My wife and I saw a vehicle we really liked so we went in to try and get it.  We were completely ignored as we walked around the vehicle, then walked around inside the showroom.  I have never experienced this in my life, I guess we didn't have the right look.  We ended up finding Moss Bros in Moreno Valley and drove away in a Challenger.

From Excellence to Disbelief........

Ten days ago my husband and I had a very pleasant experience with Janelle at the Kia dealership in Palm Springs. Though we were denied the deal that we were hoping to get for a new Kia Soul, we had resigned ourselves to the fact that we needed to work on our credit before we could get into a new car this year. Janelle was kind, professional and caring and we planned on asking for her again in the future.

On 7/27/14 we received a phone call from Lupe Villegas, another dealer at Kia and she told us that if we came down to the dealership she would get us into a new car. She said "There are different managers here on the weekend and if you come now I can get you a deal." She explained that there was a "SALE" happening "This weekend only" and if we came straight away she would get us the car we wanted.

We explained clearly to Lupe that we were looking to lower our monthly payment  and we had already been denied a week before and we doubted she could help us. Lupe insisted that if we "come down right away" she would "get us a deal". We packed up our one year old baby and raced from La Quinta to Cathedral City hoping to come home in a new car.

Once we got there we sat for two and a half hours at Kia on a Sunday afternoon waiting for a call from the bank that never came. By closing time we had no deal and Lupe gave us her personal cell phone number and assured us that she would call us on Monday to let us know what deal they could get us.

It was becoming clear to us at that point that our Sunday afternoon was wasted by Lupe's desperate attempt to make quota but we hoped we were wrong.

Late Monday morning we still had no call from Lupe so we called her cell phone, it was only then she told us that she would not be in for the next two days and that we would have to speak to the dealer "John." After playing phone tag with John throughout the day he called us to tell us the he could not get us the deal we were asking and that he could only offer us a deal nearly $200 above the amount we are currently paying for our 2013 Subaru Forester, a much finer car  than the Kia Soul.

This entire experience of being lied to and baited by Lupe was unprofessional and unacceptable. Lupe mislead us in an attempt to fill her sales quota for the end of the month and she wasted my time and my family's time in the process. We had already understood and accepted that it would be at least six months before we had the credit score we needed to make a trade and Lupe herself had no authority to change that fact.

After I got off the phone with John, I called Lupe's personal cell phone number (written on a Kia dealership business card) and I VERY politely told her that I didn't appreciate being mislead so that she could fill her quota for the month ( I say this because Lupe also told us that she was sure she could get us the deal because the dealership "needs to make quota") and I asked her why she felt it was okay to lie to people to get them to come to the dealership when she does not have the authority to make decisions, it was at this point that Lupe hung up on me.

With my husband and children present as I spoke to Lupe I can assure you there was no reason for her to hang up on me. Lupe simply knew her plan didn't play out and she didn't feel like dealing with the fall out on her weekend, yet she had no problem wasting my time over the course of 24 hours.

I have since left a two messages with Lupe's general manager and I am still waiting for a call back.

These types of old school bait and switch games are exactly what gets car dealers the bad reputation of untrustworthy sales people.  My grandfather owned and operated five used car dealerships in the Coachella Valley from 1959-1986 and had no tolerance for dealers misleading and mistreatreating  customers. Lupe's game is an old one and it is played out. How sad that people are no longer considered "People" by these corporations, today we are all just a number and a disposable one at that. It's a shame.

Good and bad.

Sales (3/5):  I live 2 hours away and there's no Kia dealer closer to me in California.  We already had a Kia and wanted a larger one.  My initial conversation with Brian is what got me to drive to the dealership.  Overall, I had a very pleasant experience with Brian; however; I was interested in a used Sorento or something similar and wasn't given many specifics on the phone.  Once I got there, it was new, new, new, you can afford new.  I guess I got sucked in. . . love our new car - but was never once offered to even see a used car.

Trade: (3/5): Well, anyone who expects top dollar when trading a car at a dealership will be disappointed.  You will never get close to selling privately.  One of the things I told Brian was that I needed to be able to pay off what I owed on the trade.  Owed around 10k and was quoted 8800k.  I was a sucker and went for the deal, but they never did anything shady here.

