Reviews on Earnhardt Kia

I brought my Kia Sorrento in for an oil change and new shocks and walked out with an estimate for over $1000.00 NOT including the oil change and shocks, but for various  fluid changes and flushes and new brake pads AND rotors. The "service advisor" informed me that the technician told her that driving the car at this point was DANGEROUS and I should really get the work done as soon as possible.  I put a hold on the estimated items after calling my brother and having him tell me he could do all the work for less than half the price.  BUT, that wasn't the WORST part of this story.  Parts were ordered by my brother (rotors, pads) and work commenced only to find out that there was NOTHING wrong with my rotors or pads (they had at least 10,000 miles left on them), nor did any of the fluids need to be flushed or replaced, and my car was not in any way dangerous to drive due to worn brakes. I took pictures of the pads and sent them to RICK, the service manager, who informed me that the technician was a new hire and had made a "bad mistake" in telling me that I needed to spend $$$ to fix  problems that did not exist. After much time passing and texts and phone calls, RICK agreed to send me a check to reimburse me for the expenses I incurred due to EARNHARDTS incompetence and lack of conscience. ONE MONTH later, still no check. Unreal.  I told RICK forget the check, it was really about doing the right thing and apparently EARNHARDT KIA isn't capable of that.  One last thought, one last point...What if I was a single working mother and didn't have an older brother to watch my back? What if I had to decide between a trip to the grocery store or fixing my car so I can go to work and support my children?? My advice...if your KIA needs service, go elsewhere.

We highly recommend Earnhardt Kia.  Bought the 2014 Kia Soul Plus there last June in 2014.  DJ is thee best salesman.  Ashley is thee best service representative.  There was an employee in the finance department who was less than scrupulous and he was fired immediately.  They try very hard to keep the Good and eliminate the Bad and the Ugly.

Danielle G. | 2015-04-15

I've come here a couple of times when my car was being funky and they've come to the rescue with really affordable repairs, unlike other dealership repair centers. They have a really quick turn around, cleaned out my car and washed it before I got it back and even when dropping it off for the quote, one of the guys gave me a ride to work so I won't have to pay for a cab because my car was in the shop.
How cool is that?!?

Shelly S. | 2015-04-07

The service department has bad customer service and there knowledge about repairing cars is very questionable, every time I take one of my cars in and they say they fixed it, it's not and they will tell me that's not what I told them was the problem..they also have employees there that will steal items out of your car and do nothing about it..they also are dishonest about the used cars they sell and when you ask for the Car fax they get very defensive and rude...

Best experience I've ever had shopping for a car. Dave Bailey is great at what he does!

Crystal B. | 2015-03-28

It was a smooth process! And quick! I'd recommend them to my closest friends and family.

This dealership is so bad that I would give it 0 stars if I could.  I have a 2011 Kia that I brought in with a faulty brake switch while the vehicle was still under Kia's so called 'warranty'.  They refused to fix the car since the switch would only fail to operate intermittently.  They actually told me to wait until it breaks down on the road and have the vehicle towed in.  I ended up complaining to Kia corporate office. They eventually ended up replacing the switch.  I will never buy a Kia again.  This is a terrible dealership and even worse customer service.

Cathy K. | 2015-02-26

Earnhardt Kia was wonderful from beginning to end with service. My first service after 6500 miles was simple and done well. I would recommend them for purchasing and servicing your Kia.

Bill S. | 2015-01-30

Ask for Elena. Just got my 4th car here (going back to when it was Big Bell). Top notch all the way!!!!!!!!!!

I loved the sales approach.  Very laid back, personal, and I never felt pressured to buy.  Mike Ford was very perceptive to what I was looking for and what kind of features I needed and he didn't try to up-sell me into something more than I needed.  James Wright was great in walking through the financing options and had a very personal approach as well.  He worked with me to put together a service package that fit my needs and was great in eliminating things that I didn't think I would need.  The dealership gave me a great offer for my Jeep Wrangler that I traded in, within the range of the KBB value.