Financing: (1/5): Here's where they lost me as a future customer.  The salesman hands you off to the finance guys once you've decided on your car.  This part was shady.  It took hours for them to give me the final price of the car.  I don't remember the guy's name, just that he had snakeskin boots and was the epitome of a shady car dealer type.  He kept pushing payment, payment, payment.  He did finally come back  with a payment that I agreed to, but this was all done on a scratch piece of paper and the terms were unclear.  When I went to seal the deal with the finance manager and I actually looked at the paperwork, they were including an almost $3K extended warranty.  No mention had been made of that and it would have never been brought to my attention had I not read the fine print.  These extended warranties are pure profit.  No wonder my payments had to be stretched out 7 years to have an affordable payment!  I asked him to take it off, and he kind of whined about it but finally did it.  A very dishonest and shady experience.

Summary:  I got a nice car, love the car.  I got "taken for a ride" on my trade, they later listed it for 14k - but that's how they make their money I guess. I nearly got taken for a ride with the extended warranty.  With all the good Google reviews, I expected better.  Just your typical run of the mill dealer.  Some good, some bad.

Update: They keep emailing me and won't stop even after multiple requests to be removed.  Won't ever be back.

Taking time to write about my recent buying experience at Palm Springs Kia.
First off, and without any hesitation: the experience was an apotheosis of perfection.

And yes: not something I would normally elucidate about a car dealership.

I started my inquiry online--and had a a great response from Andre the internet specialist.  Professional, courteous, and seemed to genuinely want my business.  Nothing pushy or demanding.

And I like that.

Then went down for the test drive once I had some competitive numbers on the Kia Soul...and was again blown away by Andre and his demeanor and attitude.  Was not buying that day--and he did not push me or make up some story about the "deal" is only good today.

Another huge impression was made that day.  Again...the complete antithesis of what most dealerships pull.

Then took my wife down about a week later for a drive--and Andre was off(hey, the man needed a day off)and had another great experience with the lady who took us out(forgot her name).  My wife really liked the Soul--and we seemed ready.

And again: no hard sell from Andre the next day.  He said to take my time--and really seemed interested in making sure I made the decision based on my time frame.

Once I am set, I email him everything--and tell him I do not want to go in and be stuck with the finance manager for 2 hours.  All needed to be done on the internet.  He agreed.  And I went in and spent...less then 10 minutes in the fiancé department singing the papers.

So smooth! So quick!  So efficient!

So yes: the whole buying experience could not have gone better.   Andre truly raised the bar on on selling cars--and I came away feeling that Palm Springs Kia delivered in spades.

As for the 2014 Kia Soul: everything looks great so far.  But still need time to see if the car lives up to the hype and reviews.

My experience was top notch from A to Z!!! Aaron Gengarelly picked me up in indio, was curteous and on time. Once at the dealer the process was smooth and painless! They worked with me to get me the best car for the best price! I am very satisfied with my experience and exceptionaly suprised with my new kia forte! Used to think of Kia as cheap but they are changing my mind year by year.

I called to get a quote on an optima with the premium package. The salesperson sounded very young and unprofessional. He kept saying, "you know??" Who does that? Anyway I know the game they all play so after the "RAN NUMBERS" he calls me back and tell me $399 for the car on a lease. I started to laugh and I said it's a KIA! Then he argued with me and tried making me feel stupid. Really? Then he nearly hung up on me. That place is a joke. It's no wonder they have so many cars available. No one wants to buy them after speaking to them.

Don't bother unless you want to be treated like an someone that doesn't know how to handle your own money.

I told them what I was looking for and they did not have it. I went to my car and they badgered my husband and I the whole way as we left, I was passed off to another salesman as we made our way to the car. The salesman started to get rude I think his name was Felipe he had some European accent . He was saying your not listening to me - like I need to actually listen to him... all I am thinking is if I was buying something here- I am the customer here not you, you should be listening to me , I told you I dont want anything you have stop talking down at me, shesh let me leave in peace. I had to actually get in my car and close the door on him... my husband unfortunately was still outside... good thing he followed my lead after a few minutes and opened the door and said sry you dont have what we want and hurried and shut the door on him as he was still trying to talk over my husband. I already was pulling out before he shut the door all the way too. Seriously worst salesman ever. My husband agreed next time we probably shouldn't even get out of the car for the next sales people just in case we need a quick get away thats how pressured we felt and how much they talked down on us giving us an incredibly bad experience.

Pushy sales people. If they can't listen to one thing I needed. DON'T BOTHER. Thing is we wanted a cheaper vehicle for my husband's schooling so we would have 2 vehicles so I can take my son to school and run errands. My husband is military and he said I can get a brand new vehicle in 4 months I would be able to buy a brand new car and paid full in cash for about 25k with his bonus if they given us good experience I would have gladly came back during that time, instead I'll be heading to the one of the other car sales lots down the street.