Overall it was a great experience.  My dad recommended me to this dealership as he recently leased a Sorento through Mike Ford.  If I know of anyone who is looking to buy, I will send them your way.

I called to see if I had a warranty on my battery for my Kia Sorento I've only had for less than a year the guy tells me that they'll pay 25% of the battery and I would have to pay for the other 75% which he told me would come up to $85.50 plus tax that I would have to pay.Ok that was fine. I drive all the way from NW Glendale for them to tell me they failed to mention they charge almost $50.00 in labor and that it would be $132.00 total to take off the battery and replace it.I went to Oreilly and got the same battery and it only took me less than 5 mins to replace it at only $110.00 total with a 2 yr warrant when these guys were only giving me a 1 yr warranty.Rediculous.I suggest if your able to do it yourself that would be the best bet instead of getting ripped off by these people.

I wanted to wait until I had calmed down; and filed my BBB complaint.  Let me warn you off this business.  I did a great deal of research on line and knew exactly the car I wanted - 2014 Kia Soul - new; their inventory showed two - both in my price range.  I called to make sure the vehicles were still in stock; and then went to the dealership where I ran into what I can only describe as old school sleaze; the lower cost vehicle I was told I couldn't fit in as the seat couldn't be adjusted downward enough to accommodate me; the higher priced vehicle had power seats to alleviate that problem.  I drove the vehicle, loved it, explained that I had a commitment to see the same vehicle at another dealership; and had to fight my way out.  I later determined I couldn't afford the more expensive vehicle; and that the manual seat adjusted just fine; the salesman either didn't know how to adjust it; or chose not to adjust it; so I telephoned and told them I wished to purchase the lower cost vehicle, which was still in their inventory.

I was told that the lower cost vehicle had several extras that weren't reflected in the advertised price which would add $3000.00 to the cost.  When I objected to the bait and switch, the salesman told me; "hey, I only work here"; and the sales manager's explanation was that they had problems with the web site getting the correct information posted.  Amazing, the vehicle is still advertised at the same false price today on their web site.  I called a few minutes ago to confirm; "oh yes, that's the right price"; at least until they get you in the door!

I don't know if this is typical of all the Earnhardt dealerships; but to me "no bull" means "deep bull".

Avoid at all costs.

Not entirely impressed with their customer service from their service department from that gal that took my appointment to the service tech that assisted me. Not personable nor did they seem like they wanted to be there so doesn't make me comfortable on this long wait for my car to be looked at. I purchased my vehicle at Sands Kia in Surprise and I must say even though I relocated to north phoenix to live in the future I will make the drive to Surprise for the excellent customer service and work that I trust. This facility definitely needs a revamping from their staff to the facility itself.

I've used this Kia Service for the past 4 years and they've always been terrific! I'd heard many horror stories about going to dealers for service, but I found them to be honest and always took good care of me. This last visit, Ashley J, helped me with having to use my extended warranty for the first time. I anticipated a battle and high costs, none of that occurred! They worked with the extended warranty and checked for any additional issues. I also figured I needed new brakes and their quote was the same (and less with their coupon!) as the local mechanic place we use when cars go out of warranty. Ashley was super friendly and helpful and made the process painless. Angel initially helped me when I called and he was terrific too. Even though I have another Kia dealer that moved close to me, I continue to drive to this one because of how well they take care of me and my car. Thanks!

Have to post an additional great comment of this dealership. Had to get an extended warranty item fixed in 2015 and the dealership found quite a few other items that needed to be fixed. My husband was convinced that the repairs wouldn't be covered by the extended warranty, but Angel and the foreman explained things in detail and all was covered. Angel is friendly and knowledgeable and worked with me from start to finish and, again, made the process painless! I really appreciate the great teamwork at this location.

I worked as a salesman and Finance Manager for several Ford stores so I have a little more knowledge of how dealerships operate. That being said, YMMV, depending on many factors when buying a car. Just being here reading reviews is a GREAT step.

After getting totally xxxxxed around by Mark Kia for 3 hours, the dealership 2 miles from my home and the place I was always going to buy my wife's new Kia, we decided to make the 25 mile drive to this store solely on the telephone demeanor of our contacts, J R  and Dave B.  J R was low key (loved that) and after I explained exactly what we were looking for, he went right to work on crunching the numbers on a 2014 Soul. After conferring with Dave, we were only a couple hundred dollars off a price I considered fair. He quickly resolved that and we had a deal. But wait, I'd been here before, yesterday, with another dealership and, I ended up walking out.   Not this time. He turned me over to Mike to do the paperwork (another stand up guy) and, we were out of the finance office in 15 minutes.

Guys, buying a car is not fun!! It's stressful and believe me, they do this everyday and they have the advantage. BUT, if you're buying a Kia, I highly recommend J R and this Kia location. It will make your experience tolerable, maybe even painless.

There was an obvious difference in the quality of my experience this time. The new service manager has been a great improvement to the department. He was visible and actively involved in the daily operations. Aaron did an excellent job of keeping me informed of the process and was very friendly and respectful. Good job all around.

Bought a Kia from this dealership after being given the runaround at another dealer about a year ago. Such a good experience with Elena that when my husband was looking to get a vehicle last week I suggested we call her. Now, my husband HATES car dealerships ( I mean they do have a slight reputation, right?) However, he was so impressed with Elena and her up front attitude that he told me I had to leave feedback. She got him the car he needed and wanted without the hassle and at a lower interest rate than he had been preapproved for! Nicely done Elena and THANK YOU!!

Bryan F. | 2014-07-20

Stephanie in service was great at checking my warranty information.  The work was done very fast.  I will be back here for all service and my next car if they have it!

Danielle S. | 2014-06-04

This was truly the best car buying experience I have had. Vic was my salesman and he was very knowledgeable. I went in knowing exactly what I wanted and he didn't try to haggle or persuade me into something I didn't want. he found exactly what I wanted, everything on my list was checked off. He was very polite. The paperwork process was very quick as well. Overall from time of arrival to finish I was there maybe an hour and a half.

They live up to the stigma that all car dealers try to lie, cheat and steal.  So sad.  We had a bad experience at Mark Kia.  Asked for the "out the door price" via Internet with the sales person.  Explained we were paying cash.  Got there...and suddenly the price changed because they "thought" we were financing through Kia which comes with a discount.  So, we turned to Earnhardt, explained our horrible experience at Mark Kia.  Promised that they wouldn't happen at THEIR dealership.

Guess what?

They DID THE EXACT SAME THING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Asked for the "Out the Door" cash price.  Got via the internet...bought in the email...and suddenly they're telling us that that price includes an $800 discount if we finance through Kia.  If we don't finance through Kia, the price is $800 more.  We were literally speechless!!!!  WE looked at the saleswoman and said, "we explained to you over the phone that this is EXACTLY what Mark Kia did to us.  You assured us that you wouldn't do that.  That your bottom line price is the bottom line price.  We drove an hour out here and YOU PULLED THE EXACT SAME STUNT!!!"

Yep.  Walked out the door.  Go to Camelback Kia.  They are AMAZING!!!! Honest, easy to work with and are all about making the customer happy, no matter what it takes!

While on vacation in Arizona, I realized that my next  oil change was due. I called around for a dealer near Phoenix that uses the same oil that my home dealer users. My second call was to Earnhardt Kia and I'm so glad to have found them. Everyone at the dealership treated me very nicely and i was in and out in about an hour. I'd like to thank Ashley, Keri, and Nicole!

The only thing that takes this review down to four stars is that their internet access didn't work with my Mac and was told that it also didn't work with another Apple product.

And the way they pampered my car is very much appreciated. By me, as well.!