Extremely bad experience in my recent purchase of a used car from Palm Springs KIA.   My Son purchased the car, and I agreed to co-sign.  After signing all contracts, accepting his trade-in, and allowing him to drive off the lot with the car, I then receive a call 3 days later telling me that the bank would now not accept my Son on the loan, and that if we wanted to keep the car, I would have to be the sole person on the loan, or bring the car back.

It was never mentioned to us that this could happen.  As far as we knew, the loan was accepted the day the purchase was made, since they pulled a credit report, and received approval.

Needless to say, my Son is shocked and heartbroken, and on top of it, will have to drive 2 hours each way to bring the car back to the dealer.

I can't prove that the dealership did this, fully knowing that the loan would not go through, thereby trying to force me into doing the loan by myself, knowing that it would be much harder for me to say no after the kid had the car in his possession for 3 days,  but I can tell you that they had all of the correct financial information in their hands when they "Approved" the sale.

I obviously do not recommend doing business with this dealer.

The service dept not once but three times messed up on my car. 1) the oil cap not on all the way. 2) transmission fluid stick not put in all the way, 3) the alignment was way off, and I travel a little over 100 miles a day. Really are we that incompent  to do the job right and the prices are sky rocket, for the work that I had done, I will not be servicing this dealership sad thing is that is where I brought my car.

Juan S. | 2012-06-01

Came in and was in need of a good car something that I could afford and be dependable. They had many selections and I was able to get into an 08 ford mustang it's clean and got it for a good price! I do recommend coming here if you are interested even if u don't have good credit which was a plus!!!

We were already very interested in a Kia Optima and had visited other dealerships.  Ty Thomas was fantastic to work with and really treated my mom (who the car is for) well.  He's very patient and service-oriented!  Ty went the extra mile to make sure she was comfortable with the car and answered all my questions about the terms and options.  If you're considering Kia, go see Ty!

Buying a car can be one of the most tumultuous experiences. After dealing with the "Sharks" at i10Toyota I was very apprehensive about going to to another dealership. But I wanted to make sure that I was getting the best deal. As soon as I walk onto the lot a friendly calm face met me there. This was not the typical fast talking Sales Man. Philip Scott took the time to understand not only my needs, but my concerns and experience that I had at i10Toyota. It wasn't long before I found the car of my dreams. I was elated to have found something in my price range with a great warranty. Jeff "the boss man with the tie" work diligently with the banks to get me the best price. He was clear when explaining the details of of what ... of the most tumultuous experiences. After dealing with the "Sharks" at i10Toyota I was very apprehensive about going to to another dealership. I would recommend this dealership if you are looking for a stress and pressure free car purchasing experience!

The sales department was shady and untrustworthy. I felt manipulated like they were desparately trying to pull a fast one.  They promised to increase the trade-in amount but then extended the length of the loan instead. After this occurred, they claimed the lower price was due to the higher trade-in value and not due to extending the loan from a 5 year to a 6 year.  While signing the loan docs, the trade-in value was never increased as promised by sales. I left a blue-tooth device in my trade-in vehicle. After calling back a hour later, they claimed they could not locate it.   However, I never once moved this blu tooth device so I knew they were lying and stole it.  In the sales area, I even overheard one employee fighting with another in front of customers.

On a good note, the service dept is AWESOME. Jesse Garcia is the best employee they have there.

I got a card in the mail saying I might have won a Kia Soul or a big-screen TV from Palm Springs Kia.  I was hesitant to go check it out because sometimes I get a lot of pressure to buy a car when dealers do these special promotions.  I was up-front, told them I was really, absolutely not in the position to even think about buying another car.  The salesman was quite pleasant, didn't try to put the screws to me, found that I wasn't a big winner and simply gave me a $5 Wal-Mart gift card and told me to have a nice night.  Hmmm... maybe when I want to get a Kia Sportage I will come back, if they are going to be that nice.

Juan G. | 2011-09-09

I purchased a Kia Soul for my daughter and it was actually a pleasant experience. The sales person listened and was not pushy. Finally, the Kia Soul is great value for the money.

Randall A. | 2011-06-29

Very untrustworthy. The car I did buy from them was broken and had to be taken in for repairs twice after I bought it from them. They jerked me around with the title and loan. They couldn't even get the right vin on the bill of sale or the registration/title. I'll be consulting a lawyer in order to make sure I'm not getting screwed.