1 1/2 week ago we tried the service people at Earnhardt Kia once again. (25 min. drive each way)  The last few times we brought it in, we had to bring it back in again due to either the AC blowing hot air (it went in for an oil change), or an oil leak.  Both took forever so they ended up getting me a rental car after my husband during his busy day had to drive me there twice.  The last time it took 3 days for the AC to be fixed.  WOW!
This time we had a safety issue with our Sorrento, it would think the car started but it actually was not, it was confused.  Found out there was a recall with this issue, so we brought it in ASAP.  Guess the recall was replaced the last time it was in, yet it still has this issue but yet can't do anything about it.  So we ended up with just getting an oil change.  Drive it home and the AUTO button on our heating/cooling system is not working!  I called up "Trisha" again and asked how in heck's name can something go wrong with the Cooling system every time it goes in for an oil change.  There was no way I could bring it back again and have my husband pick me up so I told her they would have to come get it from my house in Scottsdale and bring it back again.  I have to say I was somewhat shocked when she agreed.   So today just by "coincidence" a switch had tripped and just needed to get reset.  Really????
Anyway I guess we will be making a 40 min. drive to a different service station from now on.  Was somewhat looking into buying a Kia Soul, but after our service disasters, we will not be buying another Kia.  I have better use of my time.

Karyn L. | 2013-08-11

I had an email with a written price quote for an exact vehicle. They got me in the door and couldn't honor the pricing. Waste of my time. Elena from Internet sales was very sweet, but her manager Stephen is not trustworthy at all.

Chandra L. | 2013-08-04

Completely lost my trust, I bought my car here, and despite moving to Laveen, I still bring it back for service (I was told it was mandatory when I purchased the vehicle). They have always been pushy with trying to up sale on services, but what dealership isn't? This last service was what did them in for me. Not only were services done, that I specifically told them to hold off on, but they did not complete the check up I paid for, and they marked it off as complete on my work sheet. My coolant levels were low, and my washer fluid was empty as well. Technician work sheet said these had been checked, and were in the green. When I called to inform them of this, I got a few "oh" and "ah"s but that was it. I will never bring my car back to this dealership, they have completely lost my trust. I am concerned about what else they didn't check, but told me was ok. Please beware, and check your car after each service to make sure the services you paid for are actually being completed.

Ian S. | 2013-07-31

The services were good but the prices are not. I needed an oil change, which I found out costs about $32 here and was shocked, but I needed recall work done there anyhow so I said OK. I asked if it came with a tire rotation and he said no, I asked if they could please do one anyway and he said sure.

Yeah. He failed to mention that it would cost me another $20.

"No bull" must be a clever joke.

Grace G. | 2013-07-26

First & Last time with them. I will drive the 15 miles to Peoria Kia from now on. I had a service appt. for 3 pm. I show up on time at 254 pm. The service guy Nick says it will take 1 1/2 hrs. For the recalls and an oil change. 5 pm rolls around and still nothing. 530 and my husband calls to make sure I wasn't murdered or something. I ask the service person how much longer and she says about 15 minutes for the car wash. I then ask if they give military discounts and of course, they don't. Peoria Kia does I tell them and proceed to pay my bill. What was only suppose to take 1.5 hrs is now 3.5 hrs and I am miserable. Not to mention the customer next to me gets told by the service guy Nick that he hopes she has her spare key on her since the mechanic who worked on her car has locked her set of keys in his toolbox and left for the day. She was pissed. So to make a long story short, I will NEVER go to this dealership EVER AGAIN!

I will also report them to the Kia corporates since I get mail and calls from them constantly. This was the most miserable experience at a dealership let alone just for a routine service.

Jayne A. | 2013-04-07

I am a snowbird and I bought a car here instead of at home because they assured me they would give me all the proper papers to extend my temporary liscense to get home. When it came time for me to leave they would not return my calls or stand behind the promises they had made. As an older car buyer I believed that they were honest and unfortunately I found out that once they had all the csh and the papers were signed they were done with me. I would never buy another car from them. It is sad that for a small promise and a little effort they would of had my advertising to all my friends and family. However now, I see they just wanted to sale and did not really care. Bob scott...if you read this perhaps you should return calls and model following thru on a deal for your salesman as well. After they have your money BEWARE!

This was the most painless car buying/leasing experience I have ever had. No high pressure sales, just friendly help. David B. was an excellent customer advisor. I would recommend Ernhardt to anyone.

Marc T. | 2012-08-26

Let me start out by saying that I absolutely DESPISE high-pressure sales. Car dealerships are notorious for that very thing. But, there's a simple trick to avoid falling prey to their evil wiles. DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH! Before you put yourself into a high-pressure sales situation, arm yourself with knowledge. Know what you want before you get there. That way, the salesperson is merely the one who helps you fill out the paperwork and gives you your keys.

After my old car incurred mechanical damage that cost more to repair than she was worth, I knew it was time for a new car. I wasn't completely excited by the idea, as I absolutely loved my old car. But, the time had come.

So, I enlisted the help of my wife, and we researched what was available. For the money I was willing to spend, and for the features I wanted, the Kia Optima was the way to go. Armed with this knowledge, I went to the closest Kia dealership to my apartment, which just so happened to be the location on Bell Rd.

Now, anybody who has ever been to a car dealership (to buy or just to test-drive) knows how it works. All of the salespeople wait for would-be buyers, and whichever person is next in line for a sale goes and tries to close a deal.

Luckily for me (and for him), Kevin was the salesperson next in line. When he came out to the lot to greet me, I had already found the exact car I wanted. Kevin explained all of the different options, but for the most part, he let me do all of the talking, and truly listened to find out what my wants and needs were. Within a matter of minutes, we were in the car and off of the lot for a test drive.

I absolutely loved the car. But, I wanted to make sure that the wife approved, as well. So, I told Kevin that we'd be back later that night for a final test drive. I'm sure he was probably skeptical, But, I am a man of my word.

Long story short, we both loved everything about the car in person. We told Kevin we'd take it.

Here's the kicker. We had such a great experience with Kevin and the staff that my wife traded in her perfectly good car for a brand new Kia Soul.

That's right...this dealership was so great, we bought two new cars in a three day period...and we couldn't be happier with our decision! Thank you, Kevin and all of the staff at Earnhardt Kia!!!

Kelly R. | 2012-05-17

Much better than when it was the previous owners. I feel I am treated very well here, and no one is trying to take advantage of me. The receptionist is cheerful and professional, as well as clearly informed. My service advisor, Rob is very friendly, and keeps me in the loop about my car. It's been difficult for me to trust car dealerships in the past, but I don't have any fears or doubts at Earnhardt Kia and I will continue to be a customer as long as I am this satisfied!

Max S. | 2012-03-31

Wow, you guys were awesome, strait up folks to work for you.tyree Evans was / is a fantastic professional sales person. What a great experience. I drove from another town near winterhaven ca in as where the local dealership there in yuma tried to clean my clock very disappointed there. Bottom line if your looking for a Kia it's worth the drive to Phoenix to buy it and if you do call Tyree you won't be sorry
Thank you guys! You rock and will get referrals from us!

Had an excellent experience buying my new Kia Soul Xclaim!  Everything was so easy, made the process fun!  We went to many dealerships and finally ended up at Earnhardt Kia at 730 at night, but the staff weren't bothered by our late arrival and were happy to show up the hard time find vehicle that had just come in that day (still had plastics over all the wheels and no fluids), they were able to beat my bank financing and got me a 3.9% interest rate and took $500 off for financing thru them.  I'm sooo happy with their service and my new car!

Michael O. | 2011-12-26

I always buy my new cars from Earnhardt dealers because they make the process so easy and stress free. I bought a brand new car and usually the most difficult part is negotiating and the process was seamless and I got exactly what I wanted.

Thank you for the excellent service!

Changed hands from Big Bell Road Kia to Earnhardt Kia from a Friday to a Monday with no warning. All new staff and no records from the previous owners. Had an appointment to take our new car in on the 23rd of August for some problems that Big Bell Road Kia had agreed to fix. Service had no record of our appointment, nor what was to be fixed, after some discourse they said they would take care of us, parts would be ordered, things would be scheduled and we would get a call. Two and a half weeks later and nothing has been done and the Manager is claiming they no nothing about it, and it was like we were never there on the 23rd. I am sure we are not the only people in this situation over the transition with this dealership. Now we are left with a messed up new car and no way to get it fixed, unless we go somewhere else and pay out of pocket.
